Searches: "What does WAP mean?" before wards and after reading the search results he decides that he doesn't really need to listen to the song itself anymore.

He just clears his browsing history and returns to baking cakes. Nothing has happened, he knows nothing.

Cater Diamond

He is the guy making those "Night raven college react to WAP!!" videos on magicam. His reaction videos get over 100k views and people from all over the Twisted Wonderland start following this dork for them.

Who cares about the WAP itself? As long as he can gain followers over these videos he doesn't care how the song is supposed to be.

But at last Riddle discovers his videos by finding other dorms' students laughing over them and forces him to take them down💀 Man, Riddle really did ruin his once-in-a-life time chance for becoming popular.

Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade

Riddle has banned WAP Heartslabyul so they're going to illegally listen to it. It was Ace's fault though, Deuce is innocent.

Ace searchs up the music video, Deuce just sees the thumbnail and tells Ace that he doesn't think that this is going to be a good idea but Ace cuts him off by asking him not to be such a chicken-

Though they had to stop because Deuce was all shaky and embarrassed after just 20 seconds :"Stop this-STOP THIS- I CAN'T DO THIS- WE'RE STILL TOO YOUNG" and Ace had to stop to shut Deuce because they could've gotten caught at any second because of his unholy screams.

[a few minutes later...]

Deuce: It was saying DOORS in this house

Ace: Bruh what the- we both know it was saying Wh*res.

Deuce: Y-you dirty minded bastard!! It was clearly saying doors in this house!

Ace: Why the hell would they say doors in this house!??? It was wh*res!

[Before listening to WAP]: He hears of this WAP song being super trending between students. What might it secret be? What kind of magic would make a simple song so hecking popular? He has to find out.

Azul thinks that by learning WAP's ways, he might be able to produce songs that are even better for mostrolounge and even start his very own music company! But before that he needs to listen to wap itself...

[After listening to WAP]: ...He discovers what kind of magic is making it so popular, but decides that it'd be better for him take a step back from the world of music for now. Yes, he's traumatized

"Hey hey koooeeebiii chaaannnn have you seen my new dance~?" ah yes, he's got the WAP dance and he's proud of it. These are the time when he's genuinely thankful for getting to have human legs.

But the WAP dance isn't his only target, he realizes that Jamil doesn't seem to want Kalim to know anything about WAP, but thankfully, Floyd is going to be kind enough to bless the young Kalim with his wealthy knowledge on WAP. ✨

"My...my...that was savage," Jade is amazed, it's quite wonderful how these fragile creatures can go from Micheal Jackson's smooth criminal to WAP in a matter of years.

He's still having trouble keeping up with latest human trends and popular songs but, he's slowly liking humans a lot more than before. These creatures have already reached the level to make put p*rn in music, impressive.

Kalim Al Asim

He hears students whispering about an epic song named WAP during the classes, and of course he'd be intrigued!

He looks up the song but Jamil has already blocked his access to any sources that he might find WAP in, yet Floyd was kind enough to lend Kalim his phone to let him listen to this masterpiece. Later on, Floyd tells him about the WAP dance and bam, Kalim is addicted.

"Everyone watch me! I've got the WAP!"

Poor Jamil doesn't know which is worse, having Kalim signing it loudly in the dorm or watching him showing off his skills in that WAP dance in public. It's time for Jamil to go on a long, long trip and never come back until Kalim graduates from this school.

Jamil Viper

Listens to WAP once, is going to spend the rest of his life pretending that he has never heard or watched it. The most ironic part about it is how he watches the music video instead of just listening to the song and...the snakes. Good lord the snakes- He isn't sure if he likes snakes anymore.

The snakes part seriously traumatizes him but not like Kalim does when he asks Jamil to learn him the WAP dance. And heck no Jamil isn't going to learn him how to dance like a wh*re. At this point, he decides to deny WAP's whole existence.

Kalim: At least tell me what a WAP is!

Jamil:

Jamil: Worship and prayer.

Vil Schoenheit

Hasn't listened to WAP and refuses to do so. He's got standards.

