Honestly, it's pretty much the same for me. I'm big on collecting things too, mostly books and jewellery and the occasional kitschy antique I stumble upon at my local thrift. I also sleep a lot (but always at weird times) because my brain keeps me up at night whirring about the most random nonsensical things.

I like to think that Simon sort of takes charge of he and nerdy!readers relationship when they're working on a big research project because they just entirely forget how to function. I'm talking hoisting them over his shoulder to get to bed, plugging in their laptop so it's fully charged in the morning. He asks them questions about their interests just so that he gets the opportunity to shove a granola bar or some berries into their open mouth, otherwise they'll get so focussed they forget to eat. He'll drag them to the gym or on a walk with him just so that they can get some fresh air and exercise, because sitting at a desk for all hours of the day for weeks isn't healthy, despite how much they try and convince him it is.

Honestly? I also think that Simon would be super pro his partner getting a pet. He's down to do basically anything that will give them a break from freaking out over their studies, and he'd really like them to have some company when he's away on deployment, so at least if they don't leave the house, they won't be entirely alone.

Totally agree. I think Oz gets criticized to an unfair degree by the canon and fandom alike (no one is shocked to hear this lol) but part of my issue is what he's criticized for, not just the extent. The show tends to take incredibly weird perspectives like, "How dare you give our uncle cool bird powers with no downside" and "How dare you save group members from a deadly airship crash." The fandom takes stances with larger political implications like, "How dare an abused man 'steal' his daughters away from the mother who wants to use them for a magical form of genocide" or issues that fundamentally break the core concept of the show: "How dare you let teenagers fight dangerous battles / How dare you reincarnate - something you have no control over - into a 14yo boy." The show does engage with some of Ozpin's morally complex choices with no easy answers like, "Is it okay to keep secrets if history has shown severe downsides to revealing that information?"... but then the answer the story decides on - "No it's not" - immediately doesn't apply to half the cast, with no examination of how that changes our perception of Ozpin's choice. And, as you say, the show simultaneously introduces HUGE mistakes - "You positioned yourself as a god! Then a king!!"- that the characters could absolutely mistrust him for... but they don't. Because they're too busy focusing on all of the above.

The only thing I'd push back against here is anyone being mad at Ozpin for "nearly attacking" Ruby. I'd consider that a highly unfair criticism as well given that:

We don't know if he would have attacked. He just charges with his and out-stretched, so Ozpin could just as likely have been intending to snatch the Relic

All these characters have aura and train/hit for funsies on a regular basis. It feels like a stretch - one working to paint Ozpin in an unfair light - to act like Ruby taking a hit is suddenly some horrific event that's worthy getting up-in-arms about

In this same scene the girls pull their weapons on Qrow and Oscar - someone WITHOUT that training/fully unlocked aura - gets punched into a tree. Again, consistent morality. Why is Ozpin in the wrong for charging with an open hand (ambiguous) but the girls are justified in pulling their weapons (clear intent)? Why should Super Fighter Ruby be defended for taking a hit after forcibly stealing secrets from Ozpin, but we should shrug off the newbie farm kid taking a hit for the "sin" of being an unwitting, passive vessel?

Plus... as said above, "forcibly stealing secrets." I'm not saying Ozpin is 100% justified in attacking Ruby over this, but I think he's a HELL of a lot more justified compared to actions like threatening Qrow or attacking Oscar. Ruby ignored his requests to give the Relic back; she ignored how terrified he clearly was. She wasted a wish (which Ozpin knew would happen). She revealed his entire, traumatic history to the group PLUS a total stranger (Maria) which, again, Ozpin knew would happen. Of course he tried to stop her. We will never know what lengths he would have gone to, whether he would have truly fought Ruby or just made a last minute grab, but even if he had fought her... It think that's understandable. We can argue about whether it's right, but it's not the sort of thing the heroes should be holding against him once tempers have cooled, especially when he has stuff like playing God that they have hold as a long term grudge.

Out of everything Ozpin has done, maybe being willing to fight the prodigy fighter to keep her from making one of the stupidest decisions we've seen in the show to date is pretty low on the sin list.

