Ruby - Atlas Design Critique.
I'm ending things off with a post about Ruby, now I do love making these kinds of posts but I don’t want to make it a top priority because, of course, I wanna draw other things especially since I start college around the corner. These posts tend to take more creative juices from my small brain. Until then, just consider critiques/redesign posts on a hiatus.
RWBY Archives
I’m glad you guys were able to see me talk about outfits in a negative, negative, neutral-positive, and now POSITIVE way, mainly due to being biased. The archives say pretty much the obvious in her having a new style and being more cutting-edge with the look aka more stylish. I think they nailed it as she looks more mature and better yet her corset is way more reminiscent of Pyrrha. You know? The friend Ruby wants to honor since she saw her die right before her eyes- I can keep gushing about how cool she looks but uh, again I’m being biased, she’s cool-looking but not… practical. As in this outfit isn’t necessarily good to wear in Atlas, or rather the tundras. I wouldn’t mind this if she was solely stuck in Atlas/Mantle but she goes on outside missions, why on earth is she wearing a mesh? If anything this outfit would serve better if she was in Vacuo. The outfit had an alternative version of No Sleeves and even her presumed Volume 10 outfit looks so identical to her Atlas design.
Amazing how even the best outfit in Team RWBY still doesn’t make her look warm for the climate.
Hair
Remember back in my Blake Critique post on how I said I hated the ‘Spitting-Image of Parent' trope in fiction? They could’ve given Ruby a ponytail to look similar to once again; Summer, but they didn’t they got Ruby’s messy bang out of her field of vision and swooped it to the left! She looks 100% cuter and combat ready and while everyone was excited at her for looking more like Qrow, I was excited cause her hair looked more like Taiyang’s hair in being swooshed to the left. Though I wish they gave a reason as to why Ruby changed her hair all of a sudden, when characters change hairstyles it’s usually to show a display of growth with a ‘Show Don’t Tell’ reason but I’ll be biased and assume Ruby just wanted to look more mature ever since stood her ground in Argus for a reason I don’t wanna rant about.
Primary Color - Red!
Ruby doesn’t fail in representing her color of Red. The long red cape already does the job well plus her red skirt, she’s a gold star for being a red-themed character. But when it comes to her sleeves, blegh. I’m sure people have noticed this by now but Ruby’s sleeves are light gray which is so similar to her skin tone, which puts more emphasis on her arms. I swear the first time I saw the teaser trailer and saw Ruby’s model, I thought they decided to ditch the sleeves but no. The sleeves are just super light like her skin. I think it would’ve helped the design if they either made Ruby tan like her sister or made the sleeves a darker gray.
Negatives?
I do love Ruby’s Atlas look but as I said I can’t be biased. As cool and cute as she looks it isn’t a proper outfit for the cold environment she’s in, she even shivers in the show canon. The sleeves matching her skin look weird. An open skirt is silly and what’s sillier is a belt holding it in place. I also really hate how Ruby’s cape was just… replaced. Back then I thought her cape had significance as she continued to wear it even when it was withered and tethered, but even back then I thought her Vale cape held more significance- but anyways it was just replaced. Whatever I guess- oh my god it’s the same cape with lazy fabric around her neck. They couldn’t give her a different styled cape? One where it’s held together by a string? Buttons? Pins? No?...
Redesign
Okay, I know it’s crazy, but I ditched the cape and emblem. I know, I know! I just used the canon logic and since the cape didn’t mean anything to Ruby for it to be replaced, she could just ditch it for now. I know the cape is an iconic element but I couldn’t find a way to incorporate it. I also ditched the metal emblem, I know it’s a ‘mother’s promise’ and her mom’s emblem but uh… she didn’t wear it in Volume 2, I didn’t think she would care to wear it now. I wanted the look to be different but I think I just made Ruby unrecognizable now. I know the formula is to have Ruby wear a cape and the metal emblem but I just… couldn’t. I’ll confess to you guys about something, the main inspiration for this outfit was Ruby’s Ice Queendom design. I love it and wanted to try to get Ruby with that similar vibe, but I can understand if everyone may not like this. No cape, no metal emblem, and looks a little more childish when Ruby is supposed to be mature. I get it, but I wanted to show you guys that you shouldn’t be afraid of drastic changes to designs. It can sometimes work and sometimes not.
