I regret not staying with my grandmother longer. I vividly remember the last time I saw her before she passed. I remember seeing her face, seeing how happy she was to see me- because she had just woken up and I was the first thing she saw- and I kept thinking how I hated that I had to say goodbye to her. I really regret leaving.

Honestly I don't know, I'm great with directions and I'm relatively good at familiarizing myself with my environment quickly. Unless you mean emotionally lost, because I was VERY lost and confused emotionally in 2020-2021.

99. Have you ever met someone who didn't seem real?

Yeah, in college 2021 I was in a weird situationship with a straight boy named August and he was like, text book perfect. Dirty blonde hair, deep green eyes, kind of lean and hunky, like he was muscular but in a "this is a product of my naturally playful and athletic lifestyle, not the gym" kind of way, and he was just unfathomably gentlemanly. 2021 was first semester coming off of a traumatic break up, and due to my minor I had to take an extra semester of college which meant my entire graduating class had finished school the semester prior. I didn't have any friends on campus due to this, but it was cool because despite the break up, I was able to use that freedom to kinda reinvent myself. August was the first friend I made, but we became friends because he had seen me give a speech in our philosophy class about Kesha for an assignment (I don't remember what the fuck I said though) and he thought it was the most interesting part of class. We ended up becoming really fast friends and throughout the year he would seek me out and idk just validate a lot of expressive decisions I made (things that I would usually be insecure about) that were a product of trying to be more authentic in spite of my break up, and it just felt like the perfect gift from the universe. Like, I remember a day where I was looking relatively nice and was feeling good about myself, so I decided to walk to a coffee shop on campus to pass the time. Out of no where, August shows up, in a gray hanes tank top (drenched in sweat) and extremely tight black running shorts. He walks up to me (he reeked from a run he was just on) backed me into a wall while placing his hand over my head (his pit is right above my face mind you) and did that very seductive "leans over your crush while looking down at them" number and just started talking to me like this wasn't the most homoerotic sequence out of a gay hallmark movie... He complimented my outfit, and we chatted for like 30 minutes EXACTLY LIKE THAT until his girlfriend showed up and then they left. Shit like that happened for 5 straight months until I graduated. I just kept thinking what the actual fuck is happening with every interaction. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. So much other almost-gay shit happened. To this day I think I hallucinated him. It was also very eerie that Folklore by T*ylor Sw*ft came out this same year and the song "August" is nearly 1-to-1 with my experience. It's almost uncanny.

When I was 13 I submitted a drawing of Amy Rose to the Archie Comics writers for a Sonic The Hedgehog art contest and my drawing won despite it being done on notebook paper with pencil. It's where I peaked btw.

I’m sorry that you haven’t gotten the response you’ve been wanting; I just got the chance to go follow you (yippee!!!) and I also hope this answer can serve as a promo for @pamabutnormalthistime too!! 💜☺️ I put my long answer under a readmore for you!!

The Tumblr roleplay community (you might see this get referred to as the rpc!!) is really fun thing to be a part of, even if it’s daunting to join for the first time!! A lot of making a new blog is subject entirely to what you want it to have- but there are little features you can add that’ll help you organize things to your liking!!

When I started here it was my first ever time making any sort of rp blog- a lot of the beginner’s guides I found were older and spoke about processes that aren’t used as much in roleplay today!! This handy post here explains a lot of the terminology that you might see floating around- and this guide on the same blog walks you through some of the basics too!!

Your blog can be anything you want it to be! If you want it to have an aesthetic sort of theme that fits your muse (character), there are loads of custom HTML themes out there that you can apply to your blog on desktop!! But it’s also okay if you don’t add a theme too- you can let your writing speak for itself!

Some things that I found really helpful to add to this blog were a Rules post, an About post, and a small Mun section talking a bit about me!! Rules pages aren’t necessary, but they’re really helpful for setting boundaries for what sorts of things you are or aren’t okay with on your blog!! (An example is “Will/won’t respond to NSFW asks, please don’t hound for replies unless it’s been one week…") It’s a nice way to keep yourself safe, and also detail how you’ll be writing with anything that gets sent in! (And it's also a nice way for you to quickly learn about any pages you'd like to interact with!) 💜

An About post (or page) can be really helpful for detailing basic information about your muse!! If you’re writing a canon-divergent version of a character, or you have a special backstory that you’ve fleshed out, this section is a wonderful place to put it!! Having an About post can help others see how you’ve made your muse your own, and it can be really exciting to type out even small mundane facts (like height, eye color) to give your character more life!! Some roleplayers also like to include a list of verses in their About section- if you create different universes for your muse from interacting with different medias, or exploring different AUs in your character's story, it can be a nice place to keep track of them all!!

