Houthis attacked American aircraft carrier & Israel
youtube
On 17 January 2025, Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for rocket and drone attacks on Israeli cities and the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman in the Red Sea.
The Houthis, expressing solidarity with Palestinians, vowed to continue operations against Israel and its allies.
The group also targeted key shipping routes in the region.
In related news, a secret airstrip near Socotra Island, suspected to be built by the UAE, is nearing completion, potentially for military operations related to anti-Houthi efforts.

Adult Education Part 3 | Hangman x OC
Summary: Jake visits Jessica during her office hours again, and he's left wanting her even more than before. But when he hears that there may be more to her than meets the eye, he has to decide if his feelings are worth the potential risk.
Warnings: Fluff, angst, swearing
Length: 3500 words
Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Female OC
This story is part of the Beer Boy and Sugar universe but can be read on its own! Adult Education masterlist
Seriously, who let Jake on my masterlist!? Banner by @mak-32
"What are you doing?"
Jake glanced up from the scientific journal which was open on the cafeteria table next to his tray of lunch.
"What does it look like I'm doing, Bradshaw? I'm reading."
"You're reading?"
"Yeah," Jake replied, smoothing out the glossy page as he rolled his eyes. "I know you were in a fraternity and all, but I still assumed you knew what reading was."
Bradley set his tray down on the opposite side of the table. "Joke's on you. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA."
Jake just snorted as he read the caption under the photo of an F/A-18 that had been taken on the deck of the USS Harry S. Truman. "And I had a perfect 4.0."
"Damn," Bradley remarked before biting into his sandwich.
"Yeah, I liked school," Jake muttered, turning the journal page. "I still like school."
"Is this because of my wife's coworker? Professor Reed?"
Jake met his eyes before looking back down at the notebook he'd been scribbling some questions in. It was only Wednesday. Jessica didn't have office hours until tomorrow. He was nearly finished reading the stack of journals she gave him from cover to cover, and he actually did have some questions for her. Real questions about what he read, not just whether or not he could get her phone number yet.
"Maybe," Jake replied cautiously. He had already looked up the cost of taking one of her night classes, but he wasn't about to admit to that. "I just like how smart she is. She wrote her thesis on military aircraft propulsion."
Bradley just laughed. "This has nothing to do with how she looks? Sugar told me she's hot."
Jake bristled a bit. "She is hot." He thought back to her mini lecture and how she seemed to be the only physics professor at the school who actually knew how to teach. Then he remembered how cute she was at Chippy's, talking about her subject of study with bright eyes and a smile.
"Yeah," Bradley said, breaking into his thoughts. "I know how you operate. Each one is hotter than the last."
Jake closed the journal and set the notebook on top of it. "Doesn't matter. She still didn't give me her number. Probably thinks I'm ridiculous." He excused himself with his tray and the journals.
And by Thursday evening, Jake thought he was pretty ridiculous, too. What was he doing here? He was really going back to her office hours with his notes on the articles like some pathetic puppy? Like he was actually a student with an assignment to turn in? But even though she didn't give him her number, she had invited him back when she wrote her office hours down.
When Jake started up his truck, he had every intention of turning right at the gatehouse and heading home. But he turned left toward the bay bridge instead.
--------------------------
"Dr. Reed. I need help. These problems are hard."
The actual audacity that these students had was just impressive. They came to her office hours and whined about how hard the coursework was. And they did it all the time.
"Physics is hard, Luca," Jessica replied, loosening her grip on her pencil so she didn't snap another one. "But it would be a lot easier if you attended all my lectures."
"Aww, come on, Dr. Reed," he moaned, sliding his notebook a little closer. "I had to go surfing on Tuesday. Hey, you should come next time. I'll give you lessons if you bump my grade up just a little bit."
"Luca."
"I was kidding," he mumbled, collecting his notebook and the packet of extra practice problems she had given him to work on. "See you next week."
"Bye, Luca," she replied, opening her office door for him. And then her heart started pounding as her eyes caught on the man who was leaning against the hallway wall opposite her door.
"Bye, Professor," Luca said before he set his skateboard down and pushed off with one foot. But Jessica was too distracted by Jake Seresin to remind Luca for the hundredth time that he wasn't allowed to skate in the academic buildings.
"Reedy," Jake said softly with a tentative smile. She was honestly shocked he was here on campus again. For the third time this week. Apparently he took her note about office hours seriously.
"Jake. I'm surprised to see you here."
He just shook his head slightly and said, "You really shouldn't be."
Her blood felt too hot in her veins as he pushed away from the wall. He was all chiseled jaw, green eyes and immaculate hair, and she was once again left wondering what the catch was. The khaki uniform was back, just like Monday night, and she wondered once again if he came here straight from work instead of stopping home.
"I'm here for your office hours," he added, taking a step closer to her. He was big and strong and a lot taller than her. And the way she just knew Jake would let her run her fingers along his pins just like she'd done with his patches was making her ears feel warm and fuzzy.
Well, this was embarrassing. She hadn't been gone for a guy this bad in over a year. Not since Brian Conley. But she couldn't even focus on anything else right now, because she was devoting all of her energy to trying to say something intelligent to Jake. Where were all of her quips and clever remarks? She must have left them at Chippy's on Monday night, because she hadn't heard from them since.
"Come on in," she told him, and she left the note on the small whiteboard in the hallway letting anyone else who might show up know that her office was occupied. "What can I do for you?"
She didn't mean for that sentence to sound so suggestive, but she noted the pink flush on Jake's cheeks as she closed her door and leaned back against it. He was close but not too close, and his eyes drifted down over her uninspired pantsuit in such an appreciative way that it made her feel like she was wearing a pretty cocktail dress. Or maybe even less than that.
"You could give me your phone number."
She smirked at his statement and at the soft Texas drawl. She went to A&M for four years. She could tell he was a homegrown Texas boy who had somehow ended up transplanted in southern California. Maybe a little out of his element, just like her. Maybe trying to forget and move on, just like her.
When her eyes drifted to what he was holding, she asked, "Did you read the article? In Propulsion Science?"
He glanced down at the stack of journals and the notebook in his big hand, and said, "I read them all. Cover to cover. I have some notes and a few questions."
When he glanced back up and met her eyes, she cocked her head to one side. "Seriously? You read all of them?"
"Yes," he replied immediately.
She walked past him, letting her fingers brush the back of his hand longingly. When she took her seat, he was leaning on the opposite side of her desk with both hands and looking down at her. He already asked for her phone number. Twice. It was a bold move, playing hard to get with a man as handsome as Jake. But the steady rise and fall of his chest and his softly parted lips while he gave her his full attention was addicting.
"Take a seat," she said softly. "Show me what you have."
He groaned quietly and pulled the other chair a bit closer, and Jessica soon found herself a little warm again. While he wasn't a PhD candidate, his notes on the journal articles were thoughtful and his questions were insightful.
