so i've been not-so-seriously considering doing a complete overhaul of the plot as is and having Solera return to the land with Thala and have them be all Bonnie and Clyde, just so I can write more about Solera because I love her. but as I get closer to the end of Solera's time above water, it's reminding me exactly why she so adamantly refuses to return to the shore with Thala. Even though I wasn't ever really truly considering changing that (it would be so so much work), it's now officially off the table, because it would be so incredibly out of character for her to even think about it, let alone do it

#writing journal #wip: seafoam #she won't be completely absent ofc #even if she won't show up on the page again until the very end of book three #she'll be in Thala's thoughts often #when she's longing to return home (which she's found in Solera now; more than anything the land has to offer her)#when she finds out the actual circumstances of Solera's acquisition by the church #when she's around Solera's family; in her home; sleeping in her bed when she's staying at the latridom #she'll be as present as possible without physically being there #now that it's a trilogy it really is set up like thg #which i was using as a sort of template for Seafoam #tss = thg in that it's the audience's first taste to the world and we get to see the potential in their romance #tus = catching fire in that the romance is really built up but then they're ultimately separated and things get worse/more personal #trt = mockingjay in that they stay apart for a while and assassination(s) and Thala is instrumental in bringing about the end of an empire #i still don't know what i was on thinking that i would be able to keep this all to one book lmfao
