instead of "touch grass" I propose "crouch in the grass"
touch grass has become a phrase used by trolls and bullies who refuse to see other people's points of view. it has lost all of its original meaning. crouch in the grass is both softer and somehow more wild.
yes, please, go outside, crouch in the grass.
feel the blades brush your thighs in a game of drawing your blood just so it falls to the earth. watch as the ants and beetles scurry around, desperate for their next (or maybe last) meal. look at the green around you that is caused by a complex process all started by the sun. slowly realize how the microcosm becomes the macrocosm. ultimately learn that compared to the universe you are as insignificant as the flies that buzz in that patch of light across the field. but the flies matter, don't you know? they are part of a food chain going back millions of years, from before we were even a twinkle in existence's eye. without them everything would fall apart. can't you see? as tiny of a blip we are, we still matter to something, to someone. we matter and so do our actions, so do our words. the flies die, but first they dance. go crouch in the grass.
