Try not to cry challenge
Summary: “Today, we’re going to do this little tradition of ours called the try not to cry challenge.”
“Oh boy...”
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Warning: insinuated dirty stuff (nothing happens, don’t worry your precious, innocent heads)
Wordcount: 2400+
AN: ‘Ello! Sorry I’ve been gone for the last few days! I was celebrating my brithday and well... stuff got a bit out of hand... haha. Have this little fluffy ficlet about our precious Tommy boy as an apology. I’ve got a few more that I’ve been working on and they’ll be out soon. Hope you guys like this!
PS. Please tell me what I can do to improve my writing skills! Thank you!
The slate snapped shut with a loud whack, just as Tom straightened up and stared into the camera. The lights were blinding and his glasses didn’t help deflect the harsh light, rather amplifying and mirroring it. He smiled despite himself – his rehearsed yet kind smile.
He somewhat resented Y/N forcing him into this even while on break, but what could he do? He couldn’t possibly say no to her when she batted those lashes in his direction and uttered “Pretty please?”. The fact that she was such a huge fan of FBE and their React videos didn’t exactly help his case.
“Hi Tom, we are so excited to have you here today,” Benny said.
“It’s great to be here,” Tom smiled to the camera, waiting for any kind of instruction.
Benny looked at him with an almost wicked smile, as though he knew something Tom didn’t. “With the new Loki series coming soon, we are going to do a challenge,” he said.
Tom furrowed his eyebrows quizzically. “What type of challenge?” he asked. He was sure he was going to just be in a react video, he hadn’t heard anything about any kind of challenge.
“This is a favorite of ours. We prepared a series of videos,” Benny walked closer to Tom, who could finally see that he was carrying a box of tissues in his hands, “and the challenge is to try not to cry,” Benny said.
“Oh boy…” Tom shook his head, chuckling lightly. Leave it to Y/N to get him into something like this.
“After each video, whether or not it made you cry, we’ll ask you to rate the video on a scale of one to five based on how emotional you thought it was.” Tom looked at Benny with a look that screamed “Are you serious?”, but Benny only walked closer. “And one more thing, we have something for you, just in case.” By now Benny’s smile was more than evil-looking to Tom. It was diabolical, like he had planned this whole thing in advance, like he knew he would never get this chance again.
“Allright… you guys… Here we go, first time I cry on video without a cue.” Tom shook his head and as soon as Benny moved back to his spot, the first video started playing on the laptop in front of him.
The screen came alive to three kids and two cheerleaders. The stadium was packed. Everyone cheering loudly as a voice came through the intercom. “Everyone turn your attention please to the video board for this special message.” The camera panned to the video board, a video of a soldier lit up the screen. Tom realized this man was probably the kids’ father, and he knew exactly where the video was going. He could already feel his heart warming as the video ended and the camera panned back to the kids. They were all crying quietly, hands raised to their mouths. That soon changed though, as they were happily laughing and hugging their father, who had come home from war.
The screen once again went blank, and everyone was expecting to hear Tom’s reaction.
“So, what did you think of that?” Benny asked.
Tom gathered his thoughts quickly, having been so immersed in the video that he had forgotten to comment anything. “You know, this sort of stuff makes you think about what some families have to go through to see each-other. I… I wasn’t very close to my father before, but that’s now thankfully changed…” Tom took a pause, thinking about how Y/N had forced him to reignite his relationship with his father. How sad he had been when he had found out that hers had died because of war. “Something like this… really makes you think. It really makes me grateful for what I have. Because I know some people don’t get that. And that I should be grateful.” Tom looked back to the screen, expecting the next video to come on.
“What… What would you rate the video?” Benny asked, somewhat startled by how much Tom had to say about such a short video.
Tom looked back up and into the camera, “Oh, that’s a five for me.”
The screen lit up once again, a bright flash of light startling Tom. He blinked his eyes rapidly, only to focus once again on the beginning scene of Up. His hands started trembling as he remembered the first time he had watched that movie. It was no Shakespeare, but it was a very heart-warming and at the same time heart-wrenching film. The story of Ellie and Carl was one that was very close to his heart.