"This journal of physical chemistry had the most interesting article on engine mechanics, but I must admit, I was a bit lost when they talked about the implementation of fuel combustion calculations," he said, holding out his notebook for her to take. "What's your opinion, Dr. Jessica?"
This was clearly a man who gave great consideration to his aircraft and what he did all day at work. And that was hot. He was smart, and he thought she was smart. And he wasn't afraid to acknowledge either of those things.
When she slowly stood, she could practically feel his eyes on her body. "It's my opinion that you should read this accompanying article." She turned toward her bookshelf and couldn't help but glance back at him over her shoulder. His gaze met hers right away, and she stumbled a bit in her high heels. She had to steady herself before she reached up to the top shelf on her tiptoes.
"Allow me," Jake said, and the soft scrape of his chair on the floor was followed by his warm body just inches behind hers. "Which one is it?"
She thought about sliding out of his way. She considered that he'd have an easier time reaching the correct journal if she wasn't also standing in front of the shelf, but she didn't move an inch. "One with a blue spine," she whispered as he reached up past her head and ran his fingers along the journals.
"One of these ones?" he asked, moving his fingers very slowly along the spines from left to right.
"Mmhmm," she hummed as his chest pressed against the back of her shoulder. He grabbed several journals with blue spines and gently took them down from the shelf and placed them in her hands. His voice was right there next to her ear.
"There you go, Reedy."
His big hand brushed her waist before he stepped away from her, and she turned to face him, ready to throw the journals across the room in favor of pulling him closer again. "But they're for you," she said, sounding a little bit out of breath.
Jake was rubbing the back of his neck now, cheeks flushed as he reached out to take them back. "Right." His voice was rough, and Jessica plopped back down into her seat with very little grace.
She cleared her throat twice before saying, "The one on the top of the stack has a great accompanying article that you should read. And if you really want to know about the calculations, I can show you sometime."
"I'll read all of them," he replied, eyes soft on her face as she awkwardly adjusted her glasses with the backs of her fingers.
"I do appreciate a man who reads in his spare time," she whispered. It looked like Jake was ready to jump out of the chair again, and she kind of wished he would. Because she was currently thinking about crawling across the desk and onto his lap, and letting herself touch all of his pins while she tasted his lips.
She jumped in her chair when there was a sharp knock on the door, and suddenly Jake looked even more flustered. "Come in!" she called out, but she couldn't seem to take her eyes off Jake.
"Dr. Reed,'' came a gratingly annoying voice from her doorway. It was Dr. Leeland, and he was looking between Jessica and Jake like something deviously untoward was going on in here. But that's what everything thought about her, she supposed.
"Dr. Leeland, how can I help?" she asked, smiling apologetically at Jake who was now rising out of his seat. Leeland was looking at him like he was trying to place who he was, and Jessica had to hide her smile. She kind of hoped he didn't recognize the man who called him out on his incorrect math during the mini lecture.
"Need help with my printer," he growled, and Jessica was on her feet now, walking around her desk.
"Sure," she replied as smoothly as she could with Jake standing right next to her. "I'll be right there."
She watched Leeland shuffle back out into the hallway before she looked up at Jake. "Damn," he whispered. "I thought maybe I'd be able to talk you into another three dollar beer and some peanuts."
She bit her lip and said, "He'll have me in there for at least an hour helping him, guaranteed. So maybe another time?"
"I'll be thinking about it all weekend, Jessica."
Then she reached up and ran her index finger along his name tag, tracing S E R E S I N before tapping his lieutenant insignia gently. And he just let her do it with the softest look in his eyes.
"Yeah. Me too."
---------------------------
On Saturday night at the Hard Deck, Jake was happy to see that Bradshaw and his wife were both there. He knew what kind of beer she liked, so he flagged down Penny at the bar and ordered one along with his own glass of bourbon. Then he sipped his drink as he walked over to her.
Jake smirked, because she never looked quite happy to see him, but she did accept the beer when he handed it to her. "Thanks," she told him, "but you're not usually this nice to me. What's up?"
He narrowed his eyes. "I'm.... nice."
She chuckled as Rooster walked back over to her after Nat kicked his ass at pool. "You're alright, Jake, but I'm not stupid. I know what you want."
"Sugar," Rooster whined. "You got another beer but didn't grab me one, too?"
"Jake got it for me," she said, pulling the bottle further away when he reached for it. "It's a bribe, but I want to hear him admit it."
She looked at Jake again with a knowing smile, and when she pressed the bottle to her lips, he said, "Fine. It's a bribe. I want you to tell me everything you know about Jessica Reed."
Bradley rolled his eyes and kissed her cheek. "I'll be with Nat."
"So?" Jake said when they were alone again. "Will you tell me? Because that woman is driving me insane, and she won't even give me her phone number."
"Yikes. You can usually seal the deal right away," she said, glancing around the always crowded bar. "I can count like four women here who you've hooked up with."
Jake sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before he downed the rest of his bourbon. "Please?" he asked calmly.
She was quiet as she sipped her beer. "I actually don't know her very well," she said a little cautiously. "I eat lunch with her occasionally, because everyone else seems to avoid her. Especially everyone who works in the science departments."
This was puzzling to Jake. Jessica was the most interesting woman he'd met in a long time. She was even nice to Dr. Leeland when he asked her for help. He honestly couldn't imagine anyone wanting to avoid her on purpose. "You sure she's not just a bit of a loner by nature or something?"
But she just shrugged. "Come on, Sugar," Jake begged, using the name Rooster called her. "Be sweet, and just tell me what her deal is."
She laughed and said, "I like her just fine. I have no problem with her. But whether or not there is any truth behind them, Jessica is the subject of a lot of rumors."
"Rumors?" Jake's mind was immediately swirling. Jessica with her glasses and her high heels and nerdy journals and soft smiles. "What do you mean?"
"I try not to get involved, so I don't know too much. But something definitely went down between her and the head of the chemistry department. And I heard one of the other physics professors call her a slut behind her back."
Jake's grip tightened so hard and so fast on his empty glass, he was convinced he was going to break it. "She's fucking sweet," he growled. "And a damn better teacher than anyone else in her department. And nobody should be calling anyone a slut in a professional setting."
"I don't disagree with you," she said quickly. gently touching his hand. "But you asked. So I told you."
Jake nodded and said, "You're right. I asked. Thank you."
"Sure, Jake," she said softly, turning toward her husband. "And thanks for the beer."
He watched her walk into Rooster's welcome arms. He held her with a laugh while he juggled a pool cue, and Jake felt a pang of jealousy. He never used to mind being the one who was always single, but even he could admit that it would be nice to be around someone who was smart and funny and kind. And have them want to be around you.
By late Sunday morning, Jake decided he didn't actually care about any rumors where Jessica was concerned. He liked her. He could tell she liked him. He kept replaying the way her face looked as she traced his patches and pins with her gentle fingers.