Having a section about you (the mun!!) can be helpful too, but it’s entirely based on your comfort!! A lot of roleplayers will include basic information on themselves (like age, general activity levels, etc…)

You don’t have to include a Mun section, and you’re never obligated to give out any information about yourself!! (You can always use my Mun page- or any of my other pages- as a template for your own!! I won’t mind!! 💜😊)

Once you’re happy with how your blog is formatted, you can consider making a promo for your blog!! A promo can be any post that helps advertise your blog to other roleplayers, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or anything fancy! (Here is an example of the promo I made for this blog, which is in character and pretty simple!! This is an example of a promo I made for a newer blog of mine, which keeps things short and lists off the basics of the blog! Because my rp blogs are sideblogs, me liking a thread will show my main has liked it instead of the actual rp blog- so until Tumblr allows us to change blogs before we like things, I always like to give people I’m interacting with a heads up that the random personal blog in their notifications is still me!! 😊)

A promo doesn’t have to be either of those things, though- it can be something as simple as “Like/Reblog this post if you’re interested in writing with [character]”, and it’ll still do just as fine!! One of the best things about promos is that other rp blogs can reblog them to help boost your exposure!!! (Which I can guarantee will be happening on my end!! 😌)

Something else you might want (but 100% don't have to get!!) is XKit Rewritten!! It's a plugin for your browser designed specifically for Tumblr, and has a whole host of features that you can use to customize your scrolling experience!! I use it specifically for the "Trim Reblogs" option, which lets me trim threads I've been writing with others to keep them short when they go across people's dashes!! (You might've seen some threads on my blog that seem to start with my mutual's last reply, and only feature my add on- that's the work of the trimming feature!! It cuts out all the earlier replies from the reblog, but they're still accessible!)

If you're interested, you can add it for Chrome here and for Firefox here!! (*It's super important to add XKitRewritten and not any other versions- XKitRewritten is designed specifically for the version of Tumblr we have right now, and other versions are older and might not cooperate!!)

If you notice some of the colors in my writing (such as the shade of red I use for Ellie's dialogue, or the other colors you might see in this post) are different from the default options Tumblr gives you, that's because I'm using https://roleplayformatter.carrd.co!! It's not a necessity, but I like pasting my writing in there and copying the source code to add new colors to my writing, and help me format things in one place!! (It's fun to type into, but it doesn't save your writing!! 😂 So it only gets what I'm getting ready to post when there's another copy somewhere!!)

And these are just some of the basics!! There are other things you can add if you’d really like to! (Like icons, which you might’ve seen me use on here from time to time- small pictures of your character that you can use to display their expressions and little mannerisms!! I like to think of icons as sprinkles- they’re never a necessity, and the main flavor focus is really your wonderful writing! But they can frame and accompany what you write if you’d like them to! 💜)

Assets (like the red stone border at the very top of this answer!) can be made yourself, gathered from source blogs like @animatedglittergraphics-n-more, or even requested/commissioned from resource blogs!! I make all of my assets myself in PicsArt, and it’s a lot of fun- but also something I know everyone might not have the energy or time to do!! If icons and assets aren't for you, that's okay- it's never stopped me from interacting with anyone before!!

Don’t you dare say I’m copying you for writing a letter, even though you’d be right. Plenty of people write letters. Anyways, it’s not likely that you’re going to see this letter; it’s going to be too much to tell you. You see, I’m writing to you, dear Wilbur, because I want a.-- Prime, I can’t bring myself to write it yet — I’ll say at the end. 

I know you’ll let me back— maybe that’s part of why this is hard: I'm afraid of taking advantage of your feelings (which are very obvious, by the way). Do I still want you? Did I ever want you? Or was it just the circumstances?

I’m sorry. Now I really shouldn’t send this letter because I’m saying hurtful things that aren’t true again. I know I like you because I’m doing this, writing this stupid letter, even though you’re not around. 

