Warren's birthday is coming up soon and he will be, in the year of two thousand and nineteen, three years old.
Since I'm a weirdo who likes to celebrate the birthdays of my characters (always have always will) I was thinking about doing some inspired drabbles or "character studies" or whatever.
Send me a word (e.g. "blue" or "December" or "yawning" etc.)—one (1) word per ask, please, but you can send as many as the ask limit will allow—and I'll write something short and in-canon for it, the first thing I think about when I see it, and I'll post them all on June 1st, kicking off with another "study" of my own that I'd written just for this occasion!
Like...I didn't just procrastinate finishing a piece and never come back to it until this convenient moment, I'd never do that!! This was ALL meticulously planned.
P.S. Don't think I won't send myself asks if I don't get any, I don't know the meaning of the word "pride" lmao
#wlc birthday asks#will be my tag for this!#Don rambles#my son's birthday is exactly a week before his and i did not plan that#though it's cool to see the horoscopal parallels#my gemini babies lol

How Isa Became a Seeker of Darkness
So, I obviously think the idea that Isa willingly became a Seeker of Darkness is ludicrous. Terra became a Seeker of Darkness by having his rage exploited. Riku (Replica) became a Seeker of Darkness by having his jealousy exploited. I thought it would be interesting to speculate more in-depth on what emotional weakness Xehanort exploited to get Isa to fall to darkness.
Secret Ansem Report 2
I have made a grave mistake. My study of the "darkness of the heart" began with a simple psychological test and quickly snowballed. Spurred on by my youngest apprentice, Ienzo, I constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of my castle.
Unbeknownst to me, my six apprentices then began collecting a large number of subjects on which to perform dangerous experiments into the "darkness of the heart." As soon as I found out, I called my apprentices together and ordered them not only to cease their studies, but to destroy the results of their research thus far.
Upon his advice, I decided to review the data obtained at my basement lab. That is when I discovered the "Ansem's Reports." Though they bore my name, the only one I had written was number 0. Apparently he had gone on to pen numbers 1 through 8 himself. Yes — the first subject in my foolish experiments.
Zexion has a weapon called “Taboo Papers” which is part of Wild Gear. This may be a reference to the reports that Ansem the Wise discovered before he realized the dangerous experiments his apprentices were conducting without his knowledge. Saïx’s Wild Gear weapon is called “Crescent” and it is shaped an awful lot like the astrological symbol for Black Moon Lilith. This is the reason why I think both of these weapons are referring to the experiments on darkness.
The Tower: When the Tower card appears in a Tarot reading, expect the unexpected – massive change, upheaval, destruction and chaos. It may be the loss of a loved one or any event that shakes you to your core, affecting you spiritually, mentally and physically. There’s no escaping it.
Wild Gear is “The Tower” in Luxord’s deck, and it is very appropriate for the concept of Black Moon Lilith.
The Two of Pentacles: This suit represents something supportive that is available to you. The figure-eight image is a symbol of immortality and eternity. The card is a sign that you have to believe in yourself even if you aren't feeling confident.
“The Tower” is shaped like the Two of Pentacles.
Axel's weapons have a lot of alchemy symbolism. Saïx is a moon-based character, and his weapons are heavily based on astrology. One weapon is named “Astrologia” and another is named “Horoscope,” and they both incorporate astrological symbols into the design. Both of those weapons hint that Isa is associated with the zodiac sign Cancer (ruled by the Moon). The weapon named “Twilight” hints that he is also associated with the zodiac sign Pisces (ruled by Neptune). These two water zodiac signs are the most emotional ones---the polar opposite of Saïx, who shows almost no human emotion. There’s also a weapon shaped like the symbol for the asteroid Vesta, known as “The Guardian of the Sacred Flame”. Astrologically, Vesta defines how you see your mission and truth in life and the world.
Black Moon Lilith is the geometric point in the sky that marks the furthest point of the Moon’s orbit around the earth, the apogee. It’s the mathematical point that’s exactly in between the Earth and the Moon–essentially, empty space. It is a dark void, which stays approximately nine months in each zodiac sign.
In an astrology chart, Black Moon Lilith represents a person’s primitive impulses and behavior in their rawest form. Psychologically, it is a point that represents how we react to emptiness and isolation. It brings up deep and primal issues like repressed feelings of rejection, rage, and the refusal to give in.
One of KH3's most important themes is "facing your fears". Knowing where Black Moon Lilith is located in a birth chart can reveal information related to the shadow self. It reveals our deepest fears and how we project those fears onto others.
Black Moon Lilith in Cancer
The Black Moon Lilith in Cancer reflects a deep fear of abandonment. Cancers are the nurturers in society, but are prone to feelings of loneliness and lack of support. Lilith in Cancer brings up issues around dependency and co-dependency and detests people that come across as needy or clingy; this is a part of themselves that they dislike and therefore project these issues onto others.
In Cancer, the shadow is caused by the fear of abandonment and it manifests as intense separation anxiety. I think the writers were inspired by this idea with the plot for Abrabah in 358/2 Days. Aladdin was reluctant to rely on his best friend Genie even though he really needed help, and the novel hinted that there was a parallel to Axel's past with his best friend.
Aladdin: See, Genie and Carpet took off to see the world. It's what Genie always wanted, so I wished him the best and all, but...
Goofy: You miss him.
Sora: Man, things must be REALLY quiet with Genie gone.
This theme was continued in KH2, where Aladdin really missed Genie, who had gone away. He felt lonely. Saïx appears to be very ashamed of this aspect of his human self and projects this “weakness” onto others, like Roxas. He also has mixed feelings towards Axel due to this issue.
“Bet you don’t know why the sun sets red. You see, light is made up of lots of colors. And out of all those colors, red is the one that travels the farthest.”
Something interesting is that the Cancer zodiac sign (ruled by the Moon) begins on the day of the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year. Day 255 is called "The Longest Day" and it's when Axel tells Roxas about the red sunset. Black Moon Lilith is the furthest point of the Moon’s orbit from the Earth. It represents total darkness---an empty void. I think it's cool how the Kingdom Hearts writers incorporated astrological concepts into the story like this. But how does all of this relate to the plot?
Secret Report 4: Experiments of the Heart – Notes on Subject X, Excerpt 2
Secret Report 4 is obtained after clearing Battlegate 4 at Toy Box: Galaxy Toys / Kid Corral.
