Hi hello I know this is my second ask today but I've been doodling during lectures and I'm infected with brain rot so-

question about your sunvent, does he view himself above or below the others in the kingdom? does he view himself as a suffering for his savior high priest who has been blessed with the right to care for a god? or an unworthy servant who was just (un)lucky to work in a castle?

also, how would eclipse feel if he found out sunvent was treated better or worse by the kingdoms inhabitants? Would he laugh if they belittle him, would be praised by them treating him like a high figure? have there been executions for treason because someone tried to spread rumors about the castles faithful librarian?

1) He views himself as equal to the others!! He knows that he is typically regarded as a higher being, like he's some sort of link between themselves and Lord Eclipse, but he can't bring himself to share to sentiment much.

His feelings of his position can change wildly at any moment because of his own feelings + what Lord Eclipse tells him his feelings should be (which can also change depending on how he's trying to make Sun feel), so it's a messy tangle of "I'm the perfect servant, I'm the only one who can care for our lord, I have been chosen and I have to make sure I don't make Him regret it" and "I'm just a mortal. I'm just another face in the crowd. I don't know what I'm really doing here, but fuck, I'll do it I guess."

I think if Sun was treated better? Lord Eclipse would not be thrilled about that. He'd get jealous and view it as heresy, going out of hiding way to plant ideas in his followers mind's that Sun isn't as sweet and perfect as he seems. Sun is not the lord of this realm, he does not need to be the favored of the two.

If Sun was treated worse? I think he'd find it funny until it started to affect Sun's ability to serve. Like, small jabs and taunts or even like people tripping or bumping into him? I think Lord Eclipse would be like teehee. thats what u get. idiot. and then once Sun's bad mental health starts to distract him from tasks or someone actually injures him, I think he'd take matters into his own hands.

i’m chapter 2 komaeda gives this big speech about how people who aren’t “chosen” to be talented or symbols of hope will never become worthy. how would that connect to how he sees izuru kamukura, and the kamukura project as a whole? because that project is essentially artificial talent— an Ultimate Hope created in a lab.

I just see most people assuming that he’s worship him or something as an ultimate hope, but it’s something I think about a lot idk

OKAY, SO, I'VE ACTUALLY BEEN THINKING ABOUT THAT RECENTLY TOO LOLOLOL??? Also it is an honor to be called the komaeda phd on your dash LMAO

People hearing this probably would assume he'd hate Izuru for disrespecting the hierarchy, but that doesn't seem to be the case? Unfortunately we don't fully know if in Chapter 4 Nagito knows the full extent of the project, and in the anime he has no clue who Izuru is until he shows up and gives him gay panic which doesn't give much clarification lol. Like, It's implied he knows about the project but it's never really clarified to what extent which is a little confusing. If he does know he still treats Izuru fine after waking up, so I don't really think he has any gripes Izuru's existence?

In fact, Nagito is shown to be extremely fond of Izuru and this idea is pushed often?

If he had any gripe specifically with the person being tempered with maybe he'd be upset with Hajime for messing with the hierarchy? He's more upset at Hajime in Chapter 4 because he feels betrayed and is conflicted. He's confused on why he cares about a despair inducing terrorist, let alone a person who barely means anything.

He could be upset about him disrespecting the hierarchy too, but that's never really clarified and may not likely? There's nothing really implying he has distaste for the project at all honestly. I wonder if he doesn't really see any issue with it or if he just somehow doesn't know the finer details. If he has no issue with it maybe he thinks it's an exception or special case because he is a lab rat for hope's peak and they're very capable?

Basically in short, we have no clue what he thinks about the project specifically or if he knows all the details. If he knows, we don't really see him be distasteful or positive about that specific aspect of it and he might not even care too much? It's a little messy with the details overall. At the end of the day he seems to be extremely fond of Izuru and care dearly for Hajime, despite everything I don't think the concept of the project interrupts or overrides any of that Lol.