Assuming you weren’t black-out drunk, and I know that you weren’t, you remember the night we got wasted together. Neither of us started out wanting that, of course: I remember the sun wasn’t even down when you came into the casino to bother me. I was behind the bar, so you came over and asked for a drink. I asked if you would pay and you said you wouldn’t but I gave you one anyways. You had batted your eyelashes at me and I thought to myself, “I’m too sober to handle this,” so I poured myself a drink as well. 

You started talking to me, stuff like asking how my day was going — I remember that one because I was surprised how much you cared about the answer. You kept trying to stop me from serving other customers and getting back my attention as soon as possible. I’m sure you cost me some profit. You’d be happy to have accomplished that. 

Eventually though, everybody left and it was just me and you. I got up to close to casino and you followed me, and then for some reason — because I f*cking like you, okay? — I walked you back to the bar and we kept drinking and talking. Occasionally, there would be a break in the conversation, but since we were so drunk, it didn’t bother us. And since we were drunk, it didn’t matter how much we were staring at each other. (I noticed you. Did you—-) You have gorgeous eyes -- you must have been told that in the past. I like the way your hair falls across your face, the shape of your lips — were you wearing lip gloss that night? Look, what I'm trying to say is that you're beautiful and very handsome and you have my attention.

We were sitting on the same side of the bar at this point - I was serving a bit more of watered-down-whatever that I left on the counter when we wanted it. It was getting late, the windows dark and the sounds outside different. I remember we leaned in towards each other, just a little. And you sat there looking pretty and I could have brushed back your hair and kissed your grays and blamed the drink. I could’ve, but I didn’t.

I wish I did. I wish things were simpler between us. I wish I didn’t think about you so much, but I do, it’s gotten to a point where you make me happy, so please — Please give me and us a second chance.

It's my birthday so I can finally be cringe legally. So, here's some bits and pieces of something that I've been playing with off and on since about June. As I sit here and finish off the last of my birthday sushi, I ask myself what I'd regret more: NOT sharing something I'm admittedly proud to have slaved over played around with for the last few months, OR the fact that this basically spells out how I'm a LeFou stan. Oh well. There's only one way to find out.

''One evening, whilst being dragged along on a hunting trip with his self-absorbed meathead of a stepbrother, LeFou gets lost and ends up at a mysterious castle forgotten by time, hiding a secret far more mysterious and peculiar than anything anyone's seen before. But at the same time it is, in every way possible, a tale as old as time.''

There's a whole lotta words to be said about all of this junk, so I'll put it under a readmore for the convenience of all. Please don't be mean to me about my interests.

Sketches 1 and 2 - First (Left) and final (Right) pass of Beast!Nicole

I was very tense in life and about this entire idea when I first started to dip my toes into it, and that definitely translates into my first try at drawing Beast!Nicole. Much like the Beast in the original 1991 Disney classic that has luckily never been turned into an ugly abomination of a live action cash grab remake, I tried to mix several animals in her design. She's got the lower half and tail of a wolf, upper torso of a lion, and her head...where it gets messy. I've always loved the designs of the hyenas in The Lion King, so I drew inspiration from Shenzi for her neck and part of her head. Her mouth/muzzle however is based on some of those cursed photoshops of horses with wolf teeth:

I can remember I'd JUST come back from seeing a special showing of Kung Fu Panda 2 the morning I drew the very first one of Nicole, and I've always LOVED Boss Wolf. I think you can see just a BIT of inspiration from his body shape looking at her. It probably comes across a bit better in the final when I cleaned her up somewhat. I hate looking at that first one so much, actually. It's so unforgivably clunky. BUT I did get the hang of her with time, hence the second pass. Wanna know a fun fact? Those colors were originally just something I kinda slapped together as placeholders. But...I grew pretty attached to them, so they stayed. There is...almost a month between her initial test and her final, btw.

