Was in the mood for one of these!!:
How tall are you? 5’3
What color and style is your hair? Brown and really long, well past my boobs now. When I was little and I didn’t brush my hair my grandmother said I looked like a witch and I’m proud to say this is still true. But I did buy a nice brush recently, because the tangles were getting intense.
What color are your eyes? Green, but they look brown unless you’re right up in my face. It’s complicated.
Do you wear glasses? I used to wear contacts daily but they gave me all kinds of trouble so my husband finally convinced me to get Lasik in 2015. I love it, best decision. I have a phobia of routine doctor visits but am weirdly fond of minor surgical procedures and the whole thing is a good memory. I was supposed to leave my eyes closed all day after the procedure, so I listened to Ghost to Ghost AM shows from the early 90s in bed and cried lol it was great.
Do you wear braces? No, I was advised to maybe get them as a kid but it wasn’t super pressing and my parents didn’t want to pay for them so now I have a mildly messed up jaw situation. When I was 24 a doctor told me I’d eventually need jaw surgery if I didn’t get braces and even though I could have technically afforded them then I didn’t want them so didn’t do it-- learning from my parents’ approach there! So we’ll see what happens.
What is your fashion/sense of style? Skirts and shirts or dresses. Open-toed shoes anytime possible. In the winter, black tights and black ballet slipper type shoes and toddler romper-looking dresses that I couldn’t get away with without the tights. Never pants, which are the most uncomfortable things in the world on my short legs, especially jeans. Mostly the same pieces I’ve been wearing for the past ten years.
Do you have a sibling? Yes, a little brother
What kind of student were you? Terrible and extremely lazy until I was 18. I was in the gifted program because of a test I took when I was like five and I specifically remember kids boggling at me re: this because I seemed so dumb. In high school I calculated the bare minimum I would have to do to maintain a 3.0 grade average (to qualify for the HOPE scholarship) and that was all I did, I would completely skip entire projects if I could get a B in the course without doing them. I think in my senior year I missed like 50 classes per semester; I remember getting letters. Then in college I was a great student because my teachers were better, I had less anxiety about going to class and I was paying for it. I got a scholarship for my sophomore through senior years and had no debt when I graduated! Then I went to grad school and took out a big loan to pay for it because I was too lazy and scared to student teach :x
What were your favorite subjects? Literature and History
What’s your favorite TV shows? Quantum Leap, Adventures of Pete & Pete, X-Files, Breaking Bad (though I hated season 1?), Halt and Catch Fire, Mad Men, Felicity, and a ton of others, I watch a lot of TV
Favorite books? The Green Knight by Iris Murdoch, Birds of America by Lorrie Moore, Like You’d Understand, Anyway by Jim Shepard, A Manual for Cleaning Women by Lucia Berlin
Favorite pastimes? Fanfic, swimming, cooking, reading media criticism and travel forum reviews, being around cats
Regrets?: All the times I’ve been a jerk to people and/or gotten enraged about something really petty. Also sitting on a Harry Potter fanfic panel at Dragoncon when I could have been playing X-FILES LIVE! with Dean Haglund and drunk Chris Owens UGH. I’ll never not regret this. I didn’t even like HP fanfic that much!! Some friends roped me into it and then the track director was a dick about our panel even though it was packed and imo a huge success (everyone was laughing and having a great time! It was the fucken NC-17 Harry Potter fanfic panel at like 10pm). Also because of this I had to interact with Todd McCaffrey, another lifetime regret.
What is your dream job? A job like the one I have now only nobody bothers me all day, or at least very infrequently-- I just sit at a desk from 9-5 and work on writing whatever I’m into at the time and maybe type a few business letters on the side.
Do you want to get married? I am married.
Do you want kids? I always thought I would eventually, but every year I ask myself if I’d rather go to Hawaii or have kids this year and the answer is always Hawaii (not that I can afford to go every year, but you know, in theory).
How many countries have you visited? Let’s see: Italy, Greece, Turkey, Japan, England, France. Six! I somehow thought there were more, I guess just because I’ve been to England a lot.
