Please tell me all about the Kade and Nora Demestrap?? The current productions seem to be going all in on this ship and it is very valid of them!

(Also if there were any Kieran and Hank tuggoffelees moments, I need to ask you to share them due to who I am as a person)

ok so i posted the majority of my thoughts on Kade and Nora's Demestrap here, but i just HAVE to mention again how much i love the dynamic they created

like i adore the traditional fully in love happily married Demestrap that Lauren and Devon gave us, but Kade and Nora created a much more complex relationship that grew over the course of the show, from Munkustrap being a little hesitant and Demeter being curious about him, to the two of them having a respect and little flirtation with each other during the Ball, to finally having that moment during the Macavity fight and after when they see one another in a new light.

like their Demestrap makes me think that Demeter's only known by Bombalurina, Mungojerrie, and Rumpleteazer, and they're the ones who brought her into the Junkyard. Tugger's doing his best making her feel welcome (my Tugmeter BFF Agenda was FED by Hank and Nora), but Munkustrap's a little more suspicious.

Seeing her reaction to Macavity actually showing up really changed his perspective, and just... ugh, their mannerisms around each other, the way they moved and grew???? absolutely BEAUTIFUL

NOW FOR KIERAN AND HANK TUGGOFF!!!!!

THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS THAT'S THEIR BEST FRIEND

literally the ultimate hype men for each other during their songs

like there didn't feel like there was a "YES THIS IS TUGGOFFELEES" vibe to their interactions, which i honestly really liked? all their interactions could easily be viewed as either platonic or romantic

idk if this would be a lil nsfw-ish, but when Tugger and Misto do their little dance during Tugger's song, and Misto goes down to crawl between Tugger's legs, Tugger did a little hip thrust and it just made me giggle

there were a lot of cute little moments, like Tugger nudging Mistoffelees playfully during the Ball, and Mistoffelees turning around to interact with him

i got the biggest Bombatuggoffelees vibes during the Ball, especially after the Pas when everyone is cuddling together

THE CUDDLING DURING PEKES AND POLLICLES WHEN I TELL YOU I NEARLY DIED

They were sitting together on the car trunk and just in their own little world like yes give me Tuggoffelees who are completely wrapped up in each other that they forget about everything else 😭

Mistoffelees' song was SO good, Kieran has such a sweet voice, which contrasted really nicely with Hank's more rock star-style singing

them dancing together gets me every single time, but there was a moment where Tugger was up on the tire, and Misto was down on the actual stage, and Tugger was mirroring Misto's dance movements and it was perfection

ok i said this in my main commentary post, but when Old Deuteronomy is brought back???? it was so fucking cute????

Like Tugger was FULLY in awe of what happened, and he was bouncing around and just so insanely hyped, and he started off singing really loudly and excited, but he stopped and took a moment to calm himself down, but he was just so happy and it was such a good lil moment

and then before they started doing the last bit of dancing, Tugger and Misto had a moment where they gave each other fist bumps and were just smiling and UGH i love them

and then the moment during the finale when they're going off stage together and Tugger's like "WAIT I HAVE TO FINISH THIS" and runs back onto stage

So like i said in my main commentary post, Nora played their version of Demeter as a very new arrival to the Junkyard. She (Demeter) was hesitant, and the other Jellicles were all careful around her, in a “make sure she’s comfortable and safe” sort of way.

Kade’s Munkustrap was a very protective, no-nonsense Munkustrap, which i loved!!

The way the two of them interacted was just… such a good Demestrap dynamic. Munkustrap was protective around her, but also a little cautious himself, more so in an “i want to trust you but I’m not 100% sure if i can yet” sort of way. Demeter seemed to trust Munkustrap more than he trusted her, sticking near him, and watching him constantly.

There was a REALLY sweet moment between the two of them during the first part of Jenny’s song, where the rest of the Gumbie trio is setting up, but Demeter just sort of stayed near Munkustrap, looking up and watching him with the sweetest smile and I’m?????? Crying?????

The first time, Munkustrap didn’t stop Demeter from going to Grizabella, which I thought was such a good moment. He let her make the decision, and when he saw her flinch back, that’s when he stopped Grizabella from going to her, and when she showed up after the Ball, that’s when Munkustrap stopped Demeter from going near her. I love that he first let Demeter make that decision, and then he supported those boundaries (meanwhile Bombalurina was very adamant about not letting Demeter near Griz)

I didn’t really get strong Demestrap vibes until, obviously, the Macavity fight. There was a moment when Macavity first showed up with Munkustrap turned to look at Demeter, and he saw how she flinched, and that’s when he motioned for her to go to the side while he turned and faced Macavity.

