the funniest* (*not actually funny at all) genshin Thing is that since the writing of female characters tends towards being uhm. the same few traits copy and pasted across like half the cast of girls no matter how much it makes sense for them to be acting that way based on the preestablished facts about them, if you put the 3000+ year old god who's ruled tyrannically over a nation, whose tyranny was the result of trauma caused by the sudden loss of her sister, and is just now centuries later coming to terms with her death and her people's needs next to the girl who's just REALLY into larping and ask 'which character is better written?' the answer will ALWAYS be the latter

#i like ei a lot but only in theory. i used to adore her as one of my all time genshin faves. but then i actually met her in game and like.#girlie is inconsistent and they waifu-fied her SO BADLY. ofc it's speculated to be bc of censors but like. come on.#it's not just a problem w ei too. i can think of at least 4 genshin girls whose entire story quest is 'mc teaches overworked girl in a #position of power how to relax + have a healthier work/life balance'. which was fine the first time and maybe the second time but like. cmo #you can't be like 'oh kokomi's a military supergenius' and then depict her as completely incompetent at running a military #they've gotten better post-sumeru w their writing regarding the girls but man.#n e ways. fischl will always be one of the best written girls in the game precisely bc she's Just Some Girl the traveler runs into a lot #whenever they're in mondstadt bc they're not trying to sell you on her being of some great importance #romeo.txt