He couldn't tell if she was playing coy or toying with him, but he would stand there all day long in her office and let her do anything she wanted to him as long as she was looking up at him with that outwardly needy expression. And he wanted to touch her back, run his hands along her hips and pull her close, but he still didn't even have her number.
But he did still have her San Diego State faculty profile open in his phone browser, and his thumb was hovering over her email address.
----------------------------
Jessica knew Monday morning was going to be a struggle. They always were. After a weekend of going out with friends and taking a luxurious Sunday afternoon nap, facing Brian for the weekly faculty meeting was going to be hell. But she got dressed, fixed her hair and put her glasses on. She made sure she was on time. She made sure there was nothing for anyone to complain about when it came to her.
And just like always, she was sitting off toward the back of the small auditorium alone, sipping some coffee and counting down the minutes until the clock hit 9:00 and she could go up to her office.
"Now, for those of you who are not on a tenure track yet," Brain Conley said, turning to glance at her, "make sure you pay close attention."
He was such an ass. Just such a handsome looking fucking asshole. Everyone knew that Dr. Nguyen and Jessica were the only two that statement applied to, and this was his first year out of grad school. He was like twenty four. But Jessica looked down the row of seats and smiled at Dr. Nguyen who smiled back while he blushed. And then she listened to Brian drone on and on about excellence in education and involvement on campus.
By the time she made it up to her office, her coffee had soured in her stomach, and she felt like crying. But she had an hour to pull herself together before she had to teach Physics 103 to a bunch of lazy sophomores. While her computer started up, she opened the newest journal that had been delivered to her mailbox on campus and smiled. Maybe there was something in here that Jake would be interested in. Not that she really expected him to keep stopping by. He would lose interest.
She skimmed the journal index, checking out the article topics as she logged into her school email account. And the newest email right up at the top was from jake.seresin. She pushed the journal aside and squealed as she opened it up, shocked that he had found a way to contact her again.
Dear Dr. Reed,
Thank you again for your excellent journal suggestions. I've read them all cover to cover, and I'm a little nervous to tell you that I think I've become a bit addicted to the subject matter. I find it fascinating to learn more about military aircrafts in general, but visiting your office hours has really piqued my interest in many other things as well.
I hope you don't mind that I plan on returning on Tuesday night. This time I'd like to try my hand at solving some of the physics equations with you. I'll bring a sharp pencil, but I'll probably skip the skateboard. You didn't seem too keen on that one, and I just find myself wanting you to be impressed by me.
Also, Jessica, this would be a lot easier over text, but I'll play along. For now. Looking forward to your office hours (and hopefully you are, too?).
Jake
P.S.- You should have seen how long it took me to actually type up this email. Your SDSU faculty photo has been continually distracting me for days, and I think I looked at it so long that my email timed out.
She screamed in delight. Jessica clapped her hands over her mouth, pushing her chair back from her desk, kicking her feet. She stared at the screen for a few seconds before she decided how she wanted to respond, and then she just went for it.

The Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) making her way down the Elizabeth River after departing the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
For a ship the size of a supercarrier, navigating the river is no small feat. A cloud of silt can be seen behind the carrier, stirred up by her massive screws. Tugs maintain close formation around the carrier, ready to step in if needed.
After navigating the river, the carrier will return to her base at Naval Station Norfolk at Hampton Roads.
At the top of the photo, the stern and upperworks of the Iowa class battleship USS Wisconsin (BB-64) can be seen.

Watched “Oppenheimer” last night, and I keep thinking about the scene with Gary Oldman as Truman. While I absolutely believe that Truman would have claimed all the credit & blame of dropping the bombs for himself, and also that Truman would have called Oppenheimer a cry baby and an s.o.b., I am struggling to think of Truman as being so naive that he thought that Russia would “never” develop their own bomb. I checked the reference — Ray Monk’s “Robert Oppenheimer” (2013) is the source for the scene, but I can’t get at his sources to see what he’s drawing from. McCullough’s “Truman” corroborates the cry baby comment and the blood-on-my-hands but not the “never” quote.
Do you have anything to hand about Truman’s belief in the Russian’s ability to build the bomb? How could anyone think that the Russians would “never” create a bomb?
In American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO), which I believe was one of Christopher Nolan's major inspirations for the film, Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin go into detail about that meeting between Truman and Oppenheimer and the scene in the film takes almost word-for-word what is written in the book. Truman is actually quoted in the book as saying "Never" after asking Oppenheimer when he thought the Russians would develop their own atomic bomb and not getting a response.
The sources that Bird and Sherwin list for that meeting and the "Never" comment are Nuel Pharr Davis in the 1968 book Lawrence and Oppenheimer, and Murray Kempton, who wrote about the meeting and the comment in the December 1983 issue of Esquire Magazine and his book Rebellions, Perversities, and Main Events. I haven't read either of those books, but I did read Kempton's Esquire article and he also directly quotes Truman as saying "Never".
I agree that it seems really naive of President Truman to not think the Soviets would ever develop their own nuclear weapons. The only possible explanation that I can imagine for that mindset was that the meeting between Truman and Oppenheimer that is portrayed in the film took place in real-life on October 25, 1945. (In Kempton's Esquire article, he says it took place in 1946, but he was mistaken because Bird and Sherwin researched Truman's Presidential appointment calendar and were able to pinpoint the correct date.) The U.S. dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and August 9, 1945, respectively. Japan surrendered on August 15 and the war officially ended when Japan signed the instrument of surrender on the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945. So, the meeting between Truman and Oppenheimer took place less than two months after the war finally ended. I can only imagine that Truman had still not fully shifted towards what the next conflict might be and was focused on trying to stabilize what was left of the world and mobilize the government in a different direction than it had been after 15 years of Depression, economic recovery, defense preparations, and fighting the war.
Plus, it's worth remembering that Truman didn't know anything about the existence of the American nuclear program until after President Roosevelt's sudden death thrust him into the White House and the military realized, "Oh shit, we should probably tell the new President that we're very close to building the most powerful weapon in the history of history!"
I don't think it was necessarily naivety on President Truman's part. I think, as Kempton suggests in the Esquire article, that is was just a fundamental lack of understanding by Truman that the Soviet Union didn't need Oppenheimer to build the bomb, especially since the war was now over and they wouldn't be under the time constraints or immediate pressures that made the work of the Manhattan Project so much more difficult. The knowledge was out there and the very fact that it had been proven by the Americans made it clear to the Russians and everyone else that it could be done. Harry S. Truman was a provincial politician from the outskirts of Kansas City who had a healthy dose of American Exceptionalism in him even before becoming a national figure, so the realities of nuclear physics were probably not easy for him to decipher.

The adults sat around their radios and cried. The children gathered outside in the dusty road and whispered their bewilderment. We were most surprised and disappointed that the emperor had spoken in a human voice.
