I'm going to go with alastor since a demon is a field I'm more familiar with considering uhh, a few things that I've described (an entire Sidesystem of reportedly 30+ members ahem ahem. Definitely not eying the fact I Hyperfixated on demonic beings and witchcraft since I was at the ripe age of 9 years old).
But beforehand when I think about it a bit more, hylians can fit very well to the description of what you stated could affect the species of an alter. Because the only noticeable difference is physical, which is the only difference a child can evidently understand (you mentioned autism which as we know doesn't affect your body. If you try to explain Autism to a small kid he will have a much harder time Understanding that than understanding why someone who for example use a back brace or a wheelchair requires more patience and aid than him himself. Children are visual beings and asking them to use their mind or talking about deep or philosophical ideas with them won't work).
And of course the strength increase, which is easier to explain due to whole "if he is not human he is stronger than human, which means he is strong enough to protect me from what I go through, and maybe even retaliate to try to get it to stop" aspect. Which is simple, efficient, and respectfully very accurate of an emulation of a child's thought process. Again, kids are rather simple beings.
And hylians, very respectfully since I am not one myself so it may sound offensive, can in a way quality as something that many people think of the moment they hear "fantasy". Also known, as elves.
Elves are beings that are typically associated with the earth, with the world, and by extent healing and protecting "mother nature". It is a rather rare possibility to find an elf that actually utilizes magical power that isn't associated with nature, or water, who are by extent also associated with healing. Doesn't mean they can't, but it's more rare and a very uncommon trope in any sort of fantasy world. They are often seekers or holders of wisdom and great knowledge, and are typically at least mildly pacifist because they- once again- focus on protection of the world rather than power.
Not to mention that elves, if you look at it in a serious eye, are the race that are in a way the closest to humans (not counting shapeshifters since they're quite literally shape-shifters), and if per say they had a birth defect and their ear is short or not pointy- you will easily assume them to he humane. If we reverse that, there is an actual birth deficiency in humans that result in an ear coming out looking sharp like an elf's.
So unironically, the child's brain who already is too focused on survival, may try looking for something that can emulate the experiences the body is undergoing (in this case ostracism and dehumanization), while also something that can not only protect the body, but also nurture it or take on more than a single option of a role.
Protector = this one is obviously self explanatory, but also because elves never attack first, but only in retaliation for an outside trigger or danger or a threat to the ideals they hold, that can convince them to drop the pacifism and attack, because they are stronger than you and Intentionally hold themselves back with a lot of drawbacks or handicaps or requirements that must be fulfilled in order for them to become violent. In stories it can be the threat of the world ending or their ideals being mocked, in a system it can be the danger and pain that an innocent child undergo. That also fit the requirement that a protector never actually become aggressive because they want to or enjoy it, but because enough boundaries were crossed that the only person who deal with your shit actually said "I had enough of you".
Caretaker = Elves, and by extension as we saw multiple times, not only in FSA but in any era of the loz games, there's always kind and nurturing hylians who help the hero. Who guide the weak or protect them. Elves are peaceful beings who strive to live in harmony. Even in the first ever legend of zelda game, there's an old man who offer the kid a weapon because he is aware he is defenseless, and guide him about the outside world because he is aware the kid never met outsiders before and doesn't know "it's dangerous to go alone". They can nurture the child and explain to it how it wasn't their fault and distract them from the issue. It can in a way heal the child's wounds and make them smile.
Gatekeeper = Elves, Hylians, whatever you call those sharp eared people, you cannot deny they are smart. The legend of zelda even went a full step further by creating something that can qualify as a reason for such brain. Gatekeepers are by default somewhat secretive people, and that is because they hold information and knowledge and memory that can become very harmful if just about anyone knew of it. They have control over many factors, many powerful things or objects or actions, and if you see, in any game, who is the ruler of the strongest race in any game? An hylian. What race is the person that save the world every single time? Hylian.
What is seen in most pieces of media where elves play a role? They are either highly sought after mentors and shamans, or priests at the strongest and most powerful church, or any other position that hold great power- very similar to a gatekeeper.
Ok let's ignore the fact I said I'd talk about demons and then proceeded to write a mini essay about hylians.

XDD I was going to make a similar teasing comment about that, like "hm, yes, yes, interesting analysis of Alastor"
Okay but seriously, I love the way you can break down the possible reasoning behind a type of non-human alter. It's very thought-provoking.
