Okay, I tried reading though all of this, but it started turning into utter jibberish, now this might be because I'm tired, but I also think there are so many details in this that it's starzing to bore me, as well as words I don't know what they mean, but I do like the mentioning of leabians, so far it's only a mear mention tho

So I could not read though all this, but it did make me come up with my own idea for a show about the alliance of two different kingdoms, where the "normal" one, the one without magic, the sorta "good" one (there would be no good and bad, only weird culture and bad reputation on the magical side ig) is the one that's portrayed as strange, because they're always overly kind, naive and understanding, to the point where the folk from the other kingdom start questioning how they're even still alive, eventually making an inside joke about them being extremely lucky or smth

Now I do love a good straight but queer couple, but I also love a good fake dating/arranged marrige plot where the participants don't actually end up falling in love. Paired with me not being able to not make everything gay, I imagine the princess, who for the sake of difference is from the "good" kingdom, is more so the clear minded, cautious, rather pessimistoc than optimistic but still able to see things in a good light kind of person, the kind that would be from the "bad" kingdom, and allthough in her day and age it wouldn't be likely that she's able to put a lable on it, but she is aroace, and her closest allies, her platonic partners are all members of the royal staff (idk the medieval word for that). Now the prince of the "bad" kingdom on the other hand is more "lucky" than the "lucky people", he is sincere, kind, a great, cheerful and bright person. Multiple assasination attempts failed on him, eventually leading to the most tryhard assasin falling in love with him, allthough you would never catch him admit that. Who that assasin is, I haven't got the best idea yet, but he doesn't have either kingdom's wellness as his best interest, and it's because of him that the royal wedding always gets cancelled, not letting the soon to be queen to unite the two kingdoms, finally creating peace and making them greater than any other kingdom around. The show's finale is when this finally happens, and it's able to happen only after the prince is able to (wether knowingly or not, maybe we never actually get to find out of the assassin ever gets find out) convince the asassin to leave it be (him realizing his feelings amd that they have been the driving factor in all this, and that the marrige doesn't mean any more than an alliance to either parties)

Daughter of fantasy villains decides to rebel against her parents by actually going through with her arranged marriage to a local golden retriever of a prince instead of running off with some local villain-to-be or conquering said golden retriever’s kingdom and ruling it solo like her parents expect her to. Plus, sue her, she’s into the clean-cut earnest look.

At the same time, local prince charming discovers that he’s actually very into the gothic fiance his parents have landed him with in order to try and establish peace with the local evil lair down the lane, he would never have guessed a spiderweb pattern could look so fetching on a ball gown…?

Meanwhile, two pairs of parents in a tizzy because they both expected their offspring to whole-heartedly reject this union and give them an excuse to conquer their goody-two-shoes/evil neighbours, they’re not supposed to actually like each other-!

YES!!! I do actually!!! ;DD Tho admittedly I only discovered it a few years ago and while I 100% incorporated it into my First Ninja headcanons, I didn't have a chance to share it, I guess, haha. ;D

For those curious about the cross-collar rule: Japanese kimono is traditionally worn left side wrapped over right, unless the wearer is deceased.

Tho in RC9GN character sheets designs - ALL kimono wearing characters with the right side wrapped over left.

While I have no idea if this was an animation error due to negligence of research, or a deliberate choice with or without that clothing rule in mind (considering they travel to past and technically all people they saw are dead in the future lol), but you sure as hell can believe me that my mind run absolutely feral with that tidbit.

In some of my posts I mentioned my hcs about how First Ninja is incredibly loyal to his Clan and the siblings he lost, about how much survival guilt he must have suffered, and how much effort and energy he puts into making sure that the Ninja - the culmination of all their efforts - must survive and live on, all in order to keep the Sorcerer contained and their newfound home (and the world) safe and secure. To the point that he would immerse himself completely into his role of the protector and erase any other identity that he had left - an incredibly utterly noble and stupidly horrifying gesture of self-sacrifice for the continuous survival of his clan even at the price of his civilian life.

