authors note: i'm also sad about miami 😭 but i'm sure that god willing charles will do well in the race!! i kept it short because i wanted to post it before the race anyway, i hope you like it 🫶

As Charles walked back to the Ferrari garage after crashing during the quali at the Miami Grand Prix, he couldn't help but feel devastated. He knew he had let down the team and his fans, and the weight of that failure was heavy on his shoulders.

But as he approached the garage, he saw a familiar face waiting for him. It was Y/N, his girlfriend, who had flown all the way from Europe to be there for him.

Charles' heart skipped a beat as he saw her, and he ran over to her, pulling her into a tight embrace. "Y/N, I'm so glad you're here," he said, his voice shaking with emotion.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," Y/N replied, holding him close. "I'm here for you, Charles."

As they walked back to the motorhome, Y/N could see the pain etched on Charles' face. She knew how hard he had worked to prepare for this race, and how much this setback meant to him.

"I'm so sorry, mon amour." Charles said, as they sat down on the couch. "I let you down."

"No, you didn't," Y/N replied, taking his hand in hers. "Accidents happen, and you're still an amazing driver. I'm proud of you, Charles."

Charles looked at her, his eyes filling with tears. "Thank you for being here for me." he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Y/N leaned in and kissed him gently, feeling the love and pain in his touch. She knew that he was hurting, but she also knew that they would get through it together.

For the rest of the day, Y/N stayed by Charles' side, comforting him and reminding him that he was loved. They talked about the race, and Charles opened up about how much the crashes had affected him.

"I don't know if I can bounce back from this," Charles said, his voice low. "It feels like my confidence is shattered."

Y/N squeezed his hand, "You will bounce back, Charles. You're strong and talented, and you have so much potential. This is just a bump in the track."

Charles looked at her, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Y/N. I don't know what I would do without you."

Y/N smiled, "You'll never have to find out, Charles. I'll always be here for you."

Charles smiled back, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him. He leaned in and kissed Y/N once more, holding her close.

"I love you so much," he whispered.

"I love you too, Charles," Y/N replied, smiling up at him. "And I'll always be here to support you, no matter what."

Charles smiled back at her, feeling grateful for her unwavering support. "I know you will, Y/N. And I promise to always be here for you too mon amour."

Y/N's smile widened, and she leaned in to kiss him again. They sat together, enjoying each other's company and the peaceful sound of the waves.

As the night fell and the stars twinkled above, Charles and Y/N knew that they were in for a challenging weekend.

With Y/N's love and support, Charles felt a renewed sense of confidence and determination. He knew that he would do everything in his power to bounce back from the setbacks of the day, and that he would make her, the team and his fans proud.

As they finally headed back to their hotel room, hand in hand, Charles felt a sense of peace wash over him. Whatever challenges the future may hold, he knew that he would face them with Y/N by his side. And that was all that mattered.

Finally a first language laddering post! In the near future I hope to start posting updates to my personal studying, maybe accompanied by study materials for others to use if I have the time! But first, I wanted to post an introduction.

Language Laddering!

An Overview

I recently made a post asking about interest in me posting my personal Japanese -> Korean language laddering study journey and resources. And a lot of people seemed interested! Let's start off with an introduction to language laddering itself, since people may not have heard of it, or may not recognize this name for it! For my own personal stuff, I hope to post updates to my studies along with some resources as regularly as I can manage!

What is Language Laddering?

Language laddering, as I'm using the term, is a method of language study in which you use one target language (TL1) to learn a second target language (TL2). Basically, you cut your native language out of the equation and study in a target language!

How I Ladder

There are several methods you can use that I'd say count as language laddering, but I'm only going to go super in-depth into the methods I personally use!

If you study this way and have a specific method you love that I didn't mention, please mention it in a comment or reblog! I'd love to hear more methods.

Reading Japanese textbooks for Korean

Getting access to resources in Japanese is definitely harder because of international shipping, but I'm able to find store listings that offer sample pages! I've been using these until I can get the money to actually buy them.

In the meantime as I wait to get fully Japanese texts, I use the speaking pen from Learn Korean With BTS, haha- the speaking pen reads the book in four languages, and Japanese is one of them! So I just listen to it like an audiobook instead of reading the English!

