When Robyn and Dane first contacted us about documenting their Emerald Lake Lodge Wedding, we knew it was going to be an amazing day. Robyn described her intimate wedding to include wilderness mountain photos with enchanted forest vibes. Something unique to the setting of Yoho National Park and definitly our style of wedding! Dane had proposed in New Zealand, so they wanted to celebrate the mountain landscape that has been an important theme throughout their relationship together.

It’s hard to find a prettier setting for a wedding than Emerald Lake Lodge. With cabins wrapped around the lake, you can have all of your guests stay on site and feel like you are in the middle of no where. No cell serive, no emails amongst all the beauty of nature. The cermony site is perched high above the bright blue water, with a postcard perfect view of the surrounding peaks. There is so much to see in the area including waterfalls, beautiful rivers and countless hikes to explore. It’s one of our favourite areas in the Canadian Rockies and we were so excited to be a apart of this wonderful day.

Their Story

Robyn, an Ontario girl, met Dane, an Aussie guy, in Jasper National Park. A story we know too well. After Dane returned to Australia, he realised he would never meet a woman as special as Robyn and he returned to Canada to be with her. They had spent the past five years living in Australia and this year had returned to Ottawa to continue the next steps of their lives. Step one, get married! With Robyn’s mom by her side as her maid of honour and Dane’s best man Shane, who he travelled to Canada with when he met Robyn. It was the perfect setting to say their vows, exchange rings and take the next steps of their adventure together. Married in the mountains where their love first developed.

After their ceremony we explored around the lake and then all jumped in our van and took a drive drive down Emerald Lake Road. We explored around the Kicking Horse river and Robyn ran through the forest in her white sneakers collecting sticks and leaves with her dress along the way. They were both down for an adventure and we had so much fun exploring with these two.  Back at the lodge, Robyn and Dane were greeted by their small group of family and friends. Gathered from all over the world to celebrate with them. Friends they had made while in Jasper when they met. As well as family from Ontario and Australia that had watched their relationship grow.

It was so special to watch these wonderful group of people come together and we feel so lucky that we were able to create all of these memories of the day. Congratulations Robyn and Dane, it was a pleasure being a part of your wild, enchanting wedding day!

Luxurious Chateau Laurier Wedding with Floral Tunnel

A beautiful wedding for a gorgeous bride! We are simply swept away by this luxurious Chateau Laurier wedding and its fabulous floral tunnel (definitely fragrant.). A grand ballroom with marvelous high ceiling looked so extra as it already is, the neutral color palette that most of us love, and oh, the low lying clouds kissing the dance floor, believe us, it’s another dream fairytale wedding came to life!

Toast Events and Wedecor did wonders on this magical union at the Chateau and Lace & Luce Photography didn’t miss to capture every bit of it.

From the bride:

Elias and I were introduced through mutual friends. At the time I lived in San Diego and him in Orange County. During one of our calls, Elias said, “I want to ask you to dinner, but under one condition. I get to pick the place and you can’t say no”. Little did I know, he picked a restaurant in Toronto and also asked me to be his date for his medical school reunion. I still can’t believe I got on a plane for a first date. Did I mention we hadn’t even met in person yet?!

Taking a leap of faith, I arrived in Toronto where we spent the day riding bikes throughout the historic downtown, sipping sangria by the harbour front. It was the start of something neither of us had ever experienced.

And just like that, one year to the day, somewhere on a beach in San Diego, he rode upon a white horse and asked her to marry him… Literally!” I knew he was the one very early on because I could not be without him. We spent all of our time together despite the distance. I kept a journal/prayer book of the “perfect man” that I had started when I was 19. Looking back, it’s kind of funny- but he fit the description, to the T; dark hair, green eyes with a curl that falls in front of his eyes, kind heart, strong personality. He was the one I had been looking for.

I remember the first time Elias took me to visit his family in Ottawa, Canada. It was Fall of 2016. We walked through Major’s Hill Park which was the first time I saw the Chateau Laurier. I recall being dazed and in awe of the castle thinking to myself “If I ever marry Elias, I want to get married there!” I have always been drawn to fairytales and old world romance so naturally, I wanted our wedding to have this same feeling as if you were transported through time in an enchanted castle.

We meticulously designed our wedding with Elise from Toast Events who brought our vision to life. Elise immersed herself in the design process using the grand ballroom and springtime in France as our main inspiration. She guided us to include the unique gold crown moulding details in our stationary, cake and stage design. Designed a spoked estate table floor plan which centered around our cherry blossom trees, and through various vendors, custom designed white draping to cover the existing 30ft burgundy curtains, imported rustic Parisian furniture and hand-carved charger plates from overseas. We also created a live floral tunnel to lead from our cocktail hour to the reception dinner. It was one of the magical highlights of the day. When I look back it was more then we could have ever dreamed.

My gown was also inspired by our chateau vision, I wanted something that was timeless with a modern twist. The Drillia by Pronovias was my vision put to life. From our horseback engagement on the beach to our castle reception our wedding felt like a modern fairytale.

Of course, this dazzling cake from Valentina Sweets deserves a spotlight!

Drawn to the detail, texture and ambiance of the Canadian Aviation Space Museum here in Ottawa, we were instantly inspired by it’s tall ceilings, vintage airplanes and rescue helicopters .