Demeter was tucked in the corner of the stage, and I was torn between watching her and watching the fight, because when Munkustrap and Macavity started fighting, she was shaking her head “no” and looked SO terrified

(Seriously, every single one of Nora’s mannerisms and facial expressions for Demeter were absolutely on point)

She raced across the stage to get to Munkustrap when he fell, but was chased off by Macavity

And my FAVORITE Demestrap moment was when Munkustrap was struggling to get up after Macavity got chased off. Kade did SUCH a good job at really acting like he was truly hurt and in pain, he kept collapsing and struggling to even get to his knees

But Demeter went over to him, and seemed so hesitant to touch him, like she wasn’t sure if he’d want her to help him, but he just looked at her as he was trying to get up, and when he fell again, she put her head under his arm to help support him, and they just had a moment where they looked at one another before sharing just the sweetest nuzzle

When Demeter got scared by Tugger at the beginning of Mistoffelees’ song, Munkustrap looked SO frustrated by Tugger for startling her

Honestly Kade and Nora’s Demestrap was such a good dynamic, and they’re making me want to explore this choice a lot more, because i think there’s so much potential with a Demeter who’s only just recently left Macavity, and a Munkustrap who’s wary of all newcomers to his tribe

favorite performances

so this is based off of the show that i saw (3/4/2023) and they are my opinions so i don't want to see anyone shitting on any of these amazing actors in the comments or rb's of this post

that being said, i loved the entire show, but these are the performances that stood out to me!!

i mentioned it briefly, but Nora was just so amazing as Demeter. Their take on her character was something I hadn't seen before, and I loved every minute of it. Their voice is so unique and gorgeous, and specifically during Jenny's song, i could not stop watching Nora performing and singing! Also all their background interactions with the other members of the cast were so sweet and perfect to how they characterized Demeter.

Hank was AMAZING as Tugger. Every single mannerism, interaction, and vocal choice was on point, from his little interactions with Mistoffelees, to the way he joked around with Demeter and Munkustrap, just everything. I think i've said it already, but he's one of my favorite Tuggers, just everything about him was perfect.

I will say that I was slightly disappointed to not be seeing Ibn as Mistoffelees, but Kieran was just SO wonderful. His voice was beautiful, and his dancing was so graceful. During his song, I really loved how he and Hank sang together, and his dynamic with everyone was absolutely perfect.

Brian and Taryn are the most Jerrie and Teazer ever, they're goofy, and give me more 2019 M+R vibes, like they've just recently left Macavity with Demeter, and are new to the tribe, and Brian was just... the best Mungo, honestly, I think he's probably in my top three Mungojerrie actors

SAM AND YUKA SAM AND YUKA SAM AND YUKA I LOVE THEM MORE THAN ANYTHING THEY'RE SUCH CUTIES THEIR PLATORIA IS EVERYTHING TO ME

Zamb was the MOST wonderful Skimbleshanks, their interactions specifically with Michelle and Brian were so sweet, and their voice???? is amazing???? just the best Skimbleshanks

and i've already said it time and time again, but Michelle and Tayler are honestly some of my favorite Cats actresses ever, Michelle's Jenny is so perfect, and Tayler's Grizabella quite honestly is my favorite Grizabella just after Elaine Paige.

literally half this cast has made it onto my top three of the characters they played

unfortunately tumblr decided to delete the first commentary post i made before i could post it, so this might be missing some details!

if i talk about a Cats character, i will be using that cat's name and pronouns, but obviously, if i'm talking about an actor, I will be using their names and pronouns (so Demeter and Skimble I will be using she/her and he/him, but obviously, for Nora and Zamb, i will be using they/them)

Act 1:

SUCH a powerful cast holy shit

like their harmonies were so strong, and every dance mark was hit perfectly

I think they’re the strongest cast I’ve seen

Plato and Tori are????? So in love????? Sobbing?????

Nora!Dem and Kade!Munk are also VERY IN LOVE like they're adorble

Michelle is honestly my favorite Jennyanydots, now I've seen her three times, and she's just as amazing

SKIMBLEDOTS IS REAL TY ZAMB AND MICHELLE FOR FEEDING ME SKIMBLEDOTS CONTENT

literally they are the fucking cutest skimbledots

Kade's Tugger is honestly now in my top three Tugger's, and about 50% of that is because i got to talk to him at the stage door and he was the nicest person

but seriously, his Tugger reminded me SO much of John Partridge's Tugger, he was such a rockstar, and his voice is so good

ofc I have to mention the Tugger and Misto dance, they were giving "everyone look at my best friend because my best friend is better than all of you" and that's so valid

also it was adorable but before Tugger's last moment when everyone's gathered around him, Demeter trips him a little and just gives him a little "who, me?" look when he looks at her, and that's what makes him shoo everyone away

Hank and Nora said Tugmeter are best friends rights and once again i am validated

god Nora's version of Demeter is so soft and sympathetic towards Grizabella, and it's honestly heartbreakingly beautiful

This Demeter felt like a younger sister compared to Bombalurina, so once again, ty to Nora for supporting my hcs

tbh even if I don't ship it this tour is really saying demebombalonzostrap rights

Tugger was trying to get Deuteronomy's attention when he arrived, and had to give himself a lil pep talk before greeting him 😭 that's his DAD

literally every single one of my hcs are being so validated by this cast

Tumblebrutus was SUCH a big brother to Pouncival, always making sure he was having fun and it made my heart explode