Rook Hunt

Just as always, no one can really tell if Rook really liked it or not but from the way he acts he seems to be... intrigued. Apparently WAP starts to get too famous in school and Rook would always be the first one to find out if a student is secretly listening to WAP in public, so he doesn't mind popping up and reminding the students not to listen to such a potentially stimulating song so carelessly: "Monsieur (x), it's adorable to see you appreciating such a glorious piece of art in this lovely day, but I don't think that all of these students staring at us right now are yet prepared for such a beauty,"

Firstly thank you! Most of the clothing in AxA is 99% ayoshi with me going in after and cleaning/adding some stuff. So I give him props for the clothes :P As far as a ‘new PTS’ style group idk, there are a lot of amazing creators on simblr but I think the reason PTS was such a special thing is because the bond they all had. I feel that when working on collabs with some of my really close friends (such as the one coming out this month with @dogsill and @ayoshi) because we have known each other for over 2 years now. A group of friends built only for collabing purposes would be more of a hassle than an enjoyment imo. <3

zip your Sims 4 folder and upload it to Google Drive/SimsFileShare/OneDrive. Then when you install Sims 4 again you just replace the folder made in Electronic Arts in your Documents.

Alok Alok Vaid-Menon is one of my favorite poet/activist/performance artists out there! Their writing and stage presence is gorgeous and witty in a way that’s SO clever and still feels like you’re in a room trading jokes you don’t need to explain with your closest trans friends. The way they balance their art creates a real, deeply touching experience that feels very essential to our world.

Miles (2016) Miles is set in 1999 and is a coming of age story about a gay teenager trying to get a volleyball scholarship for college in Chicago. It’s not revolutionary and it’s not over the top dramatic, but it’s funny and honest and it makes me feel nice. Definitely the movie to watch when you’ve just been through something emotionally taxing and need a light crying session and some mediocre pastries.

Isaac’s 2018 November Recs!

The Adventure Zone I know half of you already kin the Mcelroys while the other half either don’t know or don’t care, but the Adventure Zone is one of my most favorite things in the world. It’s a DND podcast (yes, all episodes are transcribed, and they have a graphic novel for the first arc of Balance with a second one on the way!) by three brothers plus their dad, and not only does it have the most amazing story and is ungodly funny, but TONS of gays (Griffin went ape with those Lesbian NPCS)! And just because they can! Same with trans characters. It’s a story where they just exist, and that’s really important to me because in a lot of media LGBT have to almost prove why they deserve to take up space. And it’s not just something that goes on in their first campaign, Amnesty also has those sweet sweet gay! I could talk about this podcast for hours, so if you needed that final push to give it a listen, THIS IS IT!

Stardew Valley You get to farm and be gay. And if THAT hasn’t sold you on this charming video game, then maybe the super cute graphics, beautiful soundtrack and a handful of interesting characters will! TBH I spend so much time playing this game it’s concerning. It’s just such a fun way to relax, and I just really REALLY like video games were I can chose to be gay. Like. God Tier. YOU CAN HAVE CROPS AND CHICKENS AND BE GAY C’MON YALL!!

“As a female bisexual poet, I worry often that my poetry and art will be too niche to be appreciated. I’ve spent years editing my poetry down to its barest bones in hopes that someone will relate to it. Changing pronouns back and forth because I worry that if I do talk about a woman, the poem will be stripped of its context and suddenly be about my queerness when in reality it never was. When I write about love and people I have dated and have crushed on, I want the poem to exist outside of the gender of who I love. I fear my authorial death will result in a complete misinterpretation of what I mean. When I write, it truly does not matter to me if I am writing about a woman or a man. If I feel what I write and I can make someone else feel it too does it matter that I also love women? I write what matters to me overall, regardless of gender, I try to make my poetry as true as possible. “My LGBT Identity has significantly impacted almost all of my art, especially my work over the last two years. Ever since I have allowed myself to accept that I am trans and began my transition (6 months on T!), the impact that my Roman Catholic upbringing has had on my bisexual trans identity has bled into my artwork. Because of the way I was raised, accepting and allowing myself to be authentic has been an upward struggle. And what better way to process and document struggle than art?

Much of my recent work has had a focus on the trans body, particularly the “sanctity” of self-actualization and the god-like power that comes with accepting and creating yourself in the unique and exceptional way that LGBT people must in order to live authentically. Two of my pieces on this topic were actually recently exhibited at UWM in the Trans-lucent exhibition, and will remain there until December 15th (I think). I got sick and tired of never seeing trans representation, so now I am creating that space that I crave in my own work.”

