(gets into a hobby that's very complicated and has limited documented instruction for everything i want to learn the farther and more niche i get into it just bc of the nature of a lot of the more complicated things i find are uploaded by one person who didn't make a tutorial) what the fuck. why is this hard
#things dont click in my brain i think lol#like i know how to do chainmail and i can do some pretty tricky weaves and occasionally extrapolate how to do something from a picture if#it's very simple and easy to understand bc it's comparable to something else i've done#but im not making my own patterns or experimenting w my own stuff like so many ppl i see online#and like w glassblowing i can follow the steps kind of but my mind blanks and i can't like. work with limitations or experiment or try new#techniques like every other person i know who is into glassblowing can. and it's like whatever but im so sick of plateauing and wish i could#just understand how something works and its properties so i can then work within those properties like feel like im getting out of a#tutorial stage where i can move on my own and feel like im actually really good at something when i've had years of experience with it#alex talks

modern!atwow x musician!reader
modern avatar mlist!
desc. headcanons for modern avatar: the way of water teens with a musician significant other whoâs in a band. reader plays a different instrument for each character.
a/n. if this flops iâm retiring. real shit.
â neteyam. ( guitarist s/o âŞ! )
he sleeps with a t-shirt of your band every. goddamn. night.
gives it back to you once a week so you can spray your perfume on it. you ended up bringing him a bottle of ur fave brand and he sprays the cologne on it every time he washes it (aka ever fucking week)
mans hooked. to both you and your music
listens to your bandâs songs at least once a day. either w/ headphones or on full blast it doesnât matter
his whole family knows all the lyrics
sometimes tuk comes to his room and jumps on his bed while playing air guitar and he absolutely joins
other times tho he closes his eyes to focus and pays special attention to the guitar while having your smile in mind
he once spent like 2 weeks watching youtube tutorials to (kinda) learn one song so he could play for you
was it good? no it was fucking hideous. was it the sweetest fucking thing ever tho? absolutely it was
always tries to pick you up after band practice
my boy would rather miss his basketball competitions than miss one of your concerts
this one time he actually tried to skip a match bc your performance was at the same time and the mf showed up backstage like âhEyđâ
you had to call his mom for him to leave (u snitch that was kinda foul)
definitely knows abt âthe rockstarâs girlfriendâ aesthetic and makes it his personality. like heâs so into it
you got him a t-shirt that said âim with the bandâ as a joke but he actually wears it and its hilarious
â kiri. ( keyboard s/o âŞ! )
comes to your house just to hear you play
she brings a book and lays down on your bed while you make new music
ADORES watching you come up with new tunes!!!!!!
you always have that focused look on your face as you move your fingers over the keys at makes her want to take a picture (she actually has a few ngl)
always goes back home humming your new melody
you record covers of her favorite songs on your keyboard and give her a cd that she listens to on her discman (she defo owns old gadgets like that)
sometimes puts her phone down on her window stool, where she has her favorite plants, and leaves it there with your music playing. she likes to think it help her plants grow
lowkey gatekeeps your songs
there was this one time you couldnât sleep bc she kept appearing on your mind, so you connected your headphones and made your âode to kiriâ
it was 2am when you vĂdeocalled her to play for her what you just wrote
and kiri being the sensitive person she is, swore she could feel your affection through the music, little tears threatening to fall from her pretty eyes
it was truly a treasured memory in your relationship
until a loud ass knock on your door and an equally loud âFFS ITS 2AM!!!!!â almost made you drop dead
she absolutely laughed at you btw
â loâak. ( bassist s/o âŞ! )
brings you stickers so you can decorate your bass w/ them
âaye babe i got a new sticker for your guitarâ âfor the hundredth time loâak, its a BASS!!!â
yeah he knows it annoys you and no heâs not gonna stop
his lockscreen is a picture of you on stage with a bunch of lil hearts he drew around you
when he goes to your concerts he tells everyone you two are dating
âyou see that one over there bro? pfft yeah, weâre togetherâ âdo i know you man????â đ
when you told him your band didnt have a logo yet he showed up at your door 3 days after, super excited and with a bunch of sketches to show you
i also think loâak would be really into graffiti art
so he goes around the neighborhood spray painting your bandâs logo on the streets walls
âloâak youâre gonna get us in troubleâ âoh cmon, its good promo!!â
he messes up with your amplifier when you practice, turning up and down the volume, the treble, etc. until you throw your pick right into his fucking forehead and heâs like:
âma fault đ¨â
the moment he (finally) sits still he actually pays really close attention to how your hands move
âdamn, you make it look so easyâ âim just good with my fingers igâ
cue the dumbest smirk youâve ever seen
â aoânung. ( drummer s/o âŞ! )
imma just say it; he is popular. by that i mean ma boy has hella contacts
AND by that i mean he makes sure your band always has a venue to perform at. always first on every list fr
âaoâ stay the fuck away from my drumsâ
actually a fucking menace. tries to impress you by smashing the drumsticks everywhere.
ânah babe check me out i got it this time srslyâ
rhythm left the room the moment he sat down
he even attempts some tricks he seen you pull off during your concerts, like throwing the sticks up or rolling them between his fingers.
they always end up either on the floor or hitting his dumbass head. itâs cool tho, u kiss it better (after a well deserved smack bc what did i tell u)
heâd still insist on learning so you two end up having a chick flick moment where you guide him by putting your hands on his
boy actually blushes. just a smidge
âyour ears are redâ âstfu no theyâre notâ
might not know shit abt making music but seeing the look on your face when you play is enough to make him see how passionate you are
loves being alone with you in your bandâs backstage lounge
heâs so fucking extra he got his friend outside the door like some whack ass bodyguards. theyâre so into it too bro
âaye keep walking manđ´ď¸â âmove along bitch aint nothing to see heređ´ď¸â
whenever youâre about to go on stage he stays with you in your bandâs room and massages your hands
makes sure you always put some baby powder on your palms before you perform in case you start sweating so you dont drop your drumsticks
â tsireya. ( vocalist s/o âŞ! )
she sings along to your songs whenever they play
aoânung is sick and tired of listening to her and uses ear plugs all the time bc he once told her to stfu and got smacked
you two even make your own carpool karaoke and scream the lyrics together on the parking lot
and she NAILS IT!!!!!
like my girl can sing fr
in fact youâve asked her to help in a few songs for harmonies and second voices
she helps you out a lot with your vocal practice and your breathing exercises
she sits down with you and counts each second with her fingers when hold your breath and when you try your best to hold a specific note
letâs be honest here. A LOT of your songs are abt her
you really donât have to tell her, she knows they are. bc when youâre up on stage singing abt the perfect girl, you look right at her. and her heart beats faster every time
sometimes you send her your lyrics like âwhat do u think of this??â and itâd be a full on poem abt her that makes her smile so goofy. kicking feet and everything
every time you get in the shower and start humming/singing her phone is ready
actually has a video of you freaking tf out bc you had an idea for a new song while showering and you stormed your way out the bathroom, wet and hair full off shampoo
âREYA PASS ME A PEN QUICKâ âNAH WHY ARE YOU BOOTY NAKED PLEASEHAhHâ
you had to mop the floor after that
â rotxo. ( acoustic guitarist s/o âŞ! )
makes sure you are never out of strings to change
but since the strings are heavier from an electric guitar, he knows you sometimes hurt your fingers playing
so he bought you a bunch of finger protectors.
