#tony's loyalty and stubbornness and drive for vengeance and easy confidence could all be facey qualities!

i said i felt like there was time between tony lashing out at oney and joining drew where it could have turned out as just a passionate face-face argument, where tony is so OVER his luck in this division that he snaps in an instant, but where he can ultimately come back from it (especially against oney who is by all means an uncontained bastard who can surely appreciate the powerful fury of a shunted babyface), but i feel also like oney being the one to find tony was A Last Straw! 

tony’s time as a face starting from his title win, he’s been fucked over so badly!! he was sitting around with nothing to do to the point he and mustafa were bantering about it on twitter! he ASKED drake to defend his title against akira, and he got turned down! and even when that finally went through suddenly DREW barges in the match without jumping any hoops besides taking out noam??? 

tony was struggling to be a face with no one on his side, a void to fill left by the two brightest faces leaving the brand, he imitated them and tried to represent 205 with pride and dignity! he turned his drive of Being The Best into an actual MOTIVATION, suddenly that drive has direction because he wants to represent this brand well, but this is kind of a recursive motivation that leaves him floundering. tony’s motivation isnt his arrogance, it was always his friends, and now he’s only got the ONE motivation and its being actively ignored!!! 

and suddenly DREW’S champion, not even beating TONY at first but the person tony ACTUALLY wanted to fight, and oney’s here and he gets to face drew like, what, three times? FOR the title? drew gets to hold that title and he gets to DEFEND it and he demands and takes things and gets them and tony does everything he’s supposed to now (regardless of how taking things was never really his style, its just the one he followed when he HAD friends) and he gets NOTHING??? 

and ONEY LORCAN IS JUST...HERE? oney is a screaming, nasty, WEIRD looking hellion of a man! oney doesn’t do ANYTHING right, he’s not the best babyface by ANYONE’S standards, he’s vicious and he’s erratic and he’s brutal, and he’s BELOVED! he’s respected and he gets cedric’s blessing and he gets title shot after title shot while tony struggles to his feet. and then oney has the audacity, when he’s made to assemble a team of cruiserweights with a pool of PRETTY FEW FACES, he doesn’t pick tony! tony, the face champion! tony, who WAS a champion! tony, who thought he at least had a good word in with akira! he picks someone OUTSIDE the division, and tony is INSULTED. 

and then, with the gold standard dynamic refreshed in his mind, with no motivation besides his friends on the opposite end of the face-heel dichotomy, with NOTHING to show for months of trying so fucking hard to be good and only coming off lost, he loses to mike FUCKING kanellis, and oney lorcan has the AUDACITY to try and comfort him. to say he Understands. oney, who gets to drive ariya through tables and gets to hunt drew like a dog to the ends of the earth, oney who might have had more title matches than tony did as champion, oney who was entrusted with the future of 205 by tony’s most respected rival. 

like.........this could all have fed into a face-face feud as well, but tony feeling so shafted by allegedly The Good Guys only to be pitied by oney after his team beat tonys...certainly could be a HELL of a driving factor towards slamming the door behind him on the way out