Hello I’m back again briefly to do a review of idol-kun wa abakaretai aka “the idol wishes to be exposed”! Mainly Bc I didn’t agree w the story progression/details and I didn’t agree enough to warrant me coming on here again to write a review lmao

So I’ve seen some posts of this manga on IG before and I like the art (and also how the artist does sex scenes hehe. I didn’t ID them immediately as the artist who did the turned on by food BL which also has cute art but a questionable story) so I was like “nice” when I saw a translation of the entire story had been uploaded. And the general premise was interesting: a paparazzi who wants to get a big celebrity scoop so he can be moved on to other less-sus work and an idol who happens to have a connection w him and thus a target for his scoop. But ... as I kind of implied earlier (I didn’t mean to but when I wrote it out...) the art is good but the stories not so from this artist.

story started out fine. The first like two chapters implied potential for the story and honestly throughout the story there were some good like “plot twists” thrown in (like the first revelation that idol knew that main was a paparazzi all along despite supposedly being oblivious to it in the beginning despite all the sketchy stuff main was doing lol)

But then ... I mean the story developed alright, p typical for a BL story aka not great writing aka good transitions bw some stuff but then when the artist started trying to defend the paparazzi industry I was like ok NO. Trying to defend the work they do by being like “oh ppl enjoy gossip though!! It makes them happy!!” Is absolute bullshit. There’s nothing good abt paparazzi work other than the sometimes revelations of cheating and “scandals” like tht but still no. Even worse is at the end the guy is like no ill reject the offer to go on to a sports magazine Bc I want to get there w my own work and not Bc of networking which like ok but then he’s like “so I’ll make sure to bring in a bigger story next time” and I’m like alright so it’s respectable you want to ruin someone’s life then? I mean on one hand there are some celebrities tht are binches and sure deserve to get slighted but then I’m just thinking abt the less well-known celebrities that just make innocent mistakes or whatever. also in light of the main at one point feeling guilty abt exposing idol and being like ‘i’d be trash like my paparazzi coworkers if i do this ...’ tl;dr: I just didn’t like that the author tried to defend the paparazzi industry.

Also around the same time as that scene of main realizing ppl like his tabloid work, the idol realizes that maybe being an idol is actually good Bc he brings joy to others and then has a new desire to actually continue being an idol which like ok I believe that Bc I have heard of things like ppl prev being depressed but then learning how to heal after getting into idols/fandoms but also I thought he had been an idol for a while? Wouldn’t you know the positive effect you can have earlier?? Did their manager really only have them do lives and no volunteer work before ?? I mean I know nothing abt PR so maybe I know fuck all. even though idol life is indeed crap and not all stardom and happy stuff if personal accounts by idols are anything to go off of but i think there prob do exist some good idol managers/companies out there so i’ll let the defense of the idol industry go

Also the story had like a bunch of details/plot threads that like weren’t fully developed? Like the detail that the manager, the senpai idol member, and the promiscuous celebrity used to be part of the same idol group ?? I mean now tht I think abt it it was kind of wrapped up at the end w the implication that the manager was so protective of scoop was Bc his old idol group got broken up Bc of gossip ... but then I feel like the senpai idol member should’ve had a bigger part then? Also him being mean to idol main ?? Was never really talked abt again after that one scene where he cornered idol main and was like “smile bitch it’s your job”?? Like we really gonna ignore tht ??

Also lol at them implying a pairing bw idol senpai and manager. I was shipping promiscuous celebrity and manager but I guess the former is too into women I guess (sarcasm)

Also I liked the backstory bw main and idol aka them being high school classmates, but also at the same time i feel like idol’s back story wasn’t really fully fleshed out despite them dedicating like half a chapter to it. i guess it’s just a general case of ‘my fam teased me to the point that i felt that they didn’t give a shit abt me’ but no redemption for the fam. did like the unreliable narrator thing where the main was like ‘yeah i want to be a sports photographer’ but then why exactly he wants to do that/why he went in that career trajectory doesn’t get revealed until idol’s backstory ...

all in all i felt like the story was too idealistic w too positive of an outlook re: the paparazzi and celebrity industry (i’m not talking abt the public’s easy acceptance of idol and main being a couple, that was fine and also we don’t need more angsty stories of homophobic haters). also i’m not really sure that the author knows how those industries work together/in general. the story progression was alright, not great but not like absolutely terrible. the characterizations of the two mains weren’t entirely fleshed out. subplot threads that were there but not tied up too well at the end. cute art and sex scenes (cute as in they were drawn well/i like how they draw o-faces. if you like sex toys then you’d like the sex scenes fr too ig lol) though!