Sketch 2 - Expression test/me having some fun

Yeahhh there was a time when I had no idea how far I was gonna actually try and go with this stuff, so I just kinda...played with it. Beast!Nicole is a treat to draw, so I jumped at any excuse to sketch her. Where the Beast in the movie had to learn to be bit more of a gentleman and control his temper, Nicole is...prone to impatience and outbursts under extreme stress. In this AU, she was forced to take the throne at a young age after the death of the previous king and queen. Going from a teenager to a ruler almost overnight weighed heavily on her, and she's got a short fuse. The night o the party in which the enchantress cursed her was a result of her breaking down and not thinking. I know there's debate in some places about whether or not the enchantress was right to curse an 11 year old prince for denying entry to a stranger, so...I tried to make this version a bit more...ambiguous on who's at fault. Maybe Nicole was being hasty, and maybe the enchantress was wrong to condemn a teenager to Eternal Fursuit just for trying to abide by stranger danger rules. IDK.

Side note - I can't help but imagine that in her Beast form, Nicole sounds like April Winchell. Think prime angry Sylvia from Wander Over Yonder.

Sketch 3 - Smiledog.jpg ''And give him an elegant, ladylike smile!!''

I wanted her to be unsettling. LITERALLY so unsettling. She;s got a horse mouth with canine teeth, I can't imagine that puts a warm feeling in anyone's heart at all. I also just really wanted to redraw that smile scene as an excuse to draw a lot of teeth.

Remember how I said Nicole's got BAD trust issues? Most of that comes from the memory of having suitors, possible consorts, and foreign princes trying to woo and flirt. They were suffocating, and it left her with a lot of lasting bad impressions. Wouldn't call it outright sexism on her part, just...caution based on experience. To the point where the rest of the enchanted objects heard that only true love's kiss could break the spell and they all went ''Hahaha we are so fucked'' Took them forever to even begin to fathom the idea that this LeFou guy MIGHT maybe be the one to break it???

But...in the end, they work together because...they're not typical of what the world expects from them. In MY headcanon, which ignores and disowns any and all alleged ''Live action remakes from 2017'' that may or may not include ''Josh Gad'', LeFou is Gaston's yougner step brother. A headcanon, I might add, that was inspired by @wreckham and their Balto rewrite where Star is Steele's younger brother. What does that have to do with Gaston and LeFou? Well:

A weird hill to die on headcanon-wise, but I'll take it. Anyway, Nicole is a huge terrifying beast. A practical manifestation of how awkward and out of place she felt as a young princess trying so hard to fit into a role she ascended to before her time (Honestly, Nicole is just Twilight Sparkle's bookworm tendencies and lack of social skills mixed with the intimidating aura of Vitani and Sergeant Calhoun. Kiiiiind of a mess). She isn't small and lovely and fair like a young princess should be. MEANWHILE, LeFou is the young brother to the ''town hero'' and...that's kinda hard to measure up to. He's not the huge hulking man that's traditionally sought after. *COUGH* *COUGH*

They sort of...find a connection over this topic. Nicole likes him because he's nothing like the rich stuffed shirts that always flexed their looks and wealth to try and win her heart, and LeFou likes that she doesn't care if he's not a big and tough guy. Every Furry girlboss needs a short king.

Sketch 4 - ''THAT HURTS!!''

TBH the thing about this was...there WERE a few scenes I felt...REALLY obligated to try. The Ballroom scene WAS one of those, but unfortunately you won't see that one, since its over tumblr's photo size limit. Kinda happy about that, since it looks...less than great. Where was I? Oh yeah. Uhhhh this is one of my favorite scenes from the movie so I ABSOLUTELY wanted to give it a shot with these two. Sketches 4-6 are all drawn directly into screenshots from the movie because I was NOT about to try and redraw those backgrounds. God this movie is GORGEOUS but soooo intricate and i am only a little creature who scares easily. Also, I had OTHER things that were hard to draw that I was more focused on. Wanna know what those things were?! LEFOU. I don't know if I'm bad at diverse faces or maybe he's just genuinely a little tricky, but GOD I still have a hard time drawing him. Assume every sketch of LeFou here in this post took me three hours minimum. That's why most of these are of him and Nicole. My deal with myself was that if I at least gave him a good college try, I could ALSO have fun drawing Nicole, who is WAY easier. I mean I'm...getting a LITTLE better at him, but still. He was NOT east the first few times.

Nicole's snarly face in this one was so fun to draw. I looked at a lot of Nala during the chase scene with Pumbaa, and Sabor fighting Tarzan to get her teeth right. Hilariously, I also looked at Steele.