As I was reading through this I found myself pausing and wondering because my Hylian headmates (at least the ones I am aware of) didn't form until my very late teens or very early 20s, somewhere around there. The brain will certainly function a little differently regarding what it percieves as need and strength than I'd like to think, but it's interesting to me because I didn't just look at Four and Wind and Warriors and think "ah, yes, stronger species that can protect me".
Actually, honestly, I didn't think anything for them to show up, I don't get that much say XD
With Four, he and his headmates are strong because their backgrounds, even before ever becoming Heroes, were in blacksmithing. Years and years of hammering, lifting and transporting heavy and dangerously hot materials, creating fine details for metal working, etc., created a very focused strength and quick wit. Then of course the Four-sword adventure honed his survival instincts, an ability to create quick judgements, and an adaptability to dangerous situations that could not afford for him to be distracted. Then you throw in the whole Linked Universe story where I became attracted (by the literal definition and not the romantic one) to his character for still being an outlier, in a way, even amongst others carrying the hero's spirit, and we latched on.
So in that respect, it was more his story than his species that made him appear strong in multiple ways.
Given your analysis, though, you make a really good point about that aspect of him anyway, and I do think it applies more heavily than I realized now that I've thought about it.
Like when I described that he was stronger after expressing the differences in species, that is because he is Hylian and not human. Blacksmithing will certainly build up your strength, but for some reason (I say like you didn't just explain it), our brain automatically perceives Hylians to be inherently stronger, or to have a more prominent genetic disposition for heightened physical strength, which is fascinating to me.
I find really neat, too, how you looked at the species' differences through the lens of multiple more well known system roles and went over how the traits of Hylians, or elves, can aide to those purposes in ways Humans cannot. Maybe at some point I ought to sit down and go through what I know about all my headmates in a similar fashion.

Yeah, with the whole of our world history and the way we are as humans would probably blow their minds. Reader is from our world. I suppose we kinda have myths of elves, who are similar looking to Hylians but they're just a concept. ƪ(‾.‾“)┐
We don't have magic, we can make illusions but we rely heavily on science. (Though I went to a party and there was a magician and he managed to get a pool 8 black ball out of a card box and I knew it was empty before hand so maybe....) (⊙_◎)
Also, I wonder what they'd think about our religions. We have sooooo many, and they have one.
We also have sooo many different cultures. I mean it's amazing. I think if Legend and Hyrule had the chance to travel to France or India or Japan or just anywhere in the world, they would. Because we have a lot of amazing sites as well. Like the Pyramids and leaning tower of Giza. I think (ignoring the conflicts and wars and stuff) they'd be intrigued to travel to further lands.
Also imagine them on a plane ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ That would be such a chaotic and stressful experience for the chain, the reader and every other passenger on board flight 100. Apart from Sky.
If Wild ever saw an Elephant, I think he would call it Vah Ruta. He'd also be down for trying to ride one.
Awww the chain meeting baby elephants. Not so cute when mama comes barging towards them after Wild tries to steal one.
Try to teach Time how to ride a bike. Or any technology. He does that mum thing when you show him a picture. And then he tries to swipe. ಠ ل͟ ಠ
I think they'd lose Twi at a rodeo. Seagulls are mean here as well, imagine a seagull stealing Winds ice cream.
Taking Sky to see tropical birds. Or Warriors to see London. Taking Four up north, maybe like Norway. Im not sure why but I feel like he'd like it there. I'm probably wrong.
Also, somewhere in the world, we have a real sword in the stone. Take them to that, and say it's our version of the master sword and just watch them struggle to pull it out.
Sorry, this was kinda long again but I've been thinking about how they would be in our world. (◕ᴗ◕✿)
~N
With the sword in the stone, it's the one king to rule them all.
I love all of this. I would love to see them interact with our world and show them everything good it has to offer via internet because I'm broke and can't afford to travel.
That would be an interesting concept to explain.
We can't travel because money. Whereas they can just pack a bag and go. No real need to worry about that sort of thing.
Teaching Time to ride a bike is one of the greatest mental images that I will treasure forever. Thank you.
If I was there I wouldn't even tell them they're elves, they are half elves. They are too soft featured.