i realised i couldnt upload the file to vimeo bc it was 25 minutes long and thats just ... not happening with my free account so youtube it is B-) . i was going to make it super sped up but i feel the tenderness and attention to detail is a core part of the work so i decided to only trim it to 11 minutes which is still a considerable amount of time as the actions are very slow. there are some shots that are fleeting and meant to be harder to grasp, embodying the parts of girlhood that happen in the blink of an eye, the damage that can be done in only a few seconds.

this is the first instalment ?[i think] of the greater series responding to the notion/tumblr post [haha] ‘being a girl feels like non-consensual performance art’. i am aiming to explore girlhood and my experience of it, and to hopefully be aware that this is only my experience and does not try to be a representation of girlhood as a whole as that is something so ever expanding and impossible to capture wholly and accurately.

i have been thinking about this video series a lot and rolling the concept around my head over and over again, not really sure if i am anywhere yet but im getting my bearings. my experience of girlhood has been very influenced by the way i have idolised and worshipped certain musicians and other people. i have felt like this was my original religion, the precursor to why i so deeply need to investigate the themes of worship, the divine and inner spirituality now. adoring artists of all forms has been and continues to be a way of connection and wanting to strive towards something higher and more valuable than the individual self. i also have the tendency to overly romanticise people/places/ideas in order to feel more in love with the world and existence counteracting harsh existentialism/as well as fuelling that gorgeous feeling in my body of ACHING for love and all things wonderfully pleasant. (any who that is relating to another video work(s?) that i am going to create)

why do i feel like i need to create this content that seems a bit seperate from the idea of creating my own religion for personal solace/healing and the hopes that it may encourage viewers to explore their own spirituality freely. i feel like this way of existing and thinking and believing is the prequel to why i am interested in my current practices’ themes. it was / is extremely ritualistic and alike to the way people devote themselves to an idea or person that they dont truly understand or know, blind faith is true comfort. i also believe i do it because still in this era teenage girls/young women are still being constructed by people who are NOT teenage girls/young women. still being portrayed as these fictional characters that are here for the pleasure of anyone but themselves. i think we are partially complicit in these expressions but only because we feel as if we must adapt and mould ourselves around these ideas in order to be SEEN and heard. maybe im exaggerating. i just still feel as if the teenage girl experience is sneered and brushed aside, it isnt seen as valid or as powerful as it is. it is HUGE and so so so ? important. i would love to collaborate with all sorts of women/people who have experienced girlhood and to just create videos and share with everyone what the fuck happened and how it was INSANE and the most special thing in the world. probably been done a million times before but i feel like it needs to keep happening forever as the social and political landscape changes too.

this particular work references to the ritualistic aspects of being a girl and how something so authentic can appear performed/staged. my body doesnt look particularly animated or theatrical thus performative but i feel as if as soon as something leaves the private realm and enters the public it is a way of acting a role, being a certain way, holding yourself in a certain posture. as i prune and prepare the roses to be tied together, an air of contemplation and self-awareness is made. the slow, thought out actions build up and lead to a very small success. by filming this chore-like activity i invite the audience into my private life, my domestic realm, i want them to see me as a caring, patient character. i am engaging in a frivolous folly, i am engaging with accepted beauty, because i want to and choose to. but there are so many implications as a female doing anything. i suppose this series is at its core going to be about how i wish i could just BE. without overthinking all the ways i present myself and how i want to avoid certain interactions and how i want to look like this so people treat me like this. huge things. lots of things to keep thinking about.

You know exactly what we're talking about. There's one photo that sticks out in particular for everybody. Maybe you saw it on the cover of a tabloid while you were waiting to pay for your overpriced strawberries at Whole Foods. Maybe you saw it on Instagram, captioned with a phrase either far too sappy ("My everything") or deliberately nonchalant, meant to counter the image's romance with a cool factor ("NBD"). Maybe you saw it while you were scrolling through the Daily Mail app, part of your every-hour-on-the-hour phone routine (no judgment here).

This is the photo of the celebrity couple that made you think, damn, they're really in love. If you're an a—hole, it probably also made you think, damn, why do they get to be so in love? But let's all save that for our therapists, because the matter at hand is the picture and not what our reaction to it means for our mental wellbeing (jealousy is suspending during all matters of Hollywood relationships). Most of the time when a paparazzi shot like this is taken, it was staged.

