I was referencing the things put forth by OP, in order:
Huge wiring harnesses simplified: Cybertruck Guy and Radmad are both wrong, for different reasons.
Current industry standards don't have separate wires for each individual switch or control, either. They group several switches, lights, etc. that are nearby together, run them into a microcontroller, and put that controller on a vehicle bus. Currently that's usually a CAN (redundant, fault-tolerant) or LIN (neither, but much simpler) bus. This drastically simplifies wiring harnesses.
The main thing Tesla has done is change the DC voltage for that bus from 12 V to 48 V nominal. Since power is voltage times current, and wire thickness is dependent on current, this cuts about half the copper mass out of the power lines in the harness. The other (data) lines were already using smaller wires. The industry has been flirting with a 48V bus for around two decades by now; Tesla just went and did it and dealt with the engineering problems when they popped up. And this is a rare case where "they're a bunch of Silicon Valley nerds" may have helped: datacenters have been using 48V DC for in-rack power delivery for decades, so they had more familiarity with it than Detroit.
They've also adopted single-pair Ethernet (1000base-T1) for the high-speed entertainment data links. This technology has been in the industry since late 2016. It's usually integrated directly onto the custom ICs in ECUs. I remember another thread like this with a tweet where someone was complaining about the fragility of RJ-45 plugs and how that's disqualifying for a vehicle, and he's right, but single-pair Ethernet does not use those jacks; it's integrated into wiring harnesses with everything else.
Astronauts laded on the moon with altitude markers hand etched on the window: That was a backup system dramatized by the Apollo 13 movie. They had an inertial navigation system, like aircraft do, as their primary navigation.
Oh, and it's attitude, not altitude. Very different concepts that folks should not mix up.
Can't get a rocket off the pad without blowing up: Neither could NASA their first few years. Meanwhile SpaceX had 98 successful orbital flights last year, and they can reuse their boosters (the record is 18 times). But that's way off topic.
Tesla Model Y broke: It's not news when non-Teslas lose power steering, apparently. And I've had cars that took many more than three appointments to fix. We can throw around anecdata all day.
Series wiring like Christmas lights: Come on, you've got no basis for that.
It's like the Titan sub: Sigh. Really?
Okay, now to the RDN link:
the vehicle’s angular design and stainless steel body could pose danger to other road users
Absolutely true. Also true of almost every luxury pickup truck on the market. One example:
I'm all for figuring out some kind of regulatory regime to rein this in. Or maybe a modification of liability rules and increased insurance coverage minimums.
“The big problem there is if they really make the skin of the vehicle very stiff by using thick stainless steel, then when people hit their heads on it, it’s going to cause more damage to them,”
True, but it's not that thick or stiff; the speaker was speculating. Other have pointed out that "we shot it with a Tommy gun" is a lousy test because the bullets are rather low velocity. If you watch the side impact crash test, you can see the side panels visibly flexing.
And right after that, an IIHS rep said, “IIHS hasn’t evaluated the Cybertruck. The discussions we’ve seen so far appear to be based on speculation. I would add that our experience with Tesla is that they aim for the highest safety ratings in IIHS tests. We have no reason to expect anything different with the Cybertruck.”
The biggest problem with Teslas, from insurance companies' perspectives, has been that airbag-deployed collisions tend to result in totaling the vehicle more often than in other cars. Occupant safety, on the other hand, seems to be better than average. We've seen people walk away from their Model 3s after they got T-boned by speeding pickups (60-ish MPH in a 30 zone). We know this from accident reconstruction and camera data.
There's a linked video in the article comparing the Tesla Cybertruck collision to a Dodge Ram 1500. There are several others like it on YouTube (I saw one that had six trucks in it, all synced up). They all have the same flaw: they're comparing different crash types. The Cybertruck is doing a full frontal crash, where you drive the vehicle into a solid, immovable wall, while the others are moderate overlap crashes, where the hood goes over the obstacle and only the left 1/3 of the vehicle is obstructed, so the engine can deflect to the sides instead of going into the firewall and then the passenger compartment. The Cybertruck, of course, does not have a large engine in that space; it's mostly cargo storage. And we can clearly see it crumpling and the front wheel moving outward instead of back into the passenger compartment, like practically all cars do now.
