me the last time i was working on [project], having just written a 220k word draft of the first book: when i rewrite this i need to take out all the fun, unnecessary bits, no matter how much i like them, because i need to make this a super serious novel

me now: yeah fuck that i'm just gonna reframe the whole thing so the silly bits are the focus and cut out everything else

#txt #this is the project i've been working on some iteration of for literally 23 years #like the first version of it (very different to what it is now) came to me with i was eight years old #so at each rewrite i've been like: i first created this as a child. so i must make it deadly serious now i am Older Now #instead of just like. focusing on what i enjoy about it. and writing that #now what i like about it has shifted over time obviously #but i want to write a version of this that would make child me go fucking insane