There are several reasons for wanting to do such thing. Perhaps two A-listers have a mutual project coming up, for which a front-page tabloid shot will mean great publicity. Perhaps two B-listers are dating and are hoping to become A-listers. Perhaps two anything-listers are in a new relationship and wanting to make sure to debut in a perfect manner—perhaps that manner will also serve to distract from some potentially damaging news that is also about to be released.

Sometimes a staging is routed in spontaneity—a celebrity couple is out shopping or at a restaurant, they're alerted to the fact that a growing crowd of paparazzi looms, they decide that they'd rather be caught in an embrace than looking anything that could be possibly conceived as cold or unloving. Every person in Hollywood knows how quickly walking-to-your-car-while-holding-grocery-bags can turn into look-who's-fighting.

No matter the will or the way, staging is an art. It requires finesse and creativity. Or, you could just follow these easy steps.

SETTING

If an actor or musician is going to tip off the paparazzi to their location, that location better not look like a photo shoot. The shiestier, the better, really. Anything that looks private or like a photographer had to creep up on you to get the shot. If the resulting photographs are grainy or way-too-zoomed-in, all the better, because that makes it look like it most certainly would not be staged.

Think about it: What's more believable to you, that a couple is caught off-guard, mid-embrace, while leaving SoulCycle, or while waiting outside the back of a restaurant, amongst the dumpsters?

TIMING

If the celebs have a goal in mind for their staging, then this is the most important factor. True connoisseurs of the paparazzi game know that the real power move is to debut a brand new relationship with pictures. Think of the buzz!

To suddenly appear in a romantic embrace, with no prior evidence of a relationship (or even that the two members of the couple had even spoken before) is to suddenly thrust yourself into every pop culture conversation for at least the next week. Questions will abound—When did this start? What does this mean? Is it serious?—and so will your notoriety.

WARDROBE

The immediate temptation when a person knows they are going to be front-page couples news is to dress yourself up to high heaven. Put on your best shoes, wear your newest top, maybe even get a blowout. (A full face of makeup, sometimes for both parties, is a given).

But A-listers with iron-clad willpower resist! It's going to look so obvious to be wearing knee-high boots at Home Depot. The best advice one can follow is to dress for the occasion, but in an elevated manner. If you're taking a romantic walk on oceanside rocks, wear a chunky sweater, not workout clothes.

EYE CONTACT

Never make it. Never look at the camera. Look only into the eyes of your beloved. Or, if you're making out, keep your eyes closed.

BODY LANGUAGE

This is most important if you're trying to make it seem like you're a couple but you're not exactly organically romantically involved. You know, hypothetically speaking. But body language is also a factor for real couples that might be announcing themselves by allowing themselves to be photographed leaving a dinner at one of Los Angeles' most notorious date spots.

Again, hypothetically speaking, but you want to be caught in an embrace so steamy that it appears as though you are unawares of anything else. Or, if you truly can't stand each other and are in a relationship to promote something, then at the very least try not to physically recoil while being photographed.

PRODUCT PLACEMENT

If you're going to stage a photograph, why not get a little extra pocket money for it? This, ladies and gentleman, is the subtle brand ambassadorship. You're above that Instagram #SponCon and would die before you uploaded a selfie with your teeth whitener or anti-bloating tea (that hashtag #ad is way too lowbrow for you), so the perfect solution is to be caught holding your brand of choice. Look surprised! Look enamored with the product! Take careful precaution to turn the label directly towards the camera, free of any obstruction or glare.

Oh, and never forget to pack a little powder: The last thing anyone needs during a staged photo is shiny forehead syndrome.

Reverse Idol (Jungkook)

Before I start this, I gotta say a happy birthday to Jung Hoseok, I hope he’s having/had (depending on the time zone) an amazing bday I’m watching the vlive rn but I’ve seen some gifs and it seems like he was really happy and that makes me s o happy also his new hair is so beyond cute I’m in love!! Last but certainly not least is the second half of the Busan line, the final part to the maknae line, our golden maknae who is continuing to prove he’s talented, the first time I heard the whole “chong, jojun, balsa" bit I thought it was hobi but the fact that it’s kook is so amazing bc this kid can really contort his voice and I can’t wait for the MV, Jeon Jungkook aka kookie