Okay, so I finally finished the big fic rec project! I'm excited about having it posted at last, it took approximately forever to do, and I still have to go back and properly read everything I speed-read because I want to leave comments. The only problem is that I have no idea how collections work on Ao3. But the Tumblr post is done, and that's the important part! Every single fic and series on there is also in my Google bookmarks folder and properly labelled, so if anything spontaneously combusts, we're all good. But heaven forbid I have to go through and format that all over again.

Anyway, we're onto today's brainrot which is kind of the whole point of this. I've been thinking about Hyrule and his cooking (again) and come to two conclusions:

First one being that it'd be funny if the reason he was bad at cooking was because he was a time traveler or something and just stuck with the Civil War and/or WWI/WWII era recipes he grew up on. What prompted this idea? Absolutely nothing. No thoughts, head empty. Like, look, I know Wild's supposed to be the one that's behind on the times, but I think he'd adapt to the modern world fairly well given everything that happens in his games. Hyrule? Hyrule doesn't care. He would just do what he's always done because it's tried and true.

Second one being that he's totally the guy that knows what is edible and then just eats it. Casually snacks on plants while they're hiking, only to look like a deer caught in headlights when the others realize what's happening. Always looking out the windows in the car and then comments on the roadkill and whether it looks salvageable. His yard is a mess and there's an actual garden in there somewhere, but no one can find it, and he doesn't really care because as long as there's edible stuff out there it's good enough. He's also just casually prepared for hiking and the apocalypse at a moment's notice for no particular reason. Seth looks up from his woodworking, casting a suspicious look between them. Sarah and Ces exchange glances, trying to suppress their giggles

"I know this look, you two are definitely up to good", he says

"Well,see here-" Ces starts, before being interrupted by Sarah.

"If ur idea of no good is us making you have a self care day with us, then yeah, we are up to no good", she declares, looking at him, challenging him to object. He looks at her in disbelief.

"A self care day? Sarah, I'm 35, and besides I'm perfectly fi-"

"Literally no one's buying that dad, we've all seen how stresses you are lately, and besides, how bad can it be? Don't you wanna spend time with us?", Cesar says, looking at him imploringly.

"Pleaseeeeeee, cmon, its just washing your hair, trying new hairstyles, it's not gonna kill you", Sarah says

Seth sighs in defeat.

"How long have you two been planning this?", he asks, a small smile beginning to form on his face

Sarah hooks one arm though hers, and Ces takes the other side, essentially frog marching him to the living room.

She shrugs, "A month maybe, now let the self care day start!"

They make Seth lie down on the couch and untie his hair, Ces washing it in a basin of warm soapy water while Sarah lectured him about how to take proper care of his hair. While Seth is distracted, Ces starts to subtly tie Seths hair into pigtails, fighting for his life. Sarah fails at hiding her smile, and Seth catches on, jolting upright.

"Cesar Torres. What are you doing with my hair.", he says, turning to face him slowly. Cesar bursts out laughing, tears in his eyes. Seth pats his head, detecting the pigtails.

"PIGTAILS??, really Ces?", he tries to untie them, but Sarah swats his hand.

"Noooo! They're so cute!", she picks up a mirror and shows it to Seth, whose horrified face is now staring back at him with the pigtails in glittery pink scrunchies. Seth buries his head in his hand, before getting an idea.

"Well, if you two can mess with my hair, then I guess it's only fair I do so too right?", Seth picks up one of Sarah's hairstyles catalogues, thumbing it's pages, before grinning evilly, and revealing tye most atrocious hairstyle known to man.

"You first Ces",

They spend the day trying out different hairstyles, to Ces and Sarah amusement and Seths continous shock( "People actaully do these??") and at some point, Sarah even brings her skin care routine, arms full if variously coloured gels and masks( Ces whistles, impressed, "You know she serious when she pulls out the papaya exfoliating mask". "The WHAT??" . "dw about it")

At the end of the day, Sarah brings her nail polish collection, choosing red for herself, black for Ces, and hot pink for Seth. He holds the tiny bottle, looking at her witha mixture of fondness and tiredness.