(Some folks like to point out how the rear wheel breaks away, too: this is expected because it's a steering wheel, since the Cybertruck has four-wheel steering, and uses the same suspension technology as the front, instead of connecting the rear wheels more directly to the rear axle like most vehicles. Not completely directly, though, like the Chevy Corvair's swing axles. In any case, kinetic energy breaking the rear wheels off like that is energy that isn't compromising the cabin.)
The article addresses the "lack" of crumple zones:
Samer Hamdar, a George Washington University auto safety professor, told Reuters that while a lack of crumple zones concerned him, there could be other factors that accounted for it. “There might be a possibility of shock-absorbent mechanism that will limit the fact that you have a limited crumple zone,” Hamdar said.
I'm not going to speculate about crumple zones beyond the above ("the cargo area collapses, taking some energy with it; we have to see if that's enough to call a crumple zone, but it's not nothing") until someone tears one down and documents it. But crumple zones aren't the only means of keeping kinetic energy out of the passengers.
The rest of the article goes back to concerns about pedestrian safety, which seem to be the main substantive concern, and is noted at the end of this video:
youtube
And again, pedestrian safety is an industry-wide problem. We need another Ralph Nader, but demonizing Tesla alone (god it's so easy, Elon is such an asshole) only gives cover to the rest of the industry. And none of the tweets in OP's post spoke of this.

Half the time but you understand why the same half the time I can't get an estimate out of me or he can't get it out of me right now I'm going to ask me probably half by noon of the morlock will be gone, it's because of the addition of the cloud cities being found out and one by one they're heating up to the max and soon they're going to be up and over there and right now in the caucuses and yeah that's BG it's hotter than hell it's red hot and you have to steal it and dan and you have clothes attacking them all, and you have BG trying to launch he's actually trying to get ready to lunch and he's trying to get fuel there during the mess and a son of saying he thinks this is where the aircraft carriers that are flying come from he says that makes a lot of damn sense during the movie so he's checking it out and it is how you can move fuel and it takes a few flights but not that many and the military has been thinking of it in the winter soldiers going to come out and that's actually Tommy f and he's not trying to stop them no he is and they're figuring out something they're saying you like a loan to fight it and he stops several aircraft carriers and they get mad and the Maxi they need to think it's a sign that's happening like today we think they have the cradles built and bg is going to try and get it done. Biden thinks he can pretend he's BG, is technically a lot stronger and helps him with projects all the time. It's going on now and the numbers are increasing exponentially but so far around as I anticipated they're a little bit ahead of it but it fluctuates it's going to be mad because there's going to be tons of threats and idiot comments here but then there's going to be quiet moments but boy it's going to get nasty but it'll be over for these idiots and I anticipate they will be done by 5:00 p.m. for the most part everywhere they're not going to have it and if they don't launch still seems to just sit there and be dismantled and we need something to lunch and boy their attitude is going to be way out there and they're going to the end of tax whatever they leave behind. You also have to pirate and they're going to be a menace this is happening right now it's gigantic and it's a change in the max are gearing up now for war with these idiots 100% War. Is some other things happening that there are tons of people who see that these people are evil and they work for them and they hate them and they still have to get people here and they're trying to do it and we said there's three additional from the 24 and now there's four now 7 households and heads of the clans. And they went down to Tampa and to Miami in Tallahassee and they're trying to get theirs in and they're trying to move it out and in moments and if they buy the farm it's going to only be 17 and a creeping closer to them I was just informed three more left to try and get here to make sure they can and that would make it 10 leaving only 14 left and we're hearing four more left making it 14 and with 10 left they're just going to get their armies they've been doing it every day. This seems to be a movement to try and do that and they want to get it done then to make it work five more have left leaving only the five core head people and really it's just their clans and families and clones doing it and they have a solid group for the most part but they're fighting over their cloud cities already very hard. One of the five might get up and go we're not sure hes saying it to. And yes he is and that leaves four households here and really it's the people around him now and they need people here or. So dan is going to go to combat, yes, here now. He didn't supply in the clothes have his to be here and he knows it and it's not here that much and it's going to get troops Trump is too moving out they got decimated yesterday and BJ too but really it's just five houses left and Dan is not going to be in combat now not yet at least
Well I was going on but we should announce it later shortly and it's true that the clothes are on the move and maximobilizing and we are too

Chapter 40.5
THE ROAD SO FAR
Yay bonus chapter
The Fall of the Capital
Pvt. James Ramirez
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington D.C.