heâs a sweetheart, but those whack ass things he got you looked like this
yeaaah. no. đ
actually offensive heâd think you need that shit but you let it go bc he really just wanna be there for you
the actual definition of #1 fan
heâs on every concert
and i mean EVERY. CONCERT. front row, backstage, glowing sticks on one hand, phone on the other and zooming on you and only you
he goes to your house more than you go to his, just bc he always wants you to play smthn. and this way you dont gotta bring your guitar back and forth
when youâre together in your room, you get your guitar and he asks you to play some lofi style tunes
especially loves it when itâs summer and the both of you just lay down with the windows wide open and the breeze goes in and out. has a cool glass of your fave drink with a straw and he holds it up to you while you play
one thing ik for sure is rotxo is lowkey good at making beats/bases
the two of you have definitely made a few tracks purely for your enjoyment (like this)
many many many beach dates where you bring your guitar and he lays his head on your lap while the sun sets

wanted to ask, could we get a look in to how you put together your animatics?? I've been toying with the idea of trying to make one of my own, but I've got no idea where to start
oh yeah totally
though to be fair, a HUGE chunk of my time is spent listening to about 20 seconds of a song and imagining how the images move around like a little movie, and I refine a ton of stuff in my head before starting to actually put scenes down on paper. This happens with non-music boarding too, imagining different versions of how the scenes line up with dialogue/music. So step one: put a song on repeat and daydream for at least two hours. But, if you arenât sure how to do this, Iâd suggest looking at animatics, MAP projects, AMVs, animated musicals, fight scenes, etc. what do they do thatâs cool? Imitate them.
after that, I have most of the main images with some blank spots im not sure how to fill until I put them down. I make something like this and get the compositions of each main image looking more or less okay in this form. This is also the stage I figure out the in between blank spots. I try not to have weird camera moves or other storyboarding donâts, but some storyboarding donts are completely valid to break if you know what you want aesthetically. As usual. This one was actually pretty clean, but check out all the framing edits. i always have to make the frame bigger
If you really donât know what goes in between things, donât be afraid to focus on some little details of the scene, pull out and show us the setting, put some flowery symbolism on screen, give us some fun little comedic anime inserts, or do what cowboy standoffs do and build tension. What we used to do was draw paws stepping across the screen or eyes blinking, lol
next comes audio sync! I like to get the timing extant on copies of these rough thumbnails before moving on. It helps my brain work through smaller more animated movements + testing if the things I came up with for the blank spots work. and also just makes it happy. And also, most importantly, it tests if the compositions work. If you can see it, the whole sequence with mom was a blank spot until I sketched it. I usually do this step in roughanimator even if i donât finish it in roughanimator. Keeps it very rough.
after this is just a lot of polishing and layers! For lots of small animatics, I just use roughanimator and leave it like that. Itâs surprisingly good for a very basic program. But, for things that need tweens or lots of camera movement, I use toon boom harmony. Itâs more powerful and is actually supposed to be used for animation, which. Yknow. I do. I tried storyboard pro, it wasnât my favorite.
Here are some, I guess, miscellaneous more technical tips for making your animatics feel nice!
If youâre going for lots of movement, try out timing it so big movements or scene transitions line up with the spikes in the audio WAV. If it doesnât feel right, move it a few frames BEFORE the spike/audio beat. Your brain usually wants to see something move barely before it hears it - this works for dialogue especially. BUT! Donât feel like you have to do this for every beat. unless you want to feel like Wes Anderson, which you can do and I will not stop you.
If youâre going for something slower with not that much movement, try motion tweening! or adjusting something very slowly so we donât linger on one still image for forever.
you donât need crazy camera angles for everything, but put a few in there for spice. This all depends on your mood you want to cultivate. Slow = flatter, spacious, details; fast = lots of moves, weird angles, perspective; disorienting = slow/jerky weird angles etc etc. the camera has emotions built into it. Because the camera is you! surprise!
watch storyboarding tutorials. lots of people zoom in too much when they draw and I am not excluded. Also, keep in mind the eyesight rule. Itâs hard for me to explain concisely but⌠you as the artist are always leading the viewers eye somewhere, with every shot you make. Donât make them dizzy by having the center of attention jump around to six different spots for six shots straight - if you find yourself unhappy with a sequence, especially a fast one, see if your line of sight is going all over the place and try moving the subject of a shot or two somewhere else or having them move/gesture towards the new shotâs focal point so the viewers eye moves there naturally. Iâm actually not great at doing this when words/lyrics are involved, pmv makers have my respect.
contrast is your friend. If you want to emphasize a big fast move or big bright image, put little slow moves or simple images right before/after it. and vice versa! this counts for camera too!
easy camera shakes are just 3-4 frames of cam down/up/down less/up less, a blank tween or two (easing back into normal), and then a key for your desired normal camera location. Or left/right, whichever.
your brain needs about six frames to fully register an object as being an object. If you want someone to see and really See it, rather than just get a glimpse of it and go "What was that!" It needs more than six frames.
donât be afraid to experiment!!!!!! And donât get overwhelmed! Everything I just described I MOSTLY do off instinct, which youâll get a sense for after you make one. Or likeâŚ. Ten. Does it feel good in your heart? Then thatâs whatâs important. Find an idea you want to make move, figure out your limits (programs, attention span, drawing capability, make sure not to commit to a minute long amv if you dont KNOW you wanna do a minute long amv), and plan around that. When I was A Child, people on youtube were just making like three amvs per second and cringe hadnât been invented yet so they were all mostly untrained unpolished and so so important and based to me. Stop thinking so hard about it. You gotta get that animatic out there into the world or itâll start fermenting in your brain and make you sick. So what if it doesnât turn out exactly the way you imagined it? Youâll have another idea tomorrow. And if it matters that much, you can always do it again. Go make! Good luck!
#long post#haha sorry! That turned into more of a tutorial which I hope is what you wanted#i dont know how to do edits; honestly; but thats not what you asked. a very cool form of video making! no clue how to do it well#ask#anon#hmm for the eyesight rule#dont misunderstand -- dialogue over the shoulder shot a/ shot b style are not 'jumping around'#i mean like something moves on the LEFT and then the next shot has something spinning down from the TOP to the BOTTOM and then the next#you have something on the LEFT again moving UP#yknow?#idk if hearing gifs counts as synesthesia but silent moving things make noise in my head#so it kinda works vice versa. sometimes noise can make moves

More Hyrule Warriors thoughts because Iâm still in the hole
Iâm now at the point in the first two adventure maps where the only things left to do are insane boss rushes and Iâve realized now that I only beat the legend mode end bosses out of luck. I have no idea how either Ganon fight actually works. Iâll look up a tutorial sometime but not right now.
In the meantime I started the first normal rank map. Itâs annoying. Fuck off with your âno healâ challenges I SPENT SO MUCH TIME GETTING ALL THOSE ILLUSTRATIONS TO GET BETTER POTIONS AND YOU TAKE THEM AWAY??? Iâm gonna eat you.
Also in those maps LEVELING IP FIESNT EVEN HEAL YOU Iâm going to make someone TASTE THEIR OWN LUNGS
I have like 5 fairies but I only use the first one I got cause she has an ability that instantly revives you if you die and none of the others have anything even close to that good so far. Plus sheâs the one wearing the Ghirahim cosplay.
I havenât changed any of the default names of the fairies cause it feels Weird. Like âhi I just saved your life now serve me eternally also your name is now Lorraineâ
One of my fairies is named Chomp :) I love her. Shes useless, but I love her
I havenât gotten many hats. It bugs me cause none look good with the Ghirahim cosplay. Why canât I just get like, a red headband or something???? Why did I have to get a random skull???
