OH that's a good question! i actually used to but i got out of the habit (oddly) when i moved to a fandom where i get less comments. the reason for this is that getting less comments meant i liked to go back and re-read them as if they were new comments and once i replied that would mean i was 'done' with them. so if i haven't replied to your comment that is because. i am still enjoying it.

i do reply when someone has a question or other comment that i feel warrants a response tho

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

oof so the answer is definitely this merlin series which tbh i can't say i'd recommend as it's genuinely pretty brutal. i don't know if i can say that i regret the bleakness of the ending tho.

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

very rarely write 'crossovers' in the strictest sense BUT i do rly like writing fusions & of those i think the weirdest is the merlin/borrowers fusion bcos the whole concept of M-rated borrowers fic is just. frankly unacceptable!! but i did it anyway.

side note i do actually have a bunch more material around that one drabble (a whole au that's like the plot of the first borrowers but a romance essentially)

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

uhh kind of? yes. way back when i was about 14 and had just started posting fanfic i got a hm Scathing review on a fic i posted. however i was not especially bothered as i was very up myself when i was 14 and it would have taken more than 1 rude person to make me think what i was doing was anything less than Stellar and also the review was pretty dumb.

a lot of the stuff they didn't like in my story seemed to come down to them having failed to realise it was an AU & what i learned from that experience was you can't trust people to actually read your author's notes. the other stuff they took issue with came down to 'this was clearly written by a teenage girl' and in retrospect i'm like yeah no shit. this sounds like it was written by a teenager bcos i was in fact a teenager. do u have nothing better to do.

yes. tho not super often these days.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

sorta? once someone translated one of my fics & posted it without crediting the original. it was very very obviously a direct translation even without speaking the language it was written in. they'd been doing it for a while and i believe they got reported but i don't actually remember what came of it.

OH you know i was actually thinking about this the other day! i always wanted to do a fourth installment of my Merlin urban fantasy AU that would tie some stuff together (and also feature gwen! who was absent from the entire fic bcos i was saving her for later!! i'm so sorry!) but i just lost interest in the fandom. i remember being conscious when i posted the 3rd part that it was kind of a parting gift to the Merlin fandom as a whole. am still pretty proud of that one.

i did it 1 time using google translate in an original story & then i ended up actually selling the story so i had to scrabble around trying to find someone who spoke the language who could help me in advance of publishing it and then the process of translating it turned out to be much more complicated than i expected.

i don't remember the usernames of the very kind people who helped me out w it off the top of my head but thank you again!!

it was lord of the rings & tbh as lotr fanfics written aged 12 go it really wasn't that embarrassing but it is no longer online.

for some reason (and this is probably for the best) my tastes ran exclusively to crack fic & i also really liked legolas so it was just an extended fic about legolas having really stupid adventures which i thought was very funny at the time. it was co-written w a friend and tbph her chapters were legit funny. go figure.

You had never felt more at peace than in that moment. Everything felt like home, a place you belonged and were supposed to be.

You and the gramarie boys were relaxing in their dorm’s living room. The tv was on but no one paid any attention to it, instead preferring to mess around or blast music. You were exhausted, wanting to have a quiet and chill day with them but they put an end to that soon.

As you sat on the couch, half sunk into the worn and well loved cushions, the scene before you couldn’t help but make you smile. 

The sunlight was streaming in through the blinds that you had requested they leave half open and the room basked in a golden glow of the late afternoon sun. The white walls dripped in honey and the floor streaked with the shadows of the furniture and people within the room. 

Yankai was trying to stop Xiao Gui from doing something dumb, Yanchen sitting at the base of the couch just watching everything unfold while Xingjie got Xiao Gui in his clutches after doing something bad. You hadn’t seen exactly what he did, too enveloped in your thoughts.

‘Say it.’

‘I did wrong.’

He was almost home free but Xiao Gui just couldn’t help himself.

‘Huba-ge.’

He added it late enough that Xingjie had already loosened his grip and he slipped free, escaping to the couch next to you.

‘Y/N save me!’

He slid in between your back and the couch.

You laughed at his predictable antics and for a moment Zhu Xingjie’s world stopped.

There was something about the way you smiled that blocked out everything else, how tired he felt after going through so many shows in the industry, the painstaking unending days of training he had gone through. Somehow you made it all worth it. 