Conclusion
Ruby’s outfit is still arguably the best amongst her team even when it’s not climate-appropriate, as much as I nag about her sleeves being too close to her skin color and the decision of her cape being repaired I still do love it. It isn’t perfect I can admit that but she is on the top best Atlas designs for me. If this outfit was instead held off for Vacuo or a return to Vale, it’d be top fifteen at the very least in all of the designs we’ve seen across the show.
But of course it’s just my opinion. If you love this design or hate the design, please share your opinion. I’d love to hear it! :D

Ico is an action-adventure title developed by Team Ico and released by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 2 in 2001. Directed by Fumito Ueda, it tells the story of a young boy named Ico, who is born with horns, considered a bad omen by his village. As a result, he is taken to a remote, castle-like fortress to be sacrificed. However, Ico manages to escape his confinement and begins to explore the eerie castle. During his exploration, he meets Yorda, a mysterious girl who is also trapped there, and together they form a bond as they work to escape.
The gameplay centers around exploration, puzzle-solving, and escorting Yorda through the castle. Known for its minimalist design, the game avoids traditional HUDs and complex mechanics, instead telling its story through the environment, character actions, and atmosphere, with minimal dialogue. Puzzles are largely environmental, requiring players to navigate obstacles using both Ico's abilities and Yorda's unique powers. Ico can jump, climb, and fend off shadowy creatures, while Yorda can open magical doors that block their progress.
One of the defining characteristics of the game is its emphasis on atmosphere and emotional depth. Through the use of light, shadow, and a haunting soundtrack, it creates a melancholic and immersive experience. The relationship between Ico and Yorda is at the heart of the narrative, with much of the emotional impact coming from the player's efforts to protect and guide her to safety.
For me, Ico is one of the greatest video games of all time, definitely in my top 10. I praise it for its artistic design, innovative gameplay, and emotional resonance, and I credit it with influencing many subsequent titles, particularly those that emphasize atmosphere and storytelling.
Going deeper, I don't just see this title as a game but as a work of art. In gaming conversations, I often refer to it as "gaming poetry." This term captures the game's ability to evoke deep emotional responses through its minimalist yet profound storytelling. The combination of its ethereal atmosphere, subtle narrative, and unique gameplay mechanics creates a sense of artistic expression that I have rarely seen in video games, especially at the time of its release.
The relationship between Ico and Yorda, and how it develops through gameplay rather than dialogue or cutscenes, is another aspect that drew my acclaim. Players must physically hold Yorda's hand to guide her through the castle, which not only functions as a gameplay mechanic but also deepens the emotional connection between the characters and the player. This level of interactivity in storytelling was groundbreaking, and it's what initially led me to describe the game as a "poetic" experience.
Again, referring to "poetry" is the best way for me to encapsulate what Ico represents: a rare and delicate blend of gameplay, art, and emotion that resonates with players on a deeper level, offering an experience that is as much about feeling and interpretation as it is about action and challenge.

23, 24, and 49 for ze ask game :3
A game ending that’s really stuck with you
😂 This might not quite be the sort of thing the question really wants, but: Plants vs Zombies. I loved the little concert by the sunflower so much I looked up the singer, Laura Shigihara, (who also composed the music for the game) and am a fan to this day.
Honorable mention to Illusion of Gaia, revealing that the main character's victory changes the past; they saved Earth, reverted it to its original form, but those who gave their lives to do so were still dead, and the heroes had no memory of doing it. Suffocatingly bitter.
A “Wow” moment of awe
Shadow of the Colossus, third colossus. The game was already thoroughly putting me in a state to be wowed, and the first and second colossi were huge and impressive. But something about finally making my way to the top of that huge structure and then seeing this humanoid sky scraper that I would have to beat? Jaw dropping.
Honorable mentions go to:
Ico, when you make it out to the battlements against the rising sun (it was rising right? god it's been years)
the opening cinematic of Chrono Cross (otherwise a game that did not grasp my soul)
the clouds clearing around the plateau in Breath of the Wild.
Hardest boss in gaming?
That I've fought? Hollow Knight's Nightmare King Grimm. Hollow Knight was one of the first games that introduced me to bosses that I needed to fight over and over to beat, and of all those in the main game, he was the hardest. As I got better at the game, even harder bosses of the late game weren't so rough. The final boss took me... five tries or so? The White Defender took almost 10. I lost count on Grimm around 40.