"Is the hot pink really necessary, I mean, you've already used like 30 different products on me today", he says

Sarah and Ces nod emphatically.

"No self care is complete without nail polish! And I even made Ces learn nail art to make sure it looks good as possible! Cmon, this one last thing okay? I promise", Sarah says, and Seth grumbles but holds out his hands. They cheer and get to work, Sarah with unwavering laser focus, and Ces with the tip of his tongue poking out, attempting to copy Sarah. He looks at them lovingly. These silly children and their care of him. His silly children that he was ready to burn the world down for, if it meant seeing them happy forever as they were now.

Here's the post that started this whole idea!!

Okay, so, the premise is that instead of playing hockey, they're all classical musicians and Samwell is a music conservatory that's not exactly Julliard levels, but it's up there in terms of prestige/excellence.

Bitty actually still started out figure skating, but then Coach got a job with Georgia Tech in Atlanta and they moved to the suburbs (yes this is similar to my Jack the Gardener AU) instead of back to Madison, and instead of joining the community's co-ed hockey team, he joined the school's orchestra.

When he gets to Samwell, his freshman year is spent partly in music history lectures, partly in the small-group he joined (all students have to perform in a small group throughout the year), and mostly in practice rooms crying into his music because who does he really think he is? This is Samwell. Bitty didn't pick up his violin until he was twelve, and everyone else seems to have been playing their instrument since birth.

He has rather strong performance anxiety because of this fear of not being good enough to those around him, and this leaves him out of making it into Founders, the honors string ensemble at Samwell.

It's sometime in November when Bitty's leaving a practice room and finds Jack Zimmermann standing right outside the door. Jack Zimmermann, the prodigal son of "Bad Bob" Zimmermann, the greatest violinist in modern day and the infamous concertmaster of Founders.

Jack overhears Bitty practicing and demands asks why he isn't in Founders. He then offers to help Bitty get over his performance anxiety, even going as far as to offer the open violin position in their small group ("Yeah, Johnson was--he left, and now we need a second violin.") which is where Bitty meets Shitty (the violist), Ransom (the cellist), and Holster (the bassist).

I haven't found a way to really finish the story yet and it's more outlined than written, but here's a snippet!!

Eric’s heard of Jack Zimmermann.

It’s hard not to. His name is always fluttering around the mess hall, the dormitories, hushed behind stands during rehearsals and taking meaning off the grapevine, ripe or not. People say he’s this legend, this risk, this fissure waiting to crack beyond redemption. One person praises the ground Jack walks on and the next person tuts indignantly in his wake. He’s the most divisive topic of conversation after pop music, and yet when Jack enters a room, there’s still this collective pause that’s just long enough to be noticeable. Eric didn’t know why that was until his roommate sent him a few articles about the prodigal child gone off the rails.

All throughout his first year, Eric heard his fair share of stories—that Jack botched his Juilliard auditions and his father sent him to Samwell as punishment, that he got a girl pregnant in London and his father sent him to Samwell as punishment, that he got caught with cocaine in some New York airport and his father sent him to Samwell as punishment. 

The more Eric heard, the more outlandish the stories got, but they all had the common ending: Samwell is Jack’s punishment. Samwell is this step down from what Jack deserves. 

Which, yeah, that rubs Eric the wrong way.

“It’s, like, this Samwell right of passage to hear about him,” one girl—Lala? Laura? Larissa?—said at the beginning of the term when a group of first-years behind them didn’t know how to whisper. Eric sits beside her in Music History: 1700 - 1850 and hadn’t spoken more than five words to her before that day. “Which fucking blows. I mean, he’s a student here like the rest of us, but they act like he’s a ticking time bomb or something. It’s ridiculous.”

Eric shuffled in his seat. To have the entire school constantly talk about you and never to you is definitely shitty, but—“I mean, maybe there’s some truth there?”

The look the girl gave him could positively kill. They haven’t spoken to each other since.

