all the other takes ive seen against the hades 2 announcement are annoyed at it for reasons different to mine :(

the trailer + art etc for hades 2 looks fucking sickening I'm so gay for all these buff sexy goddesses + I'll def check it out if only for that. but also I am BEGGING supergiant to revamp the gameplay + increase the base difficulty bc I got bored far too quickly w the original game and I like my rogues to be actually fun. sorry :/

#like i understand complaints abt plot but also. its a rogue not a narrative game. the highlight is meant to be the gameplay.#and it doesnt even deliver on that!! as someone whos played a lot of rogues the mechanics were pretty poor all things considered #this is the problem when ppl make 'hybrid' games combining different formats #ie. in hades case: roguelike thats also a narrative heavy game with progressive romance/affinity elements tied to gameplay #u can't fully deliver on the features that define each format #hades lacks real challenge + is too dull to be a decent rogue but its not fleshed out enough + too grind-oriented to have a good story #i would say its visual design is its best feature. absolutely exceptional. and sometimes being pretty lets u ignore the other flaws #but its very lazy to make a sequel thats just a copy of the og game repackaged with new visuals. without addressing its flaws #so if thats all theyre doing as a cash grab then. whatever i guess.#its unlikely but id like both improved mechanics AND better plot writing. or if not then id like them to lean more into one or the other #rather than trying to balance the 2 and therefore failing to incorporate the good parts of each.#at the end of the day it doesnt matter that much. at least its gonna look gorgeous + therell be an audience for it regardless #sorry 4 being a hater. i promise i dont actually hate hades its very very pretty and im happy the fans r so excited :^)#and itll be fun to see which deities they include this time + how they design them!#.txt