The screen turned black and he turned to the camera. “You might not believe this, but this is one of my favorite movies,” Tom said.
“Really, why?” Benny asked.
Tom took a deep breath, “Well, for one, the story is incredibly captivating and so heartwarming. The visuals are incredible and so colorful, and I really appreciate that in a movie.” Tom sighed before he continued on with his rant, “Also it has one of the most important lessons I’ve ever learnt. That is: never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Live life to the fullest. Don’t worry… it’s such a great lesson to learn.”
“Where does that rank?” Benny asked.
“On an emotional scale, that’s a five,” Tom answered.
Benny shook his head, he had a feeling that he would never be able to break what seemed to be Tom’s mask. Even though he knew Tom spoke from the heart, he had yet to shed a tear. But he still ranked all the videos a five. “All right… This is the last video we have. It was sent in by one of our fans,” Benny said, smirking.
‘All right…’ Tom thought to himself as he turned back to the screen as it turned white. He could see a wedding dress and a field. He could see two people holding hands, walking carelessly through the green grass. He could suddenly feel his breath getting caught in his throat. He knew that field. He knew those hands.
“Y/N Y/L/N,” he heard his own voice coming through the headphones. His heart beating in his chest. “You are my life, my love, my everything, but above all, you are my best friend. You know me better than anyone in this world and somehow, you still manage to love me.”
The scene changed to that of their vows. Their families around them. Their friends. He could see the smile on her face, and the tears in his eyes. He was always the more emotional of the two. “Today, I join my life to yours.” Tom took a deep breath. “I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle.” He could feel the tears stinging at his eyes as he continued to watch and listen. “I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple and when it is an effort.” The music stopped, the video concentrating on only his voice as the screen slowly turned white.
“I promise you all of me, just as you have promised me all of you. One half of me is yours, the other half is yours. Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours. And so, all yours.”
The screen turned black just as Tom prepared himself for her vows. He thanked the lords they had left that part out, because that would’ve had him bawling his eyes out, without regret or shame.
Tom turned back to the camera, biting on his lower lip while grabbing for a tissue. He sent Benny a death-glare jokingly as he shook his head. “I think I know which fan sent you that video,” he said.
Benny put both his arms up in mock defense, as if he had no input in this. “So… do you know what video you just watched?” he asked.
Tom rolled his eyes as he dried his wet cheeks. “That was my wedding video, you wanker. How the hell wouldn’t I know it?”
Benny laughed, even when mildly annoyed, Tom still managed to be charming. “Well, what did you think of it?” he asked.
“I think…” Tom started, before he stopped himself to think, “This video was supposed to be private… but a little snippet won’t hurt anyone. Honestly, that day was the best day of my life. The start of my life together with one of the most wonderful and talented people on this planet.”
The people around Tom awed, touched by Y/N and his relationship. “Talented indeed. We all know that you are Hollywood’s most loved couple, but apparently Y/N is about to grace the screen as Loki’s love interest, Sersi. Did you have any say in her getting that role?” Benny asked.
Tom laughed aloud, as if the notion was simply ridiculous. “No, I didn’t have any say in that. Though I do like to think that it was our chemistry that helped her get the role, it was all her. Talent, impeccable acting, wild personality. Put those three together and you’ve got my Y/N.”
Benny nodded, trying to get on with the video which had slowly turned quite lengthy. “So, what did you think of the video?” he asked.
Tom bit his lip, smiling bashfully. “That was a 10. Honestly, any other touching clip would’ve been a five, because, as an actor, I can tap and understand the feelings of what those people are going through. Sometimes, I’ve been through those things. Other times, I’ve acted them out. But, to have something like that shown to me… I cry every time.”
“Well, thank you for joining us today, Tom. I hope you enjoyed this as much as we did. Anything else you would want to tell our viewers?”
“Thank you so much for having me. I love you all and I wouldn’t be where I am without your support. Please show the love and support you’ve given me to the new Loki series, starting on….”
Tom finished filming, shook everyone’s hand and was one his way home to one certain minx.
