For the fandom confession: the to ship or not wars at present are really a sign of how people expect art and stories to be essentially tailor made to their desires. This manifests in other ways such as not supporting the WGA strike. Regardless of the series being discussed, it mostly makes me want to tell people to relax, sit back, leave if it stops being fun. It’s not individually for you and that is fine.
I know I basically meme on how much I love to complain about everything under the sun, but. Yeah. (And I do think it's worth examining wider, overall trends in fandom-some of which apply to shipping. But that's not...what any of this is. It's just "what will make me look good and give me fandom clout and allow me to feel a sense of personal/moral superiority" which is just. Why would you spend your time in fandom. Doing that.)
People so often really do just expect every story to fit into all the exact boxes of what they personally want at all times, and I'm pretty sure I actually wrote a long-ass thing about this phenomenon a while back. (Art that is not made by you! Is not for you! You just get to see and evaluate it!! As anon said, if it bothers you that much, walk away!!!)
And most importantly, we support the WGA strike in this house. :)
Anonymously tell me a fandom-related confession
