Feeling extremely frustrated and sad and unsafe because what's happening in Gaza is horrific, and also every social media circle I'm in is falling for the slanted media coverage without a second thought. The people I usually relate to the most are so dead set on making this a black and white conflict that they're completely overlooking the huge gaps in the narrative, and any attempt to talk about nuance or real solutions is aggressively rejected.

#there are a million examples but at the moment I'm most preoccupied with the repeated calls for a ceasefire #which have zero mention or awareness of the fact that hamas is refusing to negotiate #they could hand over the hostages at any time #but it's what their strategy has always been #hamas wants the gazans to suffer so that the rest of the world turns on Israel #they don't want peace #they want to play off a reactionary rightwing government with the gazans as the martyred collateral #this is not speculation this is based on statements directly from hamas' leadership
