I feel like sharing my thoughts on Nimona, feel free to read or ignore.
Nimona was okay.
Predictable, except for the very end (it was kinda setting your expectations for this to be a tragedy). I didn't feel anything watching this movie; hardly laughed at any of the jokes, didn't cry at the end, was a little distracted by the plotholes.
The animation was good, not a fan of the giant pupils personally, but that's just me. Nimona looks very gremlin-like throughout the movie, 👌👌, the action sequences are fun and chaotic. The final boss scene is beautifully animated. Though, I feel like they repeated the ostrich running animation.
It seems like it wants to be deep but it didn't really work for me because Nimona was literally a monster. :/ I do like her little moment of vulnerability after she shows Bal that, yeah, she has fire breath just like his initial description of a monster.
Out of Netflix movies I've seen recently, I think I'd place it a little higher than Wish Dragon and below A Whisker Away.
I don't think I can look at movies the same way after Across the Spiderverse, it's totally risen my bar to the point of everything getting the status of okay.
I'd give Nimona a 8.7 out of 10 though. It's good but not anything super spectacular or nothin'. It's a tad overrated. I don't feel any need to re-watch it ever, but it ain't bad so don't take this "review" as me saying you shouldn't watch it. If you like animated movies, gay people, monster protagonists or kaiju movies you'll like the cut of this movie's gib.
It did prove that a movie can be gay and it can be just normal about that. Yeah the main discriminatory aspect of this movie comes from status, nobility, and keeping up that normalcy. No one in their society was mad about Gloreth's descendant being gay; they were mad that some random peasant boy became a knight when that position was exclusive to the elite. The fact he was brown and villain-coded with all the blacks and reds he was dressed with prior to the main event made him a bit of a black sheep (Gloreth was some blue-eyed blonde lass so most of her chosen knights are still white but her descendant isn't still white after a thousand years which I can appreciate; in the comic he is so that was a detail made for the movie adaptation). But the people in that universe are very flip-floppy about who they like as they were glad about Bal's ascension before the queen was killed.
It sort of bothered me while watching that they didn't backup the video on their base's computer like this movie is in a sci-fi setting and they literally use it to upload a video across the web later in the film so it just seems stupid? Yeah, that's the word; a nicer one would be foolish but yeah. Like you could feel the narrative being twisted to allow for the final conflict. Everybody in this movie is flip-floppy about who they trust. It's a little dizzying and a tad frustrating lol.

That line delivery, man. It's good.