My pilot studies used a handful of subjects, but none possessed the fortitude to endure them. Ultimately, all suffered mental collapse. I knew it would be a heavy blow to lose a subject as unique as she. Upon discovering the tests I've been conducting, my master demanded that I cease my work immediately and destroy what research I have compiled. Worse still, he ordered the release of my remaining subjects. She is gone. Where is Subject X now? Has "wise" Master Ansem hidden her away? —Xehanort
In KH3, one of the reports on Subject X was found in the Kid Corral. This is also the world where Young Xehanort learned that he can create vessels by putting a heart into an empty puppet. Young Xehanort split the world in two, and separated Andy’s Toys, in order to test the strength of their bond.
Young Xehanort: In this world toys have hearts. And those hearts come from a powerful bond. So what happens when those bonds are stretched to their limit? When they are worlds apart, can cloth and plastic hold on to their hearts? All I needed was a wedge to widen the divide---someone like you to fill them with distrust and doubt. And that chasm you created can be filled with a vast darkness.
Young Xehanort took Buzz through a portal in the Kid Korral, then revealed that the darkness in him was born when he was separated from Andy. This loneliness created a chasm that Xehanort was able to fill with darkness. Sora and Woody dispelled the darkness of his isolation by surrounding him with the light of their friendship.
“Well, I think you can be inseparable, even if you’re apart. It’s like, if you feel really close to each other. Like best friends.”
I wonder if Young Xehanort did something similar with Lea and Isa using the Datascape, which is itself another world. And since Lea and Isa’s connection was so strong, Isa’s heart didn’t collapse and he became the unique Subject X, the most prospective candidate for becoming a vessel for the X-Blade. Saïx seems to have huge issues with being alone. He said there was no meaning in fighting alone and got really upset when Sora said that he wasn’t alone. Lea and Isa lost their hearts right outside of the Datascape. It looked kinda similar to when Axel brought Xion back and collapsed afterwards. That was the last time he saw her. Maybe Lea went inside the Datascape to retrieve Isa, who was put in there as part of the experiment.
“You’re letting yourself get too attached to them.”
“Right, sir, of course, sir.” Saïx spun on his heels.
That was all he wanted to say to me?
But just as Saïx started walking away, he caught a barely audible murmur—
“You’ve changed.”
He listened to Saïx’s receding footsteps, and his gaze dropped to his own feet.
“You sure I’m the one who changed?” he said under his breath.
There's also various hints in the story that Isa was very clingy towards Lea. Since he was described as a quiet boy who only came out of his shell for Lea, this is a very believable personality trait. It seemed like this was supposed to be an important aspect of Isa’s character and would explain some of Saïx's warped personality traits. I also like that we can fight Anti-Saïx during the fight where Roxas is trying to leave the organization. Isa's fear of abandonment was probably the weakness that was exploited by the apprentices. Axel remarks that Saïx has changed several times in 358/2 Days. And a few of those times, it seemed related to the clingy and needy aspect of his personality. One instance is when he said Axel was getting too attached to Roxas and Xion. And in the manga, they reinforced this idea by hinting that Isa became easily attached, like he did with Pluto.
“I thought I told you not to get too involved.” Saïx swung his chair, turning his back on Axel. Axel could feel nothing but a will of rejection from that back.
“Just look at it. I won’t say any more than that.”
For Saïx to say that, he probably doesn’t intend to tell me any more.
Axel stared at Saïx’s back.
The two of us have definitely changed since those times.
“…I wonder which of us it was that changed,” muttered Axel, and Saïx’s shoulders trembled for just a second. Without waiting for an answer, Axel left the room.
Another instance is when Axel was trying to get Saïx to open up to him by putting his hand on his shoulder. Then Saïx coldly brushed his hand off and refused to tell him anything. This cold rejection made him think how much things had changed between them.
Within one of them, Terra, I sensed something. The boy, though well-intentioned, seeks power single-mindedly. And that kind of hunger is a seedbed for darkness. I had found my vessel.
Black Moon Lilith is all about emptiness, incompleteness, being estranged, and feeling like you are lacking something or someone important.
“If your best friend goes away, you’re sad, and if you get to be with them, you’re happy,” Naminé added. “Isn’t that how it is, Axel?”
“…That’s about the size of it.” Axel nodded and sat down on the remaining empty sofa, staring at the sea-salt ice cream he held.
Maybe this is why Isa was viewed as a better candidate for a vessel than Lea. Xehanort may have found him a better seedbed for darkness due to his emotional dependence on Lea and his vulnerability. Master Xehanort turned Terra into a Seeker of Darkness by exploiting his desire for power. I think Isa's darkness was fueled by loneliness. The same feeling Axel suffered from for the entire story, causing him to chase after Roxas like a lost puppy.
Sora: Your “loneliness” only made Buzz and Woody’s connection stronger.
Since they both shared the same pain, I think it would have made their connection stronger in the end.

I’m not gonna miss The Gifted, mostly because I only watched like two episodes of it, but there’s a specific thing about that show that both really amused me and made me cranky. The original character they made for it, Marco Diaz. Aka Eclipse.
See, it was amusing to me, because when I was like...fifteen and at the absolute height of my X-Men fan phase, I did the whole ‘make your own team of X-Men OCs’ thing. And because I’m me, I went really into their powers and backstories and worldbuilding and blah blah blah, I can’t do anything small. I’m a narrative size queen. Look, its a thing, and its me.
But anyway, they were all pretty good IMO, and I ended up moving them to various original projects in later years. There was Imago, Joy Ride, Rumor, Deliverance, Horoscope, Crossfire, Desperado, Hoax....and Eclipse.
The hilarious thing to me is that the character I came up with at fifteen, called Eclipse....was also named Marco (Marco Becerra), which was a combination of the first and last names of two of my best friends at the time (Look I have always sucked at real names and steal from my friends at every possible opportunity, this is long established canon).
And so my character Eclipse was also latine, though he was from Brazil, because my version was a cousin of Sunspot’s....and thus, he had powers that were kinda like Sunspot’s....basically he absorbed photons from the air around him, creating darkness in his vicinity, and then when he absorbed enough light energy he would start to glow until he released the excess energy as bursts of light/light attacks, that were admittedly more like Dazzler’s power signatures than anything relating to Sunspot’s. Look, I was fifteen, my power physics were not fully honed yet.
Anyway, this has always been kinda funny to me, not just because The Gifted’s Eclipse was also latine and named Marco, but because his powers were also to absorb solar energy and release it as light attacks/lasers....and the specifically funny part is the creators of the show in interviews specified that they modeled the character partially off Sunspot. (Even though ultimately, the way Marco’s powers worked in the show were nothing like Berto’s...and ironically, more akin to Dazzler’s).