Three hours after the EMP Blast
The bunker was dimly lit with green flares as the private settled his 50th injured person underground. As the sun slowly set down to the west, hordes of aircraft from unknown invaders were starting to get close and the rest of the responding rangers had to clear all civilians for the inevitable battle.
After safely delivering the final few survivors, it was now time to head on alongside Sgt. Foley and prepare traps to put them into advantage.
Ramirez had little info on how the war escalated in as quick as three hours. But the general rumor which scattered all throughout the squad was that American citizens started shooting Europeans which prompted a patriotic man named Nero to get permission on an all out attack. He didn't even confide with his government as he claimed to act like a vigilante with an army. Which was bullshit.
Now they were the first ones to respond to the first onslaught. The mission : Secure the country's symbol. The White House should never be in the hands of invaders. Ramirez never thought of fighting in his homeland. The idea made it a lot more crucial than ever.
"Ah Ramirez, you made it. Grab some claymores by the cache and help us place it throughout the battlefield. This may put us at an advantage." Sgt. Foley ordered, his voice was commanding as always. Ramirez quickly followed orders and strategically placed their traps around their suggested area. They were guarding a mile's worth of the battlefield while the rest covered the nearby areas.
"Look at them, Ramirez." Foley remarked while the private planted his last claymore. Dozens of parachuting troops descended from the planes. Snipers warned that these parachuters are wearing civilian clothing not suitable for war, and the possibility of them being the missing persons are extremely high.
"Do not engage!" Word was relayed through comms as Ramirez set his sights on one of the descending persons. He knew one of these was his best friend's brother who was already missing for seven months.
Once the persons landed on the ground, they began to groggily recover, seeking help from nearby people as they looked lost and confused.
Some soldiers helped out those who were starting to get near and struggling and Ramirez wanted to help as well. Foley immediately stopped him on his tracks and told him that they're enough to escort them back.
"This guy's chest hurts! Does anyone have first aid?" A soldier yelled as they removed his blood soaked clothing, to tend to their wounds.
Ramirez didn't see anything but the soldiers immediately ran leaving the injured hostage on the ground.
"S shit! This madman attached bombs to the civvies!" One of the responding soldiers yelped as they ran for cover.
"Scopes confirm the ticking timer on his chest. Requesting demolitions to-" Ramirez couldn't finish the radio transmission as the bomb blew up, the explosion was not too large but there was no way that that man could make it out alive.
"Fuck. This Nero is mad!" One soldier cried as they saw a few more people approaching. Ramirez and the rest of the squad fell back to cover.
"Sneaky bastards are using our civvies as meat shields!" Foley commanded.
"Try not to hit civvies! We'll get demolitions and the bomb squad to rescue them!" He roared, as a collective cheer of acknowledgement followed. Ramirez got back to his scope and aimed his sights at the approaching enemies behind the meat shield, firing at every armored man holding a gun.
This went on until such time that armored trucks and tanks started to arrive on the scene, forcing them to retreat about half a klick. The enemies approached in overwhelming numbers as the team was distracted on whether to shoot the civvies or not.
Where does morality draw the line? They were American citizens and they were the ones whom they swore to protect, but now that they've become threats, is it truly okay to end their lives? Is it all for the greater good?
The bomb squad was having a hard time detonating a lot of attached bombs. Some actually never made it on time and it was frustrating to see them explode on the battlefield.
Aside from the physical harm of war, the soldiers were slowly losing morale as they had to see their countrymen die in front of the White House.
"Fall back!" Foley yelled, forcing the squad to once again get close to the White House. Some soldiers already lost their minds seeing people of different ages explode in front of them and they can't do anything about it. This man had no mercy.
Ramirez tried to contain all his emotions. Taking the White House would be much worse than losing a few hundred lives, and someone had to stay strong amidst the chaos. They had to push through.
Then the tide of war changed. They did what they could and the human shields were only few. With that out of the way, the whole defense team quickly got up to their feet and pushed back. Ramirez channeled all his bottled anger on his rifle, dashing around and shooting everything against him. If Nero wanted war, he's going to get it.
Not long enough, they reclaimed their original spot. The smell of explosives filled the area as claymores took away some of the enemies. Downed helos from both attacking and defending teams were all around the place, as well as burning tanks and vehicles.