I trust you can see where the cross-collar rule comes into play with this. ;)

Because in First Ninja's mind - he is a dead man walking. Whatever was left of his semi-normal life with his siblings had been slipping away from him with every loss, until there was nothing left but the duty his clan had taken on. Whatever he was before that, whatever he could have been - has been dead for a long time. And contrary to harsh wording I use, I do not really see First regard it as a great loss - it is still a loss, but here comes a rule of 'the sacrifice of one for the good of many' (something this Clan will surely understand) - if anything it would seem like a logical progression for all the events of his life.

There is a reason I built my headcanons around First Ninja as the youngest of the Clan: if your whole life revolved around an important duty, it would not seem like the great sacrifice for you to devote your entire life to it to that kind of point considering all the circumstances. I mean from an outside perspective it is pretty horrible, but when you literally grew up in the situation? Its a different matter.

But the rule also can be interpreted in a more (?) uplifting manner because, if you took notice - his Ninja suit is also wrapped right over left, and in this case I chose to interpret it as not sign of death but rather continuity, an immortality of sorts if you will - because even if what was left of that young Norisu lord is dead - the Ninja will live on through inheritance, and no matter how much time will pass, how many inheritors will come and go - Ninja itself will survive. And isnt that an immortality in itself?

Admittedly while I have a great deal of thoughts about this, I'm not good at sharing my headcanons (even now I reread what I wrote and wonder if its even coherent haha...), and so far I only managed to allude to the cross-collar rule in one of my MIS posts:

Where First Ninja is still a mortal but who wears his clothes like a dead man, and Chase Young is an immortal who would not even think of dying, lol.

But trust me, while Im struggling to express all of that - every time I draw First, that rule and all the angsty implications of it are constantly on my mind. ;)

It’s the first day of snow! Well…correction, it’s the first night of snow. It’s was supposed to snow earlier today but now it’s the evening, the sun is setting and now it finally decides to snow.

It’s Christmas Eve and most are spending the holiday at home with their families. And truth is, I wish I was doing the same. But my flight got canceled going home to see family.

No matter! Snow is snow, and my little side has been waiting all day for this! So I grab my coat, gloves, hat and scarf and take off to the local park! I usually go at this time anyway, letting me and my regression to have the park to myself.

I walk through the snowy weather, making my way to the park in town. But…something’s different… When did they put a police box in the outside the entrance of the park? I mean, that’s probably a good idea. You never know who’s walking around.

I pause outside of it, looking at the blue box with wonder. Where did it come from? I’m usually here almost every day. Did it just appear? Did they just install it?

I shrug, turning to open the gate of the park and have fun! There’s so much to do! Make a snowman! Make snow angels! Run around!

And that’s exactly what I get started doing. I put my backpack down on a bench and starts running around playing. My giggles fill the air as I play in the snow! First running around, then making a snowman!

One ball rolled up, then another and another for his head. Perfect! Some stones for his eyes and a carrot for his nose. There!

I step back and admire my work. But wait a minute! Where’s his hat? I didn’t bring an extra… I take my hat off and put it on the snowman. There, now he has a hat.

But maybe he could use a scarf too? So I took mine off and gave it to him as well. Perfect! Now he’s warm and toasty. And I’m…I’m a little cold, but that’s okay!

Last but not least snow angels! I lay back in the snow and move my legs and arms back and forth making a nice big Angel.

With my Angel done I lay back and close my eyes letting the snow fall onto me. It’s been fun playing in the snow, but now it was starting to get cold and dark. I should probably start getting ready to head back…

I hear snow crunching in the distance, then someone open the park gate. What I hear next, I don’t believe at first, “Little one, what are you doing out without a hat and scarf?”

I sit up and look at a man stands with his arms crossed, but a smirk on his face. I stare at him with a look of utter shock. How did he know? Who is he? Where did he come from?

“You’ll free to death in this weather. Aren’t you cold?” I nod my head in response, he’s right I am cold.

