Is sonia on that island with the old Master Sword?

Probably not, she doesn't really have much of a connection to it. That and getting the master sword is usually a solitary affair, sometimes there's the great deku tree but most of the time it's in an empty grove so the only person to witness the pulling of it is some companion, in this case, dragon Link.