Iâve finally gotten a huge string of weapon upgrades so a lot of characters are useful for the first time in the entire game and Iâm having SO MUCH FUN WITH IT
Specifically Iâm really liking Twili Midna! I didnât get her moves at first but Iâve started to really vibe with it now that she has some decent damage output (also that X special is OBSCENE just annihilate an entire room no biggie)
I have Toon Link in his blue lobster shirt, all is right with the world :)
I found out you can go over level 100. I thought I was doing okay with keeping the gang leveled up (I go in 5 level jumps where Iâll sell a shit ton of weapons to get rich then level the entire roster up at once) having everyone at a minimum of 40, but it turns out I was wrong and now Link is level 102 and I donât know how to plan for this future the disparity is so much larger than I anticipated (I stopped playing as him much but I keep finding maps that require him)
So right now Iâm maining Sheik at like 65 or something, then once they hit like 90 Iâll probably go to Ganondorf or Impa (I finally figured out how to play her giant blade god bless)
Primarily right now Iâm jumping between going back to maps I didnât get a-rank on and replaying them and going through free mode getting every stage done on hard + getting skulltulas I abandoned during legend mode, it has actually gotten me pretty good levels
I cannot however finish the level to upgrade Volgaâs weapon, I need to A-rank a goddamn full level with a close-quarters imprisoned fight at the end like BLOCKING DIESNT DO SHIT WHEN ITS ACTUALLY EATING ME! IM IN ITS MOUTH THERES NOWHERE TO RUN IM IN A CAVE
#hyrule warriors#Mr toes is causing pain and anguish#he is not enriched in his enclosure and it making it Volgaâs problem specifically

Wait cql lawyer/law school AU
i got you my pal dont worry!!
law school, im gonna be honest and say i know like nothing about law or law school so pls ignore any inconsistencies or inaccuracies
lwj goes to law school and he is definitely the top student in his class. theyâve been there for like a month and everyone already knows heâs gonna be the best
his one and only competition is this dude called wei wuxian but lwj isnât particularly worried about him
so far theyâre still in the stage of the course where they do the fun things to sucker people into doing the class for the semester so thereâs been some practise debates and arguments and stuff in their tutorial classes
wei wuxian has that Charisma and like yeah all of his arguments are perfect but also he has an amazing smile and people are like yes i can trust himÂ
(heâs definitely the sort to be like hm, the easy way to argue this case would be to quote some laws and use precedence to justify this but thatâs boring)
lwj is also good at that sort of stuff because his arguments are perfect and everything is so perfectly researched that there should be no ground at all for someone to lodge a counterargument
(wei wuxian manages somehow and it makes lwj so mad)
but thatâs whatever lwj thinks,, a lot of people join law thinking itâs gonna be like the tv shows and books and then get completely blindsided when it comes to the rote learning part or like the actual lawsÂ
and for all of wwxâs confidence, lwj hasnât actually seen wwx so much as touch the textbook/s and he always studies in the law library so he knows that wwx has probably never even been there bc he hasnât seen him even once (whyâs he looking? bc he needs to see which books wwx uses to study,, bc there has to be something going on there,, obviously)
then they do their first like proper written assignment and lwj and wwx tie for the highest scores and now lwj has a Rival and he refuses to lose to someone who thinks that putting a â-usâ sound at the end of a word makes it latin (did wwx say habeas corpus and then point at a soft drink and go sprite-us can-us,,, maybe,,,,)
anyway! lwj and wwx are kinda rivals for the top spot and itâs one of those situations where one test lwj wins by a point but then the next test wwx gets full marks and they just keep exchanging the top spot in class
and this whole time wwx is like The Worst to have in class. heâs always interrupting to ask questions or just straight up not listening and spends the class doodling pictures of rabbits (theyâre cute but wwx is terrible and heâs not allowed to make cute drawings)
so after a few months the most horrible thing happens.... they get put together in a project and lwj is like ugh. internally of course but his face is also saying ugh
the first time wwx and lwj get together to work on the project, lwj is prepared with a proper list of tasks to do all nicely split up between the two of them and a schedule for when they should get certain parts done by.Â
needless to say, lwj does not expect wwx to be ready, but wwx is definitely on top of things
he rocks up and is like yeah letâs do this, this and this and have them done by this time - basically proposing to do everything that lwj has already written down
and lwj is pleasantly surprised and is like hm maybe i misjudged wwx and decides to like re-evaluate his opinion on him
in doing so he realises that when heâd never seen wwx studying, it wasnât an exaggeration at all. heâs never seen wwx so much as touch a textbook or spend more than a minute on a laptop doing something that wasnât minesweeper or solitaire
but wwx is also making all of their deadlines and even adds extra information and resources to their document that could be useful elsewhere and sometimes he shows up to their study sessions and he looks absolutely exhausted
eventually lwj manages to get the truth out and wwx is just like yeah itâs easier to get worse grades than a genius but if you both study and you still get lower grades, itâs not easy,, for jc or for me
so wwx usually studies at night when his brother is asleep and lwj is like thatâs bad, you canât keep that up and just when wwx is about to go off at him lwj is like you can come study at my place
and thus begins the wonderful time where everything is alright and lwj falls in love with wwx
they work really well together and wwx is strangely considerate and nice? when he finds out lwj likes rabbits, he goes out and buys bunny post-it notes for lwj and starts to always bring him a doodle of bunnies every time he comes over. he always gets his work done on time, early even, and his work is always so brilliant and every time wwx smiles at him, lwj feels warm inside etc etc
for a long while lwj is like yes (: this is friendship (: bc heâs never had a crush before but then on the day they submit their project wwx is like hey,, the two of us make a great team,, we should always work together,, now and next year and even when we graduate,, i want to help the innocent people who need our help and i think iâd like it a lot if you joined me and lwj has his oh moment
they get a perfect score on the project of course and even after it finishes, wwx keeps coming over to lwjâs place to study or just hang out and lwj is just falling more and more for wwx each day
theyâre best friends now and everyone gets used to seeing them work together on projects and then turn around to try and decimate each other when theyâre working one on one and lwj thinks that he might just be the happiest heâs ever been
but then one day wwx doesnât show up to class. it shouldnât be strange but wwx has never missed class even once and he ends up hearing from lxc who heard from jgy that wwx was caught sabotaging some other studentâs work (the other student was jzxun, who had a fondness for playing devilâs advocate and other than wwx once telling him that his argument was shit, wwx never spoke to him or seemed to know who he was but lwj is a bit too angry to remember that)
he manages to find wwx outside of his dorms as heâs moving out and heâs just like why did you do that? and wwx is like oh yâknow,, bc heâs not really sure whatâs happening himself,, one second he was at the top of his class and the next he was being brought before a board and being told that he was being expelled but heâs not going to tell lwj that bc lwj would definitely try and stand up for him and then theyâd both get expelled
but lwj is furious and just spits out well if our dreams meant so little to you then maybe itâs a good thing you failed now,, bc his mother was a lawyer who took all these little jobs that helped people who actually needed the help and lwj was looking forward to doing that with wwx and he doesnât even seem to care that now they canât do thatÂ
wwx flinches and then smiles at him and just cheerily says, thatâs me and leaves. he doesnât look back and lwj doesnât chase after him.
lwj doesnât see him again for years (you can do 13 or 5 or however long you feel like)
lwj is a fully licensed lawyer and heâs working for the family company and he spends half of his time working on cases and uses the rest of his time to do like outreach programs where he goes and visits schools and runs sessions on what itâs like to be a lawyer, how to apply, and to provide assistance to any students who decide to study law at uni
and then at one of these programs he meets this kid, wen yuan, who is ridiculously bright and enthusiastic and has a smile that seems oddly familiar
at the end of the second session he comes up to lwj and is like mr. lan, is your name lan wangji? and lwj just says yes, expecting the kid to be a fan of one of his cases or something but then wen yuan is like oh wow! i thought i recognised you from my dadâs photo!
and lwj isnât expecting much but he asks what the photo looks like and wen yuan pulls out this photo from his pocket and lwj immediately recognises it,, itâs the only photo he has of him and wwx
your father is wei ying? lwj asks him and wen yuan is like yes, hesitates, and then asks, would you like to see him?