Tugger gave Mistoffelees a cute lil nudge during the ball, there were so many little moments like that between them, just playful, silly moments and i'm 😭😭😭😭

like this cast really made it more prominent that this is Victoria and Plato's Ball, because everyone was paying a little extra special attention to them, whether it was greeting them, dancing in front of them, or just watching them, and i loved that so much

Plato shared a fist bump with Tumblebrutus and Pouncival before they did their section of the dance at the ball 😭

SKIMBLEDAD SKIMBLEDAD SKIMBLEDAD

Mungojerrie got scared by Grizabella so he cuddled into Skimbleshanks' leg that's his DAD

Tayler did these little gasps as she did the dance before "Memory", and i can't remember if she's done those in the past times that i've seen her, but they added so much to the moment, because it felt like she was either trying to remember the moves, or she was hurt.

Act 2:

Sillabub seemed started by the fact that she was singing during “moments of happiness”, which i thought was a really great touch

overall, I loved Sam's Sillabub so much, she was so sweet, and her voice was gorgeous

Brian Mungo is the Most Mungo to ever Mungo

I'm so happy that Babysitter Plato is one of the decisions that's stuck around, I love seeing Plato minding the kitten trio and just being the best big brother to them

he and Tori were also cuddling together during Gus' song 😭

Jenny and Skimble snuggled during Gus’ song, and first Jenny was laying her head on Skimble’s leg, and then they switched so he was resting on her leg, and I sobbed

and then Tugger and Misto cuddling together during Pekes and Pollicles. That’s it, that’s the post.

Tugger kept trying to hit the pompom on the dog head the queens were wearing

I'm in awe of Erica's voice. She is SUCH a powerful Bomba

Nora has the most unique, gorgeous voice, and their performance during Macavity was one of my favorites, honestly. The way Nora and Erica's voices blended during the song gave me chills

Nora’s Demeter gave me “just joined the Jellicles” vibes. Like, her wig’s a little more wild, and she’s a little more hesitant, and the way she sang during Macavity was more boastful than fearful. I honestly loved this version of Dem, SUCH a good take ngl

like the way Demeter and Munkustrap interacted was very much a "we've only met recently but oh i think i'm falling in love with you" and once again SUCH a good Demestrap take

Nora also played Demeter VERY skittish, and it was honestly heartbreaking watching her during the Macavity fight, she was absolutely terrified

BUT she also protected Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer!!! they were near her and she moved them over to the side

honestly Jerrie and Teazer gave me more 2019 vibes, like they had also just joined the tribe recently

Sammy's Alonzo was SO good, and I loved his moment of preparing himself to face Macavity

MUNK WAS STRUGGLING TO GET UP AFTER THE MACAVITY FIGHT AND DEMETER HELPED HIM BY PUTTING HIS ARM AROUND HER NECK UP I’M SOBBING

When Tugger said “you ought to ask magical mr Mistoffelees” Deméter got startled 😭 and Munkustrap was so concerned about her

Tugger got so excited when Misto brought Deut back, he had to take a moment compose himself which was ADORABLE

They also did like a lil handshake before the final part of the song which was also VERY CUTE

God Tayler is just so so good as Griz

so i haven't been able to stage door at any of the shows i've seen (i missed the chance in rochester and will ALWAYS be sad about that), but i was able to go to the stage door, and it was honestly the BEST time

the cast was so so very nice, and i was able to get a good number of signatures on my playbill!

but here are some stage door cast interaction highlights:

kade was... so sweet?????? like the man literally was the kindest human being?????

brian and zamb came out together and i got to chat with them for a bit and they are so so lovely

tbh almost started crying when i met tayler, i've been wanting to meet her since i first saw her in rochester so this was SO exciting and i was just in awe of her

but also it was SO funny bc she was on facetime with someone and she told the girls in front of me "i'm actually on facetime with a member of the former cast who's living in japan" and i was like HYLA???? and so when she came to me i was like "yeah i saw you guys in rochester and syracuse and you were amazing" and she was like "wait then you saw hyla hold on" and i got to say hi to hyla on facetime like WHAT

the last ones who came out were michelle, hank, and taryn, and there were like six people including me waiting, and so we stood around and chatted for like almost ten minutes??? just chilling??

taryn said she loved my makeup and we talked about makeup together and then she said she loved my nails

michelle was SO sweet and i was like "you're one of my favorite jenny's, this is my third time seeing you in the show" and she was like "no way where did you see us?" and i said "rochester and syracuse" and she said "omg blast from the past"

but then when i was talking to hank she was like "WAIT i'm starting to recognize you from Rochester" and i was like EXCUSE ME WHAT THE FUCK? and she was like "yeah i recognize you!" it was insane but i'm literally over the moon lmao

also???? hank said i looked familiar???? and asked if we had met before???? bestie i'm honored you think you know me but WHAT

but seriously this was one of my favorite stage door experiences, this cast is just so 💖💖💖💖

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: Rum Tum Tugger

TUGGER TIME

alright going to say this right off the bat: Zach Bravo is my absolute FAVORITE Tugger. I may do a few comparisons between his Tugger and McGee's Tugger, but that's mainly because they're the two I've seen in person. I'm not bashing McGee's Tugger in ANY way.