I admit I probably should've changed up my strategy long before that. Funny thing though about Hollow Knight specifically though, beating a boss basically requires memorizing all of their attack patterns. When I met him again in one of the pantheons, I got him first try.
No honorable mentions here, Nightmare King Grimm stands alone.

ʙᴀꜱɪᴄ ɪɴꜰᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ
Name : N'ico Garou (she/her/they) Nicknames : Ico, Garou Age : 25 Occupation : Jedi Knight Current residence : Jedi Temple, Coruscant. Home planet : N'Zoth (canon planet name, but I built the rest). Independent and apolitical planet, known for their ethical raising of livestock. N'Zoth is also called Takodana's far-moon.
ᴍᴇ ᴀꜱ ᴀ ᴊᴇᴅɪ ᴋɴɪɢʜᴛ
Weapon(s) : two lightsabers, both pale yellow Fighting style : master of Shien & Djem So, proficient in Soresu and Makashi. Former Jedi master : Kit Fisto Current duties : i'm part of an investigation team that is looking for Sifo Dyas, I'm regularly sent on missions on other systems, and I sometimes act as a substitute teacher at the Temple.
ᴍʏ ᴊᴏᴜʀɴᴇʏ ɪɴ ᴛʜɪꜱ ᴅʀ
My S/O : Obi Wan Kenobi (26) Trope : childhood rivals to colleagues to lovers
Backstory : I was born on N'Zoth to a Zoth farmer and a Coruscanti smuggler who had been seeking refuge. Soon after my birth, my father, the smuggler, is contacted by an old friend of his and he is never seen again. My mother falls ill and passes away soon after (sad backstory who's surprised). The rest of the community proceeds to raise me together.
On my third birthday, a Zoth trader who suspects I may be force sensitive goes off-planet to Takodana and presents me to Maz Kanata, who is force-sensitive. Maz confirms his suspicions.
This confirmation triggers several intense community meetings on N'Zoth. It is common knowledge that force-sensitives can have a hard time in the future if they receive no training (this is specific to my dr). On top of that, the Zoth deeply respect the jedi and what they stand for, so they'd be honored if one of their members became one (I might make another post on this lol, but in my dr the Jedi are known to be fierce protectors of apolitical planets like N'Zoth).
However, the Zoth are a very tight-knit group who have difficulty sending anyone from the community away...ultimately, they are unable to reach a decision. They call upon the Jedi Council to send someone to talk to them.
Kit Fisto is sent and helps reach a settlement. The Zoth decide on leaving me to the Jedi Order, with the sole condition that I'd be able to visit my home planet as much as I wanted. I become a Youngling at the Temple and then Kit Fisto's Padawan.
At around 6/7, Young Obi Wan starts fueling animosity and competitiveness between us (he'd probably say it was me who started it but don't trust him guys he is a liar and a cheat). We spend our Youngling and early Padawan years trying to one-up each other constantly. The whole thing must've been so silly to watch from the pov of an older Jedi Master but to us it was life or death.
We eventually grow out of it and we go our own way.
Fast forward to my early twenties, I pass my last Jedi Trials on a difficult mission with Kit Fisto. I get knighted and start going on missions alone.
My first shift : I am currently hitching a ride inside a small commercial ship, on my way back to the Jedi Temple. A few days later, the Naboo blockade happens. I am called to go to a meeting with the Jedi Council to discuss sending reinforcements. I interact with Obi Wan for the first time in years.
He will get knighted by the end of the Naboo conflict (Qui Gon does not die in my dr).
Following events (for now) : my dr *loosely* follows the plot of Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and a tiiiiny bit of Revenge of the Sith. I have switched some dates around and shortened the duration of the main conflict (2/3 years instead of 10+). There are far less battles and there is no actual "war".
In my dr, Sifo Dyas is still alive. Soon after my knighting I become part of the investigation team that is looking into his disappearance. A few months after my first shift and through our investigations, our evidence starts hinting that Palpatine was somehow involved.
Anakin had been found by Qui Gon a few years prior to the Naboo blockade and became Windu's padawan. In the future, he becomes a knight, does not turn to the dark side, and will catch Palpatine alongside his former master. Order 66 is never initiated (thank fuck).
(I haven't watched SW rebels yet so some things might change if I decide to include some parts of the show).