He drops his crossed arms and walks over to me, giving me a hand to help me up. “Did you forget to bring your winter gear?” He asks concerned.

I stand beside him, wrapping my arms around myself, “I gave it to the snowman.” I point over to where my snowman was.

“Brilliant snowman!” He takes my hand almost naturally and leads me over to it, “You’ve done a great job with the face and the arms! Marvelous!” He praises me on, turning and smiling back to me.

“But, our frozen friend here doesn’t need a hat like you do.” He goes to take my hat back but I stop him, “No he does! He needs it.” I whine.

“Alright, alright he needs it,” he sighs, but comes up with an idea.

“Actually I have an item of my own to add to your amazing snowman.” He takes an extra bow tie out of his jacket pocket and shows it to me. “Do you mind if I give your snowman a bow tie?”

I shake my head and smile, “He’d look lovely with it!”

The man smiles back, putting the bow tie on the snowman. “I always make sure to carry a backup bowtie on me just in case…There! Now he’s even cooler than before.”

We stand back and admire the snowman some more. He squeezes my hand, “While our frost friend here looks amazing, you need to be warmer. I’m sure your family or Caregiver is worried sick about you being out at this hour.”

“No,” I stop him, “I don’t have either this year. It’s just me.” I try to say normally but the disappointment in my voice gives away how I truly feel.

His face turns from its smile to a concerned and heartbroken frown. “Neither? Well that won’t do. Especially not on Christmas! Come on, you’re celebrating with me. Let’s get you inside with some blankets.” Again, he takes my hand in his leading me.

He grabs my backpack on the way, slinging it over his shoulder as we walk over to…the blue police box?

“You’re a police man?” I ask.

“No, I’m The Doctor.” He smiles back.

“A Doctor?”

“No, the Doctor. That’s my name: The Doctor.” He explains, “What’s your name little one?”

“Y/N.”

“Y/N, its lovely to meet you. But it’s too late and too cold for you to be out at this hour at such a young age.” He lightly chided, “Would you like to spend the holiday with me? I’ll make sure to take great care of you being a Caregiver myself.” He smiles.

I mean…how could I say no? He’s kind, and is naturally like a Caregiver without even trying. Plus there’s something about him, something so interesting. I mean, who calls themselves the Doctor?

“I’d love to.” I smile back.

“Great! Now let’s go inside and get warmed up.” He starts unlocking the police box.

I can’t help but giggle, “In there?”

“Hey! This is my home.”

“Would we both fit?” I giggle some more.

“You’d be surprised.” He adds with a wink and a smirk before he stepped into the box.

I stand outside for a moment, contemplating it. But there’s something about the bow tie wearing Doctor that intrigues me on and on.

So against all better judgement, I push the door open and enter the police box.

Immediately my jaw opens in awe as my feet moved into the box on their own accord. I stand by the entrance, in awe and utter disbelief.

The Doctor dusts the snow off his jacket, hanging it on a coat rack nearby before turning his attention to me.

“Can I help you take your coat off?” He ask, making sure I’m comfortable first. I just simply nod, trying to find the words to talk again.

He busies himself, unzipping my jacket and dusting the snow off of it while I still look around in fascination.

“It’s a box.”

“Un huh.” He replies.

“But it’s small out there.”

“Yup.”

“But it’s gigantic in here.”

“You are too smart.” He winks with a smirk.

I giggle, laughing in disbelief of what my eye were seeing. “How is this possible?”

He lights up seeing my enthusiasm, “It’s called a TARDIS. It’s a Time Machine and spaceship. But it’s also my home for the holidays.”

“It’s…it’s a Time Machine…and a…a spaceship?”

“That’s not what matters,” he takes my hand, leading me in. “What matters is getting you warm and cozy.”

He takes me up to the center console where there’s buttons, levels and all sorts of things. “Is this how you drive your spaceship Time Machine?”

“Yes! It’s a bit more complicated than driving. She kind of has a mind of her own.” He winks again.