It was a mess, but the enemies kept on coming. They seemed very confident in taking the house and it seemed that they still had tricks up their sleeves.
"Whiskey Mike is under attack! They're using a different kind of bomb. Requesting assistance" The squad defending the east side of the house complained.
"Ramirez! Follow me and provide assistance on the east wing!" Foley commanded and Ramirez nodded, dashing through the covers of the battlefield on their way to the east wing.
The air still crackled with electricity as most of his comrades fell on the floor, covering their ears.
"What happened here?!" Foley immediately assisted the struggling soldier.
"Emp grenades. But much worse. My head's been ringing for a long time now. It hurts so bad." He groaned as he tried to grab his rifle and stand up.
Ramirez quickly hid and responded with fire when the enemies showered their bullets on them. His allies scattered through the east wing and began providing assistance, weakening the enemy's assault.
Then from the corner of his eye, Ramirez saw another EMP grenade flying across the battlefield, his eyes widened as he tried to escape the radius of the grenade, diving into the safest spot he could think of.
The blast was a loud crackle of electricity followed by the intense ringing on his ears, making him close his eyes, wince in pain and beg for it to stop as it became louder and louder, the sound almost screeching all throughout his brain.
He lost all his focus and he couldn't think. He can't even feel his whole body. It was all dark and the ringing never stopped. He still wanted to get up. He didn't want it to end this way.

Pakistan Warns of 'Real and Present' Risk of War Year After India Takes Control of Kashmir
— By Tom O'Connor | 8/5/20 | Newsweek
Pakistan's Envoy to the United Nations Munir Akram
Pakistan's envoy to the United Nations has warned that the possibility of a war between his country and India remains one year after the neighboring rival moved to take total control over a stretch of their disputed border region of Kashmir, a move that also sparked tensions with China.
"I think the risk is real and present of a possible war between India and Pakistan," Pakistani permanent representative to the U.N. Munir Akram told Newsweek. "For Pakistan's part, we have acted with restraint."
Akram described to Newsweek what he said is a human rights situation that is "that is grave and has become worse over the past year" since India repealed Articles 370 and 35a and revoked the special semi-autonomous status of India-administered Kashmir, instituting a military lockdown to quell unrest in the country's only majority-Muslim state.
He said a deteriorating humanitarian and security situation "could lead to atrocities of genocide and a possible confrontation with Pakistan," pointing to media reports of arbitrary arrest, repression, torture and a concerted effort on the part of the Indian government to shift the demographics of the area.
Human rights groups have also sounded an alarm, with Amnesty International India saying Wednesday that India was "systematically dismantling all avenues for justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir."
The Kashmir region separates the two nuclear-armed South Asian states and both countries claim it, though each only controls part of it. The United Nations has observed a cessation of hostilities since India and Pakistan's first war in 1947, but the two rivals have fought three more conflicts since then and Akram said last year alone his government registered 3,000 ceasefire violations on India's part.
This year, he said 2,000 have already been recorded.
"It is obvious that things could escalate at any moment, so there is an ever-present danger of war between Pakistan and India," Akram said.
A paramilitary soldier stands guard at a checkpoint during a curfew in Srinagar on August 4. A curfew has been imposed across Indian Kashmir just two days before the first anniversary of New Delhi's abolition of the restive region's semi-autonomy, officials said late August 3, citing intelligence reports of looming protests. TAUSEEF MUSTAFA/AFP/GETTY IMAGES
U.N. peacekeepers also reported heat on the ground, where the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) has been active for decades. U.N. Peacekeeping spokesperson Stéphanie Coutrix told Newsweek that "the situation remains unpredictable and tense" along the Line of Control separating India and Pakistan.
"The Mission's military observers continue to perform all field tasks and duty travel between field stations," she added. "The obligations of India and Pakistan in respect of UNMOGIP and its activities also remain unchanged."
Heightened tensions spilled across their borders for the first time in decades in February of last year, when India responded to an Islamist militant group attack on troops in Kashmir by striking alleged training camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Pakistan responded with its own strikes. A subsequent dogfight ended with the shootdown of at least one Indian aircraft.
The ties between the two countries, already strained, rapidly deteriorated, collapsing almost entirely after India consolidated control over the share of Kashmir it oversees last August. Newsweek spoke around this time to multiple senior Pakistani officials who warned of the possibility of a military conflict, potentially a nuclear one, as did Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in a series of speeches intended to raise awareness and gain global support for the Kashmir cause.
