What's the difference between a Chimera and Beastmen like Izutsumi that can't transform back into a human at will like Lycion does? Because on paper they kinda sound like the same to me; two soulds fused together through magic

I think the difference is how they're made?

About how Izutsumi can't transform back the problem is that there's more of the monster than human, so if she tried to "change back" the tallman soul would be the one to be suppressed.

There's also the fact that beastmen seem to be way more "mixed" than chimeras, like Senshi explains there's more of a clear divide between Falin and the dragon than there is between Izutsumi's human part and the the cat monster

I imagine dungeon lords make chimeras instead because they want a smart and powerful monster instead of a 'monsterlike human'?

Also just a nitpicky disclaimer cause I see this joke often when it comes to that Lycion explanation, Izutsumi isn't "actually a cat monster turned human" just because there's more monster than human in her, Izutsumi is a fusion between both you can't take part of it and call it the true self.