It wasn’t something he could pinpoint, but maybe then again it was everything that made you, you. The way you scrunched your nose when you bite into ice cream or drank a cold drink because you had sensitive teeth, or when you would steal any of their hoodies and wore them out, claiming that they had left them at yours. From all of the things he knew and noticed, he couldn’t deny the fact that he was undeniably and irrevocably in love with you.

He had known you for over a year now, actually coming up to two and it had been only a few months since he admitted his feelings to himself. For the first time in his life, he was lost and confused. If he let you know how he felt,there was so much that could be gained if you felt the same way but what scared him was in his mind, the bigger probability of him losing you, even as just a friend. 

With each second passing by, he could feel that urge to tell you rising up, much like his heart threatening to burst from his chest or leap up his throat, choking his words in the process. 

You threw your arm around Xiao Gui. 

‘Aw, is Huba being mean to my Linkai?’

Xingjie didn’t know what pushed him over that edge he was so careful to not fall from but he stood up, slowly as if steadying himself and turned to go from the room. 

‘No, the brat can keep being a brat.’

A silence captivated the people left behind and even though there was laughter on the tv, only the finality of xingjie’s door closing reached anyone’s ears. Your arm dangled from Xiao Gui’s shoulder as confusio but also shock took over. 

Yanchen just sighed. He could see it in Xingjie what was happening. The older boy seemed to the majority that he hid his emotions well but around those who knew him as well as Yanchen did, there were certain little things that one would pick up on. 

He stood up with a smile. 

‘Let’s go shopping. The fridge is looking bare.’

You stood up as Xiao Gui and Yankai went to get a jacket or hoodie to throw on which left you and Yanchen in the room. 

‘Are you sure it’s okay to leave Xingjie on his own?’

‘He won’t be on his own because you’re going to go talk to him.’

He saw the look you gave him.

‘I would stay and help but Yankai can’t control Xiao Gui and Xiao Gui isn’t to be left in charge of the money for shopping.’ 

It made sense to you but once the three had left, it finally hit you. You and Xingjie alone, and to make things more awkward, he was mad or upset in some way as far as you could tell. 

It was the first door on the right. The spring embers from the living room were left behind and the place now seemed desolate. You knocked on the door. 

No reply. 

You had been inside before so you opened the door and went in. 

There he was, sitting at the desk in one corner of the room. His back, from what you could see, didn’t move an inch. Headphones cupped his ears, the beats of what he was working on taking all of his attention.

You crossed the room, sitting on the bed and tucking yourself into the corner directly across from where Xingjie was at the desk. The blinds were almost all the way down, letting a rectangle stripe the walls with the escaping glow.

Time passed slowly but soon you were half asleep, clutching his pillow to your chest. The soft humming from Xingjie stopped when he finally noticed you in the room. He frowned to himself. Since when were you here? You had fallen asleep waiting for him and he couldn’t stop the adoring smile that graced his lips when he saw the way you clutched his pillow but there was a part of him that wanted to be the pillow, to have you hold him close as you slept.

Xingjie took the pillow from your grasp and put it back to where it had been before. Then he slipped his arm under your legs and another around your back, essentially carrying you. He lifted you up, only to put you back down again quickly but this time he lay you on the bed, covering you wth his blanket. He sat beside you at the top of the bed, unable to tear his eyes away from the sight of you sleeping in his bed. Although he knew that this truly meant nothing and that you two were still, and only ever going to be, friends, he savoured it nonetheless. 

In your sleepy state, you didn’t realise that the humming had stopped and you also didn’t register the fact that you were now lying down,just that you felt warm. You reached out for the pillow but instead your arms wrapped around something soft to the touch but firm. You pulled yourself closer to it and rest your head. 

The door opened and pulling you back to reality, Yanchen stepped into the room. You eyes had just opened when he spoke.

‘Wow, I didn’t expect you to tell them you love them so soon.’ 

‘I didn’t!’

Xingjie threw something at Yanchen to get him out of the room as you had him tied down in that moment. 

‘Well, you have to now.’

He looked down at you, only to see you looking back up at him. 

‘Shit.’

His face was flushed, his ears and neck tinged with a rose colour. 

‘Did you hear Yanchen?’

He didn’t even need a response, there was a look on your face and something about it told him that you had heard. 

‘He’s just joking around. Ignore him.’

He looked away as you kept on staring. There was something uncomfortable about the way he looked and felt under your gaze. You sat up now, across from him. 

‘Don’t you love me?’

Your heart shattered in that moment along with Xiingjie’s.There was no way to answer you without possibly ruining everything but every second longer he didn’t say anything he was ruining it just as much. 