I think part of it for me is that. kabru is also disabled, his is just invisible- his ptsd. and this causes him to kind of do some self abandonment, hes not good at eating, he has insomnia, he struggles with several things mithrun does too.

I like to see mithrun pick up on this and do what he can to help with that. not bc he has to in order to deserve kabru, but bc he wants to see kabru well. like mithrun noticing that kabru will ask if he's eaten but barely feed himself and being 🤨 about it. or how kabru will help him get to sleep on time just to then stay up late with work. so mithrun intervenes and stubbornly forces kabru to take care of himself sometimes.

I like to see variance in how much help mithrun needs. I think as he improves, people may accidentally forget how reliant he is. He may end up having a rough time from it, causing him to need even more help again for a while. I think he will definitely hit rough patches in his recovery, where supports that worked before suddenly dont help him much, or he feels really discouraged and hopeless again. I really like fics where his recovery isnt linear and he has significant struggles or even fully falls back into his catatonic state.

and I like to see kabru care for him. I esp like it when its part of a routine together, like meals and sleep. I do also like mithrun being helped with care tasks, but its really about the tone its written in.

I dont really like when kabru is very officially in charge of mithruns care, more as a nurse than a friend, and then a bathing scene turns into porn. that makes me uncomfortable.

but if kabru is his very close friend or his lover, bathing him or bathing together feels like an act of intimacy and closeness instead.

but also, its this- I like mithrun's care to be someone elses job bc it means every ounce of care kabru gives to him is bc he wants to, bc he cares about him, and not bc he has an external commitment. I think kabru is very willing to give mithrun what he can, even as busy as he is. I just cant see it being his job on top of the 10 jobs in one trench coat being the kings advisor is.

I think if they are together and/or live together, kabru does much more than if they arent.

I think it is important that mithrun is loved and worthy of love even when he is at his worst and needs lots of help. he deserves to have people be patient and sweet with him. and Kabru is such an acts of service guy, he really is a great person to help mithrun with that. to me it really just comes down to how it is written and presented.

does it feel genuinely intimate and loving, or does it feel weird and fetishy? and also is mithrun having trouble in a way that makes sense for his disability, or is he being reduced to being generally disabled? Is this moment an empowering one of being worthy of love at your lowest, or is he being infantilized and stripped of autonomy?

I actually completely agree with every point you made!! I don't read fanfic often and I've never read kbms before, but I do totally understand and agree with you here lol. I think I actually like the idea of Mithrun having multiple caretakers, and I'm not big on any of it feeling clinical because... they're friends and lovers and family!! Whoever I see taking care of him has some sort of close relation to him of some sort, so the idea of it being clinical does ick me (especially because the idea of having a caretaker I don't know very well and am not already close with makes me personally gery uncomfortable and unsafe). I think if I read a kbms fic, I'd want them to sort of care for each other in equal amounts (whether that care is primarily physical or primarily emotional).

Related, I really like the idea of Mithrun and Obrin (Mithrun's brother, if you didn't knkw his name) gaining a relationship where they can have equal respect for the first time, and maybe relate to each other for the first time. I think this would offer them both alot of closure.

the NärCon mods are fucked up

The NärCon discord is full of terrible mods. I can't believe they let a power hungry bully mod ban multiple people just for standing up to him LITERALLY lying, threatening people, and spreading misinformation. The mod called Svalan/Thomas at NärCon is such a massive douchbag it's unreal. I was silent the whole time and just left today after watching the shit show go down and finally realizing... these people are terrible. Genuinely bad toxic people, if I'm around them I might end up toxic like them. I don't want that. Another member posted they're leaving because they were scared of the mods oppression, and I agreed with them in my head and left too. I regret a tiny bit not leaving a message too, but we all know NärCon deletes any and all criticism they get in seconds so what's the point? They're not gonna care. He was joking about how he banned them instead of using time out or warning them. He clearly just wanted their messages calling out his disgusting behaviour out to be gone.

I believe EVERY person who called Svalan/thomas out has now been banned by him. Weird huh? NärCons mod Svalan/Thomas is manipulative and scary. No space is safe if he's in it. I truly fully believe that.