The loud music startled him as soon as he opened the door to their apartment. It was nothing new, really, Y/N loved to blast music whenever she was cooking.
“Darling?” he called out as he pulled off his shoes. He got no response, so he made his way into the kitchen.
The sight of her never ceased to amaze him – dancing in one of his older dress shirts as she used a wooden spoon as a makeshift mic, belting the lyrics out to whatever song she was listening to. Her hands moved up into the air as she danced, the white shirt slipping up her hips and allowing Tom the wonderful sight of her behind in one of those lace undies that drove him wild.
He moved behind her, hands on her hips as she slowed down into a little sway. Her hands moved to his as they snaked around her waist and he hummed lightly to the melody, directly in her ear.
“You’re home,” she said, spinning around to face him. She played with the top buttons of his top, smiling softly up at him.
“I am,” he answered, leaning in to press a soft, chaste kiss on top of her lips. She looked up into his eyes as he pulled back, and couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped her throat as she noticed his red eyes.
“How was it?” She turned back to the stove, where she was preparing their favorite meal. She stirred into the pot, as if it was the most normal thing ever, but she knew what was to come.
“Oh… it was nice. They were very welcoming and professional,” Tom answered simply. “I had to partake in this try not to cry challenge.” His hands moved back to her middle, fingers pressing lightly into her soft skin as he moved her shirt up.
Y/N bit on her lower lip, there it was. It was coming. “How was that?” she asked.
Tom chuckled darkly in her ear. “Oh, it was fine. I was doing fine. Up to the point where they showed me this video one of their very loyal fans had sent in. I was bawling my eyes out,” he said.
“Is that so?” She continued to stir into the pot, though Tom actually had all of her attention.
“Mhm.” He pulled her hands away, pressing a kiss onto her left ring finger. “Any idea who could’ve sent in our wedding video?” he asked, moving her hair to the side as his lips attached themselves to the nape of her neck. He left a trail of wet kisses up to her ear, his breath tickling her skin.
She gasped as his teeth attached themselves to the love of her ear, her breath coming out ragged and sharp. “I haven’t got the slightest clue,” she said, her voice soft and almost moan-like.
“That so?” he purred into her ear. “You think it’s funny? Getting me to cry on camera?”
Her chest suddenly felt tight, she knew he knew from the beginning, but to hear the words coming out of his mouth still had an effect on her. “Maybe a little.”
“Wrong answer, love. I’ll have to punish you.” He threw her over his shoulder, turning the stove off before he made his way to their bedroom.
He threw her onto the bed and she bounced slightly as she landed with a thud. He went to undo the buttons of his shirt, when suddenly his lips pulled into a mischievous smirk. He knew this was what she was expecting. His hands stopped and he made his way over to her. Climbing on top of her, he looked directly into her eyes, trying his best to look ravenous. “Little Miss Hiddleston thinks she’s so smart. She thinks she’s so funny,” Tom said, as both his hands attached themselves to her sides.
“Well, what are you going to do about that, Mr. Hiddleston?” she asked, batting her lashes in his direction.
He almost gave his idea up, but he wasn’t going to just let her off the hook that easily. “Something you won’t expect.” His fingers suddenly jolted and Y/N’s eyes widened.
Laughter could be heard from all the way down the street as Tom and Y/N fought their very own little tickle war.

Breakfast with Chelsea
It seems crazy to think about in the age of social media, smartphones, and streaming services, but the internet is still new. Do you remember a time before Google? Do you remember dial up? Do you remember the first smartphone? All of these advancements have taken place very quickly, but there are entire generations who have never lived in a world without iPhones, while some, like myself, have the annoying noise dial-up internet made drilled into our memories forever. Now we live in a world of almost endless possibilities through technology. We’ve gone from growing up with our favorite sitcom actors to growing up with our favorite YouTubers. Nowadays most YouTubers are self-taught, but in the beginning, a lot of the big names on the platform were the underdogs of traditional media. Names like Casey Neistat, of course, come to mind, but also Benny and Rafi Fine, who went from filmmaking to YouTube juggernauts with their React series. Last week I got to sit with one of the first ever teen reactors Chelsea, who has threaded the needle between traditional and digital media entertainer for years. From voice acting commercials to web skits and react videos, Chelsea has left her mark in so many projects and in so many forms you may not have realized she was there. Now she streams on Twitch and has amassed a beautiful, supportive community she calls The Walker Horde, based off her love for The Walking Dead.
