even the way he behaves and MOVES as a character feels dog-coded to me! the friendly energetic leap-before-you-look personality, the ADHD way he gets bored easily when there's nothing to do/chase/fetch/fight lol, the completely unnecessary flips and stunts during battle, the way he'll often literally throw himself at whatever challenge is in front of him...heck, in "Texas-ify It" there's a scene where he runs in this little?? jumpy-circle-lap-motion??? before taking a flying leap??? like an actual overexcited dog does, I just 😭😭😭

Mike being dog-coded is v fitting narrative-wise but it's also SO friggin' endearing as a character trait. we love our puppy-dog protagonist so much, yes we do!!

Rewatching motorcity as you do and Mike is so dog-coded actually. He used to be so loyal to Kane, following all his orders n stuff. Then he finally learns the truth about him and becomes more like a stray dog down in motorcity: just as strong and loyal as he was before, but this time moreso to himself and his friends. You could say he’s scrappier but more free. And he literally named his car Mutt and I just think that self awareness is so real of him