THat's right I KEPT her in the dress for the final fight in this AU. Why??? I DON'T KNOW I wanted to. Maybe it was a reference to the ''running from a T Rex in high heels'' scene in Jurassic World. Maybe it was me trying to convey how Nicole has finally come to own the ''princess'' she never thought she could be. I DON'T KNOW. OH. and by the way. her dress is loosely inspired by the one @Johannathemad drew here

You guys wanna know a really embarrassing fact? So...LeFou is voiced by Jesse Corti, right? Who ALSO provided the signing voice for Charlie in All Dogs Go To Heaven 2. So....AHEM and COUGH maybe Ive been listening to these a lot while I draw LeFou and Nicole. What of it.

Finally have time to respond to my own post lmao. Gonna put everything under a readmore, but I, too, have a Bingo

"Blake's slap." I totally understand how people saw it as abusive but like, Sun's a big boy who knew he was kinda fucking up at the time. I'm not saying it's always okay to smack your friends but I'd also be lying if I'd said that my friends and I haven't smacked each other while the other was being dumb.

"Taiyang's joke" Yang literally laughed about it. I have NO idea how this became such a huge issue in the FNDM. Was it a mean joke, yeah! But if you count getting roasted by a family member as a strike against that family member then idk how your family survives the holidays.

"Adam's change" I think y'all have heard me talk about this enough. I feel strongly that Adam's characterization was changed midway through season 3. I'm not gonna get into it here. Y'all already have seen my TedTalks about it, I'll spare y'all my soapbox.

"Jaune in a dress." As a cishet dude, really didn't see that as transphobic. I understand some trans people feel differently, but in my head, Jaune isn't trans (as far as we know)- he's not even GNC- so like, yeah, seeing a cisdude who's never worn feminine clothing before in a well fitting dress on prom night is surprising. I say this as a cisdude that sometimes wears skirts and dresses. Maybe as a cisdude I'm missing context on this one, and I admit that I'm not 100% informed on the trans experience but like I said, in my head, Jaune's not trans, so they weren't laughing at him for being trans or GNC. They were laughing because they were surprised homie came to prom in a dress that actually fit him- AND SNEAKERS.

"Qrow's innkeeper story." Qrow is an old drunk man who likes women in short skirts. Ruby and Yang are teenagers, I think they can survive hearing their uncle talk about that without combusting into flames. "Oh my god it's so sexist" he said NOTHING to demean the woman for her skirt length. The story also doesn't have him bothering the woman at all, or even really interacting with her. Just that seeing it OHKO'd him. I think sometimes the FNDM confuses "male sexual attraction towards a female character" for "sexism/chauvinism."

"Racism subplot" Again, like the Adam issue, not gonna get too into this one here, I think I've been one of the most vocal people in the whole FNDM about how bootyass the racism subplot has been handled. Literally just scroll down.

"Fair Game." As someone who was literally livetweeting "Fair Game shippers are gonna POP OFF this episode" I personally didn't really see Fair Game happening at all in the first place. Clover and Qrow were both grown men who I felt would actually be flirting if there were any feelings between them instead of the quiet uwu pining that some people interpreted their interactions as. That said, I did see some of the shippy advertisement RT was doing at the time, and the shippy merch they were selling and was definitely 👀 about the whole thing, so like, I don't agree with it, but I see y'all and feel for y'all if you do.

"Snowbird is bad." The late 20's wealthy elite who's a right hand to one of the leaders of a kingdom has way more power in a potential relationship than the mid 40s drunk teacher. Winter pegs Qrow and she deserves it

"Jaune harassing Weiss." I really do NOT understand how anyone could defend Jaune for all the bullshit he was putting Weiss through v1-2. Like, I'm a cishet dude and even I was like "she don't want you bro." It got so cringey during v2 and then they kept the joke GOING during Chibi. Shit was embarrassing and I 100% empathize with people who felt triggered by what he was doing.

"Sun is a stalker" I probably SHOULD'VE highlighted this because I do kinda believe it, but like, it wouldn't get me another bingo so it doesn't matter anyway. Sun absolutely stalked Blake for like, 6 months? But Sun also thought Blake was going to get herself killed trying to take on TWF by herself. She'd RUN without saying ANYTHING after the Fall. He was genuinely worried for her and wanted to make sure she wasn't going to do anything to get herself hurt. Is Sun a stalker? Yeah. But he's also a great friend for doing that.