Using apps and websites made by and for Japanese learners

While my Japanese dictionaries and apps are all in English, my Korean dictionaries and apps are all in Japanese!

I use an online Japanese-Korean dictionary on my phone, and when I practice grammar and other concepts in Korean, I use Japanese websites for Korean learners.

Recently, I've been using the site ハングルの森 to review basic grammar. I've been getting a pretty strong hold on Japanese grammar terms, too, which is exciting for more fully laddering!

Laddering languages in the way I choose to can be a very fun way to learn a new language and study one you've already been working on, but it doesn't work for everyone!

People who enjoy learning grammar and reading about how language works may enjoy it because they can learn grammar the way it's taught in their target language rather than how it's taught in their native language! This can be exciting, it's interesting to see how different languages teach concepts and learning grammar terms in a TL can open grammar-related doors! If you're a linguistics nerd like me, grammar-related doors are super exciting.

However, if you struggle a lot with understanding language instruction, and classroom language learning is really difficult for you, then it may only make things harder to try and use your TL's classroom language learning material for a new TL.

And that's okay! Not every learning method is for everyone. Learning through immersion may be easier and less frustrating if you struggle with classroom learning!

And guess what?

You can still ladder languages when doing immersion learning! Watching something in your new TL with subtitles for your stronger TL is one good way you can combine immersion learning with laddering!

I hope to post more about language laddering, although it will probably be pretty catered to my own personal study! People can feel free to send asks about anything specific they'd like to know! (Although I certainly am not an expert, so I can't answer everything)

[Thoughts] Why Lari regressed

I strongly believe that Lari regressed to save Rupert's fate from becoming a tyrant. It was never stated explicitly in the novel, but there's quite a few hints to suggest it. For starters, the author, Eclair-nim posted in an afterward in Vol 6: "[...] Even if people put their minds to it, "change" is not something that is easily accomplished. So even if I could turn back time, it would be difficult for me to reverse a decision I've already made. Despite this, I hope that Lariette and Rupert, who have not given up on growing and moving towards the future with each other, will be happy for a long, long time."

Both Elclair-nim and Hayeon-nim, on social media say that they wish for Rupe/Lali to be happy (yes, most authors say that but I feel they wish happiness for these charas a bit more than usual). Throughout the story, one of the biggest themes is [change], and it's established that Lari wanted to change from her previous impassive, ignorant self to someone who can think for herself and choose how to live her own life... but she also suffers from a fear of change, which is why she continues to cling to House Belois despite knowing they lie to her and continue to keep secrets. As a person who is naturally trusting of others, it's hard for her to be wary of others unless they betray her first. TECHNICALLY, House Belois hasn't harmed her/betrayed her yet, so all seemed good... Lari knows that everyone has a secret or two they wish to hide, like her own secret of regression Another thing that gets a lot of focus, is that Lari's personal wish of "saving House Belois from death" is not her true wish; over time, it changes to "save Rupert becoming a tyrant/ensure Rupert is happy". Over and over, especially after non-productive conversations with Lehan/the Count, Lari wonders why the heck she regressed. No matter how much she tried to convince them, House Belois refused to change. But that's the point - the reason why she regressed, and the reason why she thought she regressed were different. She didn't regress to save House Belois. That's why they were an insurmountable obstacle, where she could never get to them. Because they were not the ones in need of help from her regression. It's been described over and over, from multiple characters, that House Belois is extremely old fashioned, and it's true of trash dad, and by extension, Lehan. They are unyielding to their core beliefs, and they will die for their beliefs. Of course, Lari knew this about her own family, but she felt that maybe, because it's her, she can change something ---- nope, not at all. She witnessed them dying because of that stubbornness in TL1, and at this rate, if she does nothing, they'll suffer the same fate in TL2.