First off, every interaction he had with the other cats was perfect. After seeing all the BTS videos that Zach's made on his instagram, tiktok, and other cast members' instagram, it's really obvious that he loves his cast mates a lot, and those relationships translated so well to the stage.

His energy as Tugger was balanced perfectly between "mature, grown-up Tugger" and "little bastard cat man who thrives on chaos". McGee's Tugger was pretty much firmly planted in the "little bastard cat man" category, and while I do love the chaos, having Zach add more of a maturity and seriousness to his Tugger brought another wonderful level to the character.

The way he says "Who will it be?" is less "hi i'm a little shit who wants to cause chaos" and more "hehe teasing big brother time and causing chaos and fun!!"

He was so much fun to watch during his number, purely because of how he interacted with everyone! He was teasing Munkustrap, Jellylorum, and Jennyanydots the entire time, had the cutest little dance with Demeter, and his dance with Cassandra was perfect!

Also just... the chemistry he had with Chelsea during the Tugger/Bomba moments was perfect.

I LOVE HOW MUCH HE USED HIS MANE!!! Literally, he was either shimmying it, touching it, grooming it, or other cats were touching it!!

He probably used the stage the most out of everyone, and was always moving around. He stayed on the scaffolding for pretty much the entirety of "Bustopher Jones", and also used the oven quite a bit!

He and Munkustrap were the ultimate brothers. Tugger teased him so much during his song, but the two of them were so soft during "Old Deuteronomy", standing on either side of Old Deut near the end!!

He also had a really great moment before "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer", when everyone scatters, just Munkustrap, Alonzo, Tugger, and Bombalurina were left on stage, and Tugger waited for Munkustrap's signal before going off. I love a good Protector!Tugger moment!

Oh my gosh, he was ALWAYS interacting with someone. He had moments with Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, with Tumblebrutus and George, and also with the oldie squad! He had the most with Mistoffelees, Cassandra, Bombalurina, Demeter, and Munkustrap though, and I loved all of them!

The way he reacted to Grizabella the first time broke my heart, she showed up and he moved behind the bars of the scaffolding, as if he was putting a wall between them, and ugh the angst. The second time she showed up after the Ball, he hissed at her, which also meant more angst.

He just had so much fun, and I loved how he clearly had thought through each of his choices, like "okay, I want to do this, but would Tugger do this?" or "if I have this reaction, does it make sense with everything else?"

Okay, I'm putting this separately: Zach's choices during "Mr. Mistoffelees":

This isn't so much Zach's choices, but Devon and Lauren: While he's introducing Mistoffelees, no one's really listening. I got a really wonderful view of Munkustrap and Demeter, and as he's speaking, Demeter just looks away, shaking her head, and she and Munkustrap start to move off the stage. It was a really great "i know what he's trying to do but it's not going to work" moment, and said a lot about the characters!

Tugger seems taken aback by everyone leaving, so the way he says "Don't scoff!" worked SO well. it's almost like he was pleading with the Jellicles, trying to get them to believe that they CAN bring Old Deuteronomy back, that it will work! I really loved that take on the line, and it makes so much more sense.

He was genuinely SO excited when Cassandra's costume lit up, it was adorable.

I said it before, but during the mirror dance moment, he does copy Mistoffelees, but then he did the silliest little dance like "yes!! everyone's excited!!" and i just... love him so much...

Obviously, y'all know how I feel about the shimmy and the nuzzle, it was wonderful

the "ladies and gentlemen" moment was perfect, he was so hyped up and excited!!

in conclusion, i love Zach Bravo with my entire heart, i'm still reeling from him commenting on one of my posts on Instagram, and this tour cast has become one of my favorite Cats Casts

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: Specific Cats

Tugger gets his own post because I’m still feeling A LOT over Zach seeing my video and commenting on my Instagram post

Here are all the requested Cats! If I missed one feel free to let me know and I’ll either add on or do another post!

Alonzo

Okay, I don’t know if it’s because Vinny looks younger, or if his makeup makes him look younger, but I very much got “first time protector Alonzo” vibes!

He was always looking at either Munkustrap or Old Deut for reassurance.

He was Very Annoyed by Tugger’s song.

He had SO many sweet moments with Demeter, either dancing with her or sitting with her during songs.

He also had a few precious moments with Jellylorum, either sitting next to her, or standing with her!

I LOVE how he geared up to fight Macavity. It feeds into the “young tom wanting to prove himself” vibe, and Vinny played it SO well.

Mungojerrie

SILLY SILLY BOY

He got pets from Munkustrap and was very proud of himself.

