Blog Update: If having four exams within one week wasn't enough to kill me this February, the IkeGen end of service announcement was the final blow :(

Ikemen Genjiden is my all-time favorite mobile otome game and I'm absolutely heartbroken that it's getting discontinued later this year. This blog was one of the biggest passion projects I've ever started because of how much I fell in love with the game back in 2022, and so I have every intention of continuing to post IkeGen translations on here. Unfortunately, I'm currently doing an undergraduate degree in engineering, and I haven't had even a fraction of the free time that I used to have for games and writing a couple of years ago when I was only working part-time. I can't guarantee regular or frequent updates or give any sort of timeline for when I finish routes (not that I've ever been able to, lol), but I do want to try to finish the routes that I've begun working on already and take on some more routes in the future.

Besides all of that, I also wanted to thank everybody who's read my posts on this blog!! I hope that my amateur translations can do even a little bit of justice to the amazing story and characters of IkeGen, as well as to an era of Japanese history and folklore that I'm very passionate about, and I'm so honored that I get to share them with other people who love the game too ❤️

Permanent Hiatus

Jag: Hey. It’s been a while, huh?

So, I’m just gonna get right to the point. I’m not sure if I’m ever gonna take this blog off of hiatus.

As much fun as I’ve had with it in the past, it was never very popular, and I really only had a super active “fanbase” earlier on. I can’t draw for shit, and while I’m rather proud of my writing skills, it seems walls of text don’t draw in readers. What a shock.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure the only people who are even gonna see this, let alone read it, are gonna be mutuals. I’m fine with that.

Most of my motivation is kinda gone, especially cause I see new pokeblogs all of the time with easily double to triple the amount of followers I’ve managed to gain over the course of a year, half of which don’t make it a month before failing. And they actually have art. The blogs that actually last as long as mine has so far have easily hundreds more followers than I do, and they update sparsely in most cases. I updated five times a week.

Really, it kinda makes me wonder who I was doing the story for in the first place. I certainly don’t feel like I was really impressing very many people. It was kinda a lot of effort for very little to no reward, to be honest.

Heck, I never even got to really use the rp blog. Bit of a shame really.

So, simply put, unless I truly get inspired to do this blog again, or at least a few (non-mutual) active followers appear out of the blue, I’m probably not gonna be posting anything else on this blog for a very, very long time. If ever.

I suppose this would be Dosgrim, signing out.

TL:DR: I’m tired, have no motivation to continue for the foreseeable future, and will not be coming back unless I either get inspired or I figure out how to get a BUNCH of active followers.