This AU is gonna be about what I think would happen if the reader was the idol and BTS were the fans, you can also think about this like a general celebrity post, I’m gonna be basing this off of kpop idols bc it’s easier for me to write with just one focus instead of being all the over place with it but if you wanted to see this as an actor!reader or a non-kpop singer!reader post, you could easily do that (and of course this is all still gender neutral)

Jungkook is another huge fanboy but he’s the O.O fanboy like chim’s the :) fanboy tae’s the :D fanboy but kook is just wide eyed “oh my god oh my god”

When he loves an artist, he seems to really just look up to them like him and GD, we all know that boy loves GD I mean wasn’t it him that made kook wanna become a singer/idol that alone says a l o t about how much kook respects him

In public he tries to be -_- (it doesn’t last long but he does try) but at home he loses it

He’ll hear your song in public and his eyes get really big and Yoongi’s mentally starting the ten second countdown before Jungkook starts dancing along to it

It starts off with just a bit of foot tapping around the three second mark, at the five second mark, his head starts bobbing, at the seven second mark, he starts swaying until he breaks into the full choreography

Whenever he plays your music, everyone just knows he’s about to come running into the room dressed head to toe in your merch and start screaming the songs so they just all prepare themselves, vmin start stretching so they don’t pull anything

Sure enough, kook slides into the room with a hairbrush to use as a mic and start singing as loudly as he possibly can, not caring if he goes off key and he starts doing the dance to the song

But it’s actually really cute but all of the other boys get these huge smiles and they gotta join in

Okay but kook gets s o fucking into lip syncing or just goofing around and singing like we all remember the Linkin Park video that’s about all the proof I need and the fact that no one was really reacting to it tells me that he’s doing that shit at home too

The boys all know your music since I have this head canon that if one member knows an artist, they all know that artist just bc they’re all so close it’s easy to assume they’re sharing their favorite music with each other

Him reacting to performances is super cute too bc he gets so into it and he’s singing along and dancing and you can tell he’s genuinely enjoying it and what I love about kook is that he gives the performances his full attention

I was watching him react to one of Astro’s performances and his eyes are just glued to the stage and it’s so sweet

Of course I gotta bring up his reaction to the Rainism performance he literally started performing in the crowd and it was so fucking funny and cute you could just see how excited he got

His fans all know about his crush on you even though he tries to play it cool it’s pretty damn obvious

In the background of a lot of his videos, you can see some of your posters and some albums and he just giggles when he gets questions about it which totally gives away the whole crush thing bc your face lighting up at the mention of someone is normally a pretty good indicator that you have some sort of emotion towards them, whether it’s platonic or romantic

Plus in his live streams, he’s always got one of your albums playing in the background

And Vmin may have just maybe totally told everyone about his crush on you during one of their Q&As and Jungkook may have screamed when he saw them do it he m a y b e chased Jimin with a shoe and threw a banana at Tae’s head

Okay so an a m azing anon suggested this and it has become my head canon entirely

Jungkook has a tumblr right and it’s mainly art and gaming shit, those are the main focuses

He uploads his art a lot, they’re normally drawings of characters or musicians he likes and one day he uploads a drawing of you and everyone flips

Not only is it s o realistic, it’s also getting all of the shippers fired up and ready to scream bc it’s obvious it took some time to draw and Tae uploads a few videos of kook on snapchat like two weeks ago where he’s staring really intently at the screen of his phone and no one knows what kook’s drawing so everyone’s excited

And then the excitement doubles when it’s revealed that he was drawing you and then Jimin adds onto the excitement by stating it’s not the first time kook has drawn you

You notice the drawing bc everyone sends it to you, even the people who don’t follow kookie send it to you bc it’s rea ll y good we all know how talented kook is especially when he puts his mind to something and he’s not about to half ass a drawing of his crush

You tweet out about it bc you don’t know who did it so you’re just like hey this is really good, whoever drew it and then everyone immediately starts telling you it’s Jungkook’s (the boys also help out by tagging you on instagram in kook’s pictures bc they’re wingmen all of them)

Kook decides in honor of your birthday, he’s gonna release a cover of his favorite song by you bc he’s released a few covers here and there already so why not do one for you and that does n o t help the shippers’ poor lil hearts at all

He doesn’t know that you know who he is yet so he doesn’t even think you’re gonna see it but little does he know, you’re following him on all the social medias bc he’s super cute in all the ways

It’s a more laid back version of your song, it’s just piano and kook’s voice which is s o nice and you can’t believe that this is the same kid you just watched dance around in a Pikachu onesie during one of his celebration videos

After that, you just h a v e to contact him bc he’s so sweet in his bday wishes to you and he’s just so cute and precious you gotta do it

Ight but to announce your relationship to the public, he releases all of the other drawings he’s done of you

The birth of this lecture happened unexpectedly. I place this birth somewhere in the previous months.