So despite her telling them about her regression, and was very hurt when they didn't believe her and ignored her warnings, she gave up on trying to change them by chapter 68. She will do her own thing to save them, because that was her only wish when she regresed. It became a duty for her she had to fulfill. She remembered happy memories of TL1, and she wanted to repay it back to them, even if that's not the case in TL2. But as Elcair-nim says, change is hard. Even if a person wants to change a decision they've made, it's really really difficult. For Lari, who believed wholeheartedly that her regression was to save her family, it's a pathetic, cruel joke to realize when in fact, she made the wrong decision/wish. Because in the story, besides Lari, there's one other person who changed so much - Rupert. Lari didn't realize it, but her existence saved Rupert from the moment they met. Without her, he would have continued to be controlled by Eva/Tory, and was on the fast track to being a hated, lonely tyrant. But with Lari around being a positive influence, he remained a relatively nice, reasonable guy. Still cranky and hot-headed, but reasonable. The irony is that Lari didn't realize that Rupert had already changed, while she was off to the side worrying when he'll change and flip that switch. But he had already changed long ago.

Rupert is the one who needed Lari's existence the most in the series. It's very likely that in TL1 he lived his entire life lonely, hated, alone, murdering all his enemies but also earning the public's hatred. After his closest person, Tory died, he had literally no one else beside him. It was a very pathetic and lonely way to live, to not ever feel happiness or warmth. If anything, Rupert never tasted basic human warmth or happiness until chapter 59, when he was 15. He was already starting to find life a bit fun when she came to the palace, but his happiness really started after Lari proved to him she wanted to stay out of her own accord, wanted to be his ally, and wanted to stay beside him. When they separated, he realized how much he depended on her. His source of happiness was gone, and he had issues coping for a while without her. Because he cherished Lari so much, and wished for HER happiness, he offered everything he had: his rich/power, but the thing that Lari appreciated the most: was her freedom. As a lady in waiting, she was allowed to come and go whenever she pleased, and when they got along better, she was able to speak her mind and bicker with him more. The more comfortable they became with each other, the more she voiced her thoughts and opinions, and Rupert really valued her thoughts. He hated when others, including Trash dad looked down on her and didn't listen to her, so he made sure to let her voice be heard everytime.

So by regressing and ensuring Rupert's happiness, that in turn, is the ONLY way for Lari to achieve HER happiness as well.

Because for the first time in both lives, Lari is finally happy, and that's by being around Rupert. The times they laughed and ran around in the forest of the detached palace, The times they bickered and argued about little things. When she would share nice things with him and he looked at her, not quite understanding but nodding, When they go shopping together, when they have conversations about anything because they spent so much time together. So during the climatic event, after House Belois' betrayal smacks her in the face, she fulfills her "duty" as a daughter to protect them by getting rid of the variable that would instigate any war - herself. When she recovers from her injuries, she had already decided to cut off House Belois, especially trash dad. He will never change. He's a lost cause. She burns the fir-tree family crest she has. She denounced her noble title of being part of a Count's family, and is now just an aristocrat without a title (Sort of like Amelia Belois). She was fed up by them, and fed up with their treatment of her. It's over. But Rupert was different. She couldn't ever forget him.... and she just hoped he would find his own happiness soon, because he deserves to be happy :(

I might just be going crazy, but your post about Jeremy and Norra getting way more muscle at the end of season 2 makes me think that they weren’t that muscled in the epilogue chapters. Like, the wedding chapters specifically, to me Jeremy looks a bit slimmer, more like he did at the start of season 2. Maybe it’s because Norra and Jeremy spar together daily in TL2? Shuri herself noted that Jeremy easily beat all the other knights, both his age and older, and only found his match in Norra. But for TL1 Norra I can easily imagine it’s more him not taking super good care of himself since he’s depressed and borderline suicidal while in Striefe. What do you think?

You're not the only who noticed that! I think you're right on the money!

I don't have much to add, so I'll be expanding on your conclusions below! Potential Spoilers under the cut!

First off, a specific scene that never fails to catch my attention is the Swordsmanship Tournament. They just look so different between the two timelines. We could settle for calling it poor design and planning, but that's no fun, so let's explore the other avenues.

Based on their size and outfits, it almost seems as if the Founder's Festival took place far earlier than it did in TL2. In T1, they still look like pre-teens. I mean, their broadswords are actually larger than they are. The only anomaly that suggests otherwise being Jeremy's apprenticeship outfit.

Meanwhile, in the second timeline, they're practically adults whether you look at it in terms of proportions, musculature, or the outfits.

We know that Jeremy became an apprentice sometime during the 3 year timeskip and that the Founder's Festival takes place every 4 years. So maybe their duel took place 4 years earlier in TL1 than it did in TL2...