With that we go up the stairs and down a hallway. “There’s a million different rooms in here from a bedroom, to a kitchen, to a library, a swimming pool, a swimming pool in a library, but for us I think we’ll enjoy it in here.”

We turn the corner and enter the first room on the right. Immediately I gasp. The room is perfect. The most picturesque Christmas living room.

A big tree in the corner, a fireplace in the center with a big rug in front of it, a couch and an arm chair with blankets and pillow galore. It’s perfect.

I walk in, taking in the scene while the Doctor stands in the doorframe confused. “This isn’t the swimming pool in the library.”

“No, it’s perfectly!!” I turn and quickly say. “Absolutely perfect!”

“I guess the Tardis created this room just for you.” He looks around himself.

“She can do that.”

“There isn’t much she can’t do.” He explains, “Come on, let’s get you all wrapped up and cozy.”

He leads me to the couch, seating me in the corner and grabbing the comfy and soft blanket from the back of it, wrapping me up like a burrito.

“There!” He kisses my forehead, “All snuggled up!”

“What about you?” I ask, untangling myself a bit.

“Me?” He raises an eyebrow.

“Yeah, come snuggle.” I put my arms out to him, but he doesn’t need to be asked twice.

He snuggles close to me, wrapping the two of us in the soft blanket. “There we are. All settled now?” He asks getting a nod from me.

“Would you like me to read you a story?” He suggest.

I snuggle closer to him, resting my head against his shoulder, “Could you tell me a story instead? Tell me about yourself, your adventures in your Tardis.”

“It would be my honor.” He smiles back, “A long time ago, on a planet called Gallifrey…”

The TARDIS makes its little noises here and there but all is calm in the Time Machine spaceship. Outside the blue box has a light dusting of chilly snow, but inside is filled with warmth.

The two who had no one to spend the holiday with suddenly found themselves with the best company they could ever ask for. Two stranger becomes friends then something so much more, Caregiver and Little.

Twisting down the hallway and turning the corner to the first door on the right we find them in their Christmas living room.

The Doctor hold them, lightly rubbing their arm in a soothing manner while his Little one sleeps softly cuddled up against him.

He couldn’t understand why the Tardis has parked herself in the small park until he met Y/N, then it all made sense.

He had just lost Amy and Rory and was going to be spending his first Christmas alone, but the Tardis had other plans, finding him a Regressor who was hurting inside just as much as he was.

He promises a lot of things to himself, to take care of them, make them happy but more than anything to protect them.

The clock on the wall softly chimes on the new hour. It’s midnight, bringing with it Christmas Day. With another kiss to their forehead he whispers, “Merry Christmas Y/N.”

Haha, so, trine doesnt exist in any continuity, transformers fans made the concept up wholesale. I used to roll my eyes at it because of this but I've since come to cherish it as a concept no matter how non canon it is.

As far as I’m aware, since the dawn of time the Starscream toy has always been cast alongside a Thundercracker and Skywarp repaint to make use of the same toy mould, I can just imagine one collecting all three jet fighter planes and playing with them as a unit. The original cartoon included many scenes and shots, including one in the opening theme song, of the three of them occupying the same screentime, tho they had little love for each other even as comrads back then. IDW1’s megatron origins shows the three of them scouted to join the Decepticons together as a trio of seekers, and their similarity in design is explained as Starscream making the other two remodel their bodies to look like him so he could (allegedly) commit tax evasion?