During that period of time, I was addicted to live streaming videos of the earth as seen from the International Space Station.

Additionally, I had to choose an “object” as subject for analysis in the framework of the seminar lectures titled: Anthropology of Material Culture.

Guess what(!): Earth rose as my object-star.

More precisely, the problem I have chosen to deal with could be presented through the following questions:

What are the main attributes of the object-Earth analyzed as a product of material culture?

Is there any common human perception of the earth as an object?

Which are the lines connecting or separating people’s notions about this unfamiliarly immense familiar mother-object?

Can the diverse representations of the earth tell different stories?

Can the plenty and unique narratives draw different images or do they form a unique and autonomous mosaic made out of smaller heteronomous parts?

What is the image of the earth, taking into account the scale of the planet and the distance needed for the “whole picture” to be achieved?

Is there any ontological difference between the human notion of the earth and the earth itself?

Do these representations work as springs of power that form and effect streams of communication between the human beings?

Throughout history, the earth is represented in many ways. Geometries varies from the flat-plate to the globe, and from that to the deformed ellipsoid. In terms of trajectory, earth could be found either in the center of a planetary system (or even of the universe) or in orbit around other celestial bodies. A variety of orbit or pivot axises, different shapes and positions in the ring-system derive from empirical observations as well as from states of human imagination or formal texts and informal customs or traditions. From Pythagoras and pythagorians, Aristarchus and Aristotle to Galileo and Copernicus, alterations of the dominant model of the solar system count thousands years of life. However, there is no doubt, that empirical and scientific conjunction, which led to the contemporary scientifically proved solar system model, historically collided with quite different versions of cosmic representation. Especially in religious texts, in which Cosmos is God’s creation, priests are responsible for cosmological issues. In other words, each cosmic model is compatible with specific narratives and vice versa.

In Plato’s Republic (380 BC), Er revives on his funeral-pyre and tells others of his journey in the afterlife, including an account of reincarnation and the celestial spheres of the astral plane.

In the sixth book of De republica (54-51 BC) Cicero describes a fictional dream-vision of the Roman general Scipio Aemilianus, set two years before he commanded at the destruction of Carthage in 146 BC. Scipio Aemilianus is visited by his dead grandfather and finds himself looking down upon Carthage "from a high place full of stars, shining and splendid". His future is foretold by his grandfather, and great stress is placed upon the loyal duty of the Roman soldier, who will as a reward after death "inhabit... that circle that shines forth among the stars which you have learned from the Greeks to call the Milky Way". Nevertheless, Scipio Aemilianus sees that Rome is an insignificant part of the earth, which is itself dwarfed by the stars.

Macrobius, later, comments on the dream of Scipio and therefore he comments upon the nature of the cosmos, transmitting much classical philosophy to the later Middle Ages. Following Macrobius through the combination of knowledge and imagination, many scholars contributed to this ancient dialog. This thought, is obviously relevant and somehow ancestral to our contemporary knowledge for the solar system. Could not be excluded that this thousand year old heliocentric model involving spherical objects, gradually became an arena for religious conflicts. The flat earth as the center of the universe constitutes an exemplary conflict point between the Protestants and Catholic teaching. Let’s make the hypothesis that when someone prefers a God they prefer a Cosmos and consequently a version of the Earth.

But what happens if, as Nietzsche said, the God is dead or even more critically if, as the “Whole Earth Catalog” begins [W]e are as gods and might as well get used to it?

The hypothesis transforms. So, could be a fact that different narratives refer to the making of new planets and, therefore, even if we meet each other on one planet's surface, at the same time we reside in different ones. How tragic could be the scenario of human beings making planets with no flight routes to connect each other?

