So it seems pretty obvious — to me, at least — that I love black and violet, especially together. Especially if it’s a lavander-sque, reminiscent of lavender-toned violet. Yesterday I made a post about receiving a beautiful gift, and here’s the light and dark of it from last night and today.
I have to say, this wig is incredible. It’s long and ultra thick, and absolutely sheens when freshly brushed. But it got dark the night before last (October 23rd 2018), and so did my makeup. After teasing my natural hair just a tiny bit so that the combs inside the cap of the wig had something to hold onto, I fitted the lavender waterfall of goodness onto my head, fitting the hairline down against my own using Drybar hairspray, The Warden. Then I prepared my tools:
Beauty Blender, dampened with warm water
Morphe M104 Angled Blush Brush
Quo All-Over Shadow Brush
Kat Von D Angled Brow Brush #75
and my makeup:
MAC Studio Fix SPF 15 Foundation NW10
Santee Cosmetics Shimmer Blush, 04
Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil, Wizard
NYX Cosmetics, Milk Shadow Primer
Kat Von D Chrysalis Eyeshadow Palette, Specifically Transition on my brow and Hybrid Moments on my lid
Sephora Collection Extravagant Lashes, Vivacious #34 & Duo Dark Latex Free Lash Glue
Milk Cosmetics Kush Mascara w/ Cannabis Oil
MAC Kohl Liner, Feline
This was how the makeup ended up, after adding a black flowered hairband and some good lighting and angles, and then I went into removal process.
Lashes were the first to come off, peeled gently from the outside corner in, and placed into their tray after carefully cleaning the glue off with tweezers. This left a full face of makeup, plus the wig to take care of, and the word for both how I treated myself and how I treated my accessories, was care. The last few days have been stressful and difficult with health appointments and issues, so to treat myself nicely was essential.
The products that worked best for me, for this particular makeup removal, are what I like to call my ‘Epic Cleanse,’ or luxury cleanse. Deluxe cleanse. The cleanse with All The Steps. This was the one that leaves my skin most comfortable after slamming on some long-wearing, dark makeup and hairspraying a wig to my hairline, and the steps go something like this:
Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm with Echinacea, massaged in every nook and cranny on my face until all the makeup was dissolved; this took about thirty seconds.
The oil-based, makeup-filled residue on my skin was removed with Dead Sea Salt Towelettes, until my skin was fresh and moist, all makeup gone.
I balanced the pH of my skin with a spritz or two of Caudalie Eau De Beauté, and patted it lightly against my face.
Two drops of Farsáli Volcanic Elixir was blended together with LaNeige Water Bang Gel-Creme, just a fingertip full. This is massaged into my complexion and neck to finish up taking care of my skin.
Lastly, a big glass of water, a visit to the loo, and off to bed.
Yesterday morning started late; I woke up at ten of seven, looked at the clock, thought too early! and went back to sleep. Then, suddenly, I was awake again, coffee was ready, and it was a minute to eleven. I climbed out of bed, visited the loo again, and settled into what kind of face I’d like to make. To start out with, I went with the same colour palette and products as yesterday. This allowed me to get through the things I needed to do, and wear my awesome rug. I sent pictures to my girlfriends and invite them over to try it on, too.
I tagged the band Ministry on their social media, proclaming my Canadian pride. And again, when it got dark, so did my makeup. I only added onto this look rather than taking everything off and starting over, and this was what’s New And Groovy on Sarah’s Face:
Additional tools:
a clean all-over shadow brush
sponge-tipped shadow applicators
Additonal makeup:
Urban Decay Oz-Glinda Palette, using Tornado to redefine my brows, and Oz 2 (Ice Colour) slammed heavily into the inside corners of my eyes.
BYS Festival 20-Shadow Palette in the crease to define the Liar from Naked 3 on my lid
a significant amount of MAC’s Hyper Real Foundation in Violet
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Liner, Rockstar
Kat Von D’s Everlasting Lip, LUV
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar, Lovecraft
The final product ended up looking quite different in different lights: In the first photo, the MAC Violet is apparent on my complexion, in the second one, the violet combinations of LUV and Lovecraft (LUV-craft?) look pink by comparison to the dusty colour of the wig in the second. The third, the contour is apparent alongside the epic smooch for you, who has stopped by the site to say hi and see what I’m up to. Much Love. xoxo, Sarah
Lavande et Noir So it seems pretty obvious -- to me, at least -- that I love black and violet, especially together.