So how did your entry into traditional media happen?
I’ve been dancing since I was six. A friend of mine asked me to come with her to an audition for a singing role, and I could audition as a backup dancer. We both auditioned and we both ended up getting the part. So, since we’d be doing music videos we decided to take an acting class. Funny enough, my first acting teacher was Adrian R'Mante (Esteban from Suite Life of Zack & Cody.) I fell in love with it, I saw a chance to pursue a career in something I really love. So I got an agent and just started auditioning and going for whatever’s next.
3 Breakfast must haves?
Potatoes of some kind
Pancakes, French Toast, or Waffles
Coffee
What is the source of your obsession with The Walking Dead?
It’s the story. I’ve always loved horror, but TWD has this amazing story that is about the people, not the zombies but set in a horror scenario. There’s never been anything like it done this well. I was twelve when it came out and was transitioning out of dance so I wasn’t seeing many of my friends. It kept me happy and excited for each week with new episodes. Later when I found the fandom online, everyone is so loving and supportive, it gives a strong sense of community. It helped me through my teenage years.
Ok so I have to ask at least 2 questions about FBE, so first, I know you’re from the era when they used casting sites, so how did all that go down, what was on your mind when you first joined?
I’d just started getting into acting, seeing if I liked it, and there was a casting call. So, I originally auditioned for kids react but didn’t hear anything for a little bit. Later on I got an email inviting me to be on teens react. Before that, YouTube was barely on my radar. I was so into movies and tv that I never saw it as a creative platform.
Second, which 2 reactors and 2 Walking Dead characters would you select to help you survive the zombie apocalypse?
Rick, cause he just doesn’t die. Carol is really loyal. Norah is super smart so she’d be helpful with medical and engineering needs, and then Dionte, cause he’d be a fun person to have to keep your morale up at the end of the world.
So, the zombie apocalypse is here and you only have 3 songs to keep you going. Which songs are they?
Never Let It Die- Watsky
Phoenix- Fall Out Boy
Cold Cold Cold- Cage The Elephant
How did you go from doing the voice of Barbie commercials to taking down villains on Twitch?
I’ve been doing voiceovers for a while, whenever they pop up. I have two sides to my personality cause I love horror but at the same time I like cute, happy girly stuff. There’s so much to look at and enjoy in everything. Crazy special effects gore, happy endings that warm your heart, I love it all.
What’s your goal? Or your dream?
It sounds cliche, but happiness. I keep my dreams big but my goals small. I like to focus on each step. I just want to make people happy and leave the world better than I found it.
As someone who's worked on both sides, what, for you, is the key difference between digital and traditional media?
Both are really different depending on the scale. In a major picture, everyone has a schedule and a place and you have to stay there. It’s a little more stressed and high pace. With digital, there’s nothing really set in stone cause you’re your own boss and you don’t know if it’s gonna take off or if you’re getting anything out of it. At the end of the day, regardless of platform, you’re creating content.
Your journey is absolutely mind-blowing, how do you process the roller coaster you’ve been on?
I’m still figuring that out. I wake up most of the time in awe. I never thought of Twitch as a job, but now I focus on it and do it multiple times a week. Sometimes I sit and start happy crying cause I don’t understand everyone’s love and generosity. I don’t know what I do that makes people happy, but I’m going to keep doing it. As an actor, you face rejection every day, so to come into this much love is amazing. I’m in awe of it.
Would you ever go full traditional or full digital? If something called to me in traditional I would definitely give it my all, but I’d never fully stop streaming or creating content in other ways. I love interacting with the community there, it makes me so happy. I could never just drop it like that.
Do you know how awesome you are?
No, that’s not a word I would use to describe myself.