‘Not even just as a frie-’

‘I do.

‘Honestly, I think I always have but I only realised it recently and it’s torn my world apart but also made it more beautiful. For the first time there is something, someone who is more important than my music and that scares me because music and performing has always been my first love and I thought that it would always be. Now it isn’t and I’m somehow okay with it. 

‘You inspire me to create more beautiful things and I try to emulate the feeling that your laughter gives me or the sweet adrenaline in my veins when I see you smile or wearing one of my hoodies and everytime I fail, but I won’t stop trying because if it means that eventually one day I’ll be able to convey how you make me feel in a song and being able to experience these days when they are over, it will be worth the unending aching of my heart because you’re not by my side.’

You sat in the stunned silence that almost suffocated you both. 

‘I’m okay with staying friends, as long as I still get to be with you and experience the beauty of life around you.’

‘I’m in love with you.’

It stumbles out of your mouth, forcing its way out to be heard and drift through the still air. 

‘Are you sure?’

You nod and suddenly the tension has gone from the room. 

Xingjie shoulder’s fell as he relaxed and after a while of the pair of you sitting in the silence of his now dark room, he said something.

‘Do you want to go for ice cream?’

You laughed at the absurdity of it. 

‘Ice cream? Zhu Xingjie it is almost nine at night, completely dark outside and you want to get ice cream?’

You tried to fight the smile from your face as you spoke but you were sure that it had crept through.

‘It’s a first isn’t it?’

‘Yeah, and?’

‘I want to experience everything for the first time with you.’

‘Ah, you’re so cheesy! Who knew Huba would be like this?’

He frowned and sighed, almost resigned.

‘That’s never going away is it?

‘What?’

‘Huba.’

You shake your head, and get off the bed, making sure to grab his arm on the way up. 

‘Nope, now come on Huba. Let’s go for that ice cream, my treat.’

You made sure to steal a hoodie from him as he started protesting the fact that you were going to pay. He shut up once he saw, but grumbled once more that he should pay. 

OMG THAT’S FINALLY FINISHED! I SWEAR I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR THE LONGEST TIME!

i’m sorry it’s so long and tbh the quality is v inconsistent throughtout bcos i just didn’t know what to do and i needed to get it out since i have two different orals in the next two weeks so i need to study and focus on those y i k e s.

dinner @ Lee House

Wooooooooot another Korean meal~

This was from last night, where I had dinner @ Lee House with my family. Story time at bottom of post :P but for now, let’s get to the food!

Sidedishes: kimchi, seaweed salad, bean sprouts, & marinated potato + carrot. 

The middle was a new dish for us: the “palace ddeokbokki”.

As opposed to the spicy ddeokbokki or the honey ddeokbokki, this ddeokbokki is cooked in a light soy sauce. It still contains the same veggies (some zucchini, carrot & cabbage), as well as a few flaps of fish cakes, but overall, it was very light. I would say the soy sauce is like a less sweet version of a garlic soy sauce (for wings). It was interesting. My family liked it, but I prefer the “traditional” ddeokbokki - the red & spicy kind.

Korean soy bean paste stew (aka doenjang jjigae). It comes with a bowl of rice. I didn’t take any “updated” menu photos bcos they were the same since my last visit; however, I don’t recall seeing a little chili pepper symbol next to this dish, therefore I thought it was not spicy. Yeah.. . stayed away from spicy dishes this time bcos the nieces gotta eat. Anyway, this was slightly spicy- slightly spicy for me, but could mean VERY spicy/cannot handle level for others. 

Dolsot bibimbap. YES! Such a simple yet comforting dish. Remember to leave the bottom layer intact as you mix or else you won’t get the crispy layer =]

Seafood pancake. This was quite disappointing.. . before the last visit, the seafood pancake was always this large 12 inch pancake (like a thin crust pizza) with crispy edges & lots of seafood. Tbh, it was a dish that I’ve liked from here since the days they were still off Whyte Ave (current Seoul Fried Chicken location). Like it has been a fav of mine since then! The last time I came & ordered this, it was 3 small-ish pancakes. & I guess it’s still 3 pancakes, but they cut it & presented it better. It now contains some stuffer material (namely potato shreds), less seafood, & most importantly, there’s no crisp texture to it =( I was sad.. .

