Do you like wall of texts? because that I can provide with this question, and I will. From what I know, there seems to be two gateway drugs that lead to Jeffrey Combs. One Is horror movies, the other is star trek. I grew up with trek (reruns, alas the newest trek at the time would have been enterprise which I have little to no memories of) specifically it was tng and a little bit of ds9. While I've watched all of tng multiple times I'd never finished Ds9, so I finally sat down early last year to watch it, and as someone who already had like a bit of a crush on fuckin quark of all people I was fully prepared to be smitten with the considerably worse capitalist space goblin BRUNT. There is a sort of jena se qua to Brunt… Is this what you expected? BRUNT. IT WAS BRUNT. help.

Then I saw the episode 'To the death' whomst is this lovely, manipulative creature with the purple eyes? I luv him. Ok it wasn't actually Brunt that did it, it was Weyoun. To be clear these two had become my favourite recurring characters and I didn't even realize they were played by the same fucking guy! Not until ferengi love songs? Something broke in me the day I noticed the name 'Jeffrey Combs as weyoun' in opening title when it had previously said Brunt. …oh? wait he's also played by Jeffrey combs? tell me more. I then proceeded to rummage through this mans imdb to see what else he'd been in, saw Enterprise, watched that, recognized the frighteners which I'd already seen years ago and wondered who the fuck it was that he played, saw Reanimator- OH NO NEW OBSESSION ACTIVATED. Reanimator cured my artblock. I went from watching all his star trek roles to all his horror roles and it all just sort of spiraled. It definitely helps that every role is distinct, and he always gives it his all even if a movie's terrible (which it is more often than not) This man managed orbit around two things that I love but somehow stayed underneath my radar until now. Star trek, and weird horror movies. I was watching through a bunch of body horror movies in 2023 and had that continued I would have watched Reanimator and From Beyond. I had planned to at the time when i first heard of them, not sure why I didn't. If I had it would have kicked things off in reverse order tbh. All roads lead to Combs.

this au is the result of a what if scenario

what if Alchemax did actually catch Miguel, what if they trapped him and experimented on him for months, what if they managed to break him, brainwash him and had him under their thumb

what if they made him work for them under a new character called “the prowler”

on the other side of this story, Gabriel is loosing his shit, he’s looking for his brother but he’s nowhere to be found, and suddenly this prowler guy shows up

and it’s uncovered that he is miguel

let’s just say Gabriel is not having fun knowing that Alchemax kidnapped and brainwashed and quite literally tortured his big brother in there

he dons a purple and green costume and becomes downtown’s newest vigilante “The green Goblin”

and now he’s just trying to rescue his brother from Tyler’s clutches and get him back home, problem is, it’s hard to try and rescue someone when that someone is not cooperating in the slightest

1. Thomas Updates

Thomas is at Vidcon!!! He made a post on his twitter about meeting theodd1sout with a hand-drawn piece of art by him, which I thought was really cool!!! I haven’t kept up with theodd1sout, but I’m glad to see the guy is doing well :D

2. Fandom Updates

So!!! Fandom Updates!!!

As far as I’m aware, the RemRom shenanigans have calmed down--the people who don’t like it have, for the most part, calmed down about it, and the guys that DO ship it have mainly stayed in their own piece of the fandom. Now, if you guys follow my blog, you know my stance on RemRom (the tl;dr is I don’t ship it and never will, but ship and let ship: you can find my post about it HERE) and that it isn’t the same as my other mods’ viewpoints, but I’m happy to see the drama involving it has died down.This fandom is super great, so I’d like to keep it that way!!!

On top of this, I’ve seen TONS of fanwork involving Remus!!! I’ve seen him shipped with the others, seen angst written for him, seen fantastic fanarts of him being his goblin self, and overall I’m overjoyed to see the fandom finally embracing the stinky garbage man! If you are one of the folks who hasn’t seen Remus’s episode still because of triggers, HERE is a visual trigger-free version of the episode! If someone wants to hit me up with some quality Remus fanfic that’ll rip my heart out, send it my way!!!

Finally, I’ve seen a whole bunch of people thinking about what the next episode will be. I’ve heard Remus Backstory, I’ve heard an episode with Remus AND Deceit, I’ve heard final side reveal, AND I’ve heard people saying that the next ep is gonna be about Roman’s side of the mind! I, personally, think the next ep will be the follow-up to Selfishness Vs Selflessness, solely because I hate the resolution from that episode. It needs a part 2, Thomas & Co know it needs a Part 2, and a Part 2 is coming. I wonder if the Part 2 will introduce our final side, though... THAT would be interesting!