- Kenzaburō Ōe, A Portrait of the Postwar Generation
On On 15 Aug. 1945, Hirohito announced the unconditional surrender to the United States. The future Nobel literature prize winner, Kenzaburō Ōe, was only ten years old when he heard the emperor of Japan on the radio.
Throughout Japanese history, the emperor had been viewed as a demi-god, remote from the populace. That tradition was shattered on this day (Tokyo time) in 1945 when Emperor Hirohito made a 673-word radio broadcast accepting the terms of the July 26th Potsdam Declaration. His announcement marked the first time commoners in Japan, with a few exceptions, had heard the emperor’s voice.
The declaration warned Japan that unless it accepted its terms of “unconditional surrender,” the nation would face “prompt and utter destruction.” The document was signed by President Harry S. Truman, British Prime Minister Churchill and Chiang Kai-shek, the Chinese Nationalist leader. It made no mention of Hirohito.
The Tokyo leadership, divided over how to proceed, dithered. One faction hoped the Soviet Union would broker a deal. (Instead, the Soviets declared war on Aug. 9, grabbing a share of the spoils.)
Truman responded by authorizing the dropping of an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on Aug. 6 and a second bomb on Nagasaki three days later. They devastated the two cities, killing an estimated 246,000 people in matters of seconds.
Hirohito (1901-89) began his broadcast by saying: “To our good and loyal subjects: After pondering deeply the general trends of the world and the actual conditions obtaining in our empire today, we have decided to effect a settlement of the present situation by resorting to an extraordinary measure. We have ordered our government to communicate to the governments of the United States, Great Britain, China and the Soviet Union that our empire accepts the provisions of their joint declaration.”
The emperor went on the say, falsely, that “we declared war on America and Britain out of our sincere desire to insure Japan’s self-preservation and the stabilisation of East Asia, it being far from our thought either to infringe upon the sovereignty of other nations or to embark upon territorial aggrandisement.
“But now the war has lasted for nearly four years. Despite the best that has been done by everyone - the gallant fighting of our military and naval forces, the diligence and assiduity of our servants of the state and the devoted service of our 100 million people - the war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan’s advantage, while the general trends of the world have all turned against her interest.
“Moreover, the enemy has begun to employ a new and most cruel bomb, the power of which to do damage is, indeed, incalculable, taking the toll of many innocent lives. Should we continue to fight, it would not only result in an ultimate collapse and obliteration of the Japanese nation, but also it would lead to the total extinction of human civilisation.”
Hirohito’s broadcast culminated in the signing of surrender documents on the foredeck of the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2, 1945.

A U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet, operating from the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group underway in the North Atlantic Ocean, intercepts two U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) B-1B Lancers as they enter the Canadian Air Defense Identification Zone, and again as they enter the Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Region, May 29, 2020. The intercepts were part of a U.S. Northern Command-led, large-scale homeland defense exercise. U.S. Northern Command's top priority is homeland defense, and leading complex multi-combatant command operations across multiple domains demonstrates USNORTHCOM’S readiness to defend the homeland regardless of COVID-19. The high-end homeland defense exercises are being executed by the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Neil Armstrong)

Pentagon officials revealed on 19 November that the USS Abraham Lincoln left the Red Sea “over the weekend,” ending a three-month deployment and leaving West Asia without a US carrier strike group for just the second time in over a year.
According to US officials, the USS Harry S. Truman strike group will reportedly move to the Mediterranean Sea from its current area of operations in the Atlantic near Portugal's Azores islands.
The USS Lincoln's withdrawal was announced seven days after Sanaa launched two major military operations against US warships in the Red Sea, reportedly thwarting a “large-scale aggression being prepared by the US and UK navies against Yemen.
“We targeted the US aircraft carrier Lincoln located in the Arabian Sea with several cruise missiles and drones while it was preparing to launch operations against our country. The operation successfully achieved its objectives,” armed forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahyaa Saree said on 12 November.
Two days later, Ansarallah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi revealed that the aircraft carrier was forced to retreat “hundreds of miles” away from the Yemeni coast as a result of the retaliatory attacks. “In some instances, the [US] aircraft carrier navigates close to certain African coastlines out of fear of being targeted,” the Yemeni resistance leader said.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) officials last week said there were no injuries, and no warships were damaged following the Yemeni attack, adding that US forces intercepted eight attack drones, five anti-ship ballistic missiles, and four anti-ship cruise missiles.

My MonsterVerse Elseworld Timeline
1933
The SS Wanderer sets sail on December 21st after shipping off from the New York Harbor with a crew consisting of captain Whilhelm Englehorn, film director Carl Denham, first mate and actor Jack Driscoll, and actress Ann Darrow.
On December 28th, contact with the Wanderer is lost.
1943
The battleship, USS Lawton falls under attack and is destroyed 200 miles off the coast of Pearl Harbor. At first believed to be the victim of a Japanese sub ambush, large scratches are found on her hull with the two survivors of the craft, Col. Lee Shaw and Lt. William Randa stating that what had attacked the ship was enormous and very much alive.
1944
Hank Marlow and Gunpei Ikari engage in a dogfight and crash land on Skull Island.
1945
End of WWII.
Germany surrenders following the suicide of Adolf Hitler.
Japan surrenders following the usage of the first two atomic bombs; Little Boy on Hiroshima and Fat Man on Nagasaki.
Two survivors of Hiroshima, brothers Daisuke and Eiji Serizawa, spot what is described as a winged, dragon-like figure flying in the air.
1946
Eiji Serizawa and his crew meet up with William Randa, Lee Shaw, and Keiko Miura following a distress call from the USS Deverich. They are subsequently attacked by the massive super-organism Eiji encountered the year before.
During the detonation of Operation: Crossroads, sailors report sighting a massive, dinosaur-like shape in the center of the blast but are dismissed as hallucinations.
Harry S. Truman announces the creation of Monarch, a secret joint American-Japanese coalition brought together to track down, study, and, if possible, eliminate creatures belonging to the order Biologica Fantastica. Eiji Serizawa, William Randa, Lee Shaw, and Keiko Miura are among the many people recruited into this organization.
Monarch receives word of the super-organism attacking countries within the Pacific Southwest. The creature is then named "Shinomura".
1947
Monarch along with a few ships lent by the US Navy chase Shinomura across the South Pacific until they lose sight of the creature on radar on April 17th. The only clue of its fate being a massive spike in radiation.
On Christmas Eve, the carcass of Shinomura washes up on the shores of Moansta Island, bearing what appear to be burn marks on its body. Eiji Serizawa determines it may have been slain in April by an apex predator.
Monarch loses contact with a base in Guam and discover the facility destroyed with the proof of the culprit being a massive, reptilian footprint.
Monarch labels the mystery creature "Subject-46".
Subject-46 reveals itself off the coast of Moansta Island on New Year's Eve where it destroys the US Navy fleet
1948-1954
Monarch and the US Navy initiate Operation: Hidden Blade in attempt to track down and destroy Subject-46.