He and Tugger (and Rumple, since they were with each other), had such a sweet moment sitting together, I love them.

He had so much fun during Skimble’s song!

Also he was laughing during Tugger’s “99 wives” line and it was adorable.

Plato

OHHHHHH I HAVE THINGS TO SAY

Hyla and Aiden gave off very much “just a little older than the kittens but still young” vibes, so Plato was with the Kitten Squad a LOT

He was basically their babysitter during Bustopher’s song and it was adorable.

His expressions during the Ball 🥺 he was so excited to dance with Victoria

There was a moment during the Ball where he danced with Sillabub, and I think Brianna’s just TINY because the height difference was adorable.

Mistoffelees

He was ALWAYS dancing. If he had to go off stage or move around, he was so graceful and did some sort of twirl or jump!

He was sitting on the pipe during Gus’ song and was very interested in what was happening.

I LOVE PAUL’S VOICE SO MUCH

The Invitation was definitely one of my favorite Misto Moments, just the way he interacted with everyone and was so excited!

Also him interacting with Jennyanydots during her song was great, he seemed very concerned by the fact that she kept zoning out.

Munkustrap

HE

He got to be silly during Bustopher’s song and I loved that for him

Every time Griz showed up he went to his full height like “i don’t want to hurt you but you have to leave”

Every interaction he had with Tugger was perfect.

He was SUCH a good protector, checking on everybody!

Every moment he had with Demeter was precious.

HE HAD A MOMENT WITH SILLA DURING THE PROLOGUE WHERE HE LIFTED HER AND SHE WAS SO LITTLE AND HE WAS SO TALL AND MY DAD MUNKUS HC IS SO VALIDATED

Jellylorum

BEST MOM BEST MOM

She ALWAYS had an eye on the kittens, but she still had fun!

She had such a cute reaction to Gus’ song, either nodding along or giving him a Look like “did that really happen?”

She was just always around another cat, checking in on them, making sure they were alright.

Also LOTS of Jennylorum moments!!

Kitten Squad

BABIES

Ok so the Kitten Squad consisted of Sillabub, George, and Tumblebrutus! Sadly, no Pounce

They were ALWAYS sitting together, basically just in a pile.

During Jennyanydots’ song, they each went between the Gumbie trio’s legs and played with their tails 🥺🥺 Tumble played with Jellylorum’s, Silla was playing with Bombalurina’s, and George was playing with Demeter’s, and Demeter played with his paw 🥺🥺🥺

They were SO well-behaved for Bustopher’s song, they did Munkus proud.

Tumblebrutus and George were together for the reprise of Memory, and George was hiding his face but Tumblebrutus was watching Griz the entire time and I loved that.

Cassandra

She, Tugger, and Misto lounged together a LOT, with Tugger and Misto usually switching out.

During Skimble’s song, she sat behind Misto during the Fake Train and was just smiling and having fun!!

She helped Deuteronomy back to his seat and they were so cute

She also had SO much fun during Mistoffelees’ song when her costume lit up!

Demeter

She was POWERFUL

She did get to have fun during Jennyanydots’ song, as she DESERVES

She actually interacted with the other cats quite a bit, which I really loved! We don’t see a lot of Demeters doing that.

Also my rarepair self was loving all the Tugmeter interactions, they were wonderful.

So many sweet Demestrap moments, their chemistry was amazing

I’ve said it before but HER VOICE WAS LITERALLY SO GORGEOUS I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED I LOVE HER

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: Act 1

note: i'm referring to the cats by their show names, however I may use the actor's name for a specific comment!

Overture

They did this SO well! I definitely missed seeing the cast in the aisles, but they projected the green eyes onto the stage, and it was the perfect amount of creepy/weird/hypnotizing.

I absolutely love the lights slowly being raised while shining all the spotlights, it sets the vibe PERFECTLY

also saying this now: the orchestra was incredible!

Prologue: Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats

right off the bat, we’ve a super sweet Demestrap moment, with Munkustrap checking on Demeter after the car! It was adorable!

Devon's voice is SO good for Munkustrap, also the man is TALL OH MY GOD

Tugger didn't get his "can you say of your bite that it's worse than your bark" line, which I was a little disappointed about. However, Zach as Bill Bailey is absolutely 10/10.

Brianna… the babiest Sillabub… so precious... so small...

There were some Victor and Gus moments, with them either standing near each other or sharing looks/touches, so if anyone ships them, y'all got your rarepair moment!

THE BOOT WAS SO LOUD LMAO

The Naming of Cats

A handful of the cats got right to the edge of the stage where the lighting was, so they were all glowing, and it was the BEST vibe.

Taylor was staring into my soul during the last verse so now I can say I've been vibe-checked by Coricopat.

Invitation to the Jellicle Ball

Hyla is the PERFECT Victoria!!!!! She's so incredibly graceful, she had the sweetest expression on her face, and ugh it was flawless.

Paul is also just an amazing Mistoffelees.

