You know, the only problematic thing about it is the term "gender"bend. A cis female/male or nb/intersex/trans version of a character in and of itself is okay. Imho. You're right about clothing not being gendered too btw

that is ALSO true a mental note for when i’m alive is that i should go back to all my old shit and readjust the terminology from when i was ya dumb pleb (actually i say like i was dumb back then but i legit misused the term like 3 posts before this one lol i’m still dumb pleb)

ya ur right i’m not saying that whole concept of like turning a cis into just male/female/nb is problematic in general and if people do it right then it’s still cool, but it was possibly problematic for me like as anon1 has said, already i’ve misused the term in my old deviations which is like not alright- i mean you could probably argue that i was totally okay- aside from misuse of term- bc i never actually said any of my older edits were cis like mayuto could totally just be a lil transboi if you want him to be- but in realisation for me, if ya take away my made-up name, mayuto, as a design, is technicaly just mayu but with short hair and shorts which was my like ‘really man- is this really necessary for me to do’ moment and the catalyst to just cutting it ya- the idea of me making up new characters that nobody knows of, chucking clothes on and lengthening/shortening hair was a lil futile in terms of design like i could just do the same but still keep the character just as is ya kno??

and honestly i reckon it was fine and dandy until i reached out of crypton characters- from a design scope- like for e.g. my meito was totally fine because like,, my meito doesn’t look like meichan at all- rather i built him up to be more of a sibling, diff face, diff body type etc, than mei but with pants

i reckon (for the non-crypton characters) since they weren’t established characters and some that i made and named on the spot, designing got kind of lazy and stupid dumb and it was like i was avoiding the females entirely and opting to do just do these kind of… lazy-designed-“pants-make-‘em-male” (i could’ve made those characters Better in general smh) versions instead- which is unfair as well bc i lov my ladies