and thatâs how lwj finds himself following wen yuan to some dinky little office that has a plaque outside that reads wen and wei
(wen ning is the nicest and sweetest person ever and lots of people underestimate him but then heâs an absolute monster on court. he gets up and completely decimates the opponent and then at the end is like (: it was so nice to meet you!! i am baby!! and all that,, you know our boy)
anyway they walk in and wwx turns to greet wen yuan but then he sees lwj and is like woah! you! and heâs not sure whether to hide or go and hug lwj so he just gives him a fist bump,, like a bro,, and immediately wants to shrivel up and die
anyway they get the reunion stuff out of the way, swelling music, tender wrist holding, lots of staring, lwj silently declaring his wholehearted love for wwx and refusing to believe rumours about him again even though he doesnât actually know what happened, you know how it goes
from wwxâs side of things,, after he got kicked out he went to some small uni. good in its own right but not known for their law program and ended up specialising in family law
the first case he ever won was for the wens to have the right to keep custody of a-yuan and the first case wen ning ever won was to let wwx adopt a-yuan bc iâm soft like that
so wwx has just been kinda vibing,, being a single dad, living with the wens and helping to make that difference he always promised he would
now this isnât gonna be some au where lwj goes oh my! i must give up my high salary job and work with wwx! bc lwj has been doing good stuff at his current job and for all of his familyâs stuffiness, they run a fair and just companyÂ
but! he does end up helping wwx when wwx gets a letter with a bunch of information about the jins and how theyâre actually super corrupt and evil (big surprise,,) and how wwx was maybe definitely framed bc he was doing some casual work on the side and stumbled across some bad shit on the jins back in uni
lwj ends up being the one to take the case officially but wwx is definitely the guy leading it and so lwj ends up spending most of his time at the wen-wei office
lwj definitely bonds with wen yuan, who also wants to go into law, and writes him recommendation letters and helps him edit his applications and stuff
(and one day wen yuan is like leaving you was the hardest thing dad ever did and i dont think you appreciated how much he cared about you. he really did think that he annoyed you âtil the end and lwj is like no! he didnât! and wen yuan is like yeah i know but you gotta tell him and lwj really does mean to but the time is never right or something like that but also wen yuan is all but calling lwj dad at this point)
anyway they end up going to court, side by side, working as a team just as they promised to do and just as they finish their final day on the case, ended with the jury ruling jgy guilty and wwxâs reputation all but saved, wwx turns around and flings himself at lwj
is he crying? is he laughing? a bit of both tbh but wwx ends up confessing right then and there, still on record and everything (is that how that works??? idk! letâs say it does)
and what can lwj do but make out with him?
did a news crew come in to film the results of this massive court case just to end up with five minutes of wangxian kissing?? maybe! but when it played on tv it meant wwx and lwj didnt have to actually tell anyone they got together
(and does lwj eventually pop the question using wwxâs bad latinification? yes and wwx is too busy laughing to accept at first but he does and they end up being the worst possible tutors for wen yuan as he goes through law school bc they keep being all gross and lovey-dovey and acting like law school is the most romantic place in the world)

Where did they find me? âŚat my house? Is that strange? I would pick my best friend probably, she loves Seventeen too. What IS THAT LAST QUESTION OH MY GODDDD âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ .    . . . bu-buT TT-TT vocal unit it is~

250 Headcanons (Part 4)
I bet you thought youâd seen the last of these. Â Headcanons #151-200. Â These cover from Annabethâs time in college, to her death, as well as a little extra. Â Youâll see what I mean if you make it to the end of this. Â
151. One of the general education requirements at the university in New Rome has to deal with an Ancient Roman history course, and how theyâve evolved over time, how things have changed and stayed the same, and how the past repeats itself, etc.  Being the good Greek demigod that she is, Annabeth spends most of the class creating edited versions of notes that contradict half of what the professorâs saying.  The myths that were so obviously stolen from the Greek tradition get the most heavy handed treatment, with Annabeth opting to continue telling it the way she knows.  After all, itâs based on her culture, so it has to be more accurate than whatever the Romans turned it into.  Since most of the tests in the class are short and long essay response questions, Annabeth ends up not doing too well in that course because of the fact she refuses to change her perspective on Rome and its history.  Her final paper in the class has about half a page about Roman history/mythology, comparing it to its Greek counterparts, before she spends the rest of it detailing where the narrative is completely wrong, citing sources like âmy mother, the goddess, Athena,â and âChiron, trainer of heroes,â and âformer Praetor Jason Grace, who met this guy and said he was a dick.â  The last one, she found, was really hard to cite in APA format.
152. Â Although Annabeth does have friends in New Rome (Reyna, Frank, Hazel, and the occasional appearance by Jason), she never feels quite right there. Â She knows that most of the others living there donât think twice about having her around, but thereâs still an underlying prejudice with many of the younger demigods still at Camp Jupiter. Â Itâs enough to make her want to move back to New York after one year. Â But, the credits at New Rome donât really transfer to any other university, and Annabeth canât stand the idea of feeling like she wasted her time there. Â So, she agrees to stick it out for the next three and reevaluate at the end of it where they want to live.
153.  She spends those next three years drawing up plans for New Athens in her spare time and working with Chiron via IM on how to make it a reality.  At first the centaur seemed hesitant, because camp was never intended to become a permanent home.  But, with demigods living longer and Camp Jupiter having such a well working structure, Chiron knows he really has no choice but to give in.  Through some âanonymous fundingâ provided by the Olympian gods, the camp is able to buy more land and expand its borders for the creation of a new town.  The Athena Parthenos is moved to where the gates of the new city will be, and Annabeth almost hates that sheâs not there to see its symbolic new placement.  Almost.
154.  At the college in New Rome, passwords have to be changed every 180 days.  Itâs a supid rule, and Annabeth has to get IT to reset her account for her once because she forgets and lets it expire.  But, each year, she sets up her passwords based around a âthemeâ in the hopes theyâll be easier to remember.  (Although so many people are amazed at the things Annabeth can remember, passwords just donât seem to be among them).  Her first year is pretty simple, just naming her friends and adding a number at the end of it.  The next few years have themes including favorite Disney characters, famous architects, and superheroes.
155. Â Annabeth has never liked the taste of coffee. Ways to keep her going after pulling all-nighters usually include a lot of exercise and Dr. Pepper. Â She also has very specific stages that she goes through whenever she hasnât slept that are, in order: drunk sounding Annabeth, giggly Annabeth, sarcastic/sassy Annabeth, flat out mean Annabeth, and finally dead girl walking Annabeth.
156. Â The first place she starts to design for New Athens is the home she wants to live in with Percy. Â Itâs completed in bits in pieces, because she keeps trying to hide it from him, which is definitely a task that is easier said than done. Â He keeps trying to sneak up behind her or steal her blueprints away, just to see what is taking her away from him that he knows isnât school work. Â Somehow though, she manages to keep it tucked safely away, in a tube with a pen mark down the side that she stashes with her old Olympus sketches.
157. Â She will drop anything and everything to have her head and/or neck rubbed.Â
158. Â Annabeth also is just a really good artist in general. Â Like, sheâs great at proportions and angles from her years of trying to train as an architect. Â But, it transfers over into other subject matter as well. Â Her notebooks are filled with doodles in the corners that look way more detailed than something absentmindedly drawn during lectures. Â
159. Â Since her mom is also the goddess of crafts, Annabeth tries to take up knitting over a winter break, watching Youtube tutorial videos to try and get good at it. Â Although she can make a pretty wicked scarf, her hats kind of look deformed. Â But, that doesnât stop her from making them for nearly everyone that she comes in contact with. Â Itâs therapeutic, to be able to work with her hands and continue to create things instead of feeling like sheâs only tearing them down. Â And making hats and scarves take so much less time than watching a building rise from the ground up. Â So it definitely provides the more immediate satisfaction while sheâs waiting for her more major projects to come to fruition.