"Salem was right" Absolutely. I'm always a "fuck the gods" person and if I were her I'd have absolutely done what she'd done. "Ooooh but the delicate balance" ARE Y'ALL GODS ARE NOT?? IF Y'ALL CAN'T FIND A WAY TO BRING BACK ONE PERSON FOR ANOTHER 50+ YEARS WITHOUT "DISRUPTING THE BALANCE" THEN ARE Y'ALL REALLY GODS?

"Rhodes deserved it" Absolutely. Dude could've whisked Cinder away at any point in time. Dude could've called the cops on the place to have THEM rescue Cinder. Dude had options and instead chose to just "wait until you're seventeen." You really think this little girl who's STARVING nearly every day is gonna hold out for 7 years? Also why did he choose her breakdown to suddenly become a Huntsman? Dude could've said "FUCK, why did you DO that? Take this robe, we need to leave NOW" and just... left. Instead he decides "damn, my sense of honor and duty has activated. Can't let this little girl get away with killing her abusers!" Dumb dude got skewered. Get fucked

"Jaune's screentime" Dude takes the spotlight way too much during the show. He has more lines and screentime than the main 4 characters for some of the early seasons. Dude got an entire 4 episode arc dedicated to him season 1. Like bro, wasn't this show about RWBY?

"Pick a side" I get called lesbophobic all the time for shipping Sunny-B. Blake has two hands and deserves her ripped blonde lovers. Sun and Yang would be great gym bros and then come home to rail Blake over the kitchen table. I don't see why we need to fight about this.

"Waiting too long for rep." Monty said during an interview during SEASON TWO that we'd get rep. We didn't get ACTUAL LGBT rep until season 5 with Saphron and Terra. The bees still aren't official. Like, bro, it's REALLY not that hard to just have two dudes kiss on screen (not that that's the only way to show rep).

"Amber's death." Bro 1) maybe Ozpin should've brought some more help down to the basement? What the fuck did he expect Jaune Arc to do? Also 2) if Jaune had been paying attention he'd likely have died in a SECOND and Amber still would've gotten that arrow through the chest. Him paying attention would've added nothing.

"Rosegarden is bad." I don't even like Rosegarden but this discourse is wild. Ozpin's NOT EVEN INVOLVED.

"Freezerburn tweet" If the creators aren't allowed to have a little fun with their own content then LITERALLY WHAT IS THE POINT?

"Ironwood's s8 characterization." I understand that Ironwood was always gonna be the bad guy, but the dude actually had a good plan to tell the world about Salem, protect the world from the Grimm that that announcement would bring, and then actually DO something about Salem. Ozpin didn't. Glynda didn't. No one else had ANY plan whatsoever. Why is HE suddenly the bad guy shooting ships of innocent people out the sky- people that he'd desperately wanted to save so much he flayed the flesh from his arm just a couple hours ago? Making Ironwood the tertiary bad guy was such a WEIRD fucking choice when like, Salem and Cinder were literally right fucking there!

"RWBY/JNPR destroyed Atlas" yeeeeeah that was kinda all their fault. Or at least MOSTLY their fault. They got a kingdom nuked because they were being hardheaded.

"Weiss threatening Whitley" Whitley opened the door during an apocalypse and saw his sister, someone who was so wounded she was being carried, and a couple other battle-tired folks at his door of his giant megamansion and decided to be a snippy little bitch before offering ANY kind of assistance. Weiss- as the older sister- absolutely earned the right to point a weapon at him and send him to his room. It's not like THE FIRST THING SHE DID was point a sword at him. She GAVE HIM A CHANCE to offer help. Instead his first words are "You picked a fine time to-" Like, NOTHING good or constructive was coming at the end of that sentence. Shut the fuck up, go to your room, and let the big kids try to save the world. I'm a big believer in not hitting or threatening your children, but siblings- especially siblings close in age like Whitley and Weiss- are absolutely fair game.

"Blake running away was cowardly" Yeah. She could've at least left a note explaining to watch out for Adam. She could've done SOMETHING. Instead she just runs and hopes Adam would follow her instead of doing the exact thing he said he was gonna do and hunt down the rest of RW_Y.