Munkustrap had literally the sweetest moment with Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer and I almost started crying. Right before Jennyanydots' song, when everyone's getting into place, Mungo and Rumple immediately went to Munkustrap and were cuddling his legs, and he gave them pets, and just oh my god T_T

Gumbie Cat

OKAY SO I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THE KITTEN SQUAD SO MUCH MY HEART

When everyone's setting up for Jennyanydots' song, after the nuzzles, the lights start to switch, and the kitten squad was trying to catch the lights on the ground while Munkustrap was looking at them with the fondest expression and i swear i cried a little bit over how cute they were.

SKIMBLE LOVES HIS WIFE SO MUCH AND WAS HELPING HER GET THE KITTENS INTO THEIR MICE COSTUMES

Plato, Alonzo, and Mungojerrie were great cockroaches, 10/10

The Gumbie Trio was so good! Their voices sounded amazing together, and they were all just having so much fun!

Rum Tum Tugger

The way Zach said "Who will it be?" was absolutely amazing, i loved it, 10/10 character introduction.

Jennyanydots stomped off when he interrupted her accolades, she was very upset.

Zach and Devon nailed Tugger and Munkustrap's sibling dynamic PERFECTLY, Devon was the best Tired Older Brother Munkus.

Yeah, this number pretty much confirmed Zach as my favorite Tugger.

Mistoffelees and Cassandra did some lounging together in the background on the car.

Chelsea's Bomba is absolutely *chef's kiss*, I adore her

Obviously Tugger and Mistoffelees did their little dance, and it was wonderful. I'm not sure if other shows had Mistoffelees do this, but he went between Tugger's legs at the end of his little solo and Tugger was just vibing.

MY FAVORITE MOMENT THOUGH had to be near the end of the song, Munkustrap was 100% getting into it, and Tugger went over to him and was teasing him, poking him, and it was the cutest brother interaction.

They did have the camera! Zach did some very Tugger poses, and it was great.

Grizabella the Glamour Cat

haha Tugger went to hide behind the metal bars on the furthest side of the stage away from Grizabella, I'm in ✨pain✨

Sillabub goes to touch Grizabella, Grandpa Skimble pulls her back and starts scolding her, I want to hug the baby.

No, but I did really love that moment. It's off to the side, but you can see him giving her a talking to, and she's trying to say something back, but he's very firm.

Mungojerrie egged George on to scratch Grizabella, George sweetie don't be mean.

Taylor has such a perfect voice for Grizabella, and I loved her look!

OKAY SO LAUREN AND CHELSEA'S VOICES

Lauren's voice is so smooth and suave, and Chelsea's voice has a little growl that almost made me pass out, like ma'am i'm in love? But their voices mixed together, as well as how slightly different they are was such a great choice, and I kind of hope that other future productions take note and have two actresses with vastly different vocals for Demeter and Bombalurina.

Bustopher Jones

Mistoffelees and Victoria go to great Bustopher together and it was the cutest thing, they were so excited to see him!

Munkustrap immediately grabbing Mungo and Rumple by the necks and steering the gremlins away from the Very Important Cat.

Tugger was keeping watch so Munkustrap could be silly with everyone else during Bustopher's number, and that's not something I'm forgetting. Usually, obviously, Munkustrap's sort of in the background, standing, watching, and not really interacting. But Tugger switched places, and was up on the scaffolding watching, and it was CUTE!

My Tuggandra crumbs, thank you Zach and Lexy, I'm indebted to you both.

Tugger literally was just lounging on the car during the end of Bustopher's song, just waving his arms around, and I love him.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer

Elana (Teazer for this show) had the PERFECT Rumple giggle!

They're so silly, I love them

They made the best facial expressions, especially when Mungo "stole" Rumple's pearls.

Very dramatic gremlin twins, jumping all over the place, not caring about anything!

They were so confident at the end of their song when they went to walk off, and immediately went into "oh shit" mode when Munkus, Plato, and Alonzo came out.

Run through the legs of Munkus! See Munkus, this is why you need to not stand with your legs apart when you're attempting to control kittens.

Old Deuteronomy

Saying it again, Devon and Zach are SUCH a good Munkustrap and Tugger.

The babies were so excited to see Old Deut! They could barely contain themselves, and then got cuddles! (Also Tanto was with the kittens and i love that for her, let her be a kitten!! I definitely got "big brother Cori/little sister Tanto" vibes)

Everyone's getting Deut nuzzles!!

Tugger did a VERY dramatic shimmy at his dad, and Deut laughed, and I cried.

Jennyanydots and Skimbleshanks being the Supervisors!!

There was a really sweet Jellylorum and Alonzo moment (def going to talk more about it in the Alonzo post), but my "Jellylorum is Alonzo, Tumble, and Pounce's Mom" hc is feeling SO VALIDATED TONIGHT

I've said this so many times, but I adore that Plato and Victoria get their own little solo before their Big Solo. It's so sweet, and Hyla and Adam have wonderful chemistry!

Tugger chases Bomba offstage before The Moment, and I love that for them

CUDDLE PILE!!!