I am new to the tf fandom so I don’t know how the trine concept actually started, I just know theres no one single continuity responsible for sparking the idea. Trines don’t exist in canon, but as seekers tend to show up in groups of three I can see how people latched on to the idea. I certainly have.

gnome, im so fucking happy youve spoken about chat being a character and member, ive been thinking about for so fucking long and seeing our ideas merge and respond to each other is just so awesome. <3

for me zams chat just was a character in some way or another, even if muss less formed, from the team awesome breakup and further. yes, princezam is a very anxious and uncertain guy, but would he actually be so constatly changing without listening and wanting to please a chat divided by opinions and therefore always unhappy with him? he got his breakdown few days before the wormhole about how chat is the reason he is in such a bad position, because he wants to please everyone and he can't, and i see it. in some way, eclipse!pz chat was a second planetlord, always making him unsure and asking questions and saying to leave, and i really dont think wed got even close to the plot we got in the end without chat. i started thinking about it for the first time when writing my lifesteal retrospective (tldr i briefly and not too accurately retold plot of s4 with pz focal to nivalu, its like +- 350 pages i think) and really fast got into the point where i was not able to write princezam at all not explaining how much had chat influenced him. in my head, at some point, most active chatters even became a characters on their own, being not a hivemind, but their own personalities with a vision and way to show it, and for the while seasons they were not only influencing pz, but they formed alliances with each other, changed their opinions and ways of influencing what was happening. and many of it actually mattered in the end, and if it wont, pz wont be so angry for all the voices in his head. while he has a character and his vision, over the past month, I've been discussing how driven he really is by the narrative and the world around him, and in general, he's reactive, and chat is part of it. it is a part of a reason why i stopped writing in chat, actually.

while zam had said that hes trying not to be influienced by the chat while making his decisions now, and i believe that hes doing his best, he really still is. loved that you mentioned your and zy theories and how it was not only presented to zam but influenced him and turned out to be completely true (I owe you and zy for not wanting to believe yall, you're incredibly smart and you were right!). before chat had mentioned it, he didn't even think about it, and initially completely dismissed the idea, but continued to reason, and by the time of the conversation with mapicc he perceived it almost as an accurate fact. there is much more less impressive but still noticable moments like that, when a chatter brings quote or idea from tumblr and it influences him, and i think while the basis of the conclusion does not include any info from others streams (staring at derapchu chatters), its awesome. its not entirely fair since we are still influenced by the knowledge, but its sorta a consequence of chat being the only lifesteal character existing out of the server. we can have no body, but we surely do change things, how any important convo can change many things in a person.

i really love it, and i also think that other chats are also partially like that, even tho less formed than zams, but still obviously changing things (even just helping the streamer, with the farms, with the riddles, how is it different from having a cool teammate who cant come right now but can explain?), but it is also a reason why i actually almost stopped writing in chats. because, while i like having the chat as a character, i dont want to be part of a lifesteal that way. but its actually so, so awesome that we have all of this. technoblade had made his chat in a part of his character as something that makes him want blood and death, but he rarely heard distict voices just because of how much of them were. zam has much less of them, and important part of them grew up with his character and gets how exactly to not just discuss a lore, but to be a part of it. not-quite-a-hivemind, but definetely a character that cannot be ignored. another reminder of how much can be done at lifesteal without spilling a drop of blood (except for the blood of the chatters who had died in !lifesteal chat pvp, of course).

All About You

This is about to be the most meta analysis post of my life, but something that has fascinated me the most about lifesteal recently: chat is the 38th member.

As a live stream story, lifesteal is always going to be affected by the live audience, the streamer reading messages, talking back and forth, sometimes doing what chat wants. This is the streamer-chat dynamic. It's natural, it's part of the story.

But something that has fascinated me particularly since season 4, particularly post zam's break s5, and Particularly in s6 since I've started interacting on tumblr, is just how much chat influences the lore and how much we influence each other.

At each of these moments there was a shift in the PrinceZam streamer-chat dynamic.

Season 4 was a lot of anti-lore chatters. People who blah blah blah'ed it up whenever Zam went into a spiral about what he should do. It heightened the feeling of isolation and confusion, especially as some chatters (shoutout van) tried to gently encourage zam in his decision making, giving counter points to the negativity. Unfortunately it often just lead to more confusion as chat was split 50/50 on almost every decision.