Eric felt guilty saying that, but he doesn’t think he was entirely wrong. Jack Zimmermann, as much as he’s talked about, never refutes anything or tries to clear the air, always just walking around campus with this brooding sort of energy. Always frowning and hard-looking and stoic in a way that raises the hair on the back of Eric’s neck.

“He’s almost scary,” Eric told his mama over the phone a few weeks after starting at Samwell last year. It was the first day Eric had seen Jack Zimmermann in the flesh, leaving Founders and running late for his Discover Samwell seminar. “I hate that all these people keep talking about him in such troublesome ways, but a part of me wonders if there isn’t some truth in it.”

“Well, you know what I always say, Dicky: if it ain’t coming from their own mouth, it ain’t worth your time.”

Eric sighed and waved to the car that let him cross the street. “I know, Mama. I just wonder.”

“Honey, we all wonder, whether we like to or not. Now why are you so twisted up over this boy anyway?”

Eric couldn’t answer that without telling his mama that Jack Zimmermann quite literally could be the hottest man he’s ever seen with his own two eyes, and the added mystery and broodiness worked for Jack just as much as it worked against him, so Eric didn’t answer at all. He moved on, let the occasional blips of concern pass, and focused on surviving his first year, his ensemble auditions, and his now upcoming sophomore recitals. He stopped letting the rumors and whispers and side-eye glances get to him, stopped eavesdropping on others’ conversations when Jack’s name was said. 

It was easy. For the first time in his life, Eric wasn’t the target.

What other fears do they have?

peppino struggles with scrupulosity and fears being evil. his dad and grandpa used to say he looked and acted like some bad guy's hired muscle when he was a young man because he was an arrogant foolhardy brute, and it really got to him. he's internally prone to ensuring his actions align to his moral code and behaving as he feels a hero ought to, even if he views himself as a failed hero.

Why do they have these fears? Are these fears innate, trauma-based, or generational?

a mix of all three. one of his innate fears is deep water and pepp's never been a strong swimmer, so he avoids bodies of water bigger than a bathtub as a rule ( swimming in pasta / boxes of old pizzas is a different matter entirely, obviously ). his fairly traumatic tour of service and the death of his twin brother right in front of him left him an absolute mess of neurosis. and i think being raised by a family of famous heroes instilled in him certain fears of straying from the heroic code of honor laid out by his ancestors and of the monsters they've fought for generations. while he tries to judge everyone based on their own merits and how much harm / inconvenience they're actually causing him in the present, he's wary of beings like pizzaface / pizzahead on principle due to his family's history of encounters with beings like the pizzamancer.

he's faced them like he faces every problem in his life: head - on, fists swinging. he's had mixed results, obviously; he's still a very volatile and anxiety - prone person, but he's not completely unable to function like he used to be. so. progress!

OUGH okay i will. put all of that under the cut bc i'm definitely going to talk about big spoilers AND IT'S GONNA BE LENGTHY BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS. SV may be a mess in some aspects but the story is the best it's been in many gens, if not the best story in any Pokémon game

i gotta talk about the two elephants in the room first; RIKA AND ARVEN.

For Rika; She's giving me gender envy bc like. god i wish that were me. But also I want to marry her because oh my god I love her and her design so much GAMEFREAK WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME. Why do they always keep getting away with this shit EVERY GOD DAMN GEN that there's a character I end up being down bad for LOL... She's so chill!! But she's also so nice!!! And I'm ough. I really hope any future DLC will give her more screentime or at LEAST let me rematch her because why the fuck can i not fight the E4 again!!! sir!!! lemme see her!!!!!!!!!