"Qrow is Ruby's father" I thought this for a bit. I still kinda think this but it's not like it'd get me another bingo. But the discourse surrounding this was RIDICULOUS

"Bumbleby is abusive." Don't think it's abusive, but I do think that RT put some really weird parallels of Raven into Blake- specifically the swiftness with which she abandoned Yang- and then didn't really have Yang work through those issues on screen. Like, a big piece of Yang's backstory is that she was abandoned by EVERYONE who was supposed to be there for her. Raven left. Qrow's always kept his distance because of his Semblance. Summer went MIA. Taiyang mentally and emotionally checked out after Summer's disappearance. Blake left. RUBY LEFT WHILE SHE WAS COPING WITH HAVING LOST AN ARM. Like, Yang being abandoned is such an incredibly sad and recurring part of her character. And when she reunites with Blake... none of it is addressed. It's just "we're protecting each other" and then Blake sobbing that she'll never leave Yang over Adam's dead body. There was never any conversation of "Hey, Blake. You left. You didn't just leave me, you left the team. You left and we're supposed to be partners. You left and as much as I want to forgive you, you hurt me in such a personal and terrible way that I don't think I can. But I still do want to be your friend. I still want to grow with you. But I really need time to get over how badly you hurt me." Why did Nora get a chance to say "I don't know who I am without you, Ren, so I can't get with you right now because I need to explore myself first" but Yang didn't? Again, not abusive, but they really dropped the ball on any meaningful growth between the two characters by avoiding a conversation that could've been one of the most compelling and impactful conversations in RT history had it been written correctly.

RWBY RWDE/Discourse Bingo

What's up, I know I've been basically dead for months besides RTX but I'm back to cause general chaos in the FNDM again. My first act? RWDE Bingo.

I had the idea for this last night after looking through Reddit (I know) and seeing that a lot of the FNDM still for some reason think that RWDE is a hivemind intelligence that all think the same exact things and agree with each other on everything. So I made this bingo board for everyone to have fun with! These are some of the RWDE topics and discourse I can remember from my long, long, tenure in the FNDM, and I have more, but this is round 1. If you think of any discourse or RWDE topics outside of this one, shoot me an ask or post it in the tags so I can do some more!

See which ones you agree with and talk about it if you want! Show your friends. Show your followers. Get out there and be the RWDEst bastards you can be! If- somehow- everyone in RWDE all pick the exact some discourse and don't pick the exact same ones, then I'll take back everything I ever said about RWDE not being a hivemind and give my capacity for free thinking up to the collective.

Gonna explain what each topic is under the read more considering a lot of these are old as dirt and some are a little confusing and probably could've been worded better had I not had limited space on the board. Some of them I don't agree with, but I'm still gonna do my best to explain them as unbiasedly as I can because I'm not a poopoo baby.

"Blake's slap was abusive." This one was about her slapping Sun during v4. People really didn't like that, especially considering that one of the scenes from the same episode was Jacques using physical violence against Weiss in an abusive manner. There are other conversation topics of Blake being abusive as well, but let's keep this one about the slap specifically, alright?

"Taiyang's arm joke." Remember that? Yeah a LOT of people thought Taiyang was horrible, no good, very bad father because he'd basically just made fun of Yang's brand new disability and trauma.

"Adam's change in characterization." Some people believe that Adam's characterization changed somewhere during season 3. That he went from being a ruthless freedom fighter to a genocidal maniac and jilted incel mad that his girlfriend left him.

"Qrow's Innkeeper story." People thought that story about the Innkeeper's skirt was super sexist and inappropriate for an uncle to tell his nieces.

"Jaune in a dress was a transphobic joke." This one's kinda self-explanatory. People thought that everyone laughing at Jaune wearing a dress was transphobic.

"Racism subplot is poorly handled." Again, kinda self-explanatory. Anything from Adam using his faction of TWF to join Cinder and Salem to Ghira being a bad leader to the story suddenly becoming about classism instead of racism to Robyn not being a fox Faunus, etc.

"Fair Game was queerbaiting/fridging gays." Some people thought Fair Game was the beginning of a budding romance and were sent back into The 100 CW hell when Clover got a sword through his torso.

"Snowbird is bad because Qrow is old." If you weren't around for season 3 you missed all the Snowbird shippers going feral about two attractive and of age characters finally sharing some screentime. You also missed some people being really weirded out by said Snowbird shippers because Qrow's in his mid to late 40's and Winter's in her late 20's.

