Hi mum maybe a silly q but I just started my last year of hs (17) and I was wondering if you had any advice for me. I have no idea what to do with my life and I'm panicking. Sometimes I can't even sleep at night because it already feels like time is running out and I've never had a bf and I don't know what to do next year and ppl just tell me 'you'll figure it out!!' and I just panic even more because I've been trying to figure it out for years and I still don't have any answers!

The first thing I want to do is to reassure you - not only time is not running out, but it hasn't even started running. It's going to start ticking when you graduate. Think of everything you've known so far as some type of introduction - real life is about to start, and it is very exciting.

In a nutshell, the world is your oyster. High school is a weird moment in someone's life because you're supposed to start thinking about your studies, future career, driving license, money, taxes and all that jazz while you're still expected to ask permission to go to the bathroom. On top of that, you're surrounded by adults whose only mission is to stress you out about exams and your future.

When I was in my first year of high school, I had a classmate who had a plan for life, where she was going to marry her current boyfriend at 18, buy a house at 20, get her dream job at 22, have her first kid at 23 and her second at 25. From anyone over the age of 26, that just looks like burnout (and a long series of disappointments) waiting to happen. But when you're that age, it feels like what everyone tells you the future is going to be like, even if you didn't give yourself deadlines. When I was little, I fully thought I'd be married with kids at 18, and yet here I am, 12 years later, with no ring on my finger and relieved that it didn't happen because it would have been the stupidest mistake I could have made at that age.

My advice is to not try to meet other people's expectations of you. Don't have kids because mum is asking for grandchildren. Don't study law because your history teacher thinks you'd be a good lawyer. Don't drop hobbies because people think it's a waste of time. If you can't debate it, it's not the right thing to do - typically, it's a decision made for you by either capitalism or tradition.

I'm giving those examples because they're my experience. I went to a uni that was 30km away from where I grew up because I didn't even think about other options. I could have moved to the other side of France! taken a gap year and travelled! moved to England and gone to uni there! become a professional pianist or a ballet dancer! But I didn't even realise it was an option, and I didn't do it.

People often give you suggestions because they didn't reach their own goals so that they can live vicariously through you - sometimes they're even trying to make you fail because they're jealous that you have an option and they feel stuck. You don't have to listen and probably shouldn't anyway, because not only they don't know what you want, but they're thinking of success in terms of money and power and maybe you're just dreaming of peace and adventure and you're allowed to.

One last thing I'd like to share is a lesson I got from my philosophy teacher when I was your age: you will never stop changing, therefore will only be able to define yourself after your death. So keep asking yourself what you want, how it's different from your previous answers, listen to your gut, wonder what your perfect day looks like and how you can get there. That's all you need to know. You have one shot at life. Don't spend it trying to please people who don't care what you want.

-Eldritch Monster AU! Hermits are all Lovecraftian horrors who all individually decided that they wanted to pretend to be normal and are all trying to hide their otherworldliness. I also feel like Mumbo or X or someone as the one actually "normal" player on the server would work well. Most hermits don't know that everyone else isn't normal either, but some find out about friends maybe.

-Rabid Debate Club AU :: Random weird au idea where it's basic hs/uni au but like two of them try to start a debate club, then invite some friends just so there's enough people; cut to like two months later, it's all the hermits just fighting over whether or not pineapple should go on pizza or not lol it isn't very good i'm sorry but ya know rabid debate club AU.

-Animal/shapeshifting AU :: (Suggested Twice.) Every hermit can shapeshift into one token animal. (If it's something like "dog," they can only turn into one breed and color of dog, EXAMPLE: doc can shift into a black sable belgian malinois, but not anything else.)

-Wedding Planners AU :: Hermits work in various unrelated businesses such as a bakery, flower shop, etc., but see each other semi-often bc they're semi-often called upon to work together by another hermit's wedding planning business (obvs if you couldn't tell i know absolutely nothing abt wedding planning & businesses n shit lol but it's the /concept/ of it yannknow)

-Avatar: The Last Air Bender AU. (Suggested Thrice.)