IMO it's pretty possible that Jeremy was apprentice'd 1 year earlier in the 1st timeline. Without the events of The Trial taking place in TL1, I don't think it's outlandish to say that Jeremy got a head start in his knight's career.

But wouldn't this make Jeremy more muscular in the 1st timeline? Some might think so, but I'm lead to think otherwise.

Like you mentioned, Jeremy and Nora sparred every day together in TL2. Jeremy and Nora are both considered highly skilled individuals who could probably only rival one another. We see this in Jeremy's brief memories of his knight's training. He's usually depicted being the top of his class, easily winning spars with little to no effort.

It's plausible that Jeremy's standards were lowered in the 1st timeline, explaining his slimmer stature in The End of a Fairytale epilogue chapters. See how his frame seems to resemble Theo, who barely held a sword in both timelines.

Nora was also thinner in TL1. During his monologue in TL2's tournament, he says

"Unlike everyone else, I didn't have a dream to fight for... I didn't have any passion or drive to meet other's expectations or to be acknowledged by them. I didn't swing my sword with any of that in mind. I just swung it at anything that came my way, disinterested and uninspired, I was ready to let go of it... In other words... that was how I felt about my very existence."

Throughout the series, Nora has expressed his lack of passion for life. We often see moments of him just... sitting or lying down in his free time. It isn't until he befriends the Neuschwansteins that he finally finds purpose in life.

In TL1, he never has this revelation... and we can probably assume that he spent most of his time in TL1 continuing to sit around in silence. It's a pretty heartbreaking conclusion, but it totally makes sense considering the path TL1 Jeremy and Nora ended up taking.

I do think Orka's art developing had some hand in the change, but a huge part of it also seems very intentional. Hopefully Orka blesses us with more TL1 scenes in Season 3 so we can expand on the timeline!

inspired by the tl2!mc talk, I wanna mention that I somehow, managed to get through step 1 and 2 on indifferent. I will never do that shit again because every single second hurt, with how much colder the whole experience was. But I also have not been the same ever since and I've been thinking about how bad, sad and guilty mc would feel for being indifferent about Cove for too long.

So imagine tl1!mc is the one that used to be indifferent which made Cove the one that got away, and prayed so hard for time to be rewind that they wake up the next second back in their 8 year old self and this time they will be the true friend and support Cove needed all this time

i’ve been really insecure about my work lately , and i’ve never been able to read original novels or other fics without feeling incredibly envious of others’ talent , and it has sowed a lot of discontent inside of me . so i stopped consuming others’ work for a bit , but that just left me uninspired and in an echo chamber of my own writing without any improvement , so it became hyper-stylized and odd to read , especially months later . i don’t even know what i was trying to accomplish at some points ?? it’s all very odd and tryhard and makes me cringe .

so , right now , my goal is to read more published work lol . i’m reading my childhood favorite “daughter of smoke and bone” right now , and it’s even better than i remember . highly recommend

Mais um mes focado em treinar para o triathlon e sem muito alem disso. Cheguei a 13km na corrida e tenho nadado com mais frequencia (embora nao tanta quanto eu deveria) no mar aberto.

O verao esta definitivamente chegando mas com os treinos sinto que nao temos aproveitado tanto assim, mas acho que ainda tem bastante tempo pra isso ne?

Ainda assim temos ido jantar fora, no cinema e logo viajamos entao tambem sinto que temos que relaxar antes das maratonas comecarem.

O clube do livro esse mes eh o Island of Sea Women e ontem fui com as meninas no Friends Experience. Tambem fomos ver twilight, IF e logo devemos ir ver Inside Out 2.

Quarta feira o pessoal do trabalho vem comer churrasco aqui em casa, recentemente fomos jantar Hot Pot para comemorar a promocao do Juan e tambem andamos de Kayak pelo rio.

Talvez mes que vem eu escreva que virei lider da equipe de components agora que a Deidra saiu, mas ainda aguardando a decisao do meu gerente. O Greg tambem saiu da equipe e a Eleanor foi promovida para TL2.

Acho que isso resume o ultimo mes.