*note : the Jedi Order in my dr has a slightly different dynamic that the canon one. The canon one raises some ethical questions that I just don't want to deal with when I shift there heh. Might make a post on the changes I made idk.*

Ethereum Price Predicts Bullish Surge: Vitalik Buterin Discusses Roadmap to Widespread Adoption
Key Points
Ethereum’s price indicates a potential bullish rebound amidst a bearish crypto outlook.
Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, proposes a pathway to reduce the minimum staking requirement to 1 ETH.
Despite the current bearish outlook in the crypto market, which has led to a 3 percent decrease in total market valuation to approximately $2.1 trillion, Ethereum’s price is leading the major altcoins in a bearish trend.
The high-capacity altcoin, with a fully diluted valuation of around $282 billion and a daily average traded volume of about $22 billion, witnessed a decline of over 4.2 percent in the past 24 hours, trading at about $2,346.
Potential Bullish Pattern for Ethereum
Contrary to popular expectations, Ethereum’s price could be forming a potential bullish pattern as it enters the fourth quarter. From a technical standpoint, the Ether price is retesting a critical support level, which could surprise many bears.
The top-tier altcoin is forming a potential reversal pattern characterized by an inverted head and shoulders (H&S) shape along with a bullish divergence in the daily Relative Strength Index (RSI).
However, if the Ether price consistently closes below the support level of around $2,121, the bullish reversal pattern will be invalidated. This could lead to bears pushing the Ether price below $2k towards $1,954.
Nevertheless, the former scenario is more likely as the crypto market is expected to rebound and follow Gold and major stock indexes. Upcoming US elections, changes in the global economic outlook, and increasing geopolitical tensions could serve as major bullish factors for the entire crypto industry.
Reducing Ethereum’s Staking Requirement
According to Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, the current threshold of 32 ETH to achieve a validator position is high enough to prevent mainstream decentralization. Therefore, Buterin has suggested a pathway to reduce the minimum staking requirement to 1 ETH in the future.
Buterin believes that core developers should work on increasing the bandwidth requirement in exchange for lowering the overall staking requirements to 16 or 24 ETH. As the Ether core developers work on the PeerDAS upgrade and the Orbit SSF, Buterin emphasized that the ultimate goal will be to lower the staking limit to 1 ETH.
Ethereum Whales and Market Activity
The past few weeks have been challenging for the Ethereum market as on-chain data shows whales have been actively selling. The Ethereum Foundation has sold nearly $10 million year-to-date to cater for its expenses, and the US spot Ether ETFs have registered significant cash outflows recently.
Since the approval of the US spot Ether ETFs, more than $557 million have been liquidated, led by Grayscale’s ETHE. Earlier today, an Ethereum ICO wallet sold around 19K ETH, worth around $47 million, thus dampening the bullish sentiment.

How to Avoid Common Cryptocurrency Scams
Cryptocurrency has surged in popularity over the past decade, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other digital assets gaining mainstream attention. However, with the growing interest in cryptocurrencies, the number of scams has also increased. The decentralized, anonymous, and often irreversible nature of cryptocurrency transactions makes it a prime target for fraudsters. In this detailed guide, we will walk you through how to avoid common cryptocurrency scams, protect your assets, and stay safe in the crypto world.
Daily Crypto News: What You Need to Know Today
Top Cryptocurrencies Under $1 to Invest in 2024-2025
Cryptocurrency Mining: Is It Still Profitable in 2024?
1. Introduction to Cryptocurrency Scams
Cryptocurrency is an exciting financial frontier, offering freedom from traditional banking systems, decentralized finance (DeFi), and the possibility of substantial profits. However, this also attracts scammers looking to exploit uninformed or overconfident users. Crypto scams range from simple phishing attempts to sophisticated Ponzi schemes, making it critical for every crypto user to understand the risks and learn how to avoid them.
In 2023 alone, cryptocurrency scams accounted for billions of dollars in losses globally. The decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies makes them both exciting and dangerous. Once a transaction is made, there’s no way to reverse it, and tracking down criminals can be almost impossible. By the end of this article, you will have the knowledge and tools to protect yourself from these scams and stay one step ahead of fraudsters.
2. Common Types of Cryptocurrency Scams
Phishing Attacks
Phishing scams are among the most widespread threats in the cryptocurrency space. In a phishing attack, scammers pose as legitimate institutions—such as crypto exchanges or wallet providers—to trick users into giving up sensitive information like private keys, passwords, or two-factor authentication (2FA) codes.