In season 5, after the break, there was a reset of the mod team to the team we have now (knowing most of you are here potentially reading this is weird.) These were the best chatters of s4, the ones who became highly invested in Eclipse, and lifesteal in general, and Zam in particular.

In season 5 the hivemind of the mod team getting excited about lore was hilarious to watch. Half the team reprimanded backseating of the rest of the mod team (shoutout meep), the other half lored it up (shoutout chips), everyone loved it. 'Credit to the artist' was born as direct quotes from chat made it into the character.

Read that again: Direct Quotes From Chat Made It Into The Character.

That is weird.

No longer was it simply the mind of PrinceZam forming the character of Zam, as we watched and reacted, but chat itself became an integral part of the lore (these are his amends. make him repent) forming and shaping it, right alongside Zam, into what that season became.

In particular the conversations as the Joker (specifically the Jumper yap in your president doesn't care about you) brought out comparison after comparison to past seasons of princezam as chatters brought up and compared jumper to zam season 3. This sparked a huge renaissance of past season analysis of Zam which became heavily integrated into the final months of the server, with zam to minute, with minute bringing up his own inspiration of season 3 zam, and with zam musing about how each character approaches what past seasons mean to them (concluding, iirc, that they remember it but it doesn't matter to them. tell that to s6 zam lol).

In season 6 the dynamic has shifted again. Credit to the artist has died down, usually in favor of admitting he's reading a suggestion from chat, but the back and forth conversation, reading out specific messages, from often the same few people (shoutout arch and van and citrus (hi citrus)) has flourished more than ever (also shoutout the new chatters. there's been a turnover again and a lot of new names who are consistently affecting the lore)

Right at the end of season 5 I began interacting on lstumblr and writing and reading posts. It came from the end of season conversation about The Mering essay, Barrier Blocks: a breakdown of lifesteal in 22k words about season 4 and conflict. It wasn't the first time that essay and the story of Eclipse Federation was brought up and analyzed on stream as Zam encountered head on that his darkest time on lifesteal was the defacto fan favorite story of the server.

The analysis of the chatters was being shared with the streamer and therefore, the character. These were the seeds of thinking deeply about his actions in s4 and s5 and how he actually felt about them and not just moving on and forgetting.

And then something else started happening. Maybe it happened often before, and I was just not aware of it; I do remember a few times in s5 the mod team referencing and asking zam questions about his character that they had talked about or mused over between each other on discord. So it was happening to some extent, but particularly since starting to hear your opinions and analysis about the story on tumblr, I'm seeing a new trend in s6.

The fandom stream snipe:

When someone in chat innocently brings up something I damn well know was talked about on here just the day before.

Some analysis about a previous stream. Some wishful musing about interactions we hope to see. A tidbit about a previous stream that was unresolved.

And it changes the lore just as much as Planet is known to change the lore by talking to Zam.

The two instances that got me really thinking about chat being the 38th member were recent:

After 4c betrayed there was of course a lot of discussion and the general consensus was the we would love to see another 4c and zam conversation. Especially after 4c gave kab the disc, and zam did the short confrontation of him with derap. Multiple people, I mean it was on everyone's mind, wanted another interaction.

And when the timing was good, chat struck. Or should I say, van cooked. After Zam wrote signs about kab and wondered what to do about his interactions with her, someone mentioned 4c, and the door was opened to talk about what we were all wondering about. Van delivered, nearly single handedly driving the conversation towards talking to 4c, musing that it felt unresolved. When zam got distracted by demi talking about his base, van brought the discussion back around to 4c and the rest of chat started cooking too, innocently encouraging a second conversation. It would not have happened without chat.

The second was yesterday: talking about Leo potentially being a mole. I had analysis, I know zy had analysis, I think others did as well. But until chat started bringing up fandom analysis, zam and derap were not sus of Leo in the slightest. Zam was only partially suspicious about Mapicc wanting to kill Flame, but he only thought of it in terms of letting Mapicc down.

And it got me thinking; at what point are we stream sniping ourselves? It's not really stream sniping (though the 4c one gets very close) because it's based on our own analysis, and usually just based on zam's streams, or doesn't include knowledge that isn't known.