160. Â Annabeth cannot cook to save her life. Â She made it a point to learn how to make cupcakes, but thatâs as far as her ability in the kitchen goes. Â Everything else ends up burnt or not completely done. Â Then, when Annabeth tries to cook it/bake it longer, then it just ends up burning.
161. Â Ham, pineapple and extra black olives is her pizza of choice. Â However, due to the fact she seems to be the only one on the side of pro-pineapple, and her boyfriendâs insistence that the pineapple taints the pizza entirely, she just settles for olives on her half of the pizza.Â
162. Â Literally always cold. Â It doesnât matter that they spend the majority of the year in California, Annabeth always has some sort of jacket or sweater on her. Â She walks around her apartment with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders and sleeps with her socks on because she swears that it keeps her warmer.
163. Â Annabeth is that person who always dresses up for class. Â Well, not necessarily dresses up, but is careful to make sure she looks professional at all times. Â Literally the second she gets home though, itâs goodbye pants and hello oversized sweatshirt. Â If there are going to be any plans to go out to eat dinner, or hang out in the city, those have to be made between classes or immediately after she walks through the door. Â Because the second she changes out of her clothes, thatâs it for the day.
164. Â The first year that Percy and Annabeth live together brings back a lot of the bickering from their younger days. Â And sometimes, that bickering can spiral out of control and have them in full on fights. Â The argument that crops up the most definitely has to do with household chores. Â Annabeth is used to having a certain level of cleanliness. Â It helps her to stay focused it thereâs not a huge mess everywhere. Â Percy, on the other hand, does not seem to be quite as phased by it. Â Fed up, she decides to try and institute a chore wheel, but it ends up causing more problems and neither of them pay much attention to it. Â But, they never think to take it down off its place on the fridge. Â So, it stays there pretty much the entire time they live in that apartment.
165. Â She owns three calendars. Â One is a little planner that she keeps in her backpack, one is hanging up on the wall by her desk, and one is huge and actually sits on her desk. Â Although the same information is written in pretty much all three, the constant reminders and hope of seeing it makes it more likely that Annabeth will complete a task thatâs set out for her. Â Everything is also color coded. Â School assignment due dates and tests are in red, family events are in blue, social events are in green, appointments are in purple, demigod related things are in orange, and anything else that might pop up is in pink.
166. Â Annabeth gets a job her second year of living in New Rome working at a cafe. Â She has to be up way too early for her liking, but she always has been an early riser so itâs not too hard to make the adjustment. Â Besides, it means that sheâs done with her shift by the time her classes start, giving her ample time in the evenings to work through her homework as well as her plans for New Athens. Â She walks around all day smelling like coffee though, and itâs enough to make her never want to get near the stuff when she finally quits a few months before graduation.
167. Â Growing up at camp, Annabethâs used to eating pretty healthy. Â However, that does not mean she canât inhale junk food like the next person. Â Her favorite non-healthy snack has to be chocolate covered peanuts (specifically, Goobers, but sheâs not super picky on that). Â On the flip side, she doesnât really like peanut M&Ms. Â Despite the fact that people have tried to convince her theyâre basically the same thing, sheâll have none of it. Â She claims that the candy coating gives the M&Ms a completely different flavor and basically refuses to eat them.
168. Â Thereâs only one movie that Annabeth has ever cried at: Dinseyâs Hercules. Â And, it didnât even start until she was in her teens. Â Even in college and beyond, she spends the entire film pointing out things that the movie got wrong. Â But, the last ten minutes of it has her tearing up every single time.
169. Â Annabeth is a Slytherin. Â She also thinks that the people who combine houses (Slytherclaws, Gryffinpuffs, etc.) are just lying to themselves to make them feel better.
170. Â Annabeth and Percy end up adopting two dogs from a nearby animal shelter. Â They definitely went with the intention of only getting one, because their apartment was still small, and they were super busy all the time. Â But, they couldnât decide between two and ultimately decided to just get both of them. Â Since there were two, each of them decided they got to rename one each. Â So Otis and Aramis Jackson were added to the clan.
171. Â Annabethâs eyesight starts to get really poor during her sophomore year of college. Â She dealt with it being slightly fuzzy, too stubborn to get her eyes checked out, for more than a year before finally giving in. Â While she thanks the gods that sheâs allowed to get contacts from the get go, her back up glasses have large, black frames and she feels sufficiently like a dork when she has to wear them.
172. Â Theyâre juniors in college the first time the question of marriage is seriously discussed. Â Itâs Christmas break, and they're spending a weekend at her dadâs before Percyâs family flies in to celebrate the holiday. Â Her stepmom meant it as a joke when she asked when they were getting married, and everyone--including Percy--looks stunned with Annabeth answers:Â âthe summer after we graduate, that Saturday in the weird week where July becomes August.â Â She says it without even looking up from the piece of chicken thatâs she cutting, and is genuinely confused at everyoneâs expression when she does look up.
173.  That same night, after everyone goes to bed, Percy asks her if she was being serious about what she said at dinner.  Annabeth responds in the affirmative, explaining how she felt like it went along with the whole idea that she wanted to be married young.  And, she wants to change her last name before she makes her mark in the mortal architectural world so that when she becomes a sort of âbrand,â sheâll be restricted from doing that.  Since everything in their life happens in the summer, it only made sense that theyâd get married then and she picked the weekend closest to the middle of their birthdays.  He acts all offended for about half a second, claiming that he canât believe she made all these plans without even asking her to marry him, but theyâre both a little too giddy at the prospect of actually getting married for them to believe itâs actually genuine.  Their laughter only grows when Annabeth gets down on one knee and asks him to marry her, slipping his college ring onto his ring finger to keep up the charade.
174. Â Technically, they get engaged twice. Â The first time, when Annabeth proposed with a college ring and itâs the time that she swears is the official start of their engagement. Â The second time takes another year to crop up, and theyâve already started planning their wedding when Percy slides the engagement ring onto her hand. Â Itâs the second time that he swears is the official start of the engagement.
175. Â In high school, the running gag was that if Percy didnât graduate, then he couldnât come to New Rome with her. Â Of course, it was a ridiculous thing to say, because they both knew that no matter what happened, she would not be leaving him behind. Â In college, the running gag becomes that if he doesnât graduate, then he wonât get to marry her. Â Of course, it proves to be just as ridiculous as their old gag, and not just because theyâve already put their deposit down on the venue.
176. Â She designed exactly four structures for New Athens before deciding it wasnât worth trying to do it all on her own. Â She would go insane. Â So, Annabeth handed over her designs and basic outline of the town to the Athena campers living at camp. Â Those campers team up with the Hephaestus cabin to work on the city, careful to make sure each of Annabethâs designs--including the house she made for herself and Percy--go into the final construction of the city. Â Itâs not ready to move into when they graduate college, but itâs closer than anything Annabeth could have achieved on her own.
177. Â When they graduate from college, itâs a huge ordeal. Â They have their friends from both camps come out, Percyâs family flies in, Annabethâs family (including Magnus and two of his friends) shows up, and most of them end up crashing in their tiny apartment. Â Itâs cramped, and you canât walk two steps without stepping on someone at night, but itâs great. Â They have a barbecue after the ceremony, and the entire day is spent laughing and reminiscing on the various instances that made everyone doubt either Percy or Annabeth would end up as college graduates. Â All through the day, Nico keeps shooting her strange glances, like he suspects something, but never voices a concern. Â The party lasts for an entire weekend, and when people finally start leaving, they all express excitement at reuniting again in New York in a few months for the wedding.
