Hello all! We once again wanted to apologize for the delay in getting the USUK Week 2024 prompt survey out, and we wanted to thank everyone that stuck with us during the unprompted radio silence. That being said, we are up and running again!

USUKUS Fiendfest 2024

What is it?

This is an event that is themed around Monsters as a preparation for Halloween or All Hallows’ Eve. Our event’s goal is to attempt to increase the overall amount of fanworks for the pairing, USUKUS in the show, Hetalia.

How does it work?

The rules of this event are as follows:

There is no need to sign up to join. Anyone can participate!

 There are 25 slots in the picture, all pertaining to a specific theme of Monsters. It is your job to pick any one of these squares, and make USUKUS content based on the Monster referenced in it.

The intent is to collaboratively, as a community, fill out as many as possible, much like a blackout board on a bingo sheet.

We’ll be keep count through the following:

Posting in the USUKUS Discord (not required but highly recommended)

On Tumblr, Twitter or Archive of our Own, using #USUKUSFiendfest2024

When posting your content, include in the description what part of the bingo card this is supposed to fulfill.

We accept multiple entries for the same bingo slot, but it will only count as one dauber on the card.

Although the subject matter for Halloween can sometimes border topics of horror and unhappy endings, we’re hoping that we can encourage a more romantic approach to USUKUS. So let’s try and keep it positive and focused around these two in love :heart:

But! What if I already drew/wrote something that already exists that can count for the event?

As was mentioned, the purpose of this event is to encourage more fanworks for the USUKUS pairing. If this is a theme you’ve done before, try something new! Or even better, encourage your current work to be a reference for someone else to use!

Knightly Interruption

Notes: Written for a 2020 Halloween event. USUKUS, word count: 378

“Arthur!” Alfred screeched, weakly swatting at the hands. Despite his movements being shaky, his hard glare was not. “You know I ain’t into this freaky shit!”

Arthur walked closer, not wanting to attract the knight's attention if Alfred wasn’t in immediate danger. He shrugged, holding his elbows and falling into a relaxed stance. “What am I supposed to do? Exercise the good man?”

America nodded vigorously.

“I can’t,” Arthur stated simply. The air was sharp and sliced through the stitches of his sweater to bite his flesh. And their wine had spilled into the grass. Damn.

It hadn’t a head, the top of a rotted spine protruding from the gaping hole of its neck. Its armor was in tatters with broken bits of rusted shrapnel embedded in a series of exposed ribs. Metal scattered the graveyard soil in a trail.

And all this drama because they’d (unintentionally, accidentally) rolled over an unmarked grave after sharing a bottle of sherry. England only managed the buckle of America’s belt before the soil underneath them broke and a rotten hand shot out and snagged America’s ankle.

The grip was unexpectedly firm (for a dead, headless knight) so when America cried out and dragged himself away, he hauled the rest of the body out from the deep caverns of the graveyard floor.

Coming to a decision, Arthur walked over and tapped the knight on the shoulder who turned around with an awful sound of rusted chain mail grinding, and asked kindly, “Is there something I can help you with, sir?”

The knight stopped pawing America’s quivering back and turned its busted front to face England. 

Damp hands encompassed his and shook them firmly, a clear yes. When Engalnd squeezed back it dropped their shake and stumbled to kneel over a packed patch of dirt, gesturing at it with creaking, slow, but communicative motions. 

Then it pointed to a gross-looking shovel propped against an iron gate.

England didn’t need to look over his shoulder to know that America was passed out and went to grab the tool with a sigh.

Planting the shovel into the dirt and jamming his foot over the edge, the Brit bemoaned how differently this night would’ve gone if they just remained on the blanket.

“Just a moment, sir.”

The time has come for a Valentine's Day fic! At least here, but let's just ignore time zones for a moment.

In which Alfred Jones learns a valuable lesson about capitalism by figuring out that, sometimes, sharing a Rent-a-boyfriend post isn't the best idea, especially if one's best friend and the object of one's pining is only too happy to help out with the monetary issues that made one share said post.

Or

Alfred is a flustered mess as he tries to deal with the fact that his best friend and crush Arthur is literally out on a date with him.

WIP that List

Finally getting around to being tagged courtesy of @coralcatsea and @fireandiceland for the WIP Game List. Feel free to be peek. This could double as a way to get my word-spew organized. Yes, feel free to talk to me/share ideas about any of these.

Assume it's all USUKUS unless stated otherwise. :]

Free Use AU - Humanverse. Circles around a romantically-based found family trope of the Allies and blanket consent + free use kinks onto Alfred, who is a happy, spoiled pet sub. Currently uploading to AO3 with originally 6 fics planned, but I just recently wrote 2 more. The ideas keep coming.

