I can't express how annoying I find academic writers in my fellowship. Working with college students/recent grads who don't understand how to make their writing accessible and readable outside of academia is super frustrating. Once upon a time, they were also high schoolers trying to figure things out too. More often than not, I have to fight with them to make their writing less scholarly sounding while also actually adhering to the rules of CMOS. I...really hate it so much.
