omg tell me abt the space opera / sci-fi au !!!!

omg gladly! i'm still ironing things out and nothing is 100% decided or set in stone but i'm kind of excited for it? and i just really wanted to share what i've been thinking for it lol and maybe get some feedback idk

so like i mentioned it before it's supposed to be an oisuga au but that's not really... all it is. the general plot i think is going to be about suga trying to protect kageyama (who will be a kid in the au) from the space government (borrowing the name Galactic Federation for it from several sci-fi medias bc it fits really well i think)

i still haven't quite decided why they're after kageyama, i'm thinking maybe he has powers...? or something. whatever.

the different schools are going to be either planets, space stations, space crews, etc. the only three i have really ironed what to do with are karasuno, aoba johsai, and shiratorizawa. mostly because they're the main focuses of the fic

KARASUNO

karasuno is gonna be a little tiny planet whose economy is mostly sustained by their off-planet visitors (space haulers/freighters aka space truckers)

it has a rest stop/diner & auto shop (or whatever it would be called for space ships...? would it still be an auto shop idk). it's where suga is working at the beginning of the fic before he goes off on his Grand Adventure. he highkey hates it and is very bored.

idk if the planet will actually be named karasuno bc i kinda want to use the name 'karasuno' for the rest stop suga works at.... but then i wouldn't know what to name the planet. so... idk.

(on that note, i think a lot of these names might just be placeholders. i might decide against using the school names in the end idk yet)

AOBA JOHSAI

oikawa in the fic is a space captain. his crew consists of iwaizumi, hanamaki, & matsukawa (might add more characters to the crew - if i do, it will be the second years from seijoh bc i <3 them). they kinda do like freelance work.

seijoh is a planet, it's a lot bigger than karasuno and it's economy is a lot more stable. it's very well-known for the military academy aoba johsai the Galactic Federation will handpick their military recruits from there. oikawa and iwaizumi both attended this academy but obviously... things happened and they ultimately decided against actually going into the military

SHIRATORIZAWA

similarly to seijoh/aoba johsai, shiratorizawa is connected to the galactic federation via it's military academy.

ushjima is the captain of a unit in the galactic federation. his unit will consist of reon, yamagata, shirabu, & goshiki. his unit is also the one in charge of locating and bringing kageyama in.

they're not the bad guys... per se? i would say on an alignment chart, they probably fall along lawful good/neutral. there's a reason i picked the specific characters from shiratorizawa that i did and it's because they're the ones that i can mostly see fitting these roles. i'm not yet sure what i'm gonna end up doing with the rest of the shiratorizawa characters.

as for the other schools... i'm still unsure.

'm thinking of somewhat combining nekoma & fukorodani and making them another spaceship crew similar to oikawa's. (mostly because i want bokuto and kuroo to be connected in some way like.... in my mind i think of them and i'm like 'Do Not Separate' even though they aren't even on the same team in the show lmao) i do want to include kuroo, bokuto, and akaashi in some capacity because i love them.

i wanna make some of the characters aliens too (bc duh? it's a sci-fi au) but i'm still contemplating alien species.

the only one i have an idea for is making the nekoma characters anthropomorphic cat aliens.