Gen. Douglas MacArthur authorizes the use of Hydrogen bombs as means of combating Subject-46. These detonations are disguised as tests to the public.
Subject-46 is eventually lured to the Bikini Atoll on March 1st where it is exposed to the most powerful H-Bomb in the US arsenal: Shrimp.
With Subject-46 seemingly killed, Operation Hidden Blade is deemed a success.
1954
In late August, off the coast of Odo Island, the Eiko-Maru sends an SOS before contact is subsequently lost. The Bingo-Maru is sent to investigate before contact is also lost. The last message from the Bingo-Maru being "The sea is burning".
At night, Odo Island falls under attack by a large organism. The villagers pin the blame on a dragon god of their folklore, Gojira.
Dr. Kyohei Yamane and his daughter Emiko arrive on the island where they, and the greater public come face to face with a very much alive Subject-46 for the first time.
Monarch is brought to the forefront for their expertise on Subject-46, now labelled Titanus Gojira (or Godzilla) after the Odo Island legend. However, the greater Japanese government decides to keep Godzilla's existence from the public and attempts to kill the creature via depth charges despite Doctor Yamane's arguments the creature should be studied. Lee Shaw was heard commenting "If hydrogen bombs can't hurt him, what good will depth charges be?"
Godzilla survives the depth charge assault and follows the JSDF fleet back to Tokyo Bay.
On November 2nd, Godzilla emerges from Tokyo Bay and attacks Shinigawa before returning to the sea. A total of eight to nine hundred people are killed and a thousand are injured.
The Americans propose establishing a wall of electrical towers to deter Godzilla while the JSDF preps their forces for the first time.
G-DAY: In a day that will live on in infamy, Godzilla emerges from Tokyo Bay on the night of November 3rd and makes his way inland toward Tokyo. He is stopped momentarily by the electrical towers but, it is short-lived as he utilizes a devastating oral blast of atomic radiation and makes short work of the JSDF defense line. Unopposed, Godzilla makes his way into Tokyo and proceeds to set the city aflame before returning to Tokyo Bay.
The following morning, Monarch and the JSDF determine a grand total of thirty to forty thousand military and civilian casualties with a steadily climbing number, four hundred thousand missing in action, and a million wounded or dying.
Emiko Yamane then exposes the existence of the Oxygen Destroyer, a compound created by Daisuke Serizawa. After initially refusing to utilize the weapon, Serizawa changes his mind following a televised prayer for peace but only pledges to use it once on Godzilla. After burning the blueprints and formula for his creation, he and Odo Island native Shinkichi Morita, descend into Tokyo Bay to find a dormant Godzilla. Shinkichi returns to the surface but Serizawa remains to detonate the Oxygen Destroyer, seemingly taking Godzilla with him. However, despite the seeming victory, humanity is left with a harrowing and distressing revelation: Monsters are real and humans are not the dominant species on the planet.
1964
During the Vietnam War, a platoon of soldiers report a village torn to shreds. Monarch theorizes that a MUTO (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) was the culprit.
A US outpost, Hell's Mouth, reports seismic activity 60 miles outside of Hanoi. According to them, the epicenter "appears to be moving". Contact with Hell's Mouth is lost two hours later.
1965
Seismic activity is cited in Isla De Mara's volcano, El Nido del Demonio. The natives of the island pin the blame on a creature of their folklore, Rodan.
On December 3rd, villagers outside of the Tunguska River report a giant creature. Monarch outposts in the area confirm the sightings and label the creature Anguirus, after a creature of Russian folklore, Angira.
Monarch agents, twin sisters Mei and Lee Chen stumble upon a hidden cavern in Infant Island, a micro-continent near Indonesia, depicting cave drawings of various MUTO specimens, including Godzilla as well as an egg the Islanders refer to as Mosura. According to the drawings, Mosura, or Mothra, is a patron goddess of peace and rebirth. The twins determine the drawings to be older than even the Babylonian Empire.
1967
A large influx of MUTO sightings occur around the world with Ebirah in Boston, Kamacuras in Hong Kong, Manda off the coast of Osaka, Varan in Hokkaido, Baragon 200 miles from Paris, Gorosaurus in the Cradle of Humankind, Kumonga 200 miles away from the Mexico-Arizona border, and Zilla in the Australian Outback.
1969
At this point in time, eight MUTOs are active but have not turned their rage on humans. This all changes when Gezora attacks the fishing ship, Sergio, in the Bering Sea, marking the first recorded hostile MUTO attack since G-Day.
Rodan emerges from El Nido del Demonio and destroys half of Isla De Mara. Due to being caught off guard, a good thousand people are killed in the wake of the MUTO's awakening. Mexican air forces are dispatched but are unable to catch up to the pterosaur-like MUTO due to her bio-volcanic acceleration.
1971
Two hominid MUTOs, Sanda and Gaira, appear in China. Gaira feeds on civilians before being intercepted by Sanda. The two MUTOs, codenamed the Gargantuas, proceed to fight one another before attracting the attention of Varan and Rodan. After a fierce fight, Rodan is injured and forced to retreat while Varan and Gaira fly off with Sanda in pursuit.
As of 1971, twelve MUTOs are deemed active.
1973
The US abandons the Vietnam War.
Operation: Skull: LandSat images reveal the presence of Skull Island. In response to this discovery, William Randa manages to convince Senator Brian Willis for a large scale expedition to Skull Island. Among the crew on the expedition are veteran Monarch agents, William Randa, Keiko Randa née Miura, and Lee Shaw, newcomer agents San Lin and Houston Brooks, tracker James Conrad, photographer Mason Weaver, LandSat agents Victor Nieves and Steve Woodward, and the Sky Devil aerial regiment. After arriving on the island, the naval escort flagship Athena loses contact with the expedition for two and a half days before retrieving Keiko, James, San, Houston, Mason, three surviving members of the Sky Devils (Reg Slivko, Glenn Mills, and Joe Reles), Lee, and Hank Marlow from a makeshift boat built out of Mustang and Zero parts. During debriefing, the survivors recall their harrowing ordeals on Skull Island; During the seismic charge run, they were ambushed by the island's apex monster, a giant simian labeled "Kong". The survivors of the initial attack were split into two groups: James Conrad, Lee Shaw, Houston Brooks, Keiko Randa, San Lin, Reg Slivko, Victor Nieves, and Mason Weaver on one side of the island, while Lt. Col. Preston Packard, the remaining Sky Devils, except for Maj. Jack Chapman, Packard's second-in-command who had been separated following Kong's attack, Steve Woodward, and William Randa on another. During this time they had discovered Skull Island was a thriving ecosystem of MUTOs, not just Kong. Conrad and his group encountered the Iwi, one of the island's native tribes along with Hank Marlow who, along with Gunpei Ikari, had been found and taken in by the tribe and it was revealed Kong's purpose was to maintain order and balance on Skull Island. When the two groups met up, Packard was insistent on finding his co-officer. Their search led them to the Valley of the Fallen Gods, a burial place for members of Kong's species and the hunting ground of an invasive reptomorph species named Skullcrawlers in competition with Kong and the giant theropods called Tyrannosaurus Imperator. However, it had turned out Packard's motivation had been a lie; Chapman had already been consumed by one of the Skullcrawlers, his real plan was to kill Kong in revenge for the slaughter of his men with an encounter with one of the creatures resulting in William's death. During a fierce stand-off between Conrad's group to protect Kong, a mature Skullcrawler dubbed "the Big One" by Marlow, attacked. As Kong prepared to do battle with the beast, he crushed Packard beneath his fist. The battle carried over in the early morning with it finally ending in Kong killing the Big One by shoving his fist down its throat and crushing its insides.
