#uncertain if i want to fit in gawain's red hair with gwaine or to just leave it

some  thoughts.

i.  the  ring  on  gwaine’s  necklace  comes  from  his  mother,  anna.  it  was  a  plain  wedding  band  with  no  inscription.  the  dragon  scale  comes  from  his  father  who  died  in  service  when  gwaine  was  really  young.

ii.  gwaine  doesn’t  know  that  he’s  actually  lot’s  son.  his  mother  never  told  him.  anna  also  never  told  him  that  she’s  uther’s  sister  instead  of  arthur’s,  making  gwaine  arthur’s  cousin.

iii.   gwaine  probably  knew  about  merlin’s  magic  &  never  told  him  because  he  was  waiting  for  merlin  to  tell  him  first  because  it’s  merlin’s  secret  &  merlin  probably  had  a  good  reason  for  keeping  it  so  tightly  under  wraps.  he  trusted  merlin  enough  to  not  pry. 

iv.  gwaine  is  restless.  he  doesn’t  like  staying  still  in  one  place  for  too  long  &  even  though  it  tempers  over  the  years,  he  always  gets  that  itch  to  leave  &  travel  for  a  bit.  he  loves  being  free.  being  free  to  choose  where  he’ll  go,  to  not  have  any  ties  holding  him  down.

v.  on  the  subject  of  magic,  he’s  neutral  towards  it.  he  seems  to  know  a  fair  amount  about  it  just  through  his  travels  &  he  thinks  it  neither  good  nor  evil,  but  rather  just  a  fact  of  life.

vi.  after  the  whole  green  knight  debacle,  gwaine  occasionally rides  out  to  wirral,  though  what  he  does  no  one  knows.  he  wears  the  green  girdle  (  *  belt,  really  )  underneath  his  armour  as  a  reminder  of  his  falter.
