Imagine life being put on hold for just a morning. That is what happens when you experience a boudoir session with Perfect Impressions Photography.

The tiny details of your boudoir session are what will make your session unique and complimentary to who you are as a woman. We'll ask you to bring your personal perfume bottle, a pair of heels that are significant to you, maybe your wedding heels or veil.

We'll incorporate things like florals, greenery, unique furniture pieces and jewelry pieces. We'll assist you with choosing lingerie and wardrobe pieces that not only photograph beautifully and compliment your body type, but fit who you are and make you feel comfortable and incredible.

Upon arriving to the studio on the day of your session, we'll have music playing that will get you pumped up for your session, mimosas on hand, and our professional makeup artist will be here to do your hair and makeup. Her natural and fresh approach to hair and makeup complements our photography seamlessly, and she is incredible at bringing out each woman's natural beauty. Whichever package you choose, we'll spend the next couple of hours together, capturing your beauty most delicately and romantically.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?

I recommend you contact me as soon as you know you’d definitely like to work with me. The sooner I can put you on my calendar, the better, as summer months and Christmas and Valentine’s dates fill up quickly. If you’re planning to create a beautiful album to give as a gift for a special event like an anniversary or birthday, we’ll aim to schedule your shoot for about 2-3 months prior to that date. That gives us plenty of time to plan all the details of your session, and leaves me enough time for the editing/retouching process, album creation, and shipping time.

I can also accommodate a limited number of last minute sessions. If your event or gift is needed imminently, I’ll do my very best to squeeze you in somewhere

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE?

There are a few maintenance type things that you’ll want to think about in preparation for your shoot. This isn’t a must-do list, it’s just some suggestions for things you may want to consider having done.

Get your roots done! This one is not optional, you’ll hate your images if you don’t.

Mani/Pedi. Don’t forget that the colour you choose needs to work with all your wardrobe options, so a neutral is usually best.

Waxing. Have this done about a week prior to your session if possible.

Eyebrows. We’ll do makeup, but we don’t have time to tweeze and shape, so make sure you’re happy with their general state ahead of your shoot.

Hydrate! It’s great if you can drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your photo shoot. It makes a world of difference to the appearance of your skin and eyes, and it’s good for you anyway.

Lip Balm. Apply liberally for several days before your shoot to avoid chapped lips..

Watch what you eat in the day or two before your session. This is not the time for crash dieting, but it’s worth avoiding anything that makes you feel bloated or gives you headaches. On the day of your shoot, you MUST eat, but aim for small healthy meals rather than a giant plate of greasy chips. I think this is actually far more psychological than physical, but either way it’s hard to feel sexy if you’ve carb loaded on crap, right? Save that for after the shoot;)

PROFESSION MAKEUP & HAIRSTYLING.

One of my select team of professional, highly skilled makeup artists will be on set to create the perfect camera-ready look for you. Often a second makeup look is also possible, which will gives added variety in your image gallery. Hairstyling is also provided. Your hairstyle will be created by a makeup artists who is also professionally trained in hairstyling and session styling.

WHAT ABOUT POSING? I’M WORRIED I WON’T LOOK GOOD…

It’s absolutely normal to feel this way. The thought of getting in front of a camera can be scary. Doing it while half naked can be downright terrifying. I totally get this. It’s my promise to you that we’re going to make sure you’re prepared, comfortable, and understand the process.

Posing is actually one of the easier parts. All you have to do is listen and attempt to do what I say. Really, you don’t even have to listen that well since I will show you exactly what to do most of the time. If you know your right from your left and your elbow from your knee, you’ll be absolutely fine.

IS A PLUS SIZE BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION DIFFERENT THAN OTHER BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS?

Yes and no. The layout for a Plus Size Boudoir Session is identical to any other session – planning and prepping before the session, a few conversations beforehand to make sure we’re on the same page and that you don’t feel like I’m a complete stranger, a professional makeup artist and hairstyling on the day of your session, several wardrobe options and sets, plenty of posing and coaching, editing and retouching on your best images, and a beautiful viewing a few days later.

First off, I’ll tell you not to worry. Being curvy often means that you’ve had a LOT of bad photographs taken. This often translates into a general dread at the thought of being in front of a camera. After all, it’s much easier to simply be missing from the picture than have to deal with the shame spiral that takes over when you see how horrible your stomach/arms/whatever looked in said picture. I want you to know that I really get this feeling, I understand it in a personal way, and it’s a big part of what led me to photography in the first place.

The great news is you are not going to have that feeling with me. Not over my dead body:) A camera is just a magnification. In inexperienced hands and bad light, it magnifies all the things we dislike about ourselves. On the flip side, when you put your trust in a photography professional who has the necessary experience, you’ll be amazed how great you actually look. It’s simple things like moving your shoulders a few inches forward, turning slightly, stepping a little further into the light, etc. but they make a world of difference. I promise you, I know how to light you properly and how to direct you into poses that will be the most flattering for your hips, your stomach, your chin, etc. It’s all starting to sound very technical now, but it’s actually a lot of fun. It’s liberating if you let it be, and by the end of our time together, I’m pretty confident we’ll change the way you see yourself. All you have to do is be brave enough to give it a go:)

MAGAZINE QUALITY RETOUCHING.

Professional, magazine-quality retouching on all your best images is included with every Boudoir Session. I don’t believe in drastically altering your appearance or body type, and I genuinely think that my clients are perfectly beautiful exactly as they are. That said, I firmly support making small changes to any bits of your body you aren’t fond of, and/or correcting any lumps and bumps that appear due to wardrobe or posing. I especially support cleaning up the things that can’t be otherwise helped but drive you crazy, whether this is cellulite, forehead wrinkles, or stretch marks. I mean, c’mon – we all have cellulite. None of us want to see it in a photograph of ourselves.

IMAGE VIEWING & PRODUCT ADVISING

Fine art prints, gift albums, and all other products are available for purchase separately at your viewing and ordering appointment. 4 to 7 days after your Boudoir Session, we’ll meet up with again. After a quick catch up, I’ll show you the very best images of yourself. To say this is a fun meeting is an understatement. Every client experiences it differently, but be warned that I frequently hear a bit of profanity;) Often, it’s a sort of unbelieving shock that takes a few minutes to sink into a lovely mix of happiness, overwhelming satisfaction, and a healthy dose of smug I-am-HOTness. After the initial presentation, we’ll step through the images one by one (usually 35-50 images in total) and have a good long look at each one. Following that, I’ll help you determine which products and presentation options will suit you best based on the images we’ve created, your goals for the shoot, and on your lifestyle. I offer a range of beautiful photographic albums and folios, canvases, and a number of other fantastic products all designed to allow you to savour the experience for years to come. I also have great options for gift giving, whether you’re buying for a groom, yourself, or a spouse overseas.