178. Â They decided to move back to New York after graduation. Â Although Annabeth liked being close to her family and the safety of New Rome, neither of them felt they were truly at home. Â So, two weeks after graduation, Percy and Annabeth pack as many of their belongings as they can into their car, and drop off the rest with Frederick, who promises to mail them soon. Â Itâs a long trip thatâs only supposed to take four days, but because theyâre who they are and constantly need breaks, monster attacks, and a weird case of car sickness from Annabeth, it ends up taking them almost twice that long. Â Percy ends up having to drive most of it because Annabeth is exhausted or has a headache for most of the trip, and spends as much of it as she can sleeping.
179. Â Since they donât have an apartment when they move back to the city, Percy and Annabeth move back into his old room at Sallyâs until they find one they like. Â Itâs still small and not in the best part of the city, but itâs theirs and her dad insists that he doesnât mind helping them out a little. Â At least, itâll do until Annabethâs job becomes more than just an internship and Percy finishes up with the final three courses that he has to take in order for his teaching license to be compatible with New Yorkâs teaching requirements.
180. Â Sheâs never been good at taking medication. Â It doesnât matter if thereâs people there to remind her to do it, or if she puts post it notes up everywhere to try and get herself to take it. Â Itâs just one of those things that slips her mind. Â It was the case when her stepmom put her on medication for her ADHD, and now, itâs the case with her birth control. Â And itâs hard for her pills to work if she never takes them. Â Which might be why she finds out sheâs pregnant a little over a month before her wedding day.
181.  She absolutely does not want to invite any part of their godly family, and insists that they wonât even show up if they are invited.  But, Piper convinces her that itâll be a slight if they donât get invited to it, so Annabeth eventually relents.  Her invitation to Hera though has to be mailed a week later by Percy when Annabeth insists that it got âlost.â  However, due to the fact that Hera is the goddess of marriage, he vetoes her in saying that itâs asking for trouble if they donât have her come.  Everyone is surprised when most of the gods RSVP with a yes.
182. Â I keep seeing people saying Percy and Annabethâll get married at Camp and Iâm like... no. Â Okay here we go. Â They get married at Montauk, and thereâs this place called like the Navy Beach House or something, and itâs super nice and expensive but Frederick insists on paying for it because he knows that this is what Annabeth wants. Â And he hasnât really felt like heâs been able to really give her anything she wants before, so this is something that he goes all out for. Â Also keep in mind, mortals canât enter camp, and there is no way that Percy and Annabeth would get married without Sally, Paul, and baby Blofis around. Â They want it to be a small thing, but of course, what Percy and Annabeth want and what usually happens end up being in complete contrast with each other. Â Itâs another huge party, with people from both camps coming in, basically all the gods showing up in human-esque form, the hunters of Artemis showing up (but they kind of have to, since Thaliaâs in the wedding), in addition to the mortal sides of both their families. Â The gods put up a protective border for the day, because that many demigods in one place would definitely draw monsters. Â And Aphrodite has been waiting for this day since Percy and Annabeth were eleven, so no one is messing it up unless they want to deal with her wrath. Â Itâs great, but thereâs so much preparation and planning and hugging relatives that it seems to go by in a blur. Â Annabeth is sufficiently disappointed when the only piece of wedding cake she gets is the piece that Percy smashed in her face.
183. Â She manages to keep the whole pregnancy thing a secret from everyone (except sheâs like 85% sure Sally knows somethingâs up, and Nico definitely knows. Â Turns out he can sense new life just like he can sense people dying and thatâs why he gave her the weird looks at the graduation). Â Itâs during the reception that she just writes âIâm pregnantâ on a napkin that she passes to Percy before walking off to go greet more guests. Â The look he gives her when she finally makes eye contact again is priceless.
184. Â She changes her last name to Jackson as soon as she can after they get back from the honeymoon. Â Piper gave her some grief about it, claiming that it was giving into the patriarchy or something, but Annabeth didnât care. Â She finally was officially a part of a family that was going to be permanent and that was going to be there for her, no matter what. Â Changing her last name to symbolize her belonging to that family was 100% her choice and something sheâd decided on doing not long after her and Percy started talking about getting married.
185. Â Annabeth wanted to get her masterâs directly out of college and was even accepted into a program. Â However, she decided to delay it due to the fact she was the idea of working, going to school, and taking care of a newborn seemed next to impossible. Â Annabeth knows sheâs incredible, but sheâs not that incredible. Â It actually gets pushed back a lot farther than she meant to, because all of their kids kind of end up being born back to back to back. Â Eventually, she is able to go back to school when the youngest starts kindergarten, and gets her masterâs degree, before going on to achieve her doctorate as well.
186.  They have three kids: two boys and a girl.  The first two were not planned.  The only reason they did decide to have a third was because of the whole ârule of three.â  Despite the fact that Annabeth proved it was a stupid law on her first quest, something about it still seemed safe.  So, they had one more.  It becomes a tradition for the next two kids that whenever Annabeth finds out sheâs pregnant, she just writes it on a napkin and slips it to Percy at the end of dinner, before taking one of the kids to another room in their apartment.
187. Â Itâs after their second kid is born that New Athens is completed and theyâre able to move back into the safety of camp borders, while still living as functioning adults. Â Itâs kind of a difficult commute for Annabeth for work, but she doesnât care. Â She likes living in a home she designed with her family. Â And knowing their safe is worth the trip she has to take every day to get to the firm she works at. Â When Annabeth got to take Percy around the house the first time after it was done, and explain the intricate details of it all and why she designed things certain ways, she was couldnât stop bouncing on her feet as she walked. Â They totally make out like teenagers in their newly finished kitchen before remembering that their kids are being watched by a few of Apolloâs kids in camp that probably should be relieved of their babysitting duties as soon as possible.
188. Â Their youngest gets Percyâs water powers and he canât properly control them until heâs about eight. Â However, that doesnât mean that his emotions donât set them off. Â Annabeth loses track of the number of times she gets doused in toilet water (to which Percy canât help but laugh every time) and his siblings find themselves getting water from the faucet shooting straight at their faces every time thereâs an argument.
189. Â There are family Halloween costumes pretty much every year until their oldest is ten. Â Some of Annabethâs favorites include the Incredibles, Batman, the Scooby Doo gang, and the Addams Family.
190. Â Due to the fact that both Percy and Annabeth are ADHD and dyslexic, all three of their kids have ADHD. Â Only their daughter is not diagnosed with dyslexia and there are definitely tears of joy when Annabeth first hears her daughter read through a sentence without stumbling any more than any other child learning to read.Â
191. Â When each Jackson kid is six, they receive a plastic sword to begin learning to sword fight. Â Granted, it probably seemed overkill, but all three of them definitely do still have a potent smell. Â So, itâs necessary for them to learn how to fight. Â After proving that they are capable of handling a blade and not hurting themselves (or pulling it on their siblings for the fun of it), they are given a real weapon, made especially for them by Tyson. Â
192.  Board games, card games, and puzzles arenât actually a thing that can go on in the Jackson household because everyone is so competitive about it.  Pieces go âmissingâ from puzzles because someone took it so they can put the last piece in.  Cards get traded below table tops to help someone win a hand.  Board games usually get tipped over âaccidentallyâ when someone gets up to go to the kitchen for something to drink. Â
193. Â Annabeth falls asleep more at the kitchen table than she does in her own bed. Â She gets wrapped up in some new project and insists on it being perfect. Â So, even though she swears sheâll only be up for fifteen more minutes, thereâs no telling what time Annabeth will actually pass out and Percy gave up trying to wake her up to come to bed about a year after they got married. Â It just seemed that when he would wake her up, sheâd murmur something about being awake enough to keep going and that she still definitely had five more minutes of work time left in her.
194. Â Sheâs totally that mom who frightens teachers and coaches a like about her kids. Â Like, when they make a mistake getting onto her kid for something that wasnât their fault, or they take them out of a play when theyâre clearly the best player on the team, Annabeth loses it. Â She ends up banned from her daughterâs volleyball games for a year.
