(A One shot Fanfic of team Hooligan based on the aftermath of superstars, Spoilers ahead! Read under the cut at your own risk!)

Team hooligan's base of operations was inside an entire mountain ya know! Needing a special code to open a secret door, the base was cozy and made sure each of it's members were comfortable, Bark's room was cold and felt like the north pole inside (sweater recommended), beans room always smelled of gunpowder and fire, he even had an explosive testing room inside to try out new bombs he makes, so that explains that. And fangs room which seems to be the only 'normal' one of the group, but it definitely smelled like lavander..and gold, who knows how much money he hides in there.

Fang went on a solo mission a few days ago for doctor Eggman, despite bark's bad feeling the Jerboa went to go do the job anyway because of the high pay that was promised, the duo decided to sit this mission out and just relax, plus bean didn't want to miss out on playing Mario wonder today! And that's exactly what he was doing, sitting on the living room couch and playing the game, his eyes sparkling with excitement as bark walks into the room with a cup of coffee. He sits down in the couch and watches bean play, thinking of grabbing a controller later to join in eventually.

....Bark looks at his phone a bit concerned however, Fang hasn't gotten back to him since his last message which was sent last night. It said he had one last idea he could use to maybe change the tides against team sonic and their new lizard pest of an ally. But bark ask if he was certain it would work..he didn't get a reply..so he sighs as there still wasn't an update. "Oh you know he's fine!" Bean assure his best buddy, Not turning away from the game. "You know team sonic! They find some way around it but they don't kill him ya know! They too good for that, or else Eggman would've kicked the bucket already!" The duck waves a hand, bark nods agreeing..bean's right, if anything, fang would just have a couple of bruises but then get right back up on his feet In the morning. But still, the feeling in his gut just kept bothering him..what was so different about this mission from the other times they went against sonic and his friends that made it so.. different..

His thought process was cut short as the duo heard the garage door open and close, bean pausing his game and jumping up. "See! That must be him! The mission is done, an we gonna get pizza! Ya want pineapple?" He jokes as bark chuckles, playfully pushing the duck as he gets up to go open the door..but it opens already by Fang, the duo stare at his condition in disbelief...Fang was covered in ash, the tip of his tail still on fire, the queen was completely busted, also covered in ash with springs and bolts falling off her, the last of her strength used to get fang home. So she collapses on the floor and her tire goes flat, tied up to the queen via a net was a giant Mech Head of Fang, also covered in ash and busted to a similar condition of the queen, The room is just silent for a moment.

"uh...man is it BBQ season! We can definitely use that flame to bust a grill right!" Bean jokes, but fang's expression definitely shows he doesn't want to hear it.. actually, he didn't even have the motivation to grouch at bean for such a terrible joke...he just...walks past the duo, his tail dragging across the floor. "Don't talk to me.." is all he says as he goes to his room and closes the door behind him. They both look at each other with a worried expression, Bark knew something would definitely go wrong...he'd go to take a look at the giant Robot Head, despite it's condition it looked like it was expertly made! Using some Eggman tech, it seems it was a state of the art mech! It must take a lot of hits before it could go crashing down. "Wow it really looks like him!" Bean peeks over his shoulder, "Though the brown circle on its head bugs me, should've made an actual hat lol" the child taps it a bit, Bark nods...no he gets it, Fang actually really tired his hardest this mission, he pulled all the stops, he learned from his own mistakes, and he didn't run away...but despite it all he Still failed. He looks a bit sorrowful, sure he doesn't like it when he works for Eggman, the jobs aren't worth it for the money. But the fact that fang really went all out on this mission, he gets why he's so upset at such a big loss.

"so uh..what we do, I bet your brain is already cooking up a plan!" Bean would hop on the busted queen as bark nods, putting a paw on his chin, they shouldn't go talk to him directly...he's a man that shows emotion through action rather than words. And bugging him would just piss him off more, he knows this. They should give him some space, but it still do something to get his spirits up, that's when bark looks at the queen, it's fang's pride and joy..if they can repair it, it'll sure make him satisfied to at least talk about what happened in Northstar island, Bark snaps his fingers and points ta the queen.

"hm? Fix up the queen? I don't see why not! I'm not a mechanic expert butttttt, I'm sure she comes with an instruction manual!" Bean hops down as he goes to the garage to look for one, Bark nods as he seperated the net from the queen and pushes her to the center of the room, he knows how to drive the queen but not how to repair it..he's not an expert at that kind of thing, but it's worth a shot.