"Jaune harassing Weiss s1&2." Did you think that Jaune flirting with Weiss back then was triggering? There was a ton of discourse about it and how Miles was basically using his character insert to harass one of the main characters and twist the framing of his harassment in a positive light.

"Sun is a stalker." Remember when Blake saw that robed dude following her and it was Sun? Who'd been following her for a few months? Yeah people were super squicked out about that and called him a stalker.

"Salem was right..." Basically the Gods were garbage entities anyway and deserved to get shit on. Salem was right to try, even if it got humanity 1.0 nuked.

"Rhodes deserved it." Y'all are probably like "who the hell is Rhodes?" That guy that trained Cinder! Yeah, remember that flashback scene? People think that Rhodes deserved to get skewered because he didn't actually do anything to try to save Cinder. He knew she was a slave working at the hotel and did nothing to save her and instead just told her to wait until she was 17 to join a Huntsman Academy.

"Jaune's screentime." Kinda self-explanatory. People thought Jaune took up too much screentime in the early volumes, to the point he rivaled most of team RWBY and had more lines than some of them combined. His plots also derailed the show because the bullying arc and the prom arc really had nothing to do with Salem or Ozpin or the relics or maidens, and that time could've been better spent doing more worldbuilding.

"Being forced to pick a side..." This one's almost entirely exclusive to the Tumblrsphere, but is this something you've felt pressured to do by any part of the FNDM? Have you been told you were biphobic for shipping Bumbleby/lesbophobic for shipping Black Sun? If not, count yourself lucky because you've avoided a LOT of bullshit.

"Waiting too long for LGBT rep." Do you feel that RT kept us waiting way too long for any meaningful representation? Especially considering what was promised to the FNDM early on in interviews with the CRWBY?

"Ren was an aroace bait&switch." People felt that Ren was aroace during the early volumes- especially after that "Please do nothing to the cook" apron scene- and were very frustrated when Ren did start showing romantic feelings for Nora.

"Amber's death was June's fault." Remember when Ozpin told Jaune to guard the door? And then he got distracted because his girlfriend got put in a box next to a comatose woman in another box? And then that comatose woman got an arrow through the chest because his back was turned? Do you think that was his fault?

"Rosegarden is bad because of Ozpin." Some people feel that Rosegarden is squicky because Ozpin's consciousness is in there and he's like seventy-million years old and Ruby's barely 17.

"Eddy's Freezerburn Tweet..." This one was over on Twitter. Eddy QRT'd a Tweet about "couples that would absolutely get a divorce" with "Freezerburn" and people were very angry about that and thought he was super unprofessional. Here's the link.

"Ironwood's s8 characterization..." Did you think that Ironwood's descent into a mustache twirling villain came out of nowhere? Did you think that it made no real sense to villainize Ironwood in the first place when Salem and Monstra and an army of Grimm were already outside Mantle and Cinder and her team were already inside Atlas? Did you think that that tidbit about his Semblance Mettle potentially clouding his judgement just to never be shown it was really badly handled? This one's kinda broad on purpose.

"RWBY/JNPR's stubbornness..." Some people think that Atlas being destroyed could've been prevented had our main characters just went along with Ironwood's plan.

"Weiss pointing Myrtenaster at Whitley." Did you think that Weiss doing that was totally out of line? That a soldier pointing a weapon at a civilian is totally unjustified? That siblings shouldn't ever threaten one another with violence at all?

"Blake running away was cowardly." Blake got a sword through her stomach, then was told by Adam that he'd destroy everything she ever loved. Then he dismembered Yang. Then, instead of even warning RW_Y about the threat, she just... left? Ran away? Even if you think her fear was justified, do you think it was cowardly to run without so much as a goodbye?

"Qrow is Ruby's father." Maybe you've seen this HC before, maybe you haven't. But people think that Qrow might be Ruby's real father. If you missed the discourse that his HC first brought about during v3 then I truly envy you, but if you remember the essay length dissertations people were writing about how mean and wrong and abusive that HC is, then suffer together with me.

"Bumbleby is abusive." You know all those weird parallels they keep emphasizing between Blake and Raven (how quick they are to abandon their friends, etc.), and Yang and Adam (how quick they are to lash out in anger, etc.)? You know how they're like, consistently highlighted in the show but not really addressed? But the ship is still portrayed as a positive one? Do you think Bumbleby's actually abusive?