William Randa is given a memorial attended by Keiko and their son Hiroshi, Lee Shaw, and Eiji Serizawa.
Despite the casualties, Monarch sees Operation: Skull as a major turning point for their organization.
1980
Eiji Serizawa is diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer and is forced into an early retirement. He returns to Tokyo and is cared for by his son, Ishiro, in his final days.
Studies from Operation: Skull reveal signs of a subterranean air pocket beneath Skull Island after a thorough investigation.
Pieces of skin are sighted in the Sea of Japan. They are later identified as Godzilla's skin, leading to the theory Godzilla might still be alive. This is later dismissed but the skin samples are collected and placed into the Monarch vault.
1981
Eiji Serizawa passes away. Ishiro Serizawa is recruited by Lee Shaw and Keiko Miura.
Lee Shaw volunteers for Project: Freefall to investigate the possible existence of a "Hollow Earth". He, along with five others, Juniper Banerjee, Erik Valshim, Kuro Ishibara, Li Quan, and Hank Rayner are sent into a hole similar to the ones on Skull Island. After four hours, contact is lost with the drop vessel and the crew is declared deceased.
A memorial service is held for the lost pilots.
1984
After thirty years, Tokyo Bay finally recovers from the Oxygen Destroyer's detonation. Fishing resumes for the first time since 1954.
The Japanese mainland loses contact with the fishing vessel Yahata Maru after a distress signal is sent out.
1985
Monarch Scientist Genshiro Shiragami and his daughter, Erika, are assigned to study the Godzilla skin samples. However, the research facility is attacked and destroyed by Baragon. While Dr. Shiragami survives, Erika is not so lucky as she, along with one hundred twelve faculty members and military are killed in the attack.
Out of grief, Genshiro retires early from Monarch.
In what little research Monarch is able to recover, it is discovered that Godzilla's cells are capable of rapid regeneration, leading more credence to the theory Godzilla might have survived the Oxygen Destroyer. Monarch higher-ups decide to keep this a secret from the general public as to not start a panic.
1989
Dr. Shiragami begins conducting experiments to keep Erika's soul alive by implanting pieces of her DNA into a rose. When the rose begins to die, Shiragami attempts to keep it alive. After remembering G-Cells are capable of regeneration, he injects the rose with samples of Godzilla's tissue.
Monarch discovers Shiragami has gone rogue and sends troops to detain him. The soldiers are then subsequently attacked and mauled by peculiar vines tipped with Venus Flytrap-like mouths. It is soon discovered the rose/human/Godzilla hybrid has grown to a substantial size. Monarch offers a peace deal with Shiragami to move the rose, dubbed "Biollante" to Lake Ashinoko where she is allowed to grow.
Biollante grows to a size double to Godzilla and displays highly aggressive behavior. This prompts Monarch to destroy the genetically engineered MUTO, despite Shiragami's protests.
Monarch attempts to destroy Biollante using an experimental new weapon: The Maser Cannon. After seemingly killing Biollante, the MUTO proceeds to mutate into a larger, more Godzilla-like form and becomes mobile. Biollante then moves out of Lake Ashi and starts heading for the Pacific Ocean.
Monarch begins pursuit of Biollante but their efforts are hampered due to a typhoon. Biollante ceases movement.
Another MUTO is sighted on radar and does battle with Biollante. Eyewitness accounts describe the MUTO aggressively going after Biollante with the fight ending with Biollante disappearing underground. According to eyewitnesses, the culprit was Godzilla. Monarch and the Japanese government shrug off the report and assume Zilla was the creature responsible for driving off Biollante.
Dr. Shiragami is put into Monarch custody for his unadvised G-Cell experiments. He subsequently takes his own life in his cell.
1991
Rodan returns to the Demon's Nest.
1993
A renegade group of cryptozoologists are attacked by an unknown MUTO. The survivors wash up on the shores of Skull Island where they encounter a young woman named Annie and a large, canine-like MUTO named "Dog". The MUTO in question, a cephalopod-type dubbed Kraken, apparently arrived on Skull Island to challenge Kong for control of the island, going so far as to kill a tribe descended from Spanish explorers he had formed a connection with as means of goading him into a fight. After a fierce battle, Kong is able to kill Kraken and retain his dominion of Skull Island.
1996
Aaron Brooks, the son of Houston Brooks and San Lin-Brooks, embarks on an unauthorized expedition to Skull Island. Contact is lost.
1999
Doctors Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham are called to a mining facility in the Philippines after reports of a deadly cave-in. After investigating, they discover the skeleton belonging to Godzilla's species labeled "Dagon". They also discover a pair of spores of an unknown MUTO species within the skeleton, one of the spores being found broken open.
Monarch tracks the newborn MUTO to Janjira, Japan.
The MUTO causes a meltdown in the Janjira nuclear power plant. Due to being caught off guard, the plant faculty are barely able to evacuate. Among the fatalities is Sandra Brody while her husband Joe and son Ford are evacuated from the prefecture.
Monarch is criticized for not being able to warn the public in time.
The new MUTO cocoons itself in the remains of the nuclear plant and proceeds to feed on the radiation.
2005
Due to their bio-sonic research, Emma and Mark Russell are recruited into Monarch's ranks.
Alan Jonah is arrested in Pakistan for tampering with a MUTO research facility.
2012
Houston Brooks discovers Aaron's recordings and plans a visit to Skull Island.
Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham are assigned to the MUTO cocoon in Janjira.
Houston and San are reunited with Aaron.
2014
Joe Brody is caught trying to enter into the Janjira Nuclear Plant. Ford is called in to bail out his estranged father only to get roped into infiltrating the Q-Zone. Both men are arrested for trespassing. Joe is brought in for questioning. The new MUTO, having finished feeding on the reactor core breaks loose and destroys the facility. Among the fatalities are Gregory Whelan and Joe Brody.
On the day after, Biollante reemerges in Janjira and claims it as her territory.