So, it was just a series of commonalities that always just amused me because of the synchronicity - and no, lol, I never for a second thought someone had ‘stolen’ my character even though I’ve literally been friends with various people who have worked for Marvel over the years, like...its just one of those parallel evolution things. Eclipse is a pretty logical name for any character with light powers, and trust me, when you’re trying to come up with names for superheroes that haven’t been used a million times before, that one in particular jumps to the top of the list because the only high profile one close to it is actually Eclipso.
And also, like....its not hard to see how they could jump to Point B after using Sunspot’s powers and power signature as a Point A inspiration point, since....I mean its the same train of thought I followed when I was fifteen. So sometimes things just develop along similar lines purely because two different people were inspired by the same initial thought....though again, its a funny coincidence to me that both resulting Eclipses ended up being more like Ali than Berto. It just happens that way.
But anyway, so the series of coincidences made me laugh in that ‘ugh that coulda been me, but also that’s unrealistic because RIP to the Gifted’s creators, but I woulda made it good’ kinda way. (Ahhh yes, a lack of ego has never been among my Canon Flaws).
But then the part that made me cranky was the missed opportunities because from the second I heard about the character and his power description and then watched the pilot, I was just like uggggh you dumbasses, where’s the darkness, why isn’t he making shadows when he soaks up the light around him, that’s the BEST PART OF THE POWER, that’s what makes it unique, and its visually appealing, and technically he should be able to do that based off the very description you cited for his powers so why would you leave that out its so easy to do with special effects and could look so cool ughhhhh you’re so bad at this, also why bother naming him Eclipse if his powers never have a darkening effect that’s what an Eclipse DOES you colossal numbskulls.
Because I am, above all things, a Judgmental Cranky Asshole.
But anyway, random story for the day and I’m not even really sure what prompted it. I literally forget what i was looking at that made me think about this. Whoops.

someone asked me at work what I wanted for christmas. it’s be so long since someone asked me that. honestly, I just want a couple books that I’ve been eager to read. that’s all I could think of possibly wanting. I spent half a grand on my family though. we haven’t had a christmas in a long time due to money, so now a nigga got some, it’s only right. I got my sister this Polaroid camera set. I want her to capture her teenage years on film and hang the photos up or collect them to look back on. I got my parents this crochet pot, my big brother a projector & my younger brother a ps4. I hope they like it. I read this horoscope at the beginning of the year that detailed what would happen this year and it’s sus how all of it happened, well I think it said I’d finally find a lover, but I think that it meant I’d fall in love with myself. I’m happy with that. 2017 wasn’t bad at all. Lost all my closest friends, a couple of my best friends passed away, and I was going to kill myself a couple times, but I learned a lot about myself and what I plan to do with my life. I know what I want to do and I’ve grown so attached to my intuition that I hear and follow it everyday without hesitation. I’ve began becoming familiar with how the law of attraction works and how to manifest the life I want, which is cool. I also had the best day of my life this year seeing my favourite artist live while on acid (talk about wicked). I still think about the person I was in love with everyday. Even though they hurt me more this year more than any other year because I realized just how much I don’t matter to them, I still hope they are happy and living the best life they can. Now that I look back at the five years I knew them, and as my wisdom and maturity has grown, I honestly wouldn’t want to be anything other than just friends with them, but I’ll gladly take being strangers again. Maybe in a parallel universe things would’ve been different. Somewhere where the grass is greener and the sky is a little less blue. -jn

Pottermore Wand Test: the Yuri on Ice Main Characters Edition
It just so happens that sometimes my great and nostalgic love for Harry Potter manifests itself yet again in some interesting ways.
Today, for example, I had the urge to figure out which wands would the Yuri on Ice "main" characters use -- particularly in terms of wand woods, those being the greater variable and also kind of like a horoscope for characters.
I decided I wanted to try them out at the Pottermore wand quiz before freely assigning them anything, just for fun. Sometimes the Pottermore quizzes are right enough. Sometimes they're really wrong, and there's nothing to do but ignore it.
Of course, some of the questions don't really have definitive answers. I often play on that uncertainty by looking up the possible results and picking out the more fitting choices.
I thought I'd share the results I got. Even though Yuuri is giving me a terrible headache.
SPOILERS for the Pottermore scoring method ahead, in case anyone likes not knowing.
Pottermore's wand quiz determines the wood by the following three questions: which is one's eye color, which trait out of a given seven one is most proud of, and which path one would choose at a fork in the road. The given seven traits are: determination, imagination, resilience, intelligence, originality, optimism and kindness. The paths available to choose from lead to the sea, a forest or a castle.
I started with Viktor. His eyes are very much blue, but when I was doing this I seemed to remember a couple of gifs where his eyes were gray. I checked later and it turns out I was wrong, his eyes are always blue (the gifs do exist but were manips), but I'd make a case for using the results for blue/gray anyway since they're oddly fitting. The trait he'd be most proud of in himself would of course be his originality. As for the path he'd pick, after being with Yuuri it'd definitely be the sea! But I'd also like to suggest that he’d pick the castle before that.
blue + originality + castle = Fir
blue + originality + sea = Elm
blue/gray + originality + castle = Elm
blue/gray + originality + sea = Cherry
I really like most of those results. Fir is described as a wand for survivors who pass through mortal peril and also for intimidating, focused and strong-minded people, which isn't not Viktor, especially before meeting Yuuri, but I also feel it's not a positive for him either. Elm, however, is an interesting choice, particularly for pre-Yuuri Viktor, since it's described as producing "the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells," and as preferring owners with "presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity." How much dignity Viktor really possesses either before or after meeting Yuuri is up for debate, and depends a lot on how you define "dignity," but I feel Elm certainly fits the image of Viktor Nikiforov.
I do like to think Viktor himself completely gave up on the trappings of image once meeting Yuuri. And Yuuri definitely changed his life (and certainly his priorities) in some very fundamental ways. Thus the wand most suited to him might change.
Cherry is of course THE Japanese tree and thus very much something that he'd strongly associate with Yuuri. The description says that cherry wands "possess truly lethal power, whatever the core, but if teamed with dragon heartstring, ought never to be teamed with a wizard without exceptional control and strength of mind."
Thus I immediately decided that Viktor's core, whatever the wood, is dragon heartstring. That core is said to be "somewhat temperamental," to learn more quickly than other types, and to produce the most powerful wands, which then "are capable of the most flamboyant spells." And... yes. This is definitely Viktor.
