UM AIGHT SO I'd say my main main fandom is the Life Series! From season 1 to the latest season there's 3rd Life, Last Life, Double Life, Limited Life, Secret Life, Real Life (april fools special), and Wild Life that just ended tdy. It is a improv death game series packed with shenanigans, alliances, betrayals, and ofc fun, with different minecraft gimmicks every season <3 Up to u if u want to watch from the first season (there are several movies from different povs, I'd say Grian's is a good starting point) or watch some from the latest series Wild Life to get a feel for it :D (lizzie's episodes are relatively short if you prefer that!)

And then after that go watch animatics oh my god theyre so good, also consume fanart, and fyi the tag we use on tumblr for life series are #trafficblr and #traffic smp o7

AND THEN if u end up liking some of the content creators (ccs), a lot of them are also on Hermitcraft which is kinda my secondary fandom ish :D! A lot of fun shenanigans and amazing building happen there. The current season is season 10, and I'd say you dont really need to watch previous seasons to understand the current one 🫡 (same for life series, tho ofc a lot of people make references back to previous series) (but also I recommend watching hermitcraft season 8 if u have time its SO GOOD)

This is so so stupid but I got very happy when I read in your strawpage you are from 2003 too, I've lurking around seeing your art ever since DOL caught my eye and you're one of my favourite artists so having that bit in common is cool! Also if you haven't played Fields of Mistria or Homicipher I definitely recommend them! The first one is similar to Stardew Valley in the sense you're a farmer, you can decorate your house and romance any of the bachelors/bachelorettes but this one is more fantasy-like and the artstyle reminds me of 80s anime and Sailor Moon. The second came out recently and I haven't played it yet but I saw the trailer and some fanarts; you wake up in a terrifying unknown world where you have to survive and the romance options are very creepy men, one of the appeals of this one is trying to learn the world's language, it looks fun

✧･ﾟMy Top 5 Reads of 2024 ✧･

I read 105 books in 2024, and these are my top 5 reads (no spoilers).

(1) The Shepard King series by Rachel Gillig—I love everything about this series 💖. Ok, so, there's a magic system with these tarot cards used within an extremely corrupt system. Each main character gets an incredible arc where they figure out how to fight the corruption in their world, and after the first 100 pages of One Dark Window, it's like every page following until the end of Two Twisted Crowns is pay off. I loved the writing style. There's nothing I didn't like about these books. No notes. Perfect. If I had to be extremely picky, I thought maybe they could scrub their faces and have a ghost of a smile a little less.

(2) The Captive Prince series by C.S. Pacat—Damen and Laurent. Fucking incredible. Prince's Gambit is one of the best books I've ever read bc Damen and Laurent are some of the best characters I've ever seen written. The way Pacat took their family history and molded it into this coming of age / taking back their power / love story is chef's kiss 😘. When I think of enemies to lovers, it's Damen and Laurent. Top tier banter. Hands down. I felt like the abuse Laurent suffered could have been explored in a way where it added more to his character's arc, and I thought it was a little bit unplausible Damen couldn't figure that one out. Tho that stems from an overall general feeling where things towards the end felt rushed to me. But such a great series.

(3) The Emily Wilde books by Heather Fawcett—I'm hype for the 3rd book coming out in 2025. I love it. I eat this shit up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner 🍽️. It's a good time. We have Emily Wilde who is an academic who essentially studies the fae and her bat shit charming coworker, Wendell Bambleby, who is an exiled faerie king. It's giving Mary and Dick from 3rd Rock from the Sun, and that's my favorite show. I'm living for it. I love watching these two goofballs fumble their way through their adventures, and I really never want it to end. This is my happy place.

(4) Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater—Elias. He's a grumpy wizard who meets his match in the form of a cursed girl named Dora. Their banter is excellent, and their romance is heartfelt. Elias tries to help lift Dora's curse and, in the process, they end up uncovering a much greater evil in the world that Elias has to come to terms with. There's a lot of heart in this book, great characters, heart wrenching themes, and fun dialogue.

(5) Dark Rise series by C.S. Pacat—Pacat has a way of writing sexual tension into the most ordinary things? Even a scene where Will is tying up a boat sounds sexual. The first couple pages of this book give hot guy about to experience the spiciest bdsm, even tho that's not what's happening. At the heart of it, this is the story of Will and James, and how they are coming to terms with who they are and who they want to be. There's plenty of plots, schemes, magic and interesting characters unraveling around them. I can't recommend it enough! 💖

3. What were your top five books of the year?

so far:

1. bog child by siobhán dowd. my aunt texted me out of the blue to recommend this book to me and said she’d lend it to me and honestly it really is the kind of book that makes you want to recommend it randomly to everyone. it’s set during the troubles in the 80s and follows an 18 yo boy who discovers the body of an iron age child in a bog. meanwhile his older brother is on hunger strike in prison. it’s just really beautifully written imo and moving without being too heavy, i loved it