3. Theory Discussion

So, the theory I’d like to discuss today is who the newest side will be... Or I WAS, except that Remi beat me to it!!! So, instead, we’re gonna look at an oldie but a goodie... The theory that Virgil is Paranoia.

Now, for this to work, you do have to keep in mind that Virgil used to be a Dark Side; he very well could have changed his role in the mind to be less about pure fear and more about fear CAUSED by arguably more concrete information. An evolution, if you will, from straight fear to Fear With A Purpose (which is not to say that fear doesn’t have a purpose, just that with Virgil it’d have MORE of a purpose). So, when the sides avoid calling Virgil Paranoid, it can be theorized that its a respect for who he is NOW and not who he USED to be, and not just because Virgil looks like he’s going to remove heads from shoulders when it gets said.

My personal views on it? Well, I think it’d be really cool if it were true! I can’t speak for everyone, but my anxieties (about everything really, but more specifically about things like ghosts and stuff) stems from paranoia; I’d like to think that anxiety encompasses Paranoia, rather than replaces it. So Virgil gained more things to be in control of, rather than JUST being Paranoia.

5. Other Things That Happened This Week

Alright!!! The Amazon Strike is happening today and tomorrow, so if you can avoid it then don’t use Amazon or amazon-affiliated websites on those days! I’ve sent out my collection of Remus pictures (113 of them total) to a couple of friends who wanted some screenshots, and all of our mods have seen the newest episode! Remi started a Receipt (Remus X Deceit; and yes, I know the ship name isn’t receipt, but it works xD) fic, and it’s really good!!! They’re gonna get me shipping Receipt at this rate, but read it HERE!!! For the folks who knew me a LONG time ago, you’ll know that I got SUPER into Undertale and am the author of one of the larger fanfics, House of Papyrus. Well, good news for y’all: I’ve updated the fic and added new content; right now, I’m working on the next fully new content chapter. Read it HERE if you want to read it.

Last but not least, we do want to let those of you who have sent us suggestions know that we’ve seen them!!! We’re planning what we want to implement, since we’ve heard a fanart day as well as a cosplay day; we′ll keep you guys posted on that, so keep your eyes peeled!!!

1. What’s your favorite meal to have on a cold day?

Udon noodle soup is always super comforting to have on a cold day….most kinds of noodle soups are good tbh. I wouldn’t say I have a particular set favourite though!!!

2. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall?

Spring and Autumn are really good - Winter and Summer over here are really cold, and really hot respectively, so Spring and Autumn where you have a mix of in-between days or mild average temps is real nice.

3. Beach person or woods person? Why?

Having grown up spending a lot of time at the beach it just has a really nice vibe….theres not really any true ‘woods’ in Australia anyway idk if that’d make a difference in my decision.

The beach is nice, the sound of waves are good, plodding along the sand investigating shells and washed up things is GREAT. What else is cool…rockpools. Rockpools are wonderful lil ecosystems all on their own.

Whats not great? Having to then get that sand outta your clothes, outta your hair, finding sand in you bed weeks later…bringing sand home with you is the worst!!

4. If you have any OC’s, describe one of your newest !

I guess my newest OC would technically be Ashstride. They’re one of the main characters in a mini-campaign I’m currently running for my D&D group…its werewolf themed because I’m predictable as hell :3c

They're a non-binary rogue type character that has an eye for shiny things and knack for eviscerating their enemies. Currently they’re on a murder-quest to kill their current pack leader and re-stabilise the pack structure without giving too much away.

If things go well and they don’t get murdered, I’d like to bring them back as a player character one day.

5. Favorite art you’ve ever done/favorite piece of art someone else has done? (dead artist or currently living one)

Ooooh man its so hard to choose just one (so I won’t)

6. Extra blankets or extra pillows?

It used to be extra pillows, but now I’ve exchanged that for blankets. Winter is the best month for sleeping cause it means I can pile a whole bunch of blankets on top of myself and get real cosy.

Does the Maned Wolf still count as a ‘weird animal’? I love those weird leggy dogs on stilts…otherwise, Goblin Sharks are pretty cool.

10:30 usually…depends on how early I need to get up. If I’m not doing a specific activity I generally hop into bed around 9 and scroll tumblr/watch netflix/read until I get sleepy.

I get real cranky if I start missing out on a lot of sleep, so gotta make sure Im generally well rested [flexes]