And the other NärCon mods and staff/"pandas"? One panda named Eskil admitted NärCon KNOWS pedophiles go there he even said they are "guranteed" to be at NärCon! He didn't see it as an issue or even a stupid ass statement to make?! Insane how little they care about kid's safety. And this guy works as a teacher?!?!?!? RED FLAG.

I don't know all the mods I dont think, but I know 2 more. The one called Sora can't tell sexual from non-sexual and thinks HIGHLY inappropriate sexual material should be shown to kids. Squeezing a woman's breast is serious sexual harassment, but Sora can't see why encouraging young kids to squeeze the foam tits of a drooling anime toy is fucked up? Like really really really fucked up… and Sora is the panda in charge of telling others what is and isn't allowed regarding sexual levels, so that's clearly a terrible job match. NärCon has no safeguarding for kids AT ALL.

But the saddest one for me is the mod afternoonfika aka Caro. I always admired afternoon fikas art, they were someone I looked up to as an aspiring artist. She silently watched other small artists get unfair threats, being treated like absolute shit just for standing up to Thomas/Svalan, and she said or did nothing. Just like the other mods. Didn't even correct Thomas/Svalan's lies about the rules or why he banned people. I thought maybe she was scared too and didn't want to get involved, but lo and behold, one of the banned users showed up in my other artist discord and just mentioned the abusive mod banning people, and like a hawk she told her to shut up. Caro attacked the victim and didn't even let them share their side of the story. That's so so so fucked up. I didn't think that about afternoonfika. Unfollowed them on all platforms, I can no longer support them after I know they side with bullying abusers. :(

now. ive explained norton before but i wanna revise it and sound more legit/put together than i did when i flung this at mach speeds to my friend gold BUT

first off. the toxtricity. as i've said sooo many times norton's born and raised in spikemuth, and he takes pride in it. despite the rundown/dilipadated appearance, the locals are still upbeat and lively, and piers keeps it all kicking. norton has a lot of respect for piers as well-- despite how he's a gym leader, he's in the same situation as the rest of spikemuth, and he's super fair about everything he does. i think while norton was younger he'd help out in the ways he fan. maybe he babysat marnie from time to time! but basically, he holds a lot of pride in his hometown and he has an equal amount of respect for piers despite being older than him (i see piers as about 25 to nortons 28), and he likes showing off what he takes pride in! toxtricities appear to charge attacks by strumming the chords on their chest, resembling the motion one would make playing a guitar :] i decided on the high-amp form since norton is fairly competitive during the battles themself (though he recovers from losses with a lot of grace. its pretty much a hobby to him so he doesnt get too worked up) and also, toxtricity tend to be somewhat arrogant as norton can be :]

ok. okay so. meowth/perrserker. i know the fandom didnt recieve this line very well (i wasnt too fond of it either) but. listen okay. meowth are generally known for collecting coins. the galarian meowth are specifically tougher due to being seafaring companions, and kantonian meowth dont get along with thwm. alolan meowths, who are used to luxurious lifestyles, also don't get along with their galarian counterparts, despite being the same species with little differences. perrserkers also enjoy battles and are competitive :]

corviknight is. kind of a stretch but bear with me. i gave him a rookidee originally for the sake of the new fool's gold accessory for this season, the broken cage, since rookidees have yellow feathers similar to canaries. also as an offhand reference to leave the mines. the corviknight itself symbolizes wanting a change of pace/scenery/environment for similar reasons, since in galar, corviknights are a means of transportation (one of the only ones other than trains or bikes if you dont want to walk) and they can go wherever its desired to.

barboach are cavefish that are local to the galar mines! overall the line just felt fitting </3 ive not much to say on it

the wimpod...... the wimpod is so very dear to me. little bug that scurries around his feet. they're cowardly and also native to galar mines, and i imagine he shooed away some other pokemon that were harrassing it (stunfisk perhaps) and afterwards the wimpod kind of just. followed him around the rest of the day so he caught it. he hypes it up so much and is very encouraging towards it, and it becomes his ace pokemon once it evolved to a golisopod :3

as for the boldore, he's had it since he was a kid. as a roggenrola, it was one of the only things his dad had gotten norton before his death, and norton bonded with it quite easily. despite not wanting to be a rock type specialist like the other workers, he's very attached to it!! overall, he cares a lot about his pokemon and you can really tell how much he loves them and how proud of them he is. he's one of the (arguably) few people who fully realizes how important pokemon are, and how much they've helped shape society since he'd never been someone to take anything for granted.