Tsunyotalia piece - Tsunotalia + Nyotalia. NSFW. After writing Love at First Headbutt I just had a craving for more. May or may not already be written. Just deciding whether to keep it the way it is or stretch it out a little.

TOURNAMENT - Cardverse. One of those pieces that have the Kingdom of Spades competing to be the Queen, as well as winning King Alfred's hand. Fully outlined, writing in progress, but on hold for other projects.

Blindfold - Cardverse. AU of an AU. Idea came to me when I was writing Only a Matter of Time (and Waiting). Since the King of Spades has extremely powerful but cursed time magic in their eyes, they must wear a blindfold. Arthur is a woodworker who has been hired to go to the palace and remodel the King's bedchambers, where they meet and (vague gesturing). Particularly excited to work on it, fully outlined and working on this one right now.

Pirate Cardverse series - Cardverse. PIRATES. Pirate Queen for the Throne of Spades, yes! The series is almost already done. There's definitely one more fic to write, one for nyo!America/nyo!England since I did the other combinations for USUKUS. Not written yet, but planned. I'll have to perish before I don't write it.

✨Might squeeze out another Arthur/Amelia fic, something small and smutty as an epilogue to 'cap' the series.

Vampire Cardverse series - Cardverse. And vampires. Vampire Cardverse. This bastard. This has been in my brain since 2019, and I have so little to show for it. I had a whole giant story/backstories/series to go with it. Rumors are rising in the Kingdom of Spades of vampires, anything to explain inexplicable homicides. Is it really the vampires, or something trying to pin the blame upon the vampires? I got past 20 chapters/100,000 words and I lost the progress I made by doing some stupid overriding save mistake. I still have the outline but have hardly touched it since. Still mourning over it.

ABO Cardverse - ...Cardverse again. Probably typical but too bad—Alfred is an omega but gets the mark/power of the King of Spades. Omega King Alfred, yessir. Outlined, but not yet written.

Skyrim AU - It's Skyrim AU with Canada as the Last Dragonborn. One of the ones with no USUKUS as main focus. Two fics already written, taking place after the main events of the game, but when I continue this series, I plan to go back to the beginning to explore how it all started. Planned, not outlined, not yet written.

Spider-Man AU - SPOOOODER-MAN YES it's all just vibes right now, vibes, vibes, vibes. I have no idea what's gonna happen, no idea where it's going to go BUT ALFRED AND ARTHUR ARE SPIDER-PEOPLE AHHHHHH THWIP THWIP WEB SLINGING KA-POW, KA-POW! Not planned, not outlined, not yet written.

Two RusCan furry fauna bear things - 1) In the city, Matthew works for a sanctuary helping monsters make their way into society and/or out of abusive situations and other harmful situations. One of the people he helps is Ivan, a polar bear guy who is absolutely shut about his past.

2) Matthew is a fisherman who is told not to go through the woods on the outskirts of the village, but circumstances cause him to have to find a new spot, so he risks it and heads through the woods and learns the exact cause of the warnings. Both not outlined, half written.

Everything else is just ideas so far:

-Nordic 5 Christmas fic that's been in my head for 4 years but haven't gotten to it yet

First off, apologies for the delay and general radio silence. Behind the scenes here, we had a lot to work through and discuss before we could resume running this event. We're excited to be back, and hope several of the changes we've made will make things easier and more appealing to participate than ever!

Second, I'm sure everyone has some questions, so in no particular order let me try to hit the highlights.

───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Passing of the torch With great respect, we tip our hats to previous TPY event runners Mayumi Sato and Ixie Pixie. Exciting real life things have picked up for them, and they're no longer able to dedicate the time and energy to this like they used to. In their stead, we would like to introduce the new admins:

TPY is now co-sponsored and run by and from the USUKUS Network Discord, though rest easy - as usual, all relevant information will still be posted and updated here at the tumblr. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Process changes? We've taken note of comments, concerns, and critiques of how previous events were run, and we hope the processes we've changed will alleviate several of these issues. Changes include how we accept theme suggestions, how participants submit their work, where information is posted, and overall timeline of each half of the event.

Don't fret, though - after all these changes, for the first half of this year's event, we'll take it slow and explain things step by step instead of dumping all the new stuff all at once. This kept many potential participants in the dark, and obfuscated the suggestion and decision making processes. Back Porch

Halloween is here, which means it’s time for Alfred’s halloween party! Thank you to everyone who participated in the event, both through asks and voting on Arthur’s costume! Happy Halloween! //

As Arthur walked through the front door of Alfred’s ranch home, he was already starting to regret his choice to come. Especially dressed as he was. It’d been a mistake to RSVP to Alfred’s invitation, even if Alfred had called him afterward to tell him how excited he was that he was coming. It’d made Arthur’s heart flutter, but that was before he’d been forced into a ‘sexy nurse’ costume by his peers. He wished he’d just gone costume shopping alone, but others had wanted to ‘help,’ and apparently, he was stupid enough to have let them.