Arven.............. he is my son now. That whole last stretch of the story in area zero really REALLY solidified him as my favourite of the main cast because man he's been through a lot and this guy can't catch a fucking break!!! Had to go years without seeing his parents only to find out that the one parent he remembers and saw only very occasionally as a kid died years prior to the game's events protecting the mirai/koraidon you've been traveling with all this time. And the whole thing about Mabosstiff!!! The titan questline had me tearing up on several occasions. im AUGh.... I'm so SO weak for characters like this who appear a bit standoffish at first but then open up to the player and they're just beans that have gone through a lot and are trying to help. And his own resolution to become a chef with the knowledge he now holds over the herba mystica to help others felt like the most logical course of action for him to take so i'm glad he found what he wants to strive for next!! anyways sorry not sorry if i end up drawing him a lot LMAO he lives in my brain rent free. son boy allowed

Then there's Nemona!!! She's so fucking head empty no thoughts and I love her. And if there's something in that head of hers it's just a brick with the only thought being violence and battle. And you know what? good for her! good for her. She's really funny and probably one of the most fun rivals we've had in recent history for pokemon. I like that she's not just super talented either, she literally explains to the trainer when you talk to her in postgame that she had to work hard to even get to this point. She really feels like a mirror to the player but she just took her journey of becoming a champion a year or two earlier than the player did. But also wow same lady ur just like me fr fr

Penny!! she's just a bean that cares for her friends!!! And the team Star story stuff really felt nicely done. Trying to help her friends that were painted as bullies because of a misunderstanding and mismanagement at the school while the team Star members aren't bad people at all. I also absolutely love her sass when traveling with her in Area Zero (and subsequently the dynamic between Penny, Nemona and Arven as a whole, they're best friends now your honor)

AND ALSO CAN I TALK ABOUT HER BATTLE THEME FOR A SECOND BECAUSE ?????????????????????

THEY PUT HARDCORE/HARDSTYLE IN MY POKEMON GAME

I genuinely was not expecting that but hearing the hardbass i was like wtf holy shit they went OFF with this track!!! The track is an absolute banger too but definitely felt unexpected for a character like Penny. Good for her though!! She's got one of the best themes in the game and im jamming

And then Turo! I played Violet but I'm aware that the same thing happens with Sada in Scarlet so it's easy to just replace names. Man... I could talk about this part of the story all fucking day. The professor is probably one of the most interesting "villains" in Pokémon as a whole and I'm SO GLAD that the series finally went down this route, because they absolutely nailed the story telling with this. Area Zero blew me out of the fucking water and was so unexpected!!! This whole segment has "REJUVENATION" written all over it!!! I was literally WAITING for Jan to get to this segment after completing the game, only for him to say the same exact shit LOL. I was not expecting this from a main series Pokémon game at ALL and frankly I'm so glad it did because this whole story segment with made Violet easily one of my favourite pokemon games in the series.

AI Turo stimulating the player from the background to find the herba mystica with arven and them becoming stronger but not really wanting to talk to Arven because-- just like his original counterpart-- he's too focused on the goal of the mission to care for the son of his original counterpart (though him being an AI also might hinder processing emotional attachment even MORE than the original Turo already had problems with). The reason why Turo hasn't visited Arven in years being that the original is dead and AI Turo literally cannot leave the crater due to him needing the power of the Tera crystals to stay functional. AI Turo, despite being the same in almost every possible way, realizing and coming to agree that there's no logic in the original Turo's decision to want to introduce future Pokémon into the ecosystem KNOWING that it'd destroy the old one, making him a better person than the original was-- and painting the original Turo as the villain in this situation due to that his obsession with the future as written in the Violet book drove him to ignore how wrong he was for what he was trying to do, even after death. AI Turo knowing that he himself is part of the security system and needs to be fought in order to put a stop to the time machine, hence why he stimulated the player to keep training and taking care of Miraidon. AI Turo realizing that he needed to go in order to put a total stop to the time machine because his very existence is keeping it active. He says "I want to see the future" and leaves the present day in order to stop the time machine, but there's some deeper implications here; in practice this is AI Turo taking a massive risk by sacrificing himself to save Paldea because on the chance he ends up outside of the crater, he'll cease functioning and will practically die. And you know? The revelation that he's an AI powered robot actually makes total sense if you paid attention to his animations and speech mannerisms; he's the only character that doesn't have a breathing animation (it's not even there in the first video transmission you see of him! and it's the same for Sada in Scarlet) and is constantly identifying the player & friends through student ID's and biometrics rather than acknowledging them as actual people. BUT ALSO THAT BATTLE WAS SO FUCKING COOL!! Genuinely challenging too since you had to figure out his mons' typings on the fly, AND HE'S GOT A BANGER BATTLE THEME. Toby Fox you've done it again you madman

