I’m on the run from The Man today. Staying undercover, keeping my nose clean and certainly not muddying any water. Just one of those days, right? A bit of a mix today, something I made myself, some from my hoard of secondhand and vintage and something new. We’re allowed new stuff, but it’s wise to invest in stuff that is made well, with as little environmental impact as possible and, not least, made to last. This jacket is a one of the items that tick boxes. The waxed @britishmillerain outer will last years with a little care and the down filling is recycled @thindown, all lined with natural Shetland wool. Dry waxes, washable fabrics, all manner of weights and special prints. It's all different from when your venerable old Barbour was made 40 years ago. And insulation materials as well. Does Sir wish to use down or polyester? Nowadays you have stuff like Thindown, where the recycled down fibres as attached to a lining, so they stay in place ensuring the insulation capability is uniform. Or recycled camel hairs, using waste harvested from the production of fashionable camel hair coats.
