#Yes to most of this but..............where on actual earth do they think emotional incest plays a role in this show#Also neither Rory or Lorelai read as ADHD#They can juggle a lot of things but they're efficient#their memories are practically eidetic and if they want to do something they do it immediately#If anyone is ADHD it's potentially Sookie but even then

Richard and his mother exhibit emotional incest traits.
He's practically attached at the hip to her. He praises her far more than he praises his own wife or daughter. He has zero boundaries with her, and encourages a closeness that eclipses all other relationships in his life to prioritize her. The way she always disapproved of Emily, and made her life a living hell, because she didn't think Emily was good enough for Richard.
Rory and Lorelai show emotional incest traits as well, as exhibited by Lorelai going on Rory's first "date" with her.
As for the ADHD....the whole show is wired on it. Everyone is talking super fast and getting distracted by Shiny Object Syndrome, taking wild tangents, throwing in song lyrics and movie quotes at random.
Lorelai is totally ADHD-coded, when she's getting distracted by every shiny thing but Luke desperately Just Wants To Get The Project Done.
Toward the end of the series, when Emily is teaching little girls to be ladies, there's a little girl who acts out all the time, can't sit still, says the wrong thing at inappropriate moments. Lorelai looks on her fondly because she sees herself in that little girl.
To me, that was a textbook example of the ADHD experience, where you WANT to be "good", but all the energy inside you is just so scattered that you can't help but act on it to get it out of your system or you'll burst at the seams.
The ADHD connection is not an outrageous proposition, since there are examples and discussions about it online in plenty of other places.

Gilmore Girls is really just:
maternal narcissism, generational trauma, religious trauma, parentification, scapegoating, the mother wound the mother wound the mother wound, emotional incest, if I don't find a way to laugh about it I'll cry, absent fathers, gifted child syndrome, emotional neglect, abandonment, psychological abuse, financial abuse, my mother will never apologize as long as I live, complex post traumatic stress disorder, oh god I'm just like my mother, thank god I am nothing like my mother, golden child privilege, golden child anxiety, the pressure of perfectionism, undiagnosed neurodivergence, ADHD on caffeine, the hellscape of emotionally immature parents, the burden of family expectations, projecting blame, parental avoidance of responsibility, gaslighting, love bombing, triangulation, silent treatment, covert abuse, passive-aggressive tantrums, hoovering, enabling abuse, obliterated boundaries, emotional manipulation, endless microaggressions, guilt tripping, shame shame shame, learned helplessness, smear campaigns...
...all wrapped up in a quirky bow.