honorable mention goes to Clavell and Grusha, the former because Clavell is fucking funny as hell and I'm so glad he ended up being more involved in the story than I expected. Sir you're a little behind with the times AND YOU ASKED ME WHAT CHEUGY MEANS WHICH KILLED ME but you're all the funnier for it. thank you. Grusha gets the mention because he caught me off guard by having the highest leveled gym team out of any of the gym leaders with having mons at level 47 while I strolled up with my mid-30's team and got my ass blasted. thank you sir. i will now never make the mistake of thinking you're a lower tier gym leader just because TPC advertised you early. good god

All that being said, I could go on about every other character but these really were the ones that stuck out the most in my mind. i have so many thoughts about this game and i swear the brainrot's going to be around for a LONG ASS TIME

interaction call ( mysterious inn group ) — yet another call for interactions revolving around the lore for this inch-resting inn. aka an interaction call solely for the following muses :o) if you don't specify who you'd like, i will be randomizing them.

haneul — sorcerer. if that’s even their real name... ( it’s not ). proprietor of a wayward inn for those lost and in need of shelter. expertly hidden from plain sight and can only be found when led by odd animals that posses glowing eyes. curious enough to step into the establishment? excellent choice, for full satisfaction is guaranteed once your name is added to the ledger. oh, and one last thing — whatever you do, don’t even think about harming them ‘lest you’d prefer to have this as your final destination. 

dhrish amin — nightjar familiar . not a single braincell in that pretty head. familiar to haneul, sometimes guides potential customers to the inn, a bundle of energy and surprises — he’s an all around good time with a penchant to get into weird situations. might be a mess but he's fairly outstanding with being a guide to the labyrinth of the everchanging inn.  you've got lobby right here, all sorts of magical shops over there, and— oh! right, rooms are up to the left, past supply closet, right, left, left, and right again!

hyun jiah — mythical tiger. the idiom of ‘back when tigers used to smoke’, but literal. part of the inn as a storyteller that can tell tales for days upon end. some even say that the stories this tiger’s come to collect have a sway with truths that can be altered to reality. others say a powerful boon can be traded for one’s life story — though this oftentimes means the tiger will hold possession over that person’s life in some manner.

bu doyun — haetae. coming out of the cage and he’s been doing just.. decent. jkjk, but seriously — he’s the most fickle, isolated grouch around that’s just begun to subject himself to the living world again. serves as hidden security to haneul’s inn — sometimes as a stone figure out front and other times as some random schmuck indoors near the lobby ( always with a frown, always with a comically large bell around his neck ).  if you're of the Dangerous variety outdoors then you'll have the honor of seeing him shift into a humanoid form just so he can berate and deter your entrance ( and if that doesn't work.. well, ever have a buff statue hand u ur own ass? ).

hak minji — human, allegedly ( totally a mythical red crown crane with fortune influences ). fully eccentric lady, surprisingly loving mother, deeply profound with the knowledge of all things lost. comes from a lineage of enigmatic folk that maintain ownership over this shop of wonders. anything a person could ever desire can be bought here, but only if they're allowed entrance. aka if doyun thinks someone worthy. sends a little birdy ( totally not chinmae ) with gifts of good fortune occationally.

ransom — harpy . a being that deals in memories . the only form of payment he takes is by the trade of memories that are of equal value. happy ones are highly sought for( naturally ) whereas sadder ones aren’t as much — though there are some that seek out painful memories for whatever reason. he can even concoct something that can let a person experience a memory they’ve forgotten / never known, but those are the priciest of them all. oh, and sometimes… he eat some memories but you didn’t hear that from me.