Munkustrap and Demeter cuddled together in the corner away from the pile and I want to sob because they were just so sweet, her head was on his shoulder, and he was holding her, and literally everyone in this show has such good chemistry with each other.

Tugger looks up with the psychic twins during Grizabella's reveal, once again making me think that Tugger and Munkustrap have magic like their brother.

OH AND TUGGER DID THE STUPIDEST LITTLE DANCE WHERE HE WAS SHAKING HIS BUTT AND HAVING FUN AND MUNGOJERRIE LAUGHED AT HIM AND THEY HAD A MOMENT AND IT WAS GREAT

I always get emotional over Grizabella's dance before her song, it's such a telling moment, but unfortunately I don't think everyone understands that it's supposed to be a serious moment and not funny.

Deut sits on his tire the entire song and it's HEARTBREAKING

At the very end, Grizabella does the reaching back, and Deut reaches forward, and if you're sitting in the right spot it looks like they're touching and i'm NOT OKAY

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: Act 2

act 2 for my tour comments! this finishes the show, though i'll make another one or two posts about specific characters!

Moments of Happiness

Deut just... walked out with about 5 minutes left to intermission, and it was the best. I got some good Deut pictures because of that!

Coricopat and Tantomile greeting Cassandra was precious

I definitely get the vibes that Coricopat and Tantomile are Deuteronomy's "advisors" or something like that, because they're ALWAYS around him.

Ugh, Brianna has SUCH a sweet voice for Sillabub.

Tugger laying on the oven, he likes being tall 😌

The part where they all jump up and stand frozen??? Chills, literal chills.

Gus the Theater Cat/Pekes and Pollicles

The babies love storytime with Gus!!!

Plato was sitting behind the Kitten Squad, and I got massive big brother vibes from him, he just needs to make sure they aren't getting into trouble!

Demeter and BOmbalurina were on either side of Old Deuteronomy with Munkustrap standing behind them, and Mistoffelees was sitting on the pipe!! Family photo!

Tugger's still on the oven, i love it.

I love Kayli as Jellylorum! She's got the mothering personality down perfectly!

John is SUCH a great Gus, I love how dramatic he got.

Tugger and Mistoffelees exchanging a look and having an exchange with one another during the song, i love them.

OH OH SO once Munkustrap leaves to take over "Pekes and the Pollicles", Tugger goes to sit with Old Deuteronomy. He is literally having SO MUCH FUN during the play, he and Old Deut are so proud of Munkustrap.

Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat

First off, Christopher is Skimbleshanks. Just... he's Skimbleshanks.

Okay, so Skimbleshanks waved to Jennyanydots because she was up on the scaffolding watching, and my heart exploded.

Tugger was having the time of his life. He didn't steal the spotlight, but there was one moment where he was straight up headbanging and I couldn't stop laughing.

Christopher's mannerisms as Skimbleshanks were just perfect! He got the Skimble vibe down!

Macavity/Macavity Fight

OHHHHHHHHHH HERE WE GO

Macavity costume? Perfection, no one can tell me otherwise.

As soon as Macavity showed up, Munkustrap IMMEDIATELY went to shield Demeter from him. He had his back to Macavity and everything, and was looking down at her making sure she was okay.

Macavity attacked Munkustrap before kidnapping Old Deut, and the positions changed! Demeter crouched over Munkustrap, and Bombalurina and a few other cats went to check on him as Macavity left.

Lauren and Chelsea's vocals AGAIN!! Lauren's Demeter was perfect, she was bitter, a little reminiscent, but you could TELL there was very bad blood between Demeter and Macavity. Chelsea was such a good jaded Bombalurina, and their dynamic was amazing.

I love the idea of Sillabub being the youngest at the Ball, so she has to be shown what to do, follow the leader style, so she was the last queen to join the Macavity dance!

So I don't think we were meant to see, but right after "Macavity the Mystery Cat" ends, Macavity sneaks past Munkustrap to stand amongst the queens, most likely to surprise them. But I really love the idea of Macavity using his magic to surprise everyone by just appearing.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENES IN THE SHOW

Everyone has their choreography, and Demeter was the ONLY one who wasn't in unison. She was crouching on the edge of the stage, watching the fight, and it was SO well done.

Also the Fake Macavity (while Macavity in the Deut Suit... haha) had a Macavity mask that was actually kind of terrifying.

Mr. Mistoffelees

SOFT DEMESTRAP SOFT DEMESTRAP SOFT DEMESTRAP

Okay, but I ADORED the way they included the "Don't scoff" line. Tugger begins introducing Mistoffelees, everyone's kind of like "this isn't going to work", and they all start to leave the stage, and THEN Tugger says the line, almost pleading, and everyone's still a little hesitant but they listen.

Munkustrap wasn't very sure, but he listened

Zach is such a perfect Tugger (y'all i'm going to have a WHOLE post on him), and he and Paul just played off of each other so perfectly!