I was going to do Yuuri next but he was quite difficult, so I ended up doing Yuri Plisetsky instead. I'm pretty sure Yurio's eyes are blue-green, and he'd prize his own determination. I don't think he'd pick the forest at all -- he'd either pick the sea because of his association of it with Yuuri or notice that, get pissed, and pick the castle... But here are the possible matches anyway.
blue/green + determination + sea = Pear
blue/green + determination + forest = Cypress
blue/green + determination + castle = Hawthorn
Neither Pear nor Cypress are really a match at all: pear is for the "warm-hearted, the generous and the wise," and cypress is for the "self-sacrificing, unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and other's natures"... both of which are kind of so unsuited for teenage Yurio it's kind of hilarious.
Hawthorn is pretty great for him, though: it's a wand very suited to both healing magic and curses, meant for "those with a conflicted nature, or passing through a period of turmoil." It's also warned that its wizard should be very talented "or the consequences might be dangerous."
I was rather divided on which core should Yurio get. Dragon heartstring suits him as well as it does Viktor, and it'd be in keeping with the fact that they sometimes end up parallelled, but I wondered if exactly because it's Viktor's core Yurio might not end up with unicorn hair instead, which would be in keeping with their frequent clashes instead. Unicorn hair wands are very loyal and produce less power but more consistent magic.
And finally we get to the most troublesome character: Yuuri. This boy took me quite the time, mainly because of his ridiculous choice range. Seriously, Yuuri, what is your eye color? Most Japanese people have "dark brown/black" eyes, but as an anime character, Yuuri's eye color is lighter... and occasionally quite impossible. I think sometimes it looks reddish? Should I then put it down as "other"? Or go for a bit more realism and put it down as just "brown"? I imagine Yuuri would be most proud of his resilience... or would it be his determination? Would he elect to go to the sea ("home") or to the forest (running away from "home")? (I discarded the castle path due to associating it with people, socialization, and maybe sophistication, all of which Yuuri would almost certainly want to avoid.) Then again, as a friend pointed out, it is just like Yuuri to be like this and give me around eleven possible results, none of which are immediately apparent as his perfect match.
black + determination + sea = Beech
black + determination + forest = Ebony
black + resilience + sea = Larch
black + resilience + forest = Apple
brown + determination + sea = Fir
brown + determination + forest = Yew
brown + resilience + sea = Laurel
brown + resilience + forest = Rowan
other + determination + sea = Red Oak
other + determination + forest = Rowan
other + resilience + sea = Pine
other + resilience + forest = Dogwood
Out of Yuuri's eleven possible wands, I'd say only two of them do not fit him at all. Out of the remaining nine, there are two I'd be doubtful about assigning him but see no reason to outright reject. The final seven can all be said to work, and not one strikes me as so perfect no other would do.
Yuuri wouldn't work well with either beech or dogwood. Beech wands are meant for those "wise beyond their years, or rich in understanding and experience," and, much as I adore Yuuri, I think we can all agree those are not characteristics typical of him. Dogwood is "quirky and mischievous" and looks for a master equally as playful, which are also not defining characteristics of Yuuri.
Two other possible matches that do not appeal to me but neither do I see great objection to them: red oak and rowan. Red oak prefers a match with unusually fast reactions. "Its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable." Rowan, on the other hand, "is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted." Again, neither of those descriptions are particularly characteristic of Yuuri, in my opinion.
The long list of maybes is apple, ebony, fir, larch, laurel, pine, and yew.
Apple is described as "best suited to an owner of high aims and ideals," and its owner will often have "great personal charm, being well-loved and long-lived." I do think Yuuri's natural stubbornness could easily lead into high aims and ideals, depending on how he was taught and his experiences, and although he's often asocial and standoffish, he's very well-loved by those who know him and exceedingly charming in his own way. There's also some evidence to support the theories that, although he sees himself as awkward, people around him interpret his behavior as cool.
Ebony works best for "those with the courage to be themselves; non-conformist, highly individual, comfortable with the status of outsiders; people who will hold fast to their beliefs despite external pressure and will not be lightly swayed from their purpose." Despite Yuuri's constant assertions of being mentally weak, I believe the truth is that he's very courageous and quite stubborn: he not only deviated from two fairly comfortable possible futures (helping his family at the onsen; following in Minako's footsteps as a danseur) to follow an exceedingly demanding and expensive dream, he even went so far as to leave his home country by himself for the unknown to better his chances of succeeding... and of course, it's all the more difficult for him since he has anxiety. He also seems very comfortable with the status of outsider.
Fir demands "staying power and strength of purpose, and favours owners of focused, strong-minded, and occasionally intimidating demeanour." Of course, Yuuri's great stamina is a plot point, and as for the intimidating demeanour, see Minami's POV.
Larch is a particularly interesting wand wood for Yuuri, as it has a reputation for instilling courage and confidence in the user, which would greatly appeal to someone like him. It is however also very tricky to handle, and seeks out masters that, like the wands themselves, have "hidden talents and unexpected effects." The description furthermore says that the person meant for a larch wand "may never realize the full extent of their considerable talents until paired with a larch wand, but will then make an exceptional match." This might actually be one of my favorite wands for him.
Laurel wands have a reputation for being honourable, but often their matched owners are involved in a quest for glory, during which lethal magic may sometimes be performed. Laurel wands disdain laziness in their owner, but will actually defend themselves from being stolen from a match that treats them properly, via spontaneous lighting stike. As Yuuri is both hard-working and competitive, he would do quite well with a laurel wand.
Pine "always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious." They're also said to "perform best for owners destined for long lives." Yuuri can be very independent, as seen from him cutting himself off from his family and close Japanese friends for years; and the skating community almost certainly thought of him as quite intriguing and mysterious at times.
Yew is very rare to find in a wand, and their matches are "unusual and occasionally notorious; heroes as often as villains." The yew wand "never chooses either a mediocre or a timid owner." I know some people will say this wand shouldn't fit Yuuri, to which I insist that "reserved and occasionally shy" is very much not the same as "timid."
Yuuri's wand core, out of the canon three, can't be other than the phoenix feather, which is "capable of the greatest range of magic, though it may take longer to reveal this." Phoenix feather wands are very picky, as phoenixes are "independent and detached." These wands are "the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won." Thus, an extremely capable and versatile wand core, but difficult to win over and quite the late bloomer. The many parallels with Yuuri himself are quite clear!