The ulmyeon, aka noodles in a milky clear broth that contains seafood & veggies. Liked it last time, & liked it this time ^^

A staple from here: the OG fried chicken. It’s so nice & simple, but so tasty! Can’t *feel* the grease at all. 

Here’s the 2nd half of our half-half chicken: the soy garlic flavour. YUMMAY! It was good but I still prefer my OG. 

Overall, satisfying meal but very disappointed in the seafood pancake. I actually thought it might have been a one-off with the last visit but I guess this is the new way now (no more pizza-like pancake).

Lee House is located in Chinatown, & in a corner spot too. .. Do you know where this might be going yet? lol

Well, it’s not very busy on weekdays, esp on Wednesday. For some time, my family of 7 was the only table of customers (then 3-4 more tables of diners came in), & like always, we were seated in the middle table of the restaurant (largest one they have, & has room for 2 high chairs). In the middle of our meal, a dude came in...  To put it bluntly, he was a drunk homeless man in his 40s (reeking of alcohol + cigarettes + poor hygiene) that came in, walking in a slant, & muttering to himself. .. & said he needed to go to the washroom. He walked so close to us & literally brushed by my arm (I was sitting in corner seat), while the poor restaurant staff (a small thin Korean girl) was telling him to leave or else she’ll call the police. I felt so bad but at the same time, so scared. We have never experienced this anywhere before & tbh, it really killed the mood after that. Every time someone opened the door, we’d all turn to see who’s coming in. Anyway, it took the guy a loooong time from the entrance to the washroom bcos it was diagonal from the entrance, & he was in there for a loooong time. It felt longer than it probably was bcos we were debating whether or not we should leave or go on standby mode in the corner till he’s gone instead of him making a half lap around us. But then, the “avoidance” might trigger something confrontational. .. so that’s bad. Eventually he comes out (staff did not end up calling the police & we ended up just staying put), & was walking wobbly. He was behind me for a while, talking to himself & . .. omg, it was so freaky! In my head, I was all like “what if he starts messing around?”, “what if he suddenly ‘attacks’ us/our dishes?”. ..etc. Nothing good came to mind. 

& so you ask “what happened?”. He left after a loooooong walk, & never returned (during our time there)- we pretty much finished up earlier than expected & left. 

So yeah. It was not good, but really, there wasn’t anything we could’ve done. My parents were like, “they should apologize to us.” & I was like, “no.. the staff couldn’t do anything. It’s not their fault that someone like that comes in.” I think they were just startled by the encounter =/ but yeah.. . long story short, I hope diners & staff will be able to remain trouble-free in the future. & pls do not let my story stop you from visiting Lee House. Their food is very tasty!

So Im a proven comp flop lol but as of now I'm keeping Raffy in the game because he's good at challenges and I'm trying to target other challenge threats because if I can keep all of my allies who are good at challenges then essentially I, a comp flop, gains information or a say in whatever advantage the highest scorer wins. Hopefully we don't attend another tribal any time soon after Raffy's incident.

I really wanted to win this challenge to prove to my tribe that I am a necessity to them and that I was true on my word: after Elliot I would try my hardest to win the comp. That's exactly what I did with my score of 100k. I needed to win that advantage. I wanted to keep it out of Blake's grubby little hands. Hopefully it is enough and we do not have to go to tribal. Another reason I pushed myself this hard is because I fear that AnnMarie did not submit. She seemed pretty busy all day, and I am not too sure what's going on. I know that I have about the same score as Lynn and Blake combined. Hopefully that is enough to push us a winners of this challenge.

I did that! I'm so proud of myself for finally coming in first in one of these types of challenges. Having to push myself was extremely taxing, but I'm glad that I did. Now I can finally improve these relationships with other people. My relationship with Richie is extremely improved, I believe, at this point. Hopefully I can speak more to Eric tonight so I can have him in my corner for merge. The reason I cancelled Blake's vote is not only because I am targeting him. It is because I want to prove to everyone that I am targeting him. The fact of the matter is that I need people to trust me. Transparency is the key to that. Therefore, I am being extremely upfront with my tribe mates, and hopefully this loyalty can last during the first merge vote. I've already planted seeds, now I need to tend to them.

