you can buy an OBD reader for $50 you dont need to go to a shop for it and also if youre just clearing codes you can disconnect the battery (the low voltage battery if youre driving a hybrid/EV) and the code should go away

#my parents were all like 'no we dont need an obd reader we can just go to the mechanic'#til my dads car ran out of gas and wouldn't start even after we put gas in it and i was like can we just get a code scanner ill look at it #and my mom was like no we'll just wait for the mechanic #ended up being a 4 day wait and at least $60 to clear the code #i couldve done that myself!!!!!! at which point my dad just bought an obd reader
