FUCKING SCREAMS. BARTERING DOES NOT = ANTI CAPITALISM. CURRENCY SYSTEMS DO NOT EQUAL CAPITALISM. CAPITALISM IS ROOTED IN THE LACK OF SAFETY NETS AND WELFARE PROGRAMS WE AS A SOCIETY ARE PROVIDING, NOT IN MATH.

#this attitude of 'oh i'm anti capitalism we should go back to bartering' drives me up a wall like that doesn't ACTUALLY ADDRESS ANYTHING #capitalism is rooted in the belief that we should measure our worth in how useful we can be #cutting out the 'middle man' in the process won't fix things #it will actually probably just make things worse because you won't have any sort of standardized way of measuring how safe your are #when it comes to being able to acquire goods and services because GUESS WHAT we ALL NEED SPECIALIZED HELP SOMETIMES #you don't typically have the time to learn plumbing AND medicine AND how to fix leaky roofs #what are you gonna do if you need help with your leaky roof and the only one in town who can do it hates you and doesn't think anything you #have to offer is worth their services???#what are you gonna do if your specialty is providing a Skilled Service and you have to go to a doctor two towns over and you won't be able #to provide that service EVEN IF THEY NEED IT which ISN'T GUARANTEED #bartering is a quaint romanticization of the past and has nothing to do with the systems that are actually in place #and actually hurting people #this is about a devlog for a game i'm otherwise really looking forward to
