India's World Cup victories against their arch-rivals :
India's World Cup victories against their arch-rivals :
The eagerly anticipated game has begun. The anticipation for Saturday, October 14's Cricket World Cup 2023 championship game between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad is high. As the bitter rivals square off in an ODI encounter for the first time in four years, the cricketing world will be watching from the West Indian metropolis.
The impact players in India's World Cup victories against their arch-rivals The buildup to the high-profile game could not have been better for India and Pakistan. Before annihilating Afghanistan in New Delhi, Rohit Sharma's team opened their campaign with a comprehensive victory over Australia in Chennai by choking the 5-time champions with spin. As India secured an 8-wicket victory and made their intentions known as one of the top 4 teams, captain Rohit scored an incredible century and set a number of records.
Cricket World Cup 2023: Full Coverage
On the other side, Pakistan began its World Cup campaign with a nail-biting victory over the Netherlands in Hyderabad before completing the most successful chase in tournament history against Sri Lanka. Pakistan left Hyderabad with a flawless record and fond memories after receiving a warm welcome and treatment. The Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world, where the action now is, is getting ready to put on a spectacular performance. Although there was no opening ceremony for the World Cup, a special musical presentation and performances were planned for the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan to emphasize the significance of the match. In the lead-up to the match on October 14, India's 7-0 record has dominated. The Asian heavyweights may have lost their unblemished T20 World Cup record, but Pakistan has yet to defeat India in an ODI World Cup match since their first encounter in 1992. Here is a list of India's key players from their past 50-over World Cup victories over Pakistan. Sachin Tendulkar, who has won three Player of Match honours in high-profile World Cup matches, was undoubtedly a major obstacle for Pakistan's hopes of defeating India.
2019
India maintained its perfect record against Pakistan in their 22nd game of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, winning handily at Old Trafford, Manchester. The performance of Indian opener Rohit Sharma, who smashed an amazing 140 runs off 113 balls and helped India record a formidable total of 336/5, was the game's high point. Pakistan blocked the then vice-captain's rage in 2019 when Rohit was in fantastic form in Old Britain. Rohit destroyed the Pakistani bowling lineup with 14 boundaries and three sixes. Virat Kohli joined the celebration after KL Rahul scored fifty, making it a lopsided contest. .According to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, Pakistan could only achieve 212/6, falling short by 89 runs despite rain delays that cut the game's length to 40 overs. India's domination against Pakistan in World Cup matchups was further cemented with this game, retaining their perfect record.
2015
India beat Pakistan handily in Adelaide during the 2015 ODI World Cup, winning by 76 runs. Virat Kohli's outstanding performance in the game, in which he struck a stunning century, stood out. India scored 300 runs in their opening innings while losing seven wickets, with Kohli scoring an important 107 runs. His century, along with half-centuries from Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, gave Pakistan a difficult goal to meet. Pakistan made an effort, but they were bowled out for only 224 runs in 47 overs. This victory was greatly aided by Kohli's match-winning century, which furthered his reputation as a dominant force on the grandest of all stages. Misbah-ul-Haq's 76 for Pakistan was in vain as Mohammed Shami shone with a 4-wicket haul, while Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav both claimed 2.