2. kala by colin walsh. 15 years after their friend’s murder, a group of friends reunite for the first time in years and try to figure out what happened to her. i literally couldn’t put this down lol it’s so good. also the fictional town it’s set in is very heavily based on galway where i used to live which was fun

3. small things like these by claire keegan. both the book and movie are just perfect imo, it’s gorgeously written and you can read it in a day bc it’s short. in the best way possible i felt like i was constantly on the verge of tears even during the parts that weren’t that sad lol, it’s just very moving without being overly sentimental

4. learned by heart by emma donoghue. i feel like this post is going to be really long so i’m going to stop writing so much lol but this was incredible, it’s about anne lister’s time in boarding school and the writing is brilliant (the end is devastating tho so be warned)

5. did ye hear mammy died?: a memoir by séamas o’reilly. séamas o’reilly’s mother died when he was 5, leaving him and his 10 siblings to be raised by their father in derry during the troubles, and this is about his childhood. surprisingly hilarious but it did make me cry at the end

(just realised these are literally all by irish writers lmao she may be biased) (i swear i don’t just read irish writers though 😭)

9. Did you get into any new genres?

hmm nothing brand new but i did read a few memoirs, which i don’t read a lot of normally! it’s still not one of my favourite genres though

But I’d recommend a series called ‘Every normal day in AlansPC’. I’ll probably link the series at the end of this for you to read whenever you want. They’re all one shots, and generally are fun to read!

There’s also a good fic where Yellow is insecure and stuff during the Influencer Arc, and it’s such a good character study, at least in my opinion

The series isn’t too long, with about 1k ish words each (and only 3 fics so far), and the character study is like, 600 words. But there’s a few fics I recommend that’s pretty recent, but I’ll probably try and find some others that I remember reading. (It’s been a hot sec since I read any AO3 AvM/Ava fics besides these…)

A (Hopefully) Helpful Guide on How I Make My Bracelets!

My lovely friend @lobot0mmy wanted a tutorial on how I made this bracelet, so I figured I would just post one to the masses!

I'm going to be making the Stump Club bracelet for this tutorial 👍

Step 1: Pick your string! I personally use embroidery thread. I got mine in a multi-pack from Walmart, but you can get a decent amount on Amazon for $5.99.

DISCLAIMER: I do not measure anything in this tutorial! Just eyeball it and experiment to see what works for you.

Step 2: Take three strands of said thread and tie them in a knot.

Step 3: If you have a needle threader, cool! Use that. In the instance you don't, like me, just use some clear thread. Make the clear string into a (w/o tying it!) and load your beads onto it. Like this:

Step 4: Place all three strands into the loop and pull the string through the beads. Then, tie another knot to secure this sequence of beads.

-> PROTIP: After you tie your knot, tape your knot to a flat surface so it's easier to braid. I personally like to tape mine to my monitor stand :)

Step 5: BRAID!!! If you don't know how to, look it up! This braid will become the part you will tie your bracelet with. Once complete, tie another knot.

Step 6: Separate your strands, making sure it lays flat on your surface. Strands that overlap can cause crooked bracelets, and we do not want that here!

Take your first strand (the left most) and make a 4 shape with the middle strand. Take the tail of your first strand and put it through the loop. Hold down your middle strand as you pull the knot up. In my experience, not holding it down can also result in a crooked bracelet. I'm not sure what this knot is called, but you're going to do it about five times on each side.

Step 7: Time for beads! I would recommend you get your beads out BEFORE you start making the bracelet (unlike me, being ill prepared for this tutorial). Once again, and say it with me, MAKE SURE YOUR STRANDS DO NOT CROSS OR ELSE YOU WILL GET a CROOKED BRACELET! Anyways- slide your letter beads onto the middle strand. Repeat the little knot technique on each side to secure the beads in place.

-> OPTIONAL: If you're doing multiple words, repeat step 7 between words. If you're doing a longer phrase, you should probably do 2-3 knots on each side instead of five.

To finish your bracelet, repeat steps 7, 6, and 1.

And there you have it! A bracelet! Yippee!

Thankyu for this request i am flattered u would think fondly of my music taste as i find it to be very typical-aging-hipster-shit xD <3 honestly i never listen to music to sleep, because music makes me so hyper, even calm music, i find to be extremely stimulating & takes my mind+emotions in a million directions !

When i go to sleep i listen to rain sounds & solfeggio frequencies, usually 396hz or 417hz cus anything higher pitched than that keeps me up. Also my lower chakras have always been my troubled areas so i attempt to heal them w sound therapy

i started a playlist for U tho regardless ^^ its only like 30 songs so far cus most the music i listen to is on the faster peppier side. But i will keep adding to it as more songs on the softer side pop into my awareness !

starting it w loch raven as its one of my all time fav song & i used to listen to it on repeat when i took afterschool naps in 10th/11th grade. in middle school i wld also sleep to a playlist of 5 repeating enya songs. those r the only times ive ever been able to sleep to music idk what happened !