Example: A fraudulent website that looks identical to a real cryptocurrency exchange may prompt users to enter their login details. Once entered, these details are captured by scammers, who then access the victim’s account to steal their funds.
How to Avoid:
Always double-check the URL of websites you visit.
Avoid clicking on suspicious links in emails or text messages.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on all crypto accounts.
Ponzi and Pyramid Schemes
Ponzi and pyramid schemes have plagued the financial world for decades, and they have naturally found a home in the cryptocurrency space. These scams promise high returns with little to no risk, luring people in with unrealistic profit potentials. However, returns are paid to earlier investors using the money from newer investors. Eventually, the scheme collapses when new recruits dry up.
Example: A crypto platform offers guaranteed returns of 10% monthly with minimal investment. New investors are paid out with funds from subsequent investors until the scam collapses.
How to Avoid:
Be skeptical of platforms offering guaranteed returns or “too good to be true” investments.
Avoid investment schemes that focus more on recruitment than on a legitimate business model.
Fake Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs)
Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) are a fundraising method where new cryptocurrency projects sell their tokens to investors before launching. While many ICOs are legitimate, some are set up purely to scam investors. Fraudulent ICOs promise innovative technologies or solutions, but the creators disappear with the funds after raising money.
Example: A promising new token project collects millions of dollars during its ICO phase but never actually develops the promised technology, vanishing with the investors' funds.
How to Avoid:
Conduct thorough research on the team behind the project. Ensure they have a reputable track record.
Analyze the whitepaper critically and assess whether the technology or use case is feasible.
Stick to ICOs that have a verifiable history or endorsements from trusted figures in the crypto space.
Pump and Dump Schemes
Pump and dump schemes are market manipulation tactics where the price of a low-volume cryptocurrency is artificially inflated (pumped) by false news or hype, only for the organizers to sell their holdings (dump), causing the price to crash and leaving investors with worthless coins.
Example: A group of traders starts promoting an obscure coin on social media, driving up the price. Once the price has risen significantly, they sell off their holdings, leaving everyone else with heavy losses.
How to Avoid:
Be wary of sudden spikes in cryptocurrency prices driven by social media or forums.
Conduct thorough research before buying into a new coin. If the coin has little information available, avoid it.
Rug Pulls
A rug pull is a scam in which developers of a cryptocurrency project abruptly withdraw all liquidity from the project’s pool, causing the price of the token to collapse and leaving investors with worthless assets. This is common in DeFi projects, where developers may list tokens and quickly disappear after securing investments.
Example: A new DeFi project promises to revolutionize decentralized finance but pulls out all the liquidity after gathering a substantial amount from investors.
How to Avoid:
Verify that the project’s liquidity is locked for a set period.
Research the team and ensure they have a visible, credible presence in the crypto community.
Malware and Ransomware Attacks
Malware is malicious software designed to infiltrate and damage your computer or steal information. In the context of cryptocurrency, malware is often used to steal private keys or crypto assets from users. Ransomware, a specific type of malware, locks users out of their devices until a ransom is paid in cryptocurrency.
Example: A crypto user unknowingly downloads malware that scans their computer for private keys, allowing the attacker to steal their assets.
How to Avoid:
Use antivirus software and keep it updated regularly.
Avoid downloading software or clicking links from unknown or untrusted sources.
Use hardware wallets for long-term storage of your crypto assets.
Cloud Mining Scams
Cloud mining services offer users the chance to rent mining hardware and earn cryptocurrency without having to purchase expensive equipment. While some legitimate cloud mining services exist, many are scams that take users’ money without providing any mining power in return.
Example: A cloud mining website offers attractive returns for minimal investment but fails to deliver any profits and eventually shuts down, leaving users with nothing.
How to Avoid:
Research the history and reputation of the cloud mining service.
Be skeptical of high-profit promises with low investment requirements.
Choose services that have been operational for several years and are transparent about their operations.
Fake Exchanges
Fraudsters may create fake cryptocurrency exchanges that look nearly identical to legitimate platforms. These exchanges either steal funds directly when users attempt to deposit or manipulate trades to swindle investors out of their money.
Example: A fake exchange offers lower fees and better prices than the competition, but when users deposit funds, the money disappears.
How to Avoid:
Use well-known, established exchanges with a good track record.
Verify the domain and SSL certification before interacting with an exchange.
Research user reviews and complaints to ensure the exchange is legitimate.