The Return: The new MUTO, dubbed Philimuto (after the Philippines from where it first hatched), arrives in Honolulu, Hawaii where it engages with the US military and Monarch forces. Soon, a large organism is sighted heading straight for Philimuto. To the shock of both Monarch and the United States, the organism is Godzilla, having survived the Oxygen Destroyer. Godzilla chases after Philimuto before cornering him in Honolulu National Airport where the two monsters proceed to clash all of Honolulu. Philimuto breaks off the fight and flies off with Godzilla in hot pursuit. This marks the first time Godzilla made landfall in American soil as the world reels from his return.
The second MUTO spore, a female, breaks out of Yucca Mountain, destroying Las Vegas in the process, seemingly tracking Philimuto.
A plan is forged to lure all three MUTOs (Godzilla, Philimuto, and Yuccamuto) with a nuclear bomb and detonate. Ishiro Serizawa advises not following through with the plan due to Godzilla surviving the H-Bomb and Oxygen Destroyer in 1954 but is ignored.
Yuccamuto intercepts the nuclear warheads and consumes two of them while the third is lost.
The Battle of San Francisco: Godzilla arrives in the rendezvous point of all three MUTOs: San Francisco. He proceeds to lay waste to the military units deployed in the city, going so far as to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge, before making his way into the harbor. Philimuto and Yuccamuto arrive soon after, with Philimuto managing to steal the final warhead that was retrofitted with an analogue, clockwork timer. All three monsters proceed to battle into the night while a HALO insurgency team drops in to retrieve the missing warhead. After a long, and arduous battle, Godzilla manages to kill both MUTOs before collapsing from exhaustion. Meanwhile, Ford Brody, the only survivor of the operation, manages to get the warhead away from San Francisco where it detonates in the open ocean with prevailing winds keeping the fall-out away from the city. The next day, Godzilla reawakens and returns to the sea while survivors of San Francisco breathe a sigh of relief. Among the fatalities is ten-year-old Andrew Russell, Doctors Emma and Mark Russell's son.
Monarch is chewed out by the public for knowing about Godzilla's survival since the 1980's, not helped by Ishiro Serizawa's theory that Godzilla's regenerative capabilities allowed him to survive the Oxygen Destroyer. Director Nicole Verdugo is fired for her poor handling of the Return and Battle of San Francisco and Ishiro Serizawa is appointed director of Monarch
Monarch separates MUTOs into two terms: Titan (in reference to creatures like Godzilla, Kong etc) and Superspecies (in reference to every other creature)
Godzilla comes into contact with Titanus Jinshin-Mushi, a parental subspecies of Philimuto and Yuccamuto. After three encounters, Godzilla finally kills Jinshin-Mushi but his dorsal fins are shattered in the process.
Monarch and Apex Cybernetics strike a deal that leads to the mass-production of the MOGUERA (Mobile Operation Gigafauna Universal Expert Robot Aero-type) Units in order to combat Godzilla and any other rogue Titan.
2016
Vivienne Graham is called over to supervise Outpost 32 where a strange Titan is discovered in the ice. The Titan is dubbed "Monster Zero" in reference to its unknown physiology. In an interview, she was later heard quoting, "The Devil has three heads".
A Sub-Titan dubbed Gabara is sighted in the Brazilian rainforest torturing crocodiles and humans before being mortally wounded by thermite charges. Gabara is finished off by the same crocodiles it was torturing.
Monarch discovers the remains of a reptavian Titan in the Himalayas. The creature is brought to Monarch and given the moniker "Gigan".
A new strain of toxin-eating bacteria is uncovered at the base of Mt. Fuji. The strain is labeled Hedrium Fujinosai.
2017
Keiko Randa passes away in her sleep. A funeral is held and attended by her son Hiroshi, her daughter-in-law Caroline, her grandson Kentaro, and granddaughter Cate. At this point, the Old Guard of Monarch (William Randa, Lee Shaw [supposedly], Eiji Serizawa, and Keiko Randa-Miura) is no more.
Apex Cybernetics CEO Walter Simmons approaches Monarch for permission to augment Gigan with experimental cyber attachments. Monarch at first refuses, but after an attack made by Godzilla on Hokkaido the next day, they accept.
Godzilla arrives in Cairo, Egypt when he is intercepted by the newly augmented Gigan. The two Titans fight, during which Gigan is able to land several well timed strikes on Godzilla and causes him to bleed. Godzilla is able to gain the upper hand and Gigan is pulled back but not before Godzilla returns to the sea to recover.
Gigan is subsequently repaired and readied for the next match against Godzilla or any other Titan.
2018
The Hedrium Fujinosai is deployed to clean up garbage only for the colony to go out of control and evolve into a single organism. The new Titan then breaks free after assuming a flying form and kills several hundred people. The Titan is later named "Hedorah". Monarch loses sight of Hedorah.
After two years, the MOGUERA Units are fully completed and two hundred strong in number.
2019
Monarch moves Mothra's egg to an unknown structure in the Yunnan Rainforest dubbed "The Temple of the Moth", a structure seemingly built by the Houtua, the residents of Infant Island. Emma Russell and her daughter Madison are stationed in Outpost 61 and placed in charge of Mothra. During this time, Mothra hatches and seems to go on a rampage due to sabotage in the facility. The facility is then attacked by Alan Jonah and his terrorist cell, the Hyenas and Emma and Madison are kidnapped. Mothra then escapes and cocoons herself for metamorphosis.
The Hyenas, with both Russell girls in tow, head over to Outpost 32 and are then tracked by Monarch, along with Mark Russell. It is soon discovered that Emma is in cahoots with Jonah and the Hyenas and they plan to use a bio-sonic device, the Organic Reverberation Communications Amplifier (or ORCA for short) to communicate and awaken any Titans still in hibernation to kickstart a new age of coexistence between humans and Titans. Outpost 32 is destroyed and Monster Zero is awakened. Godzilla soon arrives and the two Titans proceed to fight with Monster Zero gaining the upper hand and escaping. Dr. Vivienne Graham, and several members of G-Team (Monarch's spec-ops division) are among the casualties.
Monarch traces Monster Zero to Isla De Mara via a mobile tropical depression created by the Titan. Monster Zero arrives and proceeds to clash with Rodan before overpowering the avian Titan. Godzilla arrives soon after and proceeds to fight Monster Zero in the city. During the fight, Godzilla manages to tear off one of Monster Zero's heads and brings the battle to the sea but is overpowered when the multi-headed Titan drains Godzilla of his bio-energy and manages to regrow his lost head before seemingly being killed by a particularly powerful blast of energy from the golden dragon. Unopposed, Monster Zero flies to the Demon's Nest and lets loose an Alpha Roar, riling up the Earth's active Titans as well as a few Titans reported dormant being awakened by the call. During this time, seven Titans from the Hollow Earth (Behemoth, Tiamat, Amhuluk, Na Kika, Scylla, Mokele-Mbembe, and Camazotz) are drawn to the surface and add to the global destruction. On Skull Island, Kong is unaffected by the Alpha Call but several Skullcrawlers are drawn to it and attempt to leave the island but are stopped. Surprisingly enough, Biollante remains in Janjira.