Few countries have stepped up over the past year, however, with one of the notable exceptions being China, another neighboring nuclear-armed nation holding a border dispute with India. Beijing issued a statement of condemnation in response to India's move on Kashmir as it emboldened India's claims to China-administered Aksai China, which borders India-administered Ladakh.
While ties between Islamabad and Beijing have flourished in recent years, with Pakistan signing on to Chinese President Xi Jinping's global Belt and Road Initiative of infrastructure projects, China's relationship with India has been severely tested. It has been especially strained lately as a series of clashes between India and China at their shared border turned deadly and both sides accused the other of crossing their own contested wartime boundary known as the Line of Actual Control.
Akram said Pakistan was not directly involved in this conflict but pointed out that Aksai Chin was of "strategic importance" to China.
"Bearing that in mind, one has to see who provoked whom. Was China provocative or was India provocative in claiming Aksai Chin?" he told Newsweek. "So therefore now, for India to play the victim I think is rather hypocritical after bragging that it will take over the whole of Jammu and Kashmir including Aksai Chin."
Coutrix said UNMOGIP was "deeply concerned about reports of violence and deaths at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China on 15 June and urge both sides to exercise maximum restraint," but was also "encouraged by reports that the two countries have been negotiating to deescalate the situation."
Indian and Chinese officials have met repeatedly to defuse the situation, with diplomats from both countries recently emphasizing the need for cooperation with Beijing. On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China is "highly concerned about the situation in Kashmir" and warned that "any unilateral change of the status quo in the Kashmir region is illegal and invalid."
Still, he hoped that India and Pakistan "will properly resolve differences through dialogue, improve relations and jointly maintain peace, stability and development of the two countries and the region."
Journalists look at Pakistan's new political map on a screen at the Daily Metro Watch newspaper offices in Islamabad on August 4. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on has unveiled a "new political map" of Pakistan which also integrates occupied Kashmir ahead of the Yaum-i-Istehsal or Day of Exploitation on August 5, on the first anniversary after India scrapped Muslim-majority region Kashmir's semi-autonomous status and imposed a major security clampdown, local media reports. AAMIR QURESHI/AFP/GETTY IMAGES
As for Pakistan, Akram said that until Indian officials "rescind the unilateral actions that they've taken, restore the status of Kashmir to what it was before and agree to a natural dialogue where we can explore the possibility of a compromise solution, we don't see any, any movement in space or for bilateral dialogue."
India disputes Pakistan's characterization of the Kashmir conflict, viewing it as part of a campaign to combat a 30-year insurgency that New Delhi links to Islamabad. In an op-ed for Newsweek, Indian ambassador to the U.S. Taranjit Singh Sandhu extolled on Wednesday improvements in the region's economy, healthcare, infrastructure and civil society.
"No longer does Jammu and Kashmir remain sequestered from the many constitutional rights, democratic privileges and empowering legislations—including gender and child-friendly laws—that had progressively been rolled out, over decades, in the rest of India," Sandhu wrote.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar tweeted that same day that there was a "transformation underway in Jammu & Kashmir and in Ladakh," listing reforms such as the application of progressive laws, the delivery of social justice, the advancement of women's rights and empowerment, support for vulnerable sections, the expansion of education and employment opportunities and development projects taking shape on the ground.
Indian permanent representative to the U.N. T. S. Tirumurti told New Delhi-based news outlet Asia News International that "it's a well-known fact that Pakistan is the nerve center of terrorism, Pakistan is home to the largest number of listed terrorists internationally-designated terrorist entities and individuals."
But Akram disagreed. "We played by the rules we played by the book, but the book also says Kashmiri freedom is not illegal," he said.
"Therefore it is a legitimate struggle, and we will support it morally, psychologically, politically, etc.," he added. "We have refrained from material support, as an act of responsibility."
— This article has been updated to reflect Stéphanie Coutrix works in the capacity of a spokesperson for U.N. Peacekeeping, which oversees the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).

Whatever It Takes
Sequel to A Forgotten Memory
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
With more and more information revealed via Augustus' burner phone, The team now has to make an important decision, one that would change the course of their lives, forever.