Wesley and guns actually makes total sense in the context of ATS I think.  Throughout S1 and S2, and even in the opening of S3, Wesley is shown to be a ringer of sorts at throwing darts - planting the seed very early on for his arc of becoming a marksman and has kept a shotgun in his closet from the point that his character had an apartment set. Being that the Wesley of old was rather deficient at defending himself, it would stand to reason that a character like that would learn how to shoot in order to defend himself in other ways. And being that the character is shot and wounded by a gun at essentially the halfway point of S2, showing that he’s out of his depth, his recovery and the fallout become what spurs him into the leadership position he assumes by seasons end. In a way, it makes sense to me too that when Wes falls to the dark side he fully embraces guns as the weapon of choice since they’re the antithesis of everything he was before (meek, quiet, mystical-minded). Maybe it’s the LA setting but guns are all over ATS as opposed to like the 5 in Sunnydale and it’s fairly baked in how and why Wesley uses them to adapt to and try to supersede the environment he’s in.

this is a Fascinating response thank you for taking the time to write it all, i hadn't put two and two together about the darts thing but it makes total sense! i definitely see how guns can be symbolic here for both character and setting, when i was watching ats i also thought that wesley's increasing use of guns could be a sign of him 'americanizing', and the fact that it happens after he was shot by a cop is definitely charged in that way.

my main issue is that, although guns are a lot more common on ats, they still for the most part follow the same rules as on btvs: they are used by the bad guys, and they dont work. i see what you mean about the LA setting, but for example gunn's gang dont use guns to fight vampires because they're smart enough to figure out that bullets wont kill them, it's only once they're playing an antagonist role in s3 that they're shown using guns to cause pain and chaos, for destructive rather than defensive violence. the cops use guns, wolfram and hart's operatives use guns, guns in this universe only work to non-lethally hurt demons, or kill humans, and since the protagonists (typically) want to kill demons and help humans guns stay pretty firmly in the villains' arsenal.

wesley hardening his outer persona as a result of the violence he's faced is a logical progression of character, and his use of guns fits into that, but this doesnt solve the fundamental problem that guns still dont work. wesley has a gun (either back in his house or in his car, either way nearby) when justine slits his throat. it didnt help him. in almost every single fight he's in where he fires a gun, two guns, a shotgun, multiple rounds -- none of them work because he's fighting demons, and the established lore has always been that guns dont kill demons. there is one exception to this and its when he shoots directly into the demon's ear because his skin is bulletproof but this way the bullet goes straight through his brain. this happens once, out of easily half a dozen seperate fight scenes where guns do absolutely nothing except maybe slow the demon down or piss it off. it got to the point where me and @titsgirlbuffy were laughing every time there was a slo-mo shot of wesley jumping through the air firing two handguns because all he achieved was to fall on his side dramatically.

american gun culture is a self-perpetuating cycle of paranoia and violence, and the buffyverse typically refuses to capitulate to it, which is why it's so baffling that wesley, an otherwise smart and logical character, keeps trying to shoot things that wont die from being shot. its that classical definition of insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. and at the same time, the narrative won't interrogate this as a potentially fascinating character flaw, a result of wesley's traumatic history with gun violence sending him into that spiral of paranoia, convinced against all evidence of experience that being armed will protect him if not this time then the next time, surely.

Many months earlier.