Here are the complete descriptions!

THE NEW AGE OF AQUARIUS Eren Melchizedek
HISTORY
The ruler of Aquarius is Uranus. Its symbol represents water, a universal image which dates back into prehistory. This will also be recognized in the egyptian hieroglyph representing the same. The association in Aquarius is that of the servant of humanity pouring out the water of knowledge to quench the thirst of the world. These symbolic waves of water, share the dual expression of vibrational waves of electricity or parallel lines of force.
Personalities: Aquarians are interesting and attractive people. They can be shy, sensitive, gentle and patient; or enthusiastic and lively with a tendency to be exhibitionists. Both types are strong willed and forceful in their own way. Very opinionated with strong convictions, they fight for what they believe in. They will argue vehemently for what they believe to be true, however, if you can show them facts to the contrary, they have little trouble altering their opinion.
These are farsighted people with an eye and ear to the new and innovative. They are generally without prejudice and quite tolerant of the point of view of others. They have an interesting side to their nature that allows them to see a valid argument even when they disagree with it. They are quite objective folk and never get waylaid by being too close to an issue or person.
Regardless of type, Aquarius is truly a humane, human being. Known to be frank and outspoken, a 'on my mind, on my mouth' type, Aquarius makes for a serious and genial companion. Refined and idealistic, romantic but practical, they are personable and likable people. Quick in mind and quick to respond, Aquarians love activity and are quite reasonable, though difficult to get close to. They cherish and guard their independence, and are a strange mixture of caring concern and cool detachment. They will go out of their way to help when needed, but never get involved emotionally.
Mythic Origins —
To fully appreciate the mythological significance of Aquarius, it is necessary to bear in mind the importance of water to our ancestors. The very existence of the ancients depended upon the supply of life sustaining moisture. During the month of Aquarius, the rains were on the land, literally poured from the heavens. In many regions of the ancient world, this was seen as the beginning the new year, a time of new life cycles. It is not hard to understand why some images depict the figure of Aquarius as a water bearing angel.
The region of the night sky in which Aquarius resides is populated by water signs. In Babylonia, this region of the zodiac was known as the Sea. Here we also find, Capricornus, the water goat and Pisces, the fish.
To the Greeks, Aquarius was associated with Ganymede, the son of Tros, king of Phrygia. The god Zeus, so admired the boy's beauty that he abducted him to serve as cup bearer on Mount Olympus. It was this desire to possess the young prince which inspired Zeus to cast his image eternally in the night sky.
The Egyptians associated this time of year with the god Hapi. A heavyset, abundant figure, Hapi was responsible for the annual flooding of the river Nile. In some images he is seen watering the earth from two large jugs.
The Dreams: People have been having many water type dreams. Usually they are very scary. Many people are afraid that these dreams are prophetic and that the ocean is going to come over the land and kill everyone. However, other dreams like this portray similar ocean dreams but the dreamer just stands there and watches in awe and feels no fear. Other dreams are about fish tanks which are broken and fish are flopping on the floor helplessly, and others where the tank breaks and water falls to the floor, but the fish swim in the air just like they were still in the water. We have come to think of these dreams, as being prophetic, Yes! However, not that the physical world will be destroyed but that we are undergoing a spiritual change, and these dreams are messages that the Age of Pisces (a water sign) is ending, and that the Age of Aquarius (the water bearer sign) is coming in. This link is provided if you would like to read the dreams we have collected. WATER DREAMS
Let me quote from the book 'Millennium Prophecies, Predictions for the Year 2000, by A.T. Mann'. Chapter 10: Dates for the Beginning of the Age of Aquarius:
In the 'Book of World Horoscopes' Nicholas Campion mentions at least seventy dates for the beginning of the Age of Aquarius covering a range of 1500 years. He forewarns his readers by stating that there has been much confusion over this issue, and quotes the noted astrologer Charles Carter's statement that more rubbish has been written about this subject than any other branch of astrology, which is probably, in itself, an exaggeration.
As an illustration, Campion mentions an interesting synchronicity that occurred in 1962 involving a nineteenth-century French hoaxer and the renowned American clairvoyant Jeanne Dixon. In the 1890's Gabriel Jogand, primarily to agitate superstitious Catholics, deliberately devised and publicized a myth that the Antichrist was going to be born in 1962. On the projected day seventy years later, Jeanne Dixon had a vision that somewhere in the Middle East a baby had been born who would become a world teacher and lead humanity away from Christianity...an accurate definition of the Antichrist and also as a symbol of the beginning of the Age of Aquarius.
Campion constructed the horoscope computed from Dixon's estimated time and transposed it to Jerusalem and discovered that there had been a Solar Eclipse on the previous day when all of the traditional seven planets were in the sign of Aquarius. This is an interesting possibility for the entrance of the Age of Aquarius, but was not accompanied by an significant world events which would justify such a selection. This is also true of the majority of dates previously set for this momentous entrance...although enticing, they have not been persuasively connected with any major world events which would justify their claims. However, it could be reasons that the entrance into the Age of Aquarius is an inner, rather han an outer transformation, which could be the case.
It is generally believed that the Aquarian Age started in the year 2000, 2160 years roughly being the Age of a Sign. The Piscean age started at around 200 BCE ( Before Common Era ). Let us study the symbolisms of the Piscean and the Aquarian Ages.
As the Earth's precession is 72 degrees per degree, 2160 years is an Age Cycle. 25920 years ( 12*2160) is a Precessional Cycle or a Great Plato Year or an Aeon.
Pisces means Fishes and Jesus was the Redeemer of the Piscean Age. The Piscean Age emphasised Faith. The two fishes of Pisces indicate Dualism and during this time, the conflict between Religion & Science intensified as Science rose against blind Faith. The belief in an external God was rejected by Science.
Aquarius is ruled by two planets in Astrology - Uranus & Saturn. Uranus represents Independence and Saturn Universal Humanism. Humanism postulates that no dogma or political doctrine can save you; only you can save yourself. If you save yourself, you save society, you save the nation and the Planet Earth ! In other words, Universal Humanism will be the hallmark of the Aquarian Age.
The astrologic scholar Jeff Jawer remarks that the Aquarian Age has not arrived in his article " On The Cusp between Pisces and Aquarius. " The first Venus Transit occurred in 2004 & the next one wlll be in 2012. These 8 years will be like the Dark Night of the Soul, a chaotic period of purgatorial suffering as the Planet Earth goes through a dark phase. Dr Jose Arguelles, the scholar who brought the concept of Harmonic Convergence, also thinks that the enlightening Age of Aquarius will dawn on 2012.