The main room of Alfred’s house was awash in orange lights and decorations. Pumpkins, skeletons, and witches adorned every inch of the place, and the jack-o-lanterns that Arthur had helped carve were dispersed evenly around the room.

“Arthur!” That familiar, honey-sweet voice called to him, so vibrant and full of excitement. Alfred had caught a glimpse of him from across the room, and he started over, the bear ears on his head and the fluff on his jacket collar bouncing as he walked. “I’m so glad you could make it, I-” 

Alfred paused, his eyes locked on Arthur’s costume now, gaze trailing downwards slowly. “I uh. Wow. That’s quite the outfit, ain’t it?”

Arthur felt his face flush bright red, and he reached blindly for the doorknob behind him. “Perhaps I should be going- it probably wasn’t a good idea for me to come.” Arthur’s brain was screaming ‘abort mission,’ but before he could leave Alfred had placed a gentle hand over his.

“Don’t go!” Alfred pleaded, and Arthur almost thought he could detect a hint of desperation. They were close now, and Arthur could see that Alfred’s face was as red as his own. Or perhaps that was just the orange lighting. “Don’t go. You just got here, at least play some games or have some cake. It’s chocolate, your favorite. Please?”

Arthur glanced around the room. No one else wore a costume like his. They were vampires, werewolves, zombies...even Francis, who had a reputation of being a little risque, had toned it down. They were dressed as a black cat, and though the outfit was form-fitting, it certainly wasn’t as embarrassing as Arthur’s own. 

“I don’t know, Alfred..” Arthur whispered, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. “I’m really..out of place. I thought at least Francis would be more...you know. But no. I just..feel silly. I should go home.”

Alfred seemed to consider this for a moment and looked down at himself. “I uh...I think I can help. Just..don’t go anywhere, okay? I’ll be right back.” 

With that, Alfred ran off, leaving Arthur to linger around the doorway. He toyed with the idea of leaving, but, no...Alfred seemed really sincere. He would at least hear him out. Maybe he had a jacket or some pants Arthur could borrow.

Alfred, as it turned out, had no such plan. He turned heads as he walked back towards Arthur- bear ears still on his head and tail still tied around his waist, but his jeans and jacket were gone. He had on a pair of tight black shorts instead, with “I <3 NY” written on one thigh. He’d also gone shirtless. 

“Well?” He asked, chuckling as he adjusted his glasses. “What do you think? Will you stay if you have to share the spotlight?” He smiled at him. “Not that I’m as pretty as you, but if I’m at least half as good, I’m sure you’ll be fine.”

Arthur looked down at his feet, not wanting to linger on Alfred too long. “This is dumb..” He mumbled, but a smile came to his lips anyway and he laughed. “You’re so silly. Yes, yes, I’ll stay, if you’re going to go to such trouble.” He looked up and met Alfred’s eyes, and Alfred beamed.

The party was, overall, a wonderful time. Arthur made some small talk with the other guests, but most the party was spent following Alfred around and having a good time with him. They’d had cake, played party games- Arthur had even won apple bobbing. As the evening wound down, Alfred put on some movies- some scary, some not. Arthur leaned on Alfred’s side as they watched, quilt draped over their shoulders. He was about to call it a night and head home, but Alfred squeezed his hand, whispering for him to follow him to the back porch. 

They got up, most other partygoers too engrossed in the movie to notice. Arthur didn’t fail to notice the way Alfred held his hand as he led him outside, letting go only to sit on the back steps and motion for Arthur to sit beside him. He did.

“Arthur?” Alfred began, putting an arm around his shoulders and looking up at the moon. “I’m...real glad you came.”

Arthur paused. Where...was this going? Alfred wasn’t usually like this. He opened his mouth to speak, but Alfred beat him to it.

“I’m always happy to see ya, y’know.” He chuckled. “Every time. I think...I could see you every day, and I’d always be happy.” He gave Arthur a squeeze.

“...I feel that way, too.” Arthur mumbled, and he felt Alfred tense. Apparently, he hadn’t been expecting that.

Alfred smiled, and turned to face him. Arthur caught him looking at his lips.

“Can I..?”Alfred began, but Arthur nodded before he could finish speaking. 

“You can.”