During the little mirror dance at the beginning of the number, Tugger just started doing his own thing, and it was the cutest, dorkiest thing.

They did sort of a strobe light thing, where the lights went off and on for like a second, and every time the lights went on Mistoffelees was in a different position, and it was great.

I love Cassandra's light-up costume!! And Tugger got so excited when she changed colors!!

I just really enjoy the lighting during this scene, it always makes me happy.

Everyone's touching each other right before, like reassuring each other, it was so sweet

Everyone's turned away from Grizabella except for Deuteronomy, Munkustrap, Victoria, and Tumblebrutus!

Tumblebrutus looked SO nervous, but he didn't stop looking at Grizabella until she made eye contact with him. Then he looked down, but he looked back up. After that, everyone started to turn!

"Touch Me" made me cry, as it always does

It looked like she was walking towards Tumblebrutus, but then she paused and reached behind her for Victoria! Tumblebrutus was the second one to touch her though!

Before they got on the tire, Grizabella held her tail, almost like a security thing T_T

For a hot second I couldn't breathe because of the fog machine, I was fine though

They didn't do the harness, which I was super happy about! They brought back the shiny Fancy Stairs, and that was SO cool.

The tire still flew, but the stairs came straight out, and then Grizabella stepped on and went offstage.

Ad-Dressing of Cats

I do have to say, this has never been my FAVORITE number.

I do really love seeing all the cats lined up though!!

Everyone's reactions to the food mentions were great, you could tell that they really thought about how they'd react.

I also forgot to say that during "Pekes and the Pollicles", when Gus came out as Rumpus and was spooking everyone, Tugger flicked his mane up like a hoodie and used it to hide and Deuteronomy did the same thing T_T

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: General Things

these are just general comments about things I liked that don't really fit into the specific songs!

I'll be posting my Act 1 and 2 comments tomorrow, it's very late for me here T_T

there was SO MUCH HISSING and I loved it. it really gave everyone a lot more emotion during the more tense and angry scenes.

okay every other production, I usually only hear the melody/higher parts of the harmonies, but I don't know if it's because of where I sat, or just this cast in particular, but I could hear every part of the harmony, and it made listening to the songs EVEN MORE enjoyable.

So many background interactions! Everyone is either cuddling with someone else, talking, making little motions, or reacting to what's happening in the center!

The makeup looked really good from where I was sitting (which was the second row from the stage), and so did the wigs!

I really just love how they used the stage. Even though they couldn't go into the aisles, they made the most of their space!!

i honestly don't know if it's because i started following the cast like a month before i saw the show so i kind of got to know them and saw their journey, or if it's because they've got SUCH good relationships with each other, or they're just THAT amazing, but there's honestly something about this cast that hits every single nail on the head with their performance.

Just, everyone was just the perfect version of their character, they all were having so much fun, and i just couldn't stop smiling the entire show.

so yeah, the US Tour 6 cast is quite honestly my favorite cast of Cats, honestly tied with the 1998 cast.

uppast's new tour comments!!

ok, so i saw the tour back in September, and i saw their first set of performances

after watching the two, i can definitely tell a difference in how everyone performed! they all just seemed so much more comfortable and able to settle into their roles, and seemed more comfortable with playing with each other and goofing around a little bit!

Act One:

ok first i have to say thank you to Sean for validating my "Jelly is Tumble's Mom" hc because during Jenny's song Tumble was playing with Jelly's tail and then with her paw and i was s o b b i n g

SKIMBLE WAS PROTECTING JERRIE WHEN GRIZABELLA SHOWED UP WOOP WOOP DAD!SKIMBLE SON!JERRIE ALERT

Misto is besties with Jerrie and Teazer, they kept giggling with each other and touching paws and they were so cute

Tugger had a super sweet moment with Gus during "Jellicle Songs" and if you all don't start talking about how Tugger absolutely loves the older cats i'm going to lose it

Munkustrap and Demeter were ALWAYS worried about each other, just looking to each other for reassurance when everything was happening, and just making sure they were both safe!!

Act Two:

so. many. nuzzles

that's definitely one thing i notice about this cast that i love!! their versions of the cats are so much more physically affectionate, they touch paws whenever they get close, they pat each other's fur, they cuddle, i absolutely love it!!

Munkustrap told Demeter to stay back when Macavity showed up, like he was very insistent and kept looking back at her like "it's okay, stay back, i've got this, please stay back" and good LORD Nick's Munkustrap had me crying he was so sweet!!!

OK SO Megan did a split track for Bombalurina and Jemima/Sillabub!

Act 1 she did all of Bomba's regular stuff, but act 2 was when she incorporated the Jemima moments (obviously), like during "Moments of Happiness", Gus' song, and the "Memory" duet!

It was really, really interesting to see Bomba singing Jemima's parts, and that led to me being very overly emotional over instead of "youngest most innocent cat accepts the outcast" we got "one of the most jaded and guarded queens accepts the desperate outcast" and yes i was SOBBING during the duet, no one touch me