The famous song on Aquarian Age states thus
When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars! This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius The age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!
All freethinkers are excited about the New Aquarian Age where Wisdom will blossom and importance will be on Self development, Self Transformation, Self Realisation & Self Actualisation. Gone are the days of dogma & Blind Faith. Personal transformation will result in Planetary Transformation !
Dante, Bernard Shaw & Alice Bailey had highlighted in their writings that a World Government is the only solution to achieve permanent World Peace. Mahesh Yogi inaugurated the World Government in 1975 in Seelisberg, Switzerland ( " In response to the call of time, a global organisation has been structured, the non-political, the non-religious World Government which has the knowledge and expertise to create an ideal society" ). Foster Bailey, the husband of Alice Bailey, said that " Free Masonry is the descendent of a United World Religion, a divinely imparted Religion. Then came separativeness and religions. Now we are striving for a United World Order" There is also a move to create a World Stock Market & to control all governments in the world. The foundations behind the United Nations are spiritual. The Global Oneness Movement is gaining momentum and a Council of Global Governance has been constituted with Maurice Strong as the President.
Dr Wilhmhurst saw the dawning of the Aquarian Age as the fulfillment of the Plan and said that Free Masonry may be the vehicle for that fulfillment. Wise people point out that the New Age Movement is the Universal Religion which H G Wells predicted would one day take over mankind.
The hand of the Mysteries controlled the establishment of the United States Government and the signature of the Mysteries may still be seen on the Great Seal of the United States of America. The Seal discloses a mass of Masonic symbols, chiefly amongst them the American Eagle, which is a conventionalized phoenix. The U S Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter said " The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes ".
THE AQUARIAN SHIFT
Many changes were coming that were associated with the shift to the Aquarian Age, and it was time for people to have the tools they would need to transition from the Piscean Age that we had been in for 2000 years, into this new age.
What are these ages? Astronomers will tell you that the Earth rotates on an axis and that this line going through the center of the earth has a slight wobble to it. It goes through a little circular wobble about once every 24,000 years. This cycle has been broken into 12 parts associated with the 12 astrological signs, based on which constellation the axis is wobbling towards. From around 2000 B.C. to 0 A.D. we were in the Age of Aries. From 0 A.D. to the present we have been in the Age of Pisces.
For the next 2000 years we will be in the Aquarian Age. We have been in the transition from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age for the last 50 years. The official beginning of the Aquarian Age is November 11, 2011 or 11/11/11. Some people have set this date as December 21, 2012. Considering that this is a 2000 year cycle, no matter which date you accept, we are in for lots of change in the near future!
Why is this so important? Many people go their whole lives not caring or knowing if they are a Pisces, or a Gemini, or what their moon or rising sign is. This change to the Aquarian age is so important because it changes the astrological conditions for the entire planet. Every person on planet Earth has been and will be affected by this shift. Let’s investigate what will be changing.
The Piscean Age has been dominated by hierarchy, and power. The key phrase for this age was from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, “To be or not to be.” To make a successful and happy life, you needed to resolve this question. The key to the astrological sign Pisces is “I believe.” During this age, in order for you “to be,” you needed to find someone or something to believe in.
When you found that thing, you attached yourself to that thing and were guided how to live. This could be a religion, a political ideology, a charismatic leader, work, etc. The keys to life were hidden and secret in the halls of power and in the monasteries and ashrams. But you didn’t need to know these secrets, only to follow leaders and guides who did. This created vertical hierarchies as a result, and it was essential to find your place in the pecking order.
This has been the foundation for human consciousness for the past 2000 years. Everything that you have learned from your parents, and they from their parents, going back 2000 years, has been colored by this Piscean frame of reference. And now that is all changing.
The Aquarian Age will be dominated by networks, and information. The key phrase for this age is “Be to be.” The key to the astrological sign Aquarius is “I know.” This is the age of information. Nothing is secret anymore. All information is available at your fingertips. Where the Piscean age was organized in a vertical, up and down structure of hierarchies, the Aquarian Age is organized in a horizontal network, opening the world up to true equality.
During this age, the focus is no longer on your identity and existence (“to be or not to be”), but on accepting yourself as a whole person (“be to be”) who does not need to believe in something outside of yourself. You are ready to accept that you have the knowledge and wisdom within yourself. It is no longer necessary to attach to something outside yourself, but to become a leader of one: yourself. Instead of being a railroad car that is pulled by an engine, you become your own engine. It is your responsibility to stay on the tracks and to keep moving forward.
With this understanding, it is easier to comprehend what has been happening in the world over the last 50 years. On the inner level, since the 1960’s, there has been a huge movement towards personal transformation: self awareness, self improvement, yoga, meditation, tai chi, alternative healing, natural foods, etc. There has also been a major increase in depression, suicide, anxiety, stress, and drug use, both pharmaceutical and recreational.
In the outer world, we have seen amazing changes: civil rights, environmental consciousness, women’s rights, gay rights, global consciousness, etc. We have also seen the rise of fundamentalism, terrorism, partisan politics, racism, xenophobia (the fear of the “other”), and general fear mongering.
This shift is bringing out the best and the worst in mankind. Some people are preparing for this shift by opening their hearts and minds and embracing this new age, and some people are intimidated by the changes that they don’t understand and want to return to a “golden age” in the past, or to circle the wagons and trust only those who are like themselves.
Transformation is never a painless process. When you fast or cleanse to purify your body, at first you feel worse, because toxins get stirred up in order to be eliminated. Once these poisons have been cleared, you feel lighter and more energized. Now imagine that every person on planet Earth is going through this shift. We are heading into a time of radical change. It is a time of great potential growth and expansion, but it is also a time of great potential pain and suffering. The more that you understand what is happening, the more that you can go through all of the changes without losing your balance and stability.
What can you do to help make this transition into this new age of information and consciousness? Here are some suggestions:
1. Have a daily spiritual practice. Every spiritual tradition has one thing in common: a daily practice. This can be many different things: yoga, meditation, chanting, prayer, contemplation, exercise, journaling, etc. It is not important what you are doing, but that you do something almost every day, and do it with an intention to let go of your blocks and focus your consciousness. Kundalini yoga and meditation are the most powerful tools that I have found, but everyone must find their own pathway and collect the tools for their own toolbox.
