like. imagine if people took even a quarter of the energy they're currently spending on asserting that ‘humans are the only ones who should be allowed to consume a bunch of written work, gain some understanding from that of how stories and language typically function, and then produce their own narratives featuring stylistic and structural elements that also appear in the work they soaked up!!1!’ and used it to, say, look up sources for all the art by contemporary working artists they’ve reblogged without payment or even credit, and add information about how to support those artists onto their reblogs…
#you wanna talk entitlement? let’s talk abt all the aesthetic blogs that actively stripped attribution from images for the last decade+#anyway. of course it's possible‚ even likely‚ that some of the people complaining abt the evils of AI are also good abt crediting#very few things are actually zero-sum and this isn't one of them#but like. broadly speaking? ppl on social media in general‚ and on tumblr in particular‚ have been awful abt this#and now in 2023 it's like. 'how could anyone not want to pay human artists!! shocked pikachu face screenshot i pulled off giphy for free!'#ultimately the bigger issue is obviously corporations' reluctance to pay artists for their work#but it's just like. the hypocrisy and inconsistent principles DO get me#people who are artists and writers themselves will reblog uncredited art! and it's like. jesus. if even *you* guys can't be bothered…#(ok getting off my soapbox now for realsies 🧼)