195. Â When they take their kids to Disney for the first time, Annabeth is just as excited as any of the Jackson spawn. Â She spends the entire time describing the inspiration for the facades of the buildings, as well as how the forced perspective is working. Â She spends weeks planning their days down to the minute, factoring other potential plans for extra wait times, shorter wait times, etc. but ends up ditching all of it as soon as she rides Dumbo for the first time. Â No one really understands why, but that is her ride. Â They have to ride it first the two days they go to the Magic Kingdom during that trip.
196. Â Itâs not uncommon for either Percy or Annabeth to be asked to go out and escort a halfblood to camp. Â Typically, they go as a team on the weekend, after dropping their kids off with Sally and Paul or letting them stay in their cabins at camp. Â However, after getting a call from Chiron about a halfblood near by, Annabeth opted to take on the mission by herself. Â After all, sheâd be heading back close to campâs borders at the end of the day anyway. Â It only made sense to find the demigod and take them back with her. Â But it wasnât one demigod that she found. Â There were three. Â All kids under the age of twelve, and all looking absolutely terrified and banged up from a long journey. Â Thereâs a rushed warning about something following them, and Annabeth decides then and there that itâs probably better to take them back to camp now instead of convincing them to hang out at work with her for the rest of the day first. Â True to their word, thereâs a cyclops on the trail of the three half bloods, who is ruthless in its attempts to hunt them down. Â It destroys Annabethâs car, and theyâre but a few hundred feet from the protective borders of camp when she tells them to run and sheâll hold it off. Â And itâs almost poetic, in a way. Â When sheâs turned to call directions to them, the cyclops knocks her to the side with a blow she didnât see coming. Â It sends her knife flying out of her hands, but she knows that she has to stall it in order for the kids to get to safety. Â And they do. Â They make it. Â But Annabeth doesnât. Â Sheâs a month away from turning forty one when she dies.
197. Â Thereâs a weird murmuring when Annabeth goes into the Underworld, and a few of the guard spirits seem to click excitedly when she arrives. Â Despite her better judgement, she decides to go in front of the judges, to see if there is any sort of reward waiting for her on the other side. Â Maybe sheâll get Elysium, or maybe--if she pleads her case hard enough--sheâll be able to wait for a few dozen years before Percy shows up so they can make the decision together. Â After all, it was never a conversation that had popped up before. Â Whenever they got close to the topic, theyâd quickly find something else to talk about. Â It definitely took her by surprise when she made her way in and found that sheâd been granted not Elysium, but the Isles of the Blessed. Â Her third life had been completed. Â Itâs then that sheâs granted the memories of the first two lives as well before being ushered on. Â In each of them, there are two common elements. Â The first, thereâs always a demigod present. Â Somehow, the Greek gods continue to plague her life in each of her three incarnations. Â The other, the boy she falls in love with is always the same. Â Different names (except for his first and last lives, a fact she finds amusing), different parentage, slightly different personalities but the same goofy grin and same quick wit.
198. Â Her first life found her as a princess in Ancient Greece, with parents who claimed she was more beautiful than Aphrodite. Â The claim was considered blasphemy, and she was chained to a rock to be eaten for her parentsâ words. Â It seemed unfair, but she was too prideful even then to try and beg for her life from the gods. Â So, she kept silent and faced her fate. Â But her fate never came. Â Instead, there was a boy--a demigod--who carried Medusaâs head that turned the monster to stone. Â They married and lived happily ever after. Â Â Seriously, depending on what version of the myth you read, Perseus and Andromeda are described to look exactly like Percy and Annabeth so fight me on this.
199. Â Her second life had her as another Greek demigod, born in England. Â This time, she was a daughter of Apollo. Â Her mother had died when she was young, leaving the girl to become a charge to an aspiring artist during the early years of the English Renaissance. Â He taught her how to paint and how to play the lyre, which she found that she was rather good at. Â A soldier heard her playing, and quick banter made the girl find this soldier interesting. Â Due to who her father was, she was talented with a bow and arrow, so she cut off her hair, ran away from her home, disguised herself as a man, and joined the army. Â It was foolish, of course, and she died not long after by throwing herself in the way of a sword that was meant for the soldier she cared for.
200. Â One of the privileges of being in the Isles is that she can travel through the Underworld, but it comes with stipulations. Â It can never be for too long, she canât look for people she used to know who chose to stay in the Fields of Asphodel, she canât speak to demigods that come down for a quest, and the Fields of Punishment are completely off limits. Â She uses this slight freedom to visit Daedalus when heâs working, often offering up tips for the redesigns heâs doing and to play catch with Cerberus. Â As much as she enjoys the relaxing after three taxing lives, it does get a little lonely, even in a perpetual paradise. Â There are definitely some happy tears shed when she finally reunites with who she can only call her soulmate.

Team USA's Winter Olympics highlights and lowlights: our writers' verdicts
From Chloe Kims gold to Elizabeth Swaneys slouch towards glory, Guardian writers on the big stories from Pyeongchang
Best US performance at the Olympics
No American woman had ever won an Olympic medal in cross country until Jessie Diggins overtook Sweden and Norway on the final lap to win the team sprint freestyle alongside Kikkan Randall. The bubbly 26-year-old from Minnesota, who spends her downtime learning hip-hop dance routines from YouTube tutorials, suffered near-miss after near-miss early on in Pyeongchang when she finished in the top six but off the podium in her first four events, missing bronze by 3.3 seconds in the 10km freestyle. Nevertheless, she persisted. For her efforts and ebullience Diggins was chosen to carry the flag into the closing ceremony by her USA team-mates. BAG
John Shusters name was synonymous with failure on the biggest stage. It was always unfair. He had a good record in World Championship competition, and if anyone in the USA couldve outperformed him, he wouldnt have been in the Olympics. Americans have short attention spans, and we only notice the Olympics, where he has twice flopped as a skip. After a 2-4 start in Pyeongchang, every game was a must-win. He reeled off a long succession of clutch shots over the course of several days. A 4-5 record wouldve been fine. He, and his team, won gold. BD
The womens hockey teams win over Canada was the most exciting moment for the American delegation. It had been 20 years since the team had won gold, forever frustrated by the mighty Canadian team. And while this group seemed to have a better chance at gold going into these Games, the thought of actually beating Canada in the final sounded too daunting to imagine. Then they did and in one of the greatest Olympic hockey games too. LC
Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson. Hockey may be the ultimate team sport, but Lamoureux-Davidsons individual effort on her shootout goal to help finally push the US past Canada set her apart. A day after the US win, I was at a hockey rink and saw a group of young boys trying and failing to replicate the female stars puck wizardry. The US will likely have to go through Canada again in four years, but Lamoureux-Davidsons goal in Pyeongchang will live on forever. DG
Biggest US disappointment

None of the US womens figure skating contingent Bradie Tennell (who finished ninth), Mirai Nagasu (10th) and Karen Chen (11th) skated cleanly in any of their six programs in the singles competition, where an American woman failed to finish in the top six for the first time at any Olympics since World War II. As Alina Zagitova became the second-youngest Olympic gold medalist in figure skating history after Tara Lipinski, the heady days of American dominance embodied by Lipinski, Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen and Sarah Hughes never felt more distant. (And that was before the normally whip-smart Nagasus bizarre post-competition remarks, which shes been walking back since.) BAG
The disappointment was spread almost evenly, from speedskating to biathlon, but the biggest had to be figure skating. They were just good enough in the team event, and Mirai Nagasu in particular was exceptional. But after that, too many things went wrong. The highlights were Nathan Chens free skate and the Shibutanis free dance, along with beautiful but not highly scored skates from Adam Rippon. The lowlights: all three women had major issues with their individual performances, two of the ice dance duos faltered in the free skate, and Chen dug too deep a hole for himself in the short program. BD