Chapter 15 to another story made by Ray (echo-three-one) Comments and Reviews appreciated! I hope you enjoy! Love you all ❤️
Previous Chapter : Meet Me Halfway
Unexpected Alliances
Gary "Roach" Sanderson
Task Force 141
Flying above Russian Airspace
Roach was speechless. Admittedly the dark and messy battle at the Gulag was something worth noting but the thing that kept his head preoccupied at the moment was Soap and France kissing in the middle of warfare.
Guess love knows no boundaries huh. He thought to himself as he looked at France kneeling beside Soap who passed out from exhaustion. Another person laying beside him was an old man named Jack. The 141 records had a match to Jack, he's apparently Alex's mentor who got missing when their safehouse got raided.
Guess the force will be having two reunions tonight. His eyes turned to Price, who sat by the huge window and gazed into the sea of clouds, he's always serious and in thought that Gary found him intimidating, even after that short mission in Germany.
Then there was Ghost. He's surely heartbroken now that she saw what France did. And Gary was slightly to blame, well not necessarily his fault but if he pushed him enough to confess, maybe this won't hurt more than it did to him today.
Gary spent the rest of the trip observing, noting his comrade's actions, discussing with their thoughts, especially after the invasion. He was glad 141 extracted Soap before the deliberation, where none of them are allowed to perform missions. Gary felt scared, he just got here, got the hang of it, and was afraid to cut ties with the 141 on such short notice. But he hoped Shepherd would talk sense to the board, especially now that the burner phone filled with leads was within their possession.
"You're awfully quiet…" Ghost nudged to Gary while fidgeting with his gun.
"Well, I got nothing to talk about." Gary replied, turning to the masked man.
"Well I've got a lot, and it's pretty nasty. Can't say it here though." He replied, his tone was almost relieved, as if he just blurted out something that was bothering him for a long time.
"Is it about them?" Gary whispered, pointing his thumb to the couple back at the med bay.
"That's a different story, and I told you I was right, they already had a thing going on since day 1. Who am I to interfere…" Gary could feel him frown beneath the mask, he got defeated in the war of love.
"That's okay… You'll find someone better." Gary consoled and Ghost automatically shrugged it off.
"Eh. I hope…" he said, turning to the window opposite to Gary's position.
~
Task Force 141 Base - Infirmary
"The audio from this room's camera is muted so it's best to discuss it here." Ghost sat on the chair as concerned 141 members circled around him, Jack, Alex and Soap occupied the beds as they recovered from injuries.
"What you got for us, lad?" Price crossed his arms as he leaned by the door, his hat tilted perfectly on his head.
"An anonymous number sent Augustus coordinates of the base prior to the attack." He held up the phone and everyone murmured.
"Looks like we have another mole in our hands." Alex grunted, turning to Jack for nostalgia.
"But this time, we have a solid lead to who it is…" Ghost added while everyone braced themselves for the slap of reality they're going to get.
From out of nowhere the infirmary doors opened, Maxine was panting and sobbing at the same time, her hands held her thigh desperately enduring some sort of pain.
"It's Samantha… haaah… Shepherd took her!..." she panted as Gary quickly assisted him while everyone who was capable of fighting dashed to the scene.
"Go, Gary. I'll take care of her." Soap quickly got up with Jack, they were already fine and just required to complete their nutrition so assisting her would be the best option.
Gary nodded and dashed outside, bracing himself for the unbearable news.
"Shit. What's going on! I thought we already agreed not to take Samantha elsewhere!" Gary caught up with Ghost and the rest of the available team.
"I have my wild guess, but you're not going to like it." He replied, adjusting his shades as they exited the building. From there, they saw the General's aircraft already far away from their reach. Behind them Alex, Soap, Jack and Maxine followed, their faces were drawn with extreme sadness.
A few seconds of staring at the sky and Price's comms received an incoming message.
"Captain, I regret to inform you that the 141 is no more… I'm sending the High Value Individual to their care as the threat escalated and is being designated to a different force. I'm sorry. Please tell the rest of the group that in two weeks they will be returned to their prior assignments before 141 was established." his voice was nonchalant, emotionless and straightforward, like he's reading it from a diner table's tissue paper.
"No…" Price muttered. They were this close to Nero. The rest of the team looked down, others started to disperse and did as ordered while the more concerned group stayed.
"Shepherd's working with Nero. He wants the EMP based weaponry to help his marines in Afghanistan." Ghost blurted, raising the heads of everyone around him.