Novel Detai: Rupert DID want to kill Lari in TL2

That sounds so bad, but hear me out: So while her name WAS on the hit list in Ch 45 as ppl to eliminate (he decided early on he wouldnt), and when he pointed the gun to her in Ch 32 (he only intended to scare her; that worked because he gained +10 hatred and fear from Lari), after she tried to die, he WAS upset and emotional enough that he DID consider killing her/getting rid of her because he hated her that much.

During those days when she was unconscious, trapped in her dreams, Rupert was at the end of his wits. It was so bad to the point where he was stuck in the room, because he was so scared the moment he left would be the moment she died alone… He even had thoughts of turning her into an alchemical doll if he WERE to die, but he could never go through it, because he knew, that if he were to do so, she would never laugh and smile at him again, she wouldn’t ever comment on how pretty wildflowers were. He was shocked at how he could see her life like that, she was the only one whom he felt he had to FORCE her to stay alive…. But… that’s not what she wanted, so good thing he didn’t have to. While she was asleep, he felt so upset, angry and helpless, that he even thought about killing her first because she’s the one who made him this emotional. If he didn’t know her, he wouldn’t have learned emotions, and he wouldn’t have felt this horrendous. He HATED how he was so easily was wrapped around her finger that while she was unconscious, his own time was stopped. He’s miserable, couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t perform his duties as the new Emperor. He wanted to kill her for manipulating his feelings like that, pretending to be so innocently lovely, but had the capacity to try to kill herself. She’s the ONLY ONE who said that she would remain by his side, who supported him endlessly and cared for him, but she chose to die?? How incredibly selfish?? He trusted her so much, and told her how important she was to him, yet she didnt return those sentiments?? For the first time ever, he felt as though he was shoved from a warm place (being with her) to being naked out in the cold, alone, lost (without her). It’s not to be taken lightly how he felt during the separation - his heart was literally shattered and it took a while to figure out how to cope. So that’s how Rupert felt during the peak of his emotional turmoil when Lari tried to die - he hated her so much he wanted to kill and get rid of her, but ultimately, no matter the thought process, he always chose to stay close and protect her ;__;

from what i can glean from it, its that cove is having dreams of a previous life with the mc maggie who was close with him and they fell in love, but in his current life his neighbor is an mc named gin who is indifferent to cove. cove longs to be close with gin like he was with maggie, and is plagued by the dreams he keeps having of her only for him to wake up and it just be a dream. and i think he ends up projecting some of his lingering feelings for her on gin, even though they arent the same person and it causes more of a rift between them 🥺

its giving me brainrot for the timeline au thing because i hadnt considered cove being affected by the reset timeline too and was focusing on tl1!mc and tl2!mc and im aough now the layers...they are increasing - 🕑

I think the difference between gin and Maggie, as obvious from 4/7, where Maggie is so much more chatty and bubbly

I get the idea gin is more shy in comparison, so cove's behavior then and now pushed them bc gin didn't know how to deal w him (pretty sure that was said in the comic as well)

man I read so many webtoons like this, one I think of is Cierra and Leveling Up My Husband To The Max. where their husband's were abusive in the last life bc of certain events, but after preventing it/doing different things, they're sweet and in love

but the FL are traumatized by the last life n behave weird at times, like in Leveling Up My Husband., the FL is pregnant now and is behaving weird, just for example.

I just imaged they didn't rmbr the last life/reset, so when mc!2 meet cove after being betrayed by mc!1, they click sm better and easier than 1 bc imagine they've had a rocky relationship

not bad enough that everyone thought they were incompatible or need to press the brakes, but there are a couple red flags. especially if mc!1 dated baxter first.

but w what u just said.... imagine time reset to before the wedding (realizing thats just like in Leveling Up My Husband, omg) n cove tries to get mc to stay but ofc it's too late and he's totally fucked up

but then he meets mc!2 and they click, are happy and living it up now

cove says smth like "it feels like I've known you forever..."

and mc is like "haha abt that...." n mentions their last life

after a bit cove starts thinking bc, he rmbrs things before the reset so why doesn't he rmbr life w mc!2? then he recalls how when he was younger, from say 11 to 14 (very short period n very few dreams) he had some very short and foggy dreams abt someone from when he when he was 8 and a few shaky dreams of mc!2 from your teenage years together, but mc!2's features/face are foggy or blocked out in some dreams....