Chelsea may not think of herself as awesome, but the multitude of people who tune into her streams and get excited when she pops up in YouTube videos definitely do. In a way, the societal shift from traditional to digital media is a huge piece of her story. Who knows, she could’ve been the next coming of age teen movie actress, or the single survivor in a b list horror film, instead, she’s our digital zombie loving hero, and so much more. She’s bringing joy to so many people every day. For most of us, she entered our lives six years ago through React, and now we watch her freak out when people donate in Twitch, we donate to charity streams, and we even make jokes about her gaming chair and it’s plans to take over the world. Chelsea is a genuine person and a genuine entertainer. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Decline and Fall of A Demon Phannie
Note: I wrote this really for my own entertainment, because I was curious to see the timeline and progression of how exactly I ended up in this ridiculous state so quickly.
4/9/12-3/28/13: I first discovered the concept of vlogging when I watched the YouTube series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The main character in LBD is a YouTube vlogger, but I didn’t understand that this was really a “thing.”
2/12/16: I first discovered the concept of professional “YouTubers” when I saw Tyler Oakley on "The Amazing Race.” (Prior to this I mostly just used YouTube to occasionally watch funny cat videos and Johnlock fanvids.)
5/14/16 or so: I started watching Tyler Oakley's videos in a casual way. I discovered that he had appeared in a number of episodes of FBE’s "YouTubers REACT" and I started watching that series. I had no idea who all these other so-called “YouTubers” were, but I slowly became rather fond of these two funny British guys who showed up occasionally, so I after a while I looked up their channels.
7/1/16-7/14/16 or so: I binged on DnP uncontrollably. First I watched all of Phil's videos (both main channel and side channel) in chronological order, then did the same with Dan's, then did the same with the gaming channel, then did the same with The Super Amazing Project, then looked for any other video they appeared in. I think I walked away from the computer about 5 times during those couple weeks, probably only for emergency bathroom breaks.
7/18/16: TATINOF was at the Paramount Theater, just a few miles from my house. Just a couple days later, I excitedly looked up their tour dates and was heartbroken that I’d just barely missed it (though I’m sure the tickets had sold out months before).
8/20/16: I bought TABINOF. When I read it, I didn't get all the jokes, because I had not yet watched all the PINOFs a dozen times each.
9/19/16: I very excitedly pre-ordered DAPGO on Amazon. It was my first real act in the fandom that was happening in real time instead of me just catching up with old stuff.
10/8/16 or so: I began voraciously reading phanfic on AO3. My first real favorite was Our Threadbare Lies by @ramonaspeaks. I was intrigued by this fresh and unfamiliar kind of plot about the two characters in a fake/pretend relationship. :)
10/11/16: Searching for people with whom I could share my new obsession, I discovered Tumblr and created an account, with my first post being me writing, "Sometimes I’m just happy that someone like Phil exists in the world, so kind and brave and filled with child-like wonder. It would be a better world if more people looked at things with Phil eyes.” Of course, no one acknowledged my post in any way. I felt completely puzzled about how to make friends and become part of the community of the phandom. The first person to follow my blog was the amazing @fringegaps, though I have no idea what she saw in me at the time, since mostly all I did then was reblog tons of gifs.
10/18/16: I completed and uploaded my first phanfic, “Like A Shibe (on Tumblr and AO3). I have since written and uploaded a whopping 33 additional phanfics, though some of them are quite short. I did not ship Dan and Phil in real life, just enjoyed reading and writing fanfiction as I had with fictional characters in my previous fandoms.
2/27/17: Over months of getting sucked in by all y'all’s posts (yes, I blame you), I had become obsessed enough that I started creating my phan timeline. While researching the history of DnP’s relationship, I began my progression toward rl shipping and demon phannieness. And, tbh, there’s been no hope for me ever since.

Fine Bros. Entertainment is building its YouTube empire, one 'react' video at a time

BURBANK, California How do you react to poor fan reaction?
That was the question that Benny and Rafi Fine, the brothers known for their popular YouTube channels, had to ask themselves in January after many of their viewers became angered over their (now defunct) initiative.