As Heidegger puts it, human dwelling is the residing of mortals on the earth under the sky and in front of the gods. In this philosophical perspective, human life is inseparable from the understanding of the whole earth as home. Apart from this planet-house notion, an ecological consciousness could be discerned. Moreover, ecology definition (from Greek: οἶκος, "house", or "environment"; -λογία, "study of" implies the dwelling connection of the human beings to their home planet. Around 1970 environmental-ecological movements started to turn global and use the image of the earth as one of their main symbols. The same period the earth day established. The skyrocketing awareness coincides with the first whole earth images captured thank to space programs rockets, vehicles and satellites.

The “Whole Earth Catalog”, a counterculture magazine first published in 1968, stands as an exemplary evidence of the synchronization of the rise of ecology, political movements, global media communication, space technology and new ways of representation of the earth. In 1966, Stewart Brand initiated a public campaign to have NASA release the then-rumored satellite photo of the sphere of Earth as seen from space, the first image of the "Whole Earth." He thought the image might be a powerful symbol, evoking a sense of shared destiny and adaptive strategies from people. An item is listed in the Catalogue if it is deemed:

1. Useful as a tool,

2. Relevant to independent education

3. High quality or low cost

4. Not already common knowledge,

5. Easily available by mail.

Nowadays, there are innumerable photos of our planet seen from space either shooted from a satellite or an astronaut's hand. The internet seems to make the Catalog’s list irrelevant offering free access to plenty of tools and education in teleporting speeds. But the inverted problem of the access is still there. There so many tools and so much information, that makes all this worthy stuff invisible. A new version of the Catalogue could be just a series of links uploaded redirecting the user to the website of the product previously “advertised” in the printed version.

What has been already said should be interpreted rather as a comparison than a historical reference. In anthropological perspective, the importance of scientific evidence is equal to the significance of minor beliefs like the flat earth hypothesis. Throughout a rapid digital ethnography taken place in the cyber-field of chat bars and comment lists under and next to earth live stream videos or relevant videos or topics, a nebula of earth’s versions was drawn out. Continuing to speak in anthropological terms, there is no essence in trying to prove which version is true and which is false. What makes sense is the understanding of the living process of information, communication, knowledge, art and imagination that give shape to every version of the planet.

After surfing through the infinite online conversations related to the earth, a spectrum of thousands personal perceptions of what the earth looks like turns into a universe made out of options of Earth, and by extension of the Cosmos.

This process is both global and personal and it is related to the channels of information everyone is randomly exposed to or selects either to plug-in or to unplug.

I suggest this procedure to be seen as a planet laboratory, a space where planet-making and cosmo-poiesis take place. A metaphorical definition of the objects being produced in this laboratory of material culture is the holographic one. As Roy Wagner puts it, “when a whole is subdivided, it is divided into holograms of itself”. In this way, in the case of Earth, all the planets the laboratory creates as fragmental representations of the earth, could work as autonomous planets. At the same time, the pragmatologically unique planet Earth is the total aggregation of the fragmental representations.

I finish this lecture by presenting one exemplary planet_lab-product: the ISS planet. As referred before, the image of the Earth as a globe was conceived either through science or through dream and imagination since the ancient times. The first visual evidence came out thousand years later after NASA publishing the first whole earth photograph. A few years ago NASA started the HDEV (High Definition Earth Viewing) program, the first live streaming video connection between the ISS and earth. Almost everyone has the opportunity to get themselves in orbit and observe the earth from this inhuman perspective travelling in extreme speed and complete a full spin around the earth in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Personally, I first stumbled on this video using Youtube. There was a channel transmitting the image of the earth as seen from the ISS. The video was accompanied by an ambient music background augmenting the cosmic feelings of the user by adding some soundscape information. Additionally, as I realised, the video was real-time material edited every time the ISS entered the dark side of the earth. In a nutshell, the original video should be black 45 minutes out of the total 90 minutes ISS needs to complete a spin around the earth. Finally there is a chat bar to the right of the video where the users can post strictly in the english language. I have used many times this video as a relaxing visual and audio background.

On the other hand, the NASA original video is transmitted through the less popular Ustream. In this video there is no soundtrack and some commands break the cosmic silence. The half video is indeed black and there are no restrictions or specific rules for chatting.

If the ISS_Planet is a hologram of the Earth, then the Youtube_Planet and the Ustream_Planet are holograms of a hologram, namely the ISS_Planet.

The Youtube hologram is always bright producing ambient sounds. The chat is quick, overcrowded, often censored, with no specific subject of conversation.

The Ustream hologram is half bright and half black. There is no sound. The chat is more science oriented. It is easier for the users to develop a conversation.
