#unironically this was the plot of a star trek voyager episode

Not to keep New Voyages posting in 2024, but I do love that a bunch of obsessive trekkies who replicated the sets and props down to the smallest details and adapted a lot of actual unused scripts managed to accidentally (?) make a one-off background character several years older than he should be when they turned him into a reoccurring secondary character for their series
#therefore replicating the beautiful plot holes and inconsistencies inherent to og trek by sheer accident#this is not sarcasm btw I genuinely love this and their version of peter kirk is unironically among my fav trek characters#I have no concrete proof that it was by accident but the fact that he should be 15 at the oldest is never addressed in his episodes#regardless of whether it was an accident or not they did generally seem to be comfy taking creative liberties that served the story#and I think that's part of why it was so good#I'm not actually sorry for NV posting in 2024 I'm determined to resurrect its fandom by sheer force of will#bc I can't let the only people who know about it be a facebook group of middle aged men who can't handle one episode having a queer subplot#star trek new voyages

favorite star trek episode? and following that, favorite star trek episode for each series?
my FAVORITE of all time is THRESHOLD. the one where tom paris turns into a lizard because he went too fast. most cursed episode in the series. my second favorite is also a voyager episode called Macrovirus, where janeway is in a sweaty tank top and has a big gun and shoots a few 90s CGI’ed goops. its my favorite for… reasons. it literally made me gay when i was 11
as for each series, it goes like this!
TOS- amok time, obviously
TNG- any episode thats focused on data. Data’s Day is a favorite out of all of these but Lal centric episodes and Spot centric episodes are also a fave.
DS9- i actually liked the pilot episode! the concept of explaining linear time to 4th dimensional beings was really cool. sisko breaking down and saying that he constantly exists in the moment his wife died really sold it for me.
VOYAGER- outside of Threshold and Macrovirus, i really unironically loved B’lanna Torres and Tom Paris’s relationship focused episodes. the one where she tries to genetically modify her child to not look like a klingon because of the racism she experienced as a child was very touching to me as a mixed race person.
ENT- i didn’t watch the whole series because the post 9/11 nationalism was oozing from it but i liked the one where a white guy grew nipples on his hand
DISCO- forgot the name but the one where its revealed spock has vulcan-dyslexia.
LDS- all of them. theyre all the best. not because of plot or anything (although i was surprised the plot was good!) but because its FUN.
PICARD- honestly i tried to watch it but the whole show felt like a pharmaceutical ad. the resurgence against andriod tech didnt seem like a valid reason and it seemed like we were trying to piece together a mystery that…. didn’t really pan out to much. also there was a lack of glued on sequins and tacky props typical of star trek. it felt like they were using Data as character fodder and trying to replicate the success of Lal without understanding why Lal’s death was so emotional.
thank you for asking!! this was really fun :D