The duo’s goal was to give creators worldwide access to 11 of their company’s various shows and trademarks, including their franchise of “react” videos (in which groups of people, including kids, teens and adults, react to various topics). But many argued the “React” brand is not the Fine Brothers’ to license and viewed it as an attempt to claim profits over every “reaction” video out there. It only took five days before the pair apologized and discontinued the program.
Now it’s been eight months since the drama and Benny and Rafi have moved on, with hopes that their fans have too. The new challenge they face is getting their audience to trust and care about them again.
For the Fines, that means refocusing on doing what they do best: Making and distributing content.
“Our intentions were not what people thought they were. It was a very simple plan from our regard: A cool new initiative that wasn’t going to do anything bad to anyone,” Rafi said in a recent interview with Mashable at the Fine Brothers Entertainment office in Burbank. “People still think we’re trying to do something bad.”
“It was what it was,” Benny added. “There’s not much you can do about the reality when those things happen, beyond trying to look through clouds of it, find out what’s the essence of this, realize, learn from it. We learned this is not something we should be doing let’s just move on from on it and go back to what we had been doing. We’re fully and totally refocusing.”
Making moves
Benny and Rafi, who grew up in Brooklyn, have a typical brotherly rapport.
At 33, Rafi, the youngest, is slightly more hipster and mellow. He is often seen sporting a beanie. Meanwhile, Benny, 35, speed talks his way through conversations, with Rafi either interrupting or finishing his sentences.
The duo has been making online content since 2004, before YouTube even launched. They were instrumental in the success of Maker Studios, now owned by Disney.
Now, Fine Brothers Entertainmentn functions as a full-fledged media company, studio and network.
The company produces 10 serialized shows every week for over 20 million YouTube subscribers, as well as other digital platforms and linear television.
That includes scripted, non-scripted, animated, sketch, interactive, and, of course, the react videos.
The company’s videos getnearly 150 million views each month, and their channels overall have more than 5 billion lifetime video views. There are now about 55 people working at FBE full-time, who produce an average 12 videos per week.
Over the last year, the Fines have made a handful of big hires, including Brandie Tucker, who produced Big Brother and Hell’s Kitchen, and Andrea Kinloch, who previously worked for AOL Original Video and Warner Bros.
“It’s definitely been a year of building out a team we can grow on top of and scale in a much easier and faster way,” Rafi said. “With so many new platforms, we have to innovate how to make content on such a mass scale. On top of it, we’re also making TV shows and features and everything.”
Now, they are in the process of expanding their offices, by adding another floor with tons more studio space.
The Burbank office space (of which they inhabit three floors of) is not the average studio set-up.
For starters, the office is sort semi-hidden: there’s no sign outside the building indicating that it’s FBE’s headquarters (so fans don’t crowd outside, FBE execs said).
The first thing guests are greeted with at the reception area is a table filled with books written by YouTubers and snacks. Lots of snacks.
The bright blue walls are decked out with Fine Bros Entertainment memorabilia, including a few boards which people who have participated in “React” videos sign. They also proudly display some of their many awards, including a Webby, a Streamy Award and a Daytime Emmy.
Before expansion, there were just two sets utilized by all staffers, with a white board outlining the daily filming schedule for each space. With the added floorspace, employees will be adding areas for filming.
Much of the third floor will remain dedicated to the post-production team, which holes up in areas. (One of the editing suites is appropriately nicknamed “the lair.”)

Upping the slate
To the average Hollywood honcho, it’s hard to explain what exactly FBE is. That’s where Kinloch, Tucker and Matt Labate VP of Channels, Strategy and Audience, come in.
Tucker comes from the TV development world, where she produced TV series such as Big Brother, Hells Kitchen, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and the upcoming show on MTV Epic Win!.
Her goal is to build a bridge with traditional Hollywood outlets.
Luckily, FBE has already built itself in Hollywood enough to have brand recognition. The company has been behind TruTV show Six Degrees of Everything, Nickelodeon’s ReactToThat (made in partnership with Nick Canon) and ABC Family’s Superfan Suite for its hit show Pretty Little Liars.