"He's trading the economical side of the world to win a war?" Gary asked, as the information doesn't add up.
"It's a wild guess but the global economic pressure is already influencing the government to allocate more funds to anti terrorism. Cutting off 141 shouldn't be in play but he found a way to do so… He wants us to stop fighting back."
"Then fighting back is what we're going to do." Price muttered, grabbing his phone.
"I'm going to make a few phone calls. Those who want to stay and save the world could stay. Those who are content to return to their past lives, you could leave."
"What about me?" Maxine asked, raising her hand.
"Come with us, We'll take care of you while it's not safe out." Gary said, almost pleading her to say yes.
"I don't have anyone else but France and Samantha. I don't know where to go from here…"
"Then that settles it. Nikolai will take us somewhere safe. If the 141 is no more, we could still salvage weapons and ammo for ourselves. But after this, there's no turning back." Price added, his voice sparked inspiration to everyone.
And that was it, from that moment. They've gone rogue, for a good cause. And they have to defeat Nero, Whatever it takes.
The Next Step
John Price
Task Force 141 - Disbanded
Former Task Force 141 Base - Helipad
A small group of his comrades were willing enough to stop the war, even at the cost of losing a lot of privileges. Price was always one to work under strict jurisdiction, and this rogue act he's going to commit will be backed up soon, it's going to be dependent on how Laswell influences the board.
The idea was easy. Create another task force which had to be approved prior to the 141's disbandment so that the papers for their redeployment would never be processed. Of course a few strings needed to be pulled and an organization must be able to absorb them. Interpol was willing to help along with Jack's influence to the CIA and Price was lucky enough to have them two on their side.
And there they were, with Nikolai's majestic aircraft, they set course to a temporary camp thanks to Jack. Price noted that he'd get along with the CIA, given they're age similarities and stance toward warfare.
He surveyed his trusty crew and took note of their abilities. There's Alex, former CIA and fought alongside him in Verdansk and Urzikstan. He's got a clear objective and will and it doesn't matter to Price whether its love or world peace. He's good at terrible hostile locations and can single-handedly turn the tide of war by local agreements and persuasion. A good weapon.
Then there's Simon Riley, or Ghost. Excellent Sniper, the team's tech guy. He's a keeper, his ability to reject emotions while in combat makes him focused and a keen observer. He also excels in weapon usage. You give him anything with a trigger and he'll be sure to hit enemies no matter what.
Another one is John MacTavish, or Soap, what kind of a name is Soap? Price thought. Price looked at the muppet proudly. He rose among his comrades during recruitment and stood at the top of his batch, showing exemplary combat skills and demolitions expertise. Excellent at handling air support machinery and his keen eye never misses a tango hiding from the field. He's got it tough recently, Price believed luck wasn't on his side that's why he got injured a lot.
There's Gary Sanderson or Roach. Price calls him the team's therapist. He sees the willingness to help from the guy. He's eager to train hard and be better and he was impressed on how he handled the German Infilnitration they did together. He has initiative and a clear goal. Something useful at these times.
There's Francine Winters, France a.k.a. Shepherd's prodigy, the last minute addition. He's still quite skeptic as to why she's placed here, but so far he knew that with her sister mentally disturbed by the enemies she's bound to use her emotions as ammunition. She's great at stealth and close combat especially great for breaking and entering missions. She could be trained of open area battles and she has the drive to do so, making her another good addition to the team.
As for the remaining ones, Jack and Maxine, he has no idea yet but them tagging along and using their resources to the fight would greatly increase their chances of killing Nero and destroying the era of EMP machinery.
"Looks like you got yourself a pretty nice team, pal." Jack patted the Former captain's shoulder.
"Yeah. Small enough to remain secret and powerful enough to defeat Nero." he muttered. Jack held his phone and showed it to Price.
"I got us a place. An old CIA Safehouse."
"Are you sure this is going to be okay?"
"Positive. This one's not used for decades. Classified as dormant and unmaintained. It's situated near a city that once housed a lot of terror activity but after it got neutralized it became very peaceful." Jack convinced. Price no longer hesitated, the team needed the help they can get.
"As long as we're under the radar." He replied and gave Nikolai the coordinates. From there they would begin their revenge toward Nero's attack, plan Samantha's rescue, and discover what Shepherd is really up to...
One step at a time.
Doing everything they can.
To set things right.
Whatever it Takes.
END OF PART 1