-Adventure Time AU :: The hermits live in a post-apocalyptic world and the Lich (bad guy) is making everything decay. They need to gather all the gems (belt colours) to unlock the Enchiridion (a book) and have one wish each granted from Prismo (multiverse wish granting dude) before the Lich does. Only 4 elements can enter the multiverse: Slime (The Lich & Jevin), Redstone (Tango or Mumbo?), Ice (Stress), and Dirt (Grian, much to his dismay). Only the elementals can see the book. Grian's the protagonist with his sidekick Scar. He originally started collecting the belts because they were shiny but eventually decided to read the book and find out what they were for when Scar said he didn't see it. Doc, False, and Iskall are major obstacles because they don't believe the book exists.</p>

Like Wels is from the mediveal/dark era, Mumbo is from 1890-1920's, Iskall is from 2030, TFC is from 2020(?), Cleo is from 2130, etc!!! Like the mobs/animals became feused with humans, is when the mob players came from.

-Star Trek AU :: Like maybe they could be on one ship and each have different roles like engineers or doctors? I don’t know if this has been suggested but hope you enjoy! - 🐦

-Magic AU :: Magic exists and all the hermits have powers. They can also summon a weapon but what that weapon is depends on the hermit. I'm thinking it'll take place in a sort-of Demise 2 in S7 with a big war. So far I've got: Grian - Cloning himself to his different personas (each has a different power). Xisuma - Making barriers, teleporting, and transforming into different mobs. Scar - Making mutant plants & boosting other hermits' attack & health. (-@datsaltyperson.)

-Demon AU :: Something enters the overworld and turns into a supernatural style-demon through Dimentional Distortion. Who gets posessed first, who goes crazy, and who actually kills it? Honestly I think that, if anything, Tango would know how to gank it, for obvious reasons. (-@fireflower-dusk.)

-High Street AU :: Everyone owns a different shop on the same street or some run a shop together (-@violets-arepurple.)

-Cat AU :: Either they're were always cats, or Hels turned everyone, including himself, into a cat, and they have to survive and overcome challenges in the Season 7 world. An example of a challenge would be Cub's a Sand Cat(the cats that always look like kittens no matter how old they are and live in deserts), and everyone's not sure if he can actually swim, so they have to find a way for him to get around without involving water. -How about a secret AU.. Every hermit has their big secrets and when Grian joined. He doesn't really know anything about those secrets even till season 7. Not many hermits talked to him in S6 anyway.. Mumbo was the closest to him so they would have regular chats For Iskall is mostly business related things Grian wants to know why so he set out on a quest to force the others to at least talk to him so he wouldn't be lonely. -Hermit Family AU :: Xisuma is very busy dad but when he isnt busy the kids and younger hermits annoying the hell out of him. Grian once asked to use Xisuma's computer and crashed the whole thing trying to download illegal gamesites and get money off the internet. okay i want none of yall to bitch abt this but,,,,,i think it was around last year’s september/october? look, i used to be really like REALLY into kpop back in the days so i tried to stay away from it but i’ve been hearing talks abt bts for years for sure

tbh, yoongi will forever be THE one for me but i do occasionally get p strong namjoon and hobi feels lmao

well finnish is my mother language, english i started to study in 2nd or 3rd grade, germany i studied through like 4th to 6th grades plus a few courses in uni, swedish i studied from 7th grade until the end of hs and japanese i did one basic course here and then a year later thinking i still got the basics i left off to live there for a year but then ofc as i arrived i was like oh shit and basically only knew how to introduce myself but since i was fully surrounded by the language (none of my classmates rly spoke english and i was the only exchange student in my school) i ended up picking it up p quickly and in like 3-4 months i was having casual convos. and for english i know it well because i was so young when we started to study it + we had a lot of ”immersive” studying like we’d do plays in english and so on instead of just reading from the book. i’ve noticed esp for me it’s easier to learn it if i’m actually using the language and interacting with other ppl who speak it! i tend to pick up phrases/accents/etc from others pretty easily. that’s why i don’t know much german or swedish despite studying them for years bc i only used them during those few h classes that we had in a week so i p much forgot everything when the exam was done ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ig my tip is to try and come up with more creative and fun ways of using the language and if you know someone who speaks it try and speak it with them!!

i’ve read the first book and seen all the movies! tho i’m no superfan and don’t know everything there is to the franchise but i’d like to think i’m either hufflepuff or slytherin!

i’d say mine prob isssss either highlight or if i’m doing my lips then when i line my lips and top it with gloss or lipstick! and girlll i know lmao i should use blush more often tho but every. single. time. i apply it way too much and i’m like oh no. or maybe i haven’t found a good shade bc i just have like one pink blush oof