“Fine Bros Entertainment knows fandom better than anyone,” Tucker told Mashable. “We know how to tap into what people obsess over. And that’s valuable.”
Kinloch, meanwhile, is responsible for making deals with brands and licensing content (including to international TV networks and education partners).
The hope is that people see FBE for what it is: A nontraditional entertainment company capable of doing traditional material while still tapping in to digital audiences.
“We’re not necessarily the influencer but we’re not traditional media,” Rafi said. “We’re very much a hybrid. We find ourselves in that middle ground.”
Another company that has mastered this hybrid is Rooster Teeth.
The Austin-based production company, behind hits such asRed vs. Blue, was founded in 2003 by YouTubers Matt Hullum and Burnie Burns and then acquired by digital entertainment company Fullscreen in 2014.
Since then, the company has amassed more than 20 million subscribers to its YouTube Network, as well as 3 million unique monthly visitors to its RoosterTeeth.com hub and 1.8 million registered community members.
FBE has always been working on expanding its slate, but ove the last year the focus was to delve into more long-form projects.
So in January, it came as no surprise when one of FBE’s projects was announced as part of YouTube Red’s first line-up of originals
SING IT!, a half-hour sitcom that provides a satirical take on singing competition shows, was made in partnership with traditional studio Mandeville Films.
The 10-episode show is a workplace comedy about a singing competition show (a la American Idol or The Voice).
It features a mix of traditional and digital stars including Mircea Monroe (Hart of Dixie) Missi Pyle (Gone Girl), Debby Ryan (Disney Channels Jessie) and Mark Sullivan (Guest of a Nation). It also includes actual singing competition alumni, including Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo (the married couple that competed onAmerican Idol) andLeah Lewis (The Voice Season Four). Guest stars include Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars), YouTube stars Sam Tsui, Todrick Hall and Tim DeLaGhetto.
WithSing It!, YouTube Red viewers could actually vote for which fictional contestant they want to win ahead of the final episode. Contestants were then eliminated based on who viewers pick, giving an immersive element to the digital show.
FBE also just relaunched the animated series Emo Dad. The entire season is on Fullscreen’s SVOD service already but episodes also become available weekly on YouTube.
“There’s kind of a trifecta of things always going on at our company,” Benny said. “There’s the digital side of things, which is just as big as it’s ever been and growing on month-to-month basis. At the same time, opportunities with shows like Sing It! are leading to other things and now we are starting to move toward more long-form scripted [content]. The brand integration side is the third wing.”
Up next? “Soo many things,” Benny said.
Among the new projects: The company’s first feature film, titled F*&% the Prom.

Plus, Fine Brothers Entertainment will have a new addition to its growing react franchise called “CELEBS React,” which will launch later this year.
FBE partnered with Fullscreen for the show, which will live on the Fullscreen’s SVOD platform and the FBE channel.
The overall goal is to “extend olive branches” to as many distribution outlets and create quality content, the Fine brothers said.
But even as FBE continues to grow both in terms of content and company size Benny and Rafi emphasize they want to remain connected with their fans and the digital world.
They end every Wednesday all-hands meeting with two traditions.
The first, reading a round-up of notes from the office’s “good shit” box, where employees can submit compliments about each other. For example, one employee wrote a note praising another for “slaying” in a recent video shoot.
Then, the Fine brothers read a fan letter. On this particular day, Benny chose one that was written out on a typewriter.
Benny read an excerpt aloud:
“I’ve been struggling with depression, but your shows mean so much to me. They introduced me to a whole world of pop culture.”
The entire room applauded.

Now, because the coaches make as much because the players, there isn't any more of that. Do you hurl back insults at your trash-talking rival, or keep issues classy? Within the fourth spherical, you must nonetheless be capable of snag an elite working back. If they have been to take their time and wait till after the two minute warning to pick up the tempo, then they probably aren’t going to have the opportunity to get the ball again. All the characters are believable and act precisely as you'll expect real individuals to act, and all of them have comprehensible motives.