Figure skating overshadows everything else at the Winter Olympics and the US traditionally does well in this sport. At least until this year. While there were a few bright spots for the American team Nathan Chens comeback and team and ice dancing bronzes the overall performance was poor, especially for the US women who have often been the countrys biggest Olympic stars. Pyeongchang showed how far American figure skating has fallen behind the rest of the world. LC
Things quickly fell apart for US figure skating after getting bronze in the team event and no number of Adam Rippon interviews could save it. The question for US figure skating is, considering the intense training required by very young athletes to excel in the sport, is it worth whats required to get back to the medal stand in 2022? DG
Star of the Games
Marit Bjoergen displayed her brilliance in Pyeongchang. Photograph: Odd Andersen/AFP/Getty Images
The only correct answer is Ester Ledeck, the winter sports polymath from the Czech Republic whose golds in alpine skiings super-G (in one of the biggest Olympic upsets ever) and snowboardings parallel giant slalom (as the prohibitive favorite) gave her an unprecedented ski-snowboarding double and made her only the third athlete ever to win individual Winter Games medals in different sports and the first in 86 years. Greatest athlete on the planet? The 22-year-old is no doubt in the discussion. BAG
Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjoergen already had 10 Olympic medals from four Olympics. Thats a remarkable career, but it wasnt enough for her. At age 37, she took five more, finishing her Olympic career with a rout of nearly two minutes in the 30km classical. She is the Michael Phelps of the Winter Games, holding the career record with 15 medals. BD
While Norway dominated the Olympics and should be celebrated as the star of the Games, we must pay tribute to the US mens curling team. The memory of five unathletic men with brooms in their hands will be burned in many minds for years to come. America is about to have its curling craze. A sport that has brought giggles for years will now spawn news clubs and a new generation of young American curlers looking for their own Olympic glory without having to lift a weight. LC
Chloe Kims father emigrated to the United States. And the 17-year old snowboarding superstar loves breakfast sandwiches so much she tweeted about them in the middle of her work day. Tens of millions of Americans can relate to at least one, if not both of those experiences. What we cant relate to is her ability to fly in the half pipe. But her talent, youth and personality means she will be the biggest name in US winter sports heading to 2022. DG
Villain of the Games
Elizabeth Swaney wends her way towards a very average performance. Photograph: Kin Cheung/AP
My personal villain was Soohorang. (Dont even get me started.) But a more universal choice would have to be the weather, which made a mockery of organizers attempts to schedule the alpine skiing competition by squeezing it on both ends of the calendar. As a result Mikaela Shiffrins much-hyped bid for history in five events was truncated to three. Her results in those races speak for themselves first in the giant slalom, fourth in the slalom and second in the alpine combined and by no sane metric could Shiffrins Olympics be considered a disappointment, even if the fourth-place finish did come in the discipline shes dominated since Sochi. But there will always persist a sense of what if surrounding Shiffrins fortnight in the Taebaek mountains. Who knows what records might have fallen had only the weather complied? BAG
Italian biathlete Dominik Windisch surely couldnt believe his luck in the mixed relay when Germanys Arnd Peiffer missed four shots, leaving the door open for Italy to take a medal. Windisch and Peiffer battled for the third spot all through the last lap. Windisch had a slight edge heading into the finishing straight, where lanes are marked and skiers are supposed to remain within them. Windisch and Peiffer each picked a lane just before the markers. But Windisch suddenly moved in front and cut him off. Peiffer practically had to stop and change lanes, finishing 0.3 seconds behind Windisch. The jury ruled the move legal. Bild saw it differently, with the headline: Italien foult sich zu Biathlon-Bronze (Italy fouls its way to biathlon bronze). BD
Wasnt Russia supposed to have been banned from these Olympics for manipulating thousands of doping tests for its athletes before and during the 2014 Sochi Games? And yet more than 170 Russian athletes were allowed to compete in Pyeongchang under the vague title of Olympic Athletes from Russia. There was even a Russian House, even if it wasnt allowed to use that name. Whats a ban if it isnt really a ban? LC
Weve all had the conversation about which Olympic sport we could most easily participate in without any training. Maybe its one of the people who sweeps in curling. Or the guy in doubles luge who doesnt steer the sled. But thats all its supposed to be: a conversation. Elizabeth Swaney actually did it in competition. Swaney loopholed her way into a spot in the skiing halfpipe for Hungary and then cautiously coasted down the course. Its not what the Olympics is supposed to be about. The Olympics are supposed to be about corruption and blood doping. Im sorry, I mean the best athletes in the world. DG
The USs performance at the Games was
Without diminishing the efforts and commitment of the individual athletes themselves, its hard to characterize the collective outcome as anything but a disappointment. The 23 overall medals won fell short of the USOCs target goal of 37 medals and baseline of 25. And only 11 of those 23 came in sports that were on the program at the Calgary Olympics in 1988, when the United States hit rock bottom with six to prompt an overhaul of the entire winter sports infrastructure. The downward trends in two sports where the United States has traditionally thrived, speed skating and figure skating, showed no signs of reversing. And this was without a full-strength Russian side in the mix. Let the inquest begin. BAG
Erratic. Also unlucky in the case of Alpine skiing, where the rescheduling hurt Mikaela Shiffrins quest to win a ton of medals, but she still wound up with a gold and a silver. In biathlon and speedskating, the USA had a strong 2017 season but fell off sharply this season. Its not that the squad is considerably worse across the board, but theyre missing some of the rainmakers theyve had in the past. In 2010, the USA had three athletes Bode Miller, Johnny Spillane and Apolo Ohno win three medals each. This year, the only multimedalists were Shiffrin, snowboarder Jamie Anderson and the ice-dancing Shib Sibs, each with two. But nine gold medals and 23 in total arent bad, and the breakthroughs in cross-country skiing and curling, along with the womens hockey thriller, will be replayed on NBC for decades to come. BD
Sometimes the obsession over medals can cloud perceptions of what the Olympics is supposed to be about. But the US was expected to win more than 23 medals, especially after taking 28 and 37 in the last two Winter Games. There were great performances like Chloe Kim in the halfpipe, yet overall the American team fell far short of their goals. Especially disappointing were the figure skating and speed skating teams. LC
Just good enough. The US finished fourth in gold medals in fourth in total medals, far back of Donald Trumps beloved Norway, but Team USAs big successes Chloe Kim, the US womens ice hockey gold, Team Shusters upset curling gold (I believe one or two people called it the Miracurl On Ice) meant that a narrative of underperformance could never really stick. DG
One improvement for the Beijing Games
This marked the United States lowest medal haul since the 1998 Nagano Games, when they finished sixth in total medals with 13, the same below-average placement their eight medals earned in Sapporo 1972. Thats worrisome when you consider Beijing will be the third of three straight Olympics in the far east after Pyeongchang and the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo. Theres always going to be a drop-off when you compete halfway the world, but lets just hope the USOC makes headway on whatever distance-based issues they can identify that are holding the team back. BAG
For organizers: start the Alpine skiing events before the opening ceremony so weather postponements wont compress the schedule so badly. For those who arent directly involved: get NHL players back in the Olympics. BD
Not only are cities finding it expensive to host Olympics but fans cant seem to afford the tickets. The everlasting image of Pyeongchang was event after event performed in front of empty stands. Its a lot to expect people from all over the world to spend thousands to come to the Olympics. Too often, the Games are held in places where locals cant afford to buy seats. In 2008 many Beijing residents were priced out of events being held in their neighborhoods: the IOC has to find a way to make tickets affordable otherwise they are just producing a television show before empty audiences. LC
None. In four years, I think well all be happy enough if the world is still in good enough shape for the Olympics to take place. DG