Henry was calm as he took in his surroundings. He was returning to Sodor from a sudden trip to Doncaster Station on the mainland, and was passing by a local scrapyard. He felt chills run through his frames as he rolled by. He came to a halt as he suddenly heard a voice call out to him from within the yard. "H..elp..meeee.." It moaned, somehow distinctly feminine despite how weak and raspy it was. "I-is someone in there?!" Henry called, backing up until he could peek inside. His eyes flew open when he saw an engine sitting there, half dismantled and in clear disrepair. She had apparently been sent there for scrap some time ago, and was never fully dismantled. "Fizzling Fireboxes!" He exclaimed. "Theres an engine in there! A-and shes alive!!" Henrys driver and fireman scrambled out of the cab to see for themselves. "Sweet lord, Henry, you're right!" Said his fireman. "And.. Is it just me.. Or.. Does she look alarmingly similar to Gordon?" His driver pointed out. Henry squinted, and all at once he could see the resemblance. "Could.. Could she be one of Gordons sisters..?" He whimpered. "Theres no way! Most of Gordons siblings were scrapped in the 60s!" His drivers entire body trembled as he stood there. The engine in the scrapyard just sat there silently, watching them amongst bits and pieces of engines long dead. Despite her severely run down state, her eyes held a faint glimmer of hope. "How long have you been in here..?" Henry asked, his eyes wide and glittering in fear. "and.. How are you communicating with me.. without any steam..?" The engine cracked a smile, opening her mouth to try and reply. Before she could say anything however, her eyes rolled back twords her smokebox, and she fell unconscious due to the exstensive damage. "We have to tell Sir Topham Hatt!" Henry wheeshed steam anxiously as his crew prepared him to continue his return journey. "Too right, old boy! Come on, full steam ahead!" Exclaimed his driver, and they set off once more with a renewed determination to save the half scrapped Pacific, and reunite her with Gordon. How they were going to DO that however, was anybodys guess.

After Henry had returned to Sodor, he and his crew went about the task of convincing the NWR's controller to purchase the engine in the Doncaster scrapyards. Noting how Gordons' 100th was coming up, and how they had Gordons blueprints on hand, he didnt see any reason to deny their request! "I will let you know as soon as I purchase this engine. Gordons 100th birthday is coming up, and I cant think of a better gift, than to reunite him with a sibling thought long dead." He adjusted his suit as he stood up from his desk. "I will make sure the Steamworks is prepared to bring an engine in her condition back up to working order. If she is as bad as you have described, its going to be an all hands on deck operation to get her rebuilt, repainted and recertified in time for Gordons birthday." Henrys crew couldnt hide their excitement, and neither could Henry! Outside the Fat Controllers office, Henry sat and listened to the conversation through an open window. A grin spreading across his face from one side of his smokebox to the other, he whistled in excitement. "shhh! Dont blow the surprise before we even get the engine here!" His driver laughed, looking out the window at his engine. "Henry, im putting you in charge of getting the other engines ready to assist with this surprise." Sir Topham Hatt boomed, turning to look out the window himself. "Make sure they're ready to run at all hours, and make sure they're all going to keep this a secret!" Henrys eyes glittered with a mixture of determination and excitement as his fire burned brighter than ever. "Yes sir! You can count on me!" And so, their mission had begun.

I hear two Atlanta Police Officers with missing vehicles called the Mayor and apologized to her for thinking of only themselves, admitted they were afraid that if they were in the same situation they would been fired as the other two in the Rayshard Brooks case and they couldn't allow that to happen to,themselves and the community so they wanted to show what would happen if it did because like me they all saw it as a justified homocide, a honorable weapon's discharge.

But after reading what i wrote last night. They fully regrret their decision and would like to have a meeting with her today, the entire 25 that stayed home for 3 days and they will all drive up to see her, in their personal cars of course.

Let me tell you something

This girl was an EMT and she WORKED with them cops. They did it on purpose, they're racists.

So my first thought was to rape her but tree says I'm incorrect. They were racist and she obviously knew secrets about them from working on the job.

They're on next month's schedule for a separate hit list that doesnt have their personal permission to be killed.

They're not on the suicide assassination list.

She's waited long enough

The charges on her boyfriend have just been dropped and I am extremely glad about that. I want his location proven to not be near these cops when they die as well as her other family and friends.