I am such a mess. What would Raffy do? WHO COULD POSSIBLY KNOW BUT RAFFY HIMSELF! Turns out, he's a hero who just gives rice to kids. Nice. So now we're at Tribal Council (F12 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah) and it's a big fucking mess. Tara is scared. I want to save Tara. Raffy blocks Blake's vote. Tara is really freaked out. I reach out to Blake, bc I spoke to him a lot, despite "knowing" that he's just lying the entire time. I offer my help - anything I can do to save both Tara and him. He suggests to vote out Phoenix. Me, Tara, Lynn - that's the majority. At the same time, Tara pm's me that Phoenix pm'd her. Blake wants Phoenix and Dani to vote for Tara. Phoenix wants Tara and me to vote Lynn. Because Blake is an easy target once merge hits. EXCUUUUSE ME!? WHAT. THE. HELL. Just vote out Blake now and be done with it. Anyway, if merge hits at F11, Tara, Phoenix, Dani, Eric, Richie and myself NEED to form a majority, because Raffy is just beyond going in at this point. Also: Why is this season called Mohéli when the Tribes are named after towns on Anjouan? What if the "all-new, intriguing and breathtaking" twist is not having a merge at all??? WHAT IF I FINISH IN 12th PLACE aaaaaa

soo hopefully i managed to flip the vote off of myself. hopefully. things might change tomorrow! but um basically blake n lynn were being super fake n like were telling me to vote phoenix w andreas, n then they were telling dani n phoenix to vote me! but anyway phoenix confronted me and told me what blake n lynn were saying, so i sent him logs back of lynn telling me to vote him, n then i told lynn that phoenix told me that blake was out to get me! bcos i knew lynn would leak that back to blake. n i thought that blake would get super pissed at phoenix n go after him instead of leaking his plan to me. We are most likely merging after tribal tonight. I feel like I have accomplished what I've set out to do after Bryan was voted out: to build relationships that would help me take down Blake at merge. This NuNuMoya has been really beneficial to my game as I was able to make relationships with people that were not completely under the Blake control. Now I have both Tim, Richie, and probably Eric K on my side. Along with JG and AnnMarie, I am ready to take this merge by storm!

so basically you’re sick and huba is taking care of you c:

you had felt a bit lightheaded the day before and had a few sniffles but today you know for sure that you’re sick

you wake up late and find that your phone has quite a few texts and missed calls

most of them from work but there are some from your boyfriend xingjie

he always texts you in the morning just to say good morning

he does the same thing at night

that’s besides the point

once you called work to tell them that suddenly you fell sick overnight and that you didn’t know when you would be okay

you send a text to xingjie

‘good morning 💕 i just got up’

you would have called him except that you remembered he is supposed to be in the studio today working on some new lyrics

almost instantly you get a reply

‘its late love, don’t you have work?’

‘i had to call in sick’

he doesn’t reply but soon after there is a knock at the door

before you can get up, xingjie is opening the door

you forget that he has a spare key to your place

‘i just wanted to see if you were okay’

you’re silent, thinking about the time it took him to get here

it takes longer than that to go from here to the studio he writes in

you look at him again as he sits on your bed in front of you

his face is shiny, you would almost say dewy except for his pinky neck and noticeable deep breaths

this precious man ran from his studio to your place, he is a keeper

you reach out and play with his hair, ruffling it bcos he won’t say anything like he usually does

‘you should have stayed in the studio and focused on your music’

he sighs and takes your hand from his hair, holding it with both of his own

‘have you eaten?’

you shake your head

‘i was barely awake when i called work and then i texted you’

he sets about cooking

has a kettle of hot water and a bottle of cold water so that you stay hydrated

drink your h2o kids

when you nap, he makes a quick trip to a pharmacy or convenience store to pick up some dissolvable vitamins

dissolvable in case your throats hurts too much to swallow

this man has thought of everything

eventually you have to stop him before he implodes

he looks calm and collected as he goes around taking care of you but inside he is panicking bcos he isn’t entirely certain how to take care of someone

‘are you okay for everything?’

‘yes xingjie, that’s the fifth time you’ve asked me that in the past half hour. now come sit with me’

he sits next to you and automatically puts his arm around you

‘wont you get sick?’

‘i can still write lyrics when i’m sick’

you rest your head on his chest

‘you don’t need to be so worried you know, i have been sick before’

‘when you’re sick, you’re supposed to be resting and how can you do anything if you’re resting?’

you laugh 

‘that’s true’

‘besides, im here if you need anything’

‘well in that case, i need you to sing something’

he looks down at you

‘and why is that?’ 

‘well how else am i going to sleep?’

he chuckles to himself but you feel the vibrations in his chest and it sets you at ease

you soon fall asleep to the gentle voice of your boyfriend
