Inquisition Companion Verse Info
tagging: whoever would like to do this!
Name: Laufey “The Just”, also answers to Faye Race: Human, Avvar tribe Class: Mage, Augur Specialization: Leviathan; a series of techniques that use her axe in conjunction with ice magic Gender Identity: Female Varric’s Nickname for them: Fairy (Tas suggested this so im using it)
Short bio:
Codex entry: Laufey
The appearance of an Avvar in Haven caused quite a stir! Despite the misgivings expressed by the Grand Chancellor, I believe having a variety of magical knowledge at our disposal will be an asset in dealing with the breach. Avvar also have a very unique relationship with spirits which may prove useful to [Inquisitor name] as they attempt to seal the tears in the veil.
She also appears to have brought her son who despite his young age is quite the accomplished archer.
Laufey speaks multiple languages, is more eloquent, knowledgeable, and more even-tempered than the stereotypes about her people would have you believe. When confronted by those with misgivings she defuses the situation -- exceptions being perhaps the overenthusiastic Templars who meet her in the sparring ring. It seems that even those who specialize in combating mages are ill-equipped to handle one who favours melee combat over using a staff.
Recruitment mission:
Upon completing at least two of Corporal Vale’s side quests, at least one of which must be Hunger Pangs, Laufey can be encountered in the Hinterlands defending some mages and villagers caught in the crossfire, from a group of Templars. If the Inquisitor aids her she will express thanks and acknowledgement that the Inquisition is doing the right thing by helping refugees. Having seen firsthand that they care about people and are the key to sealing the breach, Laufey offers to help.
Where they would be in Skyhold / Haven:
In Haven, either in the tavern or watching the soldiers spar. In Skyhold, she is either on the battlements or hanging out in the Herald’s Rest.
How to get their approval/disapproval:
Helping the refugees and people of Redcliffe will always lead to: Slightly Approves
Gaining Agents: Slightly Approves for Ritts, Clemence, Sky Watcher, Jana, Loranil, Sigrid, Helsdim; Slightly Disapproves for Michel, Tanner; no approval change for others
Fate of the Mages:
Conscript: Greatly Disapproves Ally: Greatly Approves
Fate of the Templars
Disband: Approves Ally: Greatly Disapproves
Inquisitor’s Lead:
A Dwarf/Elf/Qunari Stands for us all: Approves Example as a Mage: Greatly Approves For Faith: Disapproves For Order: Slightly Approves For What’s Right: Greatly Approves To Stop Corypheus: Approves For Personal Power: Greatly Disapproves For Vengeance: Disapproves
Fate of the Wardens

Ruler of Orlais
Gaspard: Greatly Disapproves Briala: Greatly Approves Celene: Slightly Approves Reunite: No approval change Spare Everyone: Slightly Approves Arrest Florianne: Slightly Approves Save Celene: Unchanged Kill Celene: Slightly Disapproves
(Explanation: Faye is mostly neutral on Celene, likes Briala and dislikes Gaspard a fair bit.)
Abelas Alliance
Ally: Approves Reject: Disapproves Inquisitor Drinks From the Well: Approves if elf or mage; Disapproves if anyone else Morrigan Drinks: Disapproves if Inquisitor is elf or mage; Approves if anyone else
Are they romanceable?
In theory and with heavy plotting.
Who are they friendly with?
Solas. She shares many of his sentiments with regards to spirits. Cole she finds curious and rather endearing. Appreciates Sera and Blackwall’s sense of humour. Can strike up a friendship with Bull, especially if the Chargers are not sacrificed. Faye is good at seeing the best in people and can potentially befriend anyone.
Who do they dislike?
Anyone who would try to convert her to the ways of the chantry or who favours the imprisonment of mages.
Opinions on mages / templars / how the world is going to shit?
Believes everyone should be free and that what the chantry teaches with regards to spirits and mages is dangerous and harmful. She sees the circles as creating the very problems they claim to prevent; after all her own people master their magic and commune with those beyond the veil just fine. The culture of fear when it comes to magic is the true root of the problem.
Something guaranteed to make them leave the party:
Any threat to Atreus, especially when he comes into his magic as a result of the breach.
Special Events:
Imprisoned at Redcliffe: How are they holding up in Redcliffe, being slowly infected with red lyrium over the course of a year?
She is an abomination now; in an effort to protect her, Jormungandr bonded with her like they did when Laufey was first learning to control her magic but unfortunately their combined power was still not enough to save them. Her voice is distorted and she’s visibly more affected by the red lyrium than the other party members, and a vague shimmering snake-like aura can occasionally be seen around her signifying the possession.
At the Winter Palace: Do they enjoy the party, any special events with them at the Palace?
She has never been to a party like this before and hopefully never will again. The most important thing about bringing her to the Winter Palace is she calls the ham that tastes of despair "depression meat". The Orlesians find her quite a curiosity, which she tolerates with good grace and an armful of wine.
In the Fade: Their reaction upon entering the Fade? Nightmare demon’s taunt, and their response? Fear on their grave?
Expresses shock and surprise at entering the raw fade but is otherwise mostly comfortable there. Perceives that this is a ‘pocket’ of the fade, the lair of something powerful. Nightmare, when he speaks, taunts her about her lost family and how she will fail to keep Atreus safe too. Faye responds that she has taught him to keep himself safe.
Trespasser: What were they up to two years after Corypheus’ defeat? Any special events with them over the events of Trespasser?
After the defeat of Corypheus she remained with the Inquisition a little longer as not all the rifts had been sealed. But eventually she returned to her home and resumed training her son, both continuing to hone his archery and in the mastery of his new magical abilities. Laufey has a friendly relationship with Stone-Bear and occasionally visits them and trades, but has no interest in formally joining their hold or marrying into it. A few of their hunters may have tried to claim her as a bride but all were defeated by her in combat.
Other Major Events: Any other major events that happen with them over the course of the main game?
None in particular.