2. Don’t give in to fear, despair, or anger. There is so much happening that can trigger these emotions: the media, the environment, politics, terrorism, etc. If you understand that these emotions are all symptoms of the Aquarian shift, then you can go through them without losing your center.
3. Don’t be a victim. You have the power to change your life. Don’t give that power away to anyone through blame or resentment. You are responsible for your happiness and grace. Don’t buy into any view of reality in which you are not 100% responsible for making your life work. The Aquarian Age is all about empowerment and consciousness.
4. Be a source of light. The more people who consciously choose to embrace the Aquarian shift, the easier this transformation will go for humanity. It is a spiritual truth that a small percentage of people who have shifted their consciousness can influence the rest of humanity. If you are reading this, then you are most likely one of these pioneers. Find a way to spread your light: teach, heal, create community networks, serve, sacrifice, love. Welcome to the Aquarian Age!

ASTROLOGY FOR THIS WEEK...

January 13, 2018 / This Week in Astrology This Week in Astrology: January 14 to 20, 2018 January 14 to 20, 2018 On this Page: This week’s Moon phase Planets in signs and aspect Retrogrades This week’s astrology calendar Timing with the Moon Romance & Relationship Report Daily Trends New Moon The NEW MOON occurs on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 9:17 PM EST. The New Moon is exact on Tuesday when the Sun and Moon align in the sign of Capricorn. This lunation symbolizes a new beginning in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. It’s a time during which we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Goat–tenacious, resourceful, disciplined, wise, ambitious, prudent, constant–and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives. Now, we can focus on practical and attainable long-term goals, work on developing maturity and common sense, prepare for the future, make commitments and recognize responsibilities, and nurture our dreams in a realistic manner. With this potent Capricorn energy, we have the chance to create some serious order in our lives. It’s time to make some solid plans and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs. One of Capricorn’s “lessons” is acceptance of the concept that reasonable boundaries and rules actually do offer us freedom–freedom from worry and chaos, for example. Setting goals for ourselves allows us to focus on what really matters. This lunation aligns with Venus and forms a square to Uranus and sextiles Mars, suggesting the need to break away from old, outdated patterns so that we can move forward authentically. While we need to make nice with others to advance our goals, Uranus in Aries may not feel very comfortable with this idea. An unusually large number of planets are in Capricorn at this New Moon. I remember something similar on January 15th, 1991, with a somewhat different cast of characters (Pluto was in Scorpio at the time) largely because it was the date I was told my labor would be induced for my first child. Even though it didn’t actually come to pass, I had looked it up and the chart was so distinctive. New Moon in Capricorn Chart: January 16, 2018 This phase of the Moon occurs at 26 degrees and 55 minutes of Capricorn, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 23 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and 0 to 1 degree of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly. Moon Phase Cycle: Bigger Picture Jan 16, 2018, 9:17 PM Sun Conjunct Moon (New Moon) Jan 24, 2018, 5:20 PM Sun Square Moon (First Quarter Moon) Jan 31, 2018, 8:27 AM Sun Opposition Moon (Full Moon) Feb 7, 2018, 10:54 AM Sun Square Moon (Last Quarter Moon) Feb 15, 2018, 4:05 PM Sun Conjunct Moon (New Moon) (Times are Eastern) The Sun is in Capricorn until January 19th, when it enters Aquarius; Mercury is in Capricorn; Venus is in Capricorn until the 17th, when it enters Aquarius; Mars is in Scorpio. The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21, 2017 – January 19, 2018. We are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes. Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence. The Sun is in Aquarius from January 19-February 18, 2018. During this cycle, we are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives and strive to find new perspectives and new ways to do things. The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn finds appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant to us. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe. Mercury is in Capricorn from January 11-31. When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized. We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism. Venus is in Capricorn from December 25-January 17. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions is increased. We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships. Venus is in Aquarius from January 17-February 10. We move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom as themes in our social relationships under this influence. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on his own terms! Experimental relationships are more intriguing now. Being friends as well as lovers is important to us during this cycle. Allowing one another freedom of expression, and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially, are themes now. Mars is in Scorpio from December 9-January 26. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We are persevering, single-minded, and strong. The desire to experience our emotional depths, as well as the urge to penetrate the surface of life in order to explore deeper levels of existence, is powerful. We are fascinated with what others tend to repress, and are drawn to experiencing and understanding these things. We are less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the “middle road” is felt to be unsatisfying. Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here. Jupiter entered Scorpio on October 10th and will remain in the sign until November 8th, 2018. Read about Jupiter in Scorpio transit here. Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011 and will transit Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries. Romance & Relationships Venus is in Capricorn from December 25-January 17. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. This week: On Monday, we may be confused about our feelings or insecure about a relationship, and we should watch for obsessing over these things. Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week: Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives. Venus in Aquarius A love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this. Venus parallel Saturn January 10-11. We may express our affection sparingly, but also responsibly and in practical ways. Relationships begun under this influence often feel burdensome over time, but they may last longer than most. Venus square Uranus January 13. We might have to deal with issues of freedom versus intimacy during this period. Peculiar or impulsive attractions are exciting, but unlikely to last very long. Treat them as passing fancies, and enjoy them while they last–but try to hold off on making any big decisions with regards to love today. Venus sextile Chiron January 13. Love has the power to heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings and more willing to act upon them. Venus semi-square Neptune January 15. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now. Venus parallel Pluto January 15. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships. Venus parallel Mars January 24. Favors romantic and sexual relationships. Intense passions. The Moon & Timing The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology). Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations. The Void-of-Course Moon this Week: Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, January 14th, from 3:49 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 2:43 PM EST. VOC Moon on Wednesday, January 17th, from 1:31 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 3:33 AM EST. VOC Moon on Friday, January 19th, from 6:53 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:28 PM EST. January 2018: Void of Course Moon Tables: January 2018 (Dates & Times) Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives The Moon is waning this week until the New Moon on the 16th — a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waxing this week after the New Moon on the 16th — a period that is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, also with exceptions. According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week in the hour around the Cazimi New Moon on Tuesday, the 16th — from approximately 8:50 PM to 9:45 PM, while the Moon is in Capricorn. This Week’s Calendar This Week in Astrology Calendar: January 14 to 20, 2018 This Week’s Aspects Sun square Uranus. We can’t expect much of anything when the Sun squares Uranus, except the unexpected! Disrupted routines and plans are in order, which help to stimulate the adoption of new approaches. During this transit, we feel the need for action, but if we don’t know where we’re headed, we might take the wrong turn. Unexpected changes in plans or events can test our patience, and we might feel a bit out of control. However, they could stimulate us to try new approaches and they certainly act to cut boredom. