I knew people on this site were kind of stupid and gullible but WOW. ‘Gaza’ is currently trending at number one on Tumblr because loads of blogs have been spammed with copy and pasted asks from ‘Palestinians in Gaza’ begging for donations to their GoFundMe pages. And Tumblr users, by and large, are just re-blogging them (“omg of course!” 🥺) no questions asked. Man, I wish I’d known how easy it was to scam people on this platform a few years ago. I could’ve paid for college. 🫠

Indeed - no critical thinking skills whatsoever. I've said this before, but I do get the desire to want to help - when you see people suffering, there is a need to feel like you can do something, anything to help alleviate it. That's what these scammers always rely on, and while that is abhorrent behaviour on the part of the scammers, people do still have a responsibility to themselves to make sure their brains don't fall out of their heads and fall for obvious bollocks.