An upgraded Gigan is deployed against Monster Zero (now identified as King Ghidorah based on ancient scriptures) but is overpowered and seemingly reprogrammed to serve the three-headed Titan.
The Awakening War/Reign of Ghidorah: Over the next three days, humans and Titans engage in battles all over the world with each encounter ending in tragedy, all the while a Category 6 hurricane, the first of its kind. Numerous cities are destroyed. The MOGUERA Units are deployed to combat the rampaging Titans, however, all but two units are subsequently destroyed. However, salvation comes on the third day when Anguirus attacks Outpost 61 at which, Mothra hatches from her cocoon in her imago state. After a brief standoff, Mothra calms the armored Titan using a pollen-like powder from her wings which seems to break Ghidorah's control over Anguirus. Both Mothra and Anguirus depart the Yunnan Rainforest, seemingly in search of Godzilla. A new Titan named Megalon arrives in Okinawa but is beaten back by a leonine-canine Titan named King Caesar. Monarch discovers Godzilla is still alive after listening to Mothra and Godzilla's communications. Emma Russell, guilty of the damage she caused, sneaks out of a Hyena occupied Monarch bunker along with Madison. Mark Russell along with Ishiro Serizawa, Ilene Chen, Emma, Madison, and Rick Stanton follow Anguirus into an underwater Hollow Earth Vile Vortex while the USS Argo, a massive flying wing base of operations engages Ghidorah, Rodan, and Gigan. Anguirus leads the USS Scorpion to an underwater city Godzilla has turned into a lair. Due to damage sustained from entering the Vile Vortex, the Scorpion's weapon systems cannot be used and the nuclear warheads needed to revive Godzilla have to be detonated manually. Ishiro Serizawa volunteers himself and enters Godzilla's lair where he is immediately affected by the temple's radiation. In his last breath, Serizawa detonates the warheads and sacrifices himself to Godzilla in order to save the world, like his uncle Daisuke before him. Godzilla is revived and supercharged by the ensuing nuclear blast.
The Battle of Boston: A plan is devised to retrieve the ORCA from the Boston Monarch Bunker. G-Team along with Mark and Emma invade the bunker. However, Alan Jonah and the Hyenas were anticipating this and activate the ORCA to attract the Titans to Boston. During the ensuing firefight, Emma is mortally injured. Gigan, Rodan, and Ghidorah arrive in Boston and destroy the bunker, Alan Jonah is pronounced deceased. As Emma dies in Mark's arms, Godzilla, Mothra, and Anguirus arrive along with Monarch and US military forces and a three-on-three Titan battle ensues; Godzilla against Ghidorah, Anguirus against Gigan, and Mothra against Rodan. Anguirus is wounded by Gigan but manages to dispatch the cyborg Titan, while Mothra is able to incapacitate Rodan with her calming powder but becomes exhausted, leaving only Godzilla to contend with Ghidorah. Monarch notices Godzilla radiation levels reaching critical mass due to Serizawa's sacrifice. While, at first, Ghidorah has the upper hand, Godzilla, instead of going critical, channels the extra radiation into a more powerful red variant of his Atomic Breath which sends Ghidorah crashing into the sea, seemingly killing him. Gigan retreats from Boston while Rodan recovers. At this point, the Titans under Ghidorah's influence gather around Godzilla and proceed to bow to him, signalling his return as King of the Monsters. After roaring in victory, Godzilla disappears into the Atlantic Ocean where he is not seen for two years.
Richard Guillermin is appointed director of Monarch in the wake of Ishiro's passing.
2021
Apex uncovers what appears to be a giant automaton resembling Godzilla in the Gobi Desert and brings it back to their Hong Kong facility in hopes it might replace Gigan who had remained AWOL since the Battle of Boston two years prior.
The Great Cleanup: Six of the seven Hollow Earth Titans remain on the surface world. Mokele-Mbembe returns to the Hollow Earth. Godzilla contends with Scylla in Georgia after the cephalopod/crustacean Titan tried to feed on a live warhead before driving her off. Behemoth takes up residence in the Amazon Rainforest and proceeds to repair the damage caused during the Awakening War but is ambushed by Amhuluk. Godzilla manages to drive away the invading Titan. Godzilla, whilst coming upon a former lair, is ambushed by Tiamat. Contact with Godzilla is lost but Tiamat is seen retreating.
As brothers David and Nathan Lind prepare to train pilots for a Hollow Earth expedition, Camazotz attempts to lay claim to Skull Island, rousing the anger of Kong. After a fierce battle Kong is able to gain the upper hand over the bat-like Titan and sends him into the Vile Vortex with his Hell Spawn following him.
2022
Apex begins retrofitting the discovered automaton (dubbed Mechagodzilla) and discovers the technology is thousands of years older than even the most ancient civilization. After sharing their findings with Monarch, they are labeled the First Civilization.
The remaining six Hollow Earth Titans return to their subterranean ecosystem.
David and Nathan Lind's squadron attempt to enter the Hollow Earth through a Vile Vortex in Antarctica. Contact is lost although pictures of the Hollow Earth are shown. The operation is deemed a failure. Monarch cancels all planned expeditions to the Hollow Earth until a new machine can be built.
2023
Mechagodzilla is fully retrofitted with human technology and begins testing. However, it is deemed unlikely for launch unless a suitable power source can be found.
Humanity experiences a lull in Titan attacks.
2024
After a year of low Titan activity, Godzilla reappears in Pensacola, Florida and causes tremendous damage.
Apex faces pressure to launch Mechagodzilla as soon as possible but is unable to without a viable power source. This is soon solved a week after Godzilla's Pensacola attack with shards of glowing crystals are found within the Brazilian Rainforest. The substance, dubbed Hollow Blood, is sampled with a portion shipped off to Hong Kong to be used as a potential energy source for Mechagodzilla.
Eager to show Mechagodzilla's prowess in battle, Walter Simmons, CEO of Apex, uses a beacon to summon Godzilla to Hong Kong where he personally pilots the the automaton against the King of the Monsters. While at first holding fairly well against Godzilla, Godzilla manages to turn the tide of battle and destroys Mechagodzilla, killing Walter Simmons with it.
Ren Serizawa and Maia Simmons, Walter's daughter, assume command of Apex and are forced to face criticism from Walter's ego-fueled clash with Godzilla.
2025
Dr. Goro Ibuki begins construction on a secret project built around a strange, self-replicating alloy found in Mount Fuji. The metal is the same alloy that was used for Mechagodzilla.
Marutomo Mining Company drill teams are attacked by a mysterious, Mothra-like Titan dubbed Battra who is later revealed to be Mothra's more aggressive brother. Mothra battles her brother but their clash is interrupted by Godzilla who is later driven off by both Titans.
2027