But that Leo analysis was lifesteal spoiler walled. It was, by default, something that was kept hidden from lifestealers on tumblr (though less for zam and more for anyone else), though, as a theory, is it really a spoiler? But as a theory, is it really meant to be seen by the character? Unless we were a member and wanted to tell our teammate we thought something was up?

It's an interesting conundrum. Our analysis is a hivemind of hyperfixating viewers who Think about lifesteal all the time, rewatch streams, watch everyone and know how everyone is likely to be thinking and acting, breaking it down, reading each other's analysis and cultivating a deep web of theories and hopes and dreams about this lovely server of ours.

And that holds weight. All the minds of the viewers pushing together to have an affect on the server. Honorable mentions are our opinions/analysis on lskab that ran rampant in chat for that like month, and, in the opposite direction, mer's rewatch of s4 ending in a "i wish zam could talk to vitalasy again" post which plausibly reignited the deep dive thinking about that season and then culminated in this past saturday's stream!

Would PrinceZam the character ever have wanted to talk to vitalasy nearly half as much without the love of the fandom (not just mer) for eclipse federation that persists to this very moment nearly 2 years later?

We mighteswell be a member on the server asking zam to talk to someone!

I'm in no way criticizing these actions. I don't have an opinion either way for when it's too much. It's part of the medium to have a chat. Lifesteal would simply not be lifesteal without the audience interaction and this influence is hardly new to the story. One could say the ls story never got started until the audience cared enough about the story as story to have an opinion on where it should go.

And it's the same with the server members: they have to care about the story enough to log on and be in the story. And then they start affecting it and the story is created.

I will never under why people insist the Paldean gym leaders need their other jobs “because the league doesn’t pay enough”. Maybe I’m misreading something, but so many gym leaders imply or outright say that the gym position came later than their other job and clearly don’t prioritize the gym itself. If anything, I would wager being a gym leader is the side hustle or a PR thing and not the other way around. Also if I were chasing the bag I prolly would not be doing abstract sculpting

(this went on to be a longer ramble, talking about shrines and the abilities in totk i had more thoughts about the overworld repetition but im putting this into a separate post)

something i havent seen anyone mention before is also that it is a problem that you can skip nearly any puzzle in the totk "temples", some of which just by climbing walls ... and that wasnt possible in botw bc the titans were made of the same material as the shrines and prevented you from climbing on them, which feels like they knew making them climable would reduce the amount of puzzle you had to do and make it even less impactful, surely there are some glitches or movement tech that can make it easier, but at least you had to think about it a little?

but i guess that went against their newly adopted "more freedom equals better" way of thinking .. but then ..

the thing that i find confusing is that the shrines interior in totk are once again, NOT climable, but similar sonau buildings in the overworld ARE climable, they even restrict how you can use the tech in shrines, so ... they arent actually against restrictions? but then dont restrict anything else? not even in the main dungeons?? its kinda inconsistent and conflicting (like everything else lmao)

and that kinda extends to the abilities too, both the ceiling jump and ultrahand make alot of puzzles obsolete bc theres always a way easier way to skip everything; i know they kidna based it around people doing crazy thigns in botw, but there it felt like you were actually kinda missusing the mechanic of stasis for example in a smart way, YOU came up with that and it felt rewarding creating your own solution to shrine puzzles bc there were multiple ways to do it in this engine (like isntead of aligning blocks to lead electritiy to one end to the other you put out your weapons and place them there instead, and it WORKS) it felt more non intended, even if they had thoguht about it, it still FELT like you just came up with that, and sometimes it really was the only way your mind worked with and everyone had their own way of thinking