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but avoid making hasty major decisions for the time being. Sun sextile Chiron. An opportunity to find a sense of purpose or a “mission” arises now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem solving is favored. Venus semi-square Neptune. Happiness is addictive under this influence. We tend to see what we want to see. Glossing over the more realistic points, details, and flaws of circumstances and of people provides us with instant gratification. However, it’s wise to hold off on making important purchases, or natalizing a relationship until the veil lifts. Take care with legal, financial, and social involvements, contracts, or formal agreements under this dreamy influence. Jupiter sextile Pluto. This transit generally favors business, the law, and commerce. We might enjoy increased influence, faith, and insight now. The desire for more personal significance can lead us to give of ourselves or motivate us to more ambitiously pursue personal or professional goals. The ability to sway or persuade can be enhanced now. One of the most positive uses of this transit is taking steps to better ourselves. We might solve a problem that has been in existence for some time, or capitalize upon a resource that was previously hidden. Sun semi-square Neptune. Our willpower is low as we stray from our goals and temporarily lose focus. It’s difficult to formulate — or stick to — clear goals during this transit. Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on matters that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct our willpower under this influence. It’s also a challenge knowing where we stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time. Mars quincunx Uranus. Making adjustments to our goals may be necessary now, and this can temporarily drain our energy or make us feel restless and impatient. Mercury semi-square Mars. We are quick-witted and ready to argue under this influence. We may be working under stressful or hectic conditions, as we feel pressure to get things done quickly. We are inclined to be snappy and irritable, and we may too easily interrupt others rather than listen. Conflicts of interest are likely. Mars trine Chiron. We may have the opportunity to take the lead, or to take action, regarding matters that lead to healing, cleansing, or teaching now. We can feel a sense of mission now. There is likely to be a feeling of fearlessness when it comes to addressing problem areas, and self-confidence as well. There is a drive to take positive action, usually to defend or help others (or ourselves). It’s a strong period for cooperation and purposeful activity. Mercury sextile Neptune. Intuition runs high; we are more sensitive artistically; imagination is stirred; and we have an increased appreciation for subtleties. We are inspired and we are able to inspire others with our words. Note: Times given in the table/calendar above are Eastern Time (ET). JANUARY 14 Following a square between Venus and Uranus yesterday, the Sun follows suit, introducing shifts of energy into our day. We are more inclined now to act on a whim, and routines/plans are disrupted. These energies help to stimulate the adoption of new approaches. This transit could offer us the drive to do something new, but we should save making hasty major decisions for a more stable time. Irritations that seem to stem from others could be the reflection of our own inner uneasiness. We could be feeling dissatisfied if faced with old routines or limiting circumstances. We should guard against temperamental behavior and decision making. Later today, the Sun moves towards a sextile to Chiron, increasing our desire to learn and grow through our experiences. The Moon continues its transit of Sagittarius until 2:43 PM EST, after which the Moon moves through Capricorn. The Moon is void from 3:49 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Uranus), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 2:43 PM EST. JANUARY 15 The Moon spends the day in Capricorn and will be New tomorrow. Today, it’s better to wind down projects and tie up loose ends than start anything brand new. A semi-square between Venus and Neptune points to some tendency to see what we want to see as a form of instant gratification, but we may be glossing over critical flaws and details. Tonight, Jupiter and Pluto perfect a sextile aspect, and this is the first of three such exact aspects while Jupiter transits Scorpio (the next two will occur in April and September). This is a strong influence for increased confidence, faith, and insight, as well as for nurturing our ambitions. We’re good at employing strategy, seeing its value. The desire for more personal significance can lead us to give of ourselves or motivate us to pursue personal or professional goals more ambitiously. The ability to sway or persuade can be enhanced now. We might take steps to better ourselves, solve a long-standing problem, or capitalize upon a resource that was previously hidden. JANUARY 16 JANUARY 17 The Moon is void from 1:31 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 3:33 AM EST. JANUARY 18 JANUARY 19 The Moon is void from 6:53 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Pisces at 3:28 PM EST. Moon Signs This Week: When the Moon is in Sagittarius The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it". The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity. When the Moon is in Capricorn We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye. The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments. When the Moon is in Aquarius Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us. The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group. When the Moon is in Pisces We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description. The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water. Upcoming Weeks: Calendars This Week in Astrology Calendar: January 14 to 20, 2018 This Week in Astrology Calendar: January 21-27, 2018 This Week in Astrology Calendar: January 28th to February 3rd, 2018 This Week in Astrology Calendar: February 4th to 10th, 2018 This Week in Astrology Calendar: February 11 to 17, 2018 This Week in Astrology Calendar: February 18 to 24, 2018 THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends): Sun in Capricorn You see what’s wrong and you know what to do now: the time has come to make it real, and it’s a lot bigger than any one person. This means cooperation and organization, authority and discipline, responsibility – and all these things are what it takes to get you where you know you must go. But take care! If your vision is only for yourself, what you create cannot last: it must be for some greater good. Ambition, practicality, and achievement are admirable, but they are means to an end – not ends in themselves. Sun in Aquarius This is a time when your path of self-development and expression becomes more and more unusual – setting you apart from the crowd and from all that is traditional. The new, the futuristic, the high-tech are the hallmarks of your lifestyle as the cycle gets underway. Ideas and technologies that change the way people live – not just one person, but many – are a major new focus in your life. Involvement with ideals and idealistic groups enhances your sense of purpose and mission. Mercury in Capricorn Figuring out how to organize projects and people is apt to become a topic of special interest – and a challenge – at a time like this. Opinions are not enough for you now: they must be backed by authority or evidence, and above all, they must have practical worth and application. A period of intense study and thought. Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Mars in Scorpio Tear it down and build it up again, reach in and pluck out the offending element: that’s what the new cycle you have entered is like. Power becomes a compelling idea, perhaps even an aphrodisiac – and you’ve got a stronger than usual supply of it now. Use it, don’t abuse it – or you might find that it’s a two-edged sword! Jupiter in Scorpio The phase now beginning for you emphasizes fixing what is broken or unhealthy, thereby giving it a new lease on life. This is more than one person alone can handle, so the cooperation of others is essential. You give up something in order to get or create something, and you may not understand the reasons why at the time. Sex, money, power, and vitality become key issues. Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means. Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart. Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances? Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place… The interpretations in this box are from the Day Watch software. What’s In Your Forecast?