For the next hour or so, bean and bark try to put the queen back together. Bean couldn't find an instruction manual unfortunately, so they'll just have to wing it! Plus they saw fang fix it plenty of times how hard can it be?...hard... extremely hard, every button on her did something and the duo accidentally activated it each one. They summoned the spring and she'd bounce around everywhere, bean getting squished and shaped into an accordion to try and stop it. The drill, which made a hole in the floor and the two panicked trying to pull her out! The newly added missiles which fired at the wall and made yet another hole! The orb shields, which were a new addition, panicked the duo as it circle around the queen and started knocking things over. Especially bean's Nintendo switch dock which he quickly caught. "Phew! Safe!" Then the television fell on top of him, Bark had to put it back in place and help bean up.

Eventually, Fang finally exits his room, with a towel around his neck and shoulders. He got all the ash off him thanks to a nice shower..but then stares at the duo making a mess of the living room as they pumped the queens tire with too much air and now she's tilted downwards, They both turn to fang and nervously smile. "L-look we can explain! We thought fixing your bike would cheer you up but ah...we.. aren't experts at this." Bean tried to explain, as the queens tire suddenly pops and the air comes out, making her fly around the room before hitting the wall and falling in the floor...the duo look at fang worriedly.

At first, he's silently staring...but then he starts to Snicker, then chuckle...till he finally burst out laughing, slapping his knee! "NYAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU BOTH COULDN'T FIX A BUCKET OF BOLTS EVEN IF YOU TRIED!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!" He'd burst laughing! The two have a sigh of relief, at least he's smiling! "Hey! I'm a bomb maker not a repair man!" Bean giggles as he puts his hands behind his head, Bark nods agreeing, as fang walks over to the queen and positions her to stand up again. "Look how about this, I'll reach you all everything there is to know about to queen, so if I'm not around, ya won't fuck up the next time you try to repair her!" They both nod as they walk over. "Oki Doki! You're the boss!" Bean salutes as bark gives a thumbs up. Fang gives a slight smile.."thanks..." He mutters, bark's eyes sparkle but fang now changes back to the subject at hand. "Now then! First off ya need to know about all her gadgets.."

but how IS kirby right back at ya reflected in DS era kirby lore

Just as the original post stipulates, I will be answering this without looking at sources.

Excellent question! You see, the kirby anime is basically never brought up in the games. Ever.

Except for Two Games! These games are the kirby ds original titles, Kirby Squeak Squad and Kirby Mass Attack!

In Squeak Squad, Castle Dedede very notably uses its crooked anime design, and is the only kirby game to do so! Though it borrows no plot from the anime, it's aesthetically cohesive with it.

Mass Attack lays it on thicker. One of its sub games, Kirby Quest, is basically one giant anime reference. It features anime exclusive enemies (such as the fitness guy whose name I forgot), and during its Dedede bossfight, Dedede's attack has him rush at the Kirbies together with his underlings... including Escargoon! This is Escargoon's only appearance in All Of Kirby Gaming.

Even the appearance of Galaxia as a hidden boss could be construed as an anime reference, since MK's sword was relatively unimportant before, and has only been known as Galaxia after the anime.

This whole shebang is easy to explain with the Kirby DS era just coinciding with the anime. At that time, the Wii also had the Kirby Channel, which featured episodes of Right Back At Ya for free. I used to watch them at my neighbour's house sometimes.

So, because the anime may have been kids' first experience with Kirby, the Kirby games of that time were made to resemble the anime a tad more than the others to make the experience smoother, since the anime and the games aren't very much alike at all.

Kinda notable that the progression is like, Nightmare in Dreamland for gameboy advance and then Squeak Squad, since Nightmare is the main antagonist of Right Back At Ya. Adds to the vibe that this was planned for, ykno?

Kirby Mass Attack has the best subgames in the entire series btw. One of em is just pinball and i'd play it for hours. One of them is a shmup. Kibry Quest is a banger and I spent so much time getting it all perfect to unlock Galaxia. I love Mass Attack.

Did you know: Because of Kirby Mass Attack, Daroach is the character with the most speaking lines in all of Kirby? Since he gives hints for finding the game's medal collectibles, he has unique dialogue pointing to every single one.