while in totk, they kinda tried to encourage that way of thinking, but it doesnt feel like your own idea anymore really, and, while its not every single one, in alot of totk shrines .. or even overworld puzzles you were just .. literally given the puzzle pieces for you to put together, but the pieces were like .. in parts of 6 at most so putting together the picture was both obvious and also kinda boring, like you were treated like you are a 4 year old and they were giving you 4 piece puzzles over and over- and fine you CAN just glue the two fans together and stand on them to fly high enough to just glide over to the end instead of building the flying thing they gave you the pieces for BUT its still .. expected, like you dont feel like you are working on it your way but seeing what the devs obviously planned for and then knowingly circumventing it i dont think its good either that in combination with the ceiling jump you really can just skip almost anything, take out a fly thing and fly near the end to spam the jump until it works, instead of using the building blocks they gave you for the obvious solution you build some platform and just ceiling jump to it, theres a rocket here? fuse it to your shield and fly high enough to glide to the end, its both too easy and obvious for the intented way and then you can even entirely skip that too, and you dont even feel smart about it bc it doesnt feel like you came up with it on your own and instead feel like a child that is way too old for the toys its given and the adults giving them to you stare at you while they wait for you to solve the puzzle- and alot of the solutions were either build something with these three pieces or fight something with these pieces-

i still remember that one (or more?) botw shrines were it lead you to a button to press and once you stand on it the wall slides open and reveals some fun and unexpected challenge, over and over- there was a hallway you had to glide through but there were big moving spiky metal balls hanging from the ceiling, maybe one has a normal rope on it and you can shoot it down if you notice it but the others dont so what do you do, stasis them so you can avoid it in time, grab it with magnesis to make it swing harder and then hope for the best as you fly there or dont do anything of that and just jump in- the one were a spiked wall was chasing you and as you run more obstables are put in your way right before you get to it, you stand on a button and the wall opens greeting you with an immediate guardian laser to the face? it felt more creative and fun to me, tho granted i havent done all shrines in totk bc i grew too tired of the everything to play more

(at least thats how i felt like, like i was treated like i was stupid for alot of totk, not just in the shrines sometimes .. which were one of the more enjoyable things in it, but also in the story .. like you dont have to think at all to get everything before its said to your face over and over)

and that thing with the abilities and the tech also makes the world less like a world and more like a playground bc you can just skip to every point of interest, you dont have to walk or climb or fight your way anywhere really bc you can just go up and fly to whereever you want, the new weird ass towers only make it worse bc .. of course youd make use of them to get everywhere even quicker, its also kinda in the combat, they might give you the tools to be creative (with arguably very simple things .. like a wheel, a rocket a fan and flamethrower arent realyl that interesting to begin with) why would you build a laser firing tank maschine to fight some bokblins you can just .. clobber like you usually do way quicker and easier

i do like the abilities in botw more than in totk too, but its got multiple reasons, like the world felt built around it without putting it into your face all the time, and the shrines were more built around giving you fun challenges, or just .. a fun experience, with often more subtle puzzles and not always forcing you to make use of the shiekah stone runes, plus the totk abilities feel more like the same thing .. or less interesting? fuse and ultrahand really are one and the same thing but separated into two for .. some reason, the time reversal is like stasis but with less ways to apply and use it (and kinda clunky how everything freezes in place when you prime it), and both it and the ceiling jump are a skip button from one location to the next (even tho we already have the fast travel) so you dont even need to climb, like those weird towers in the underground i thoguht looked cool and interesting when i first saw them only to realize its just a way to get to the surface via ceiling jump and nothing more .. you could fast travel up with the same amount of loading time, and more often than not it wasnt even in an interesting spot or somewhere you couldnt get to otherwise; the autobuild too even lets you skip building!! the thing thats the supposedly focus! i know its annoying to build something for a long time with its clunky function but isnt it yet another skip button

... another random ramble, much more incoherent too, again i want to mention im not trying to hate on everything, jsut kinda communicate or ... spill out my thoughts and feelings; i do absolutely agree that ultrahand is a very impressive mechanic and i did have fun with all the abilities for a while ..... i still like botws more bc its more diverse and is more restricted (which i LIKE) while also having more ways to use them
